Short Summary
Vivi gets into a argument with Morgans when he decides to announce Luffy as Dr. Vegapunk’s killer in the next newspaper considering there is no concrete proof. Meanwhile, Kizaru answers Sakazuki’s call, as he asks the latter if he ever killed a close friend, remembers his past with Vegapunk. Meanwhile, on the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship, Lilith wakes up. She reveals to the Straw Hat Pirates that the other Vegapunks are technically still alive. The whole group then has a party, while on Elbaph a mysterious figure is waiting for the Straw Hat Pirates.
Long Summary
Morgans is ecstatic about Dr. Vegapunk’s speech to the world, as it gives him the chance to spread fear and despair through the news which everyone will eat up because he is the only source of information there is. Vivi scolds him for this behavior and points out how Dr. Vegapunk spoke of hope in the future, but Morgans threatens to expose where she is if she does not stop telling him how to do his job. Vivi remains firm in her stance, though, prompting Wapol to try and calm her down by reminding her they will not have anywhere else to go if they anger him too much.
Still, Morgans admits he does not mind telling everyone that the world is going to sink too, but he personally is not affected since he lives in the air. Once again, Vivi refuses to back down against Morgans as he starts listing off potential headlines: Blackbeard vs. Law, Shanks vs. Kid, and Luffy having killed Dr. Vegapunk himself, which Vivi knows is not true.

On Egghead, Sakazuki tries to contact someone about the situation, while Sentomaru escapes and heads out to sea on a rowboat. Kizaru picks up the Den Den Mushi and tells Sakazuki that everyone is unconscious, but he promises to give him a full report about the events on the island once everyone is awake. Sakazuki tells Kizaru he hopes he did not do a sloppy job, but Kizaru asks him if he has ever killed a close friend, as Kizaru thinks back to when he first met Dr. Vegapunk, having been sent to “arrest” him, but Dr. Vegapunk knew it was just a cover to exploit his intellect.
He also remembered helping Dr. Vegapunk create Egghead Island. With tears in his eyes, Kizaru angrily tells Sakazuki to come down to Egghead to see for himself whether or not Kizaru messed up, which causes Sakazuki to relent. On the Thousand Sunny, which is tethered to the Giants’ ship, Jinbe tells Franky he did not expect Luffy to be so depressed he failed to save the Stella. Franky admits with everything they encountered on the island, from meeting the Five Elders, to dealing with Kizaru, CP0, the Seraphim, and a whole blockade of battleships, he still cannot believe they were barely able to escape.
Zoro, who was also on the ship, cruelly calls Luffy pathetic for getting all mopey over Dr. Vegapunk’s death. Speaking of, Lilith wakes up on the Giants’ ship, surrounded by Usopp, Chopper, Nami, and Sanji. The four of them deeply apologize to Lilith for being only able to save her, but she says she has heard the whole story, which confuses everyone. After taking a minute to cry, Lilith says she is hungry, but when she goes to the table, she sees Luffy sadly eating, upset he could not keep his word to Dr. Vegapunk. Lilith tells everyone that she cried earlier because she was sad about everyone’s deaths, but she then tells them they only “died” by their concept. According to Lilith, the Stella and the other Satellites (sans York) are still alive. Though her words still confuse everyone, she says the main point is that Luffy did somewhat keep his promise, so he should cheer up. Sure enough, Luffy perks up and thanks the Giants for coming to their rescue before beginning their proper feast. When the Giants ask Luffy who he thinks will become the Pirate King and claim the One Piece, Luffy proudly states it will be him. With that, the ship makes its way to Elbaph, where someone seems to be waiting for Luffy to arrive.
