Short Summary
As Kuma attacks Saturn, that latter is surprised that Kuma’s self-destruct switch had not been activated yet which he first used after Kuma was sprung by the Revolutionary Army. Vegapunk reveals that he did not install one, but Kuma would have shutdown instead, but believes it may have something to do with his Buccaneer background. However, Saturn recovers and tries to eliminate Kuma and Bonney, but Sanji and Franky intervene. In response, Saturn orders a Buster Call on Egghead.
Long Summary
Saturn demands an explanation from Dr. Vegapunk because a few days after the Revolutionary Army rescued Kuma from Mary Geoise, he activated the self-destruct mechanism, so he should be dead. Kuma’s fist lands on Saturn and sends him flying through several buildings that collapse on him. The Marines are left in sheer disbelief that one of the Five Elders was attacked by a slave, while Kuma falls to his knees. Thanks to that, though, everyone can move again.
Sanji and Franky rush to take Bonney back to the upper levels of the island so they can escape. Dr. Vegapunk, meanwhile, is pondering the situation. He reveals that the self-destruct mechanism Saturn forced him to install was never designed to blow Kuma up, because Dr. Vegapunk suspected Saturn would exploit that.
The device was supposed to simply shut Kuma down completely and leave him in a vegetative state. This is why Dr. Vegapunk is so confused by Kuma’s presence because even with Bonney being in danger, Kuma should not have been able to come. He then starts speculating that the reason is due to a special power of the Buccaneers beside their strength. All the while, Kuma hugs…

All the while, Kuma hugs his daughter.
Kizaru remarks that everything is over now, Sentomaru is relieved to see his old friend again, and the Marines report that Luffy has vanished before they could restrain him. Bonney thanks Kuma for everything he did for her, such as writing the letters that never reached Bonney. She even says that her mother was an amazing person. She tells him that she does not care if everyone calls him a tyrant; to her, he is her amazing and kind-hearted father. Saturn emerges from the rubble seething with rage, while also having lost one of his horns and his right arm.
He demands an explanation, but Dr. Vegapunk simply says this is his own doing, though he also suspects it was due to love in the end. Saturn scoffs at this notion as his horn and arm regenerate, to the shock of Sanji. Saturn tries to attack Kuma again as Bonney tells him to get out of the way, but Sanji intercepts and deflects Saturn’s leg, declaring he will not let him hurt Bonney anymore. Franky announces he and the crew owe Kuma a huge debt as he uses Radical Beam to blast a hole through Saturn. Kizaru, however, appears behind Franky and blasts him away, declaring he will be putting the crew’s growth to the test, while Saturn’s injury heals. Bonney tells Dr. Vegapunk that Kuma cannot move, so Atlas carries him, but Kizaru says that he needs to wrap things up, especially now that Kuma has arrived. Dr. Vegapunk, however, calls Kizaru a sad man without a heart, which Kizaru agrees, saying he should have brought a darker pair of shades. Finally, Saturn orders a Buster Call to destroy Egghead completely, with Dr. Vegapunk’s studies, Kuma’s existence, and Luffy’s powers being all the justification he needs to see the island annihilated.
