Introduction
"Soul King" Brook is the musician of the Straw Hat Pirates, one of their two swordsmen, and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is the ninth member of the crew and the eighth to join, doing so at the end of the Thriller Bark Arc. Brook ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi, which allowed him to return to life after death once. Brook eventually learned to tap deeper into the powers of his Devil Fruit, giving him significant control over his own soul and the souls of others. Originally a member of the Rumbar Pirates, he died and was resurrected through the power of the Yomi Yomi no Mi. However, due to the amount of time it took for his soul to find his body, it was reduced to a skeleton, keeping only his afro intact. Brook drifted alone in the Florian Triangle for 50 years, eventually meeting Luffy and serving as the Straw Hats' ally during the Thriller Bark Arc before officially joining the crew. His dream is to reunite with his old friend, Laboon, at Reverse Mountain, where he resides with Crocus. He first gained a bounty of 33,000,000 during his time as a member of the Rumbar Pirates. It later increased to 83,000,000 after the Dressrosa Arc. Following the Raid on Onigashima, his bounty was increased to 383,000,000. Appearance
Before Death
Before his death, Brook was a tall, tan, skinny man who had a rather distinctive face. He had a slight goatee on his chin and some sideburns. He typically wore shades never revealing his eyes. On his forehead was a scar that slightly resembled a diagonal omega sign (Ω). This scar was retained in his skeletal state as a distinctive crack across his skull. Brook's facial appearance, accompanied by his style of clothing, resembles a type of appearance and style that is commonly associated with various music artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, Slash, and other musical celebrities with similar features.
Before The Timeskip
Brook is an extremely tall skeleton dressed in formal attire complete with a top hat and cane. Standing at 266 cm (8'8½") in height, he is the second tallest member of the Straw Hat crew, having been edged out by Jinbe. Despite having no skin, he still has an afro which he says is because his hair has very strong roots. Brook's style was that of a gentleman consisting of a coat, top hat, trousers, and afro, which were black, while the inner linings of his coat were yellow-orange. The cravat that was tied in between his coat and around his neck was blue. The outer covering of Brook's cane sword which he carries was purple. Also, due to his many years of seclusion, his clothes were somewhat tattered.
After The Timeskip
During the Return to Sabaody Arc through Fish-Man Island Arc, he changed to more colorful and high-end clothes, as though to represent a rock star. He had heart-shaped sunglasses, a yellow feather boa, a new top hat with a giant crown on the brim, and orange-red trousers with a floral design. Despite being a skeleton, he grew to 277 cm (9'1") during the two-year timeskip. During the Punk Hazard Arc, he wore a flashy striped coat, after taking it from a member of Brownbeard's Centaur Patrol Unit. During the Dressrosa Arc, he wore a dark magenta long coat with an upturned collar in addition to yellow pants. While shown on Zou during this arc, his second outfit consisted of a pink shirt with a white polka dot pattern (which resembles the circles on the SMILE fruits), orange and yellow striped trousers, and pointed dark-colored shoes. He also donned his original pre-timeskip top hat, and a blue bead necklace, and he swapped his heart-shaped sunglasses for a more traditional black pair. During the Zou Arc, he added a dark-colored coat with a fluffy lining to his second Dressrosa outfit along with a larger top hat embellished with beads. Due to being chased and chewed on by his canine Mink admirers, his coat had become somewhat tattered by the time he met up with Luffy's group. During the Whole Cake Island Arc, he wore a long, fancy overcoat with puffy sleeves and tall black boots. He also wrapped a decorative scarf around his head and donned a pair of plain black shades. Later on, after the Big Mom Pirates stripped him of his clothes, he wore a simple sleeveless cloak with a rope tied around the neck to fasten it. When meeting with the Fire Tank Pirates, he dons a large fedora, a black and red striped vest along with a dark shirt, yellow ascot, and brown trousers. When he took part in the operation to ruin Big Mom's Tea Party, Brook disguised himself among the Luffy clones created by Charlotte Brûlée's powers by wearing an oversized Luffy mask and hat tied with a string, which got him close enough to destroy Carmel's photo. During the Wano Country Arc, Kin'emon used his ability to change Brook's appearance so he could blend in with the country. Brook now wears a pure white kimono, with a triangle-shaped headband and two arrows stuck in his body – an appearance befitting of a ghost, as Kurozumi Orochi's Oniwabanshu members mistake him as a gasha-dokuro. Before the Raid on Onigashima, Brook wore samurai armor complete with a kabuto helmet and cape. He also wields a katana rather than his shikomizue. When departing for Onigashima, Brook traded his samurai armor with a black vest and cravat and also a top hat. Like everyone else participating in the raid, Kin'emon gave Brook a Beasts Pirates disguise with a dark-colored furred coat and one-horned hat. During the Egghead Arc, after reaching the control tower, Brook changes into a thick long yellow coat with the number 3 on it, along with a futuristic helmet with goggles, an antenna, and a chinstrap on it. He also wears a pair of orange gloves and a pair of black DOM Shoes. During the Elbaph Arc, Brook is gifted with Viking style attire made by Gerd. His outfit consists of a long, armored leather patchwork vest with a dark, long sleeved leather shirt underneath, with matching leather pants, fur boots, a kilt with a large decorative skull on the front, a pair of light-colored gloves, a long dark fur cape, and his cane sword placed in a decorative sword hilt and sheath with a matching decorative shield, both of which are stripped to Brook's back with a large leather belt. Finally, Brook's outfit is completed with a unstrapped Viking helmet with cone-like horns, and a pair of googles on top of the helmet.

Brook/Personality And Relationships
Introduction
Personality
Summary
Brook is an eccentric character with a distinct personality of his own, like the other Straw Hat Pirates. While he looks like and fancies himself to be a gentleman, he does possess vulgar and perverted manners and habits such as asking to see women's panties (Although in Camie's case, in a subversion of his usual habit, he asks if she can lend him some money), yelling impatiently for food (a trait shared by Luffy), and occasionally burping and farting conspicuously. Despite this behavior, he still remains very polite, formal, and soft-spoken, usually referring to people using the respectful "-san" ("Sir") and always speaks to everyone, even enemies, in a very courteous manner. He appreciates the simplest of things: from a gesture of kindness, the company of others, and walking in the sunlight after receiving his shadow back. Brook was moved to tears at just being able to share a dinner with people after decades alone in the Florian Triangle. Despite his eccentric behavior, Brook is an extremely upright and compassionate person befitting of a true gentleman, as Brook utterly disdains wickedness and cruelty. When Zeo began to ruthlessly assault his own men, Brook even defended one of the enemies from Zeo's attack, reprimanding Zeo for his cruelty. Brook's compassion is shown in Zou where he was horrified by the immense devastation the Beasts Pirates caused. He readily helped the badly injured minks along with his crew mates. After Luffy arrived at Zou, Brook gave specific instructions not to mention anything about Wano and samurais out of consideration for the minks. He even beat up Luffy for mentioning Raizo out loud, although it turned out to be for nothing. After Yasuie was executed, Brook was solemn and sympathetic when Hiyori explained how the citizens of Ebisu Town lost the ability to feel or express sadness and despair after being fed faulty SMILE fruits by Kurozumi Orochi as part of his twisted tyranny.
Skull Jokes
His reactions to different occurrences can be somewhat extreme, often comically so. For example, when the Straw Hats were alarmed at him for being a living skeleton, he forgot the object of fear was actually himself and also began to panic. Although he tends to display more extreme emotions at times, Brook has been known to over-relax when he is told to stay calm. He is also very patient, having stayed on his former crew's ship for years, waiting for the day when he would eventually be reunited with his shadow. However, due to his rudeness, he can also be impatient about things like waiting for dinner to be served. Brook's most notable trait amongst others, however, is that he cracks "skull jokes" about himself being a skeleton complimented with his distinct laughter of "Yohohoho" even if there is no one around to hear him. (e.g. "I can't believe my eyes! Not that I have eyes!") When Chopper broke one of his jokes by saying what he intended to say beforehand, Brook became temporarily depressed. While stuck in the Florian Triangle, Brook discovered his skeletal body was now very limber and developed a strange gag to keep himself entertained – going completely rigid and then leaning against a wall or object at a 45-degree angle. Though he mainly uses it to show it off in front of people and his crew just for a laugh, Brook later turned this into one of his signature poses as the Soul King. He has sometimes practiced and attempted to tilt in even further than 45-degrees, but if he makes the angle too acute, he will lose his balance and slip. He can even run around in circles while maintaining this pose- when Nami had him be a lookout as half the crew was headed for Zou, Brook struck his 45-degrees pose and didn't check any other angle, causing Nami to yell at him to look in every direction, so Brook began a 45-degree rotation, annoying her with his antics until she attacked him.
Love For Music
Brook is a great lover of music. In times of joy or sorrow, music is what generally keeps Brook going. When he was about to die during his first life with his fellow members of the Rumbar Pirates, Brook suggested playing and singing a song with their last breath. As a result, his love for music often reflects itself in various other aspects of his character, such as in his fighting style wherein the names of his attacks are derived from various songs and dances. He gave himself a musical theme so noticeable that while he was alive in his first life, he was called "Humming Brook" by the authorities. In contrast to the other cowardly crew members' own fears – Usopp's being out of insecurity, Nami's as a survival instinct, and Chopper's from cautiousness – Brook's fear is more down to Earth; he fears the things that are not normal. An example would be that Brook is easily scared by the ghosts and zombies (despite technically being deceased himself). In order to fight the various Thriller Bark creatures without fear when he encountered them, Brook convinced himself that if he sings while fighting, he would not be afraid of them (though he starts running in fear when he stops singing). This singing while fighting, however, had a side effect of making him seem like a more sinister creature to the zombies – a rather ironic fact due to him being the contrary and the fact the song he sings during battle being one of life and joy than one of ominous threat and evil as perceived by them. Because of this, despite his equal fear he was given the name of "Humming Swordsman" by the zombies and was ironically feared by them in turn. He apparently does not like moving fast, evident when he was in the more intense rides at Sabaody Park. Linked to this is moving at high speeds via the Flying Fish Riders flying fish or theme park rides and fighting a Pacifista cyborg there was little chance to win against. Comically, most of these fears are things he himself has the potential to unintentionally cause, such as being an almost living skeleton that can run so fast that most people would have little chance to win against. Before encountering the Straw Hats, Brook was very lonely while floating adrift on his ship and longed for the company of other people. He initially accepted Luffy's offer to join the crew and invited himself over for dinner upon arriving on board the Thousand Sunny just so he could interact with the crew and fill the void that he experienced all those years. Also, while possibly one of the oldest pirates "alive", Brook still retains an air of childishness about him that enables him to behave in a manner similar to Luffy and Chopper, noted by the ease with which he participates in their childlike antics.
Running Gags
His distinct personality and laughter allowed Nami, Usopp, and Chopper question a "guardian" of Hogback's lab, Ryuma, who had Brook's signature laughter and personality. This was because Ryuma possessed Brook's shadow until the samurai was defeated by Zoro, upon which Brook's shadow was returned to its rightful place. Awkwardly, Brook has a tendency to lack common sense in slightly frantic times. For example, when Luffy falls into the water, Brook (and Chopper for that matter) jumps into the water, despite being a Devil Fruit user himself. He also has a tendency to accidentally go on rides that go obviously fast and sit out on slower rides. He appears to take offense if someone avoids him because he does not have any "substance". During the Punk Hazard Arc, Brook grew furious at a dragon for rejecting him, claiming that bones have plenty of nutrition. However, during the Zou Arc, most of the canine minks from the Mink Tribe constantly bit Brook due to him being made of bones, which he did not enjoy at all.
Value On Life
Brook believes in and has quoted the philosophy "Good things come to those who wait", given the years he spent on the ghost ship, joining the Straw Hats, and learning of Laboon's patience. However, one issue he has stood by is the act of wasting lives. As he had experienced death himself once before, he knows more than most about the consequences of dying. Therefore, he has a deep hatred for those who do not value life whatsoever, whether it's their own, others or both. Also, like his captain, he strongly dislikes leaders who would kill their own subordinates on a whim as well. He shares a very strong emphasis on keeping promises and friendship, as he would do everything in his power to reunite and fulfill his promise to Laboon his long-lost friend, something Franky had complimented him upon. Though he is prone to being childish, he proves a loyal and fearless friend. An example of this is when he was standing between Usopp and a Pacifista stating that he shall protect him even though he knew his chances of survival were slim. Even Zoro has quietly acknowledged that Brook is a true man to his heart, facing down odds that are near impossible unflinchingly to save a friend. As possibly the ultimate example of this, he shows absolutely no fear in the face of Big Mom, an Emperor, who is specifically able to use an opponent's fear against them. He even goes so far as to call her "young lady" during their fight, an unprecedented sign of contempt for someone of an Emperor's status.
Amorous Nature
Like Sanji, Brook's mind is often filled with lecherous thoughts. Ironically for his relationship with Sanji, however, two women whose beauty Brook has explicitly complimented are Vinsmoke Reiju (Sanji's elder sister) and Charlotte Pudding (Sanji's ex-arranged bride); in the case of Reiju, Brook even expressed regret at not having lips with which to receive a kiss from Reiju. Brook is also chivalrously protective over women (as is Sanji), as he chastised the New Fish-Man Pirates for aiming their firearms at Shirahoshi. However, unlike Sanji, Brook is not against fighting a woman to protect his friends or to complete an important objective. He defeated Giolla to cancel the effects of her Devil Fruit powers and battled against Big Mom to keep the copied writings of the Poneglyphs safe. Likewise, he became jealous when Kouzuki Momonosuke used his young age to his advantage to get intimate with the girls, and gleefully mocked a grown-up Momonosuke when he tried it again and failed. Though he knows other songs, Brook's favorite song to sing is "Binks' Sake" which he was singing upon his first appearance. Even when he asks for requests from the others, he seemed to instantly switch over to singing this song. Other songs Brook sings include "Black Handkerchief of Happiness" and his own originals, "Bone To Be Wild" and "New World". Brook is also clever enough to trick Giolla into turning his weapon back to normal by pretending to side with her. He loves to drink tea, as he is often seen holding a cup of tea. Brook's attitude of waking up the crew in person is seen when he woke the Rumbar Pirates with his song "White Handkerchief", much to his old crew's annoyance. His attitude carries on to the Straw Hats when he woke them up in person, much to their annoyance once again.
Relationships
Straw Hat Pirates
Summary
The Straw Hats were immediately wary of Brook prior to his initial entry into the crew (save for Luffy, who invited him on board the Thousand Sunny), but this changes after the events of Thriller Bark. Despite his obnoxious personality, Brook deeply cares for his crew, going so far to protect Usopp and Sanji from Kuma. His eccentric personality often gets on the crew's nerves, showing no appropriate respect for Nami and even Robin when he asks to see their panties, and makes skull jokes in serious situations which often lead to him being beaten up, even shattering Robin's normally limitless patience. This is likely due to his long years of isolation with no real human contact. Nevertheless, Brook's sense of humor and music can enlighten an organization as big as the Thriller Bark Victim's Association. Franky is moved to tears upon hearing Brook's backstory, and the rest of the Straw Hats gain respect for him, even Usopp and Chopper who were initially afraid of him, after hearing about his devotion to keeping his promise to Laboon. During Brook's fight with Charlotte Linlin, he says that the "worst case scenario" for the Sanji's Retrieval Team is if Sanji deciding to not rejoin the crew, and when asked about it by Big Mom, he refused to presume that any of his friends would die during their mission.
Monkey D Luffy
Before he officially joined the crew, only Luffy made friends with him, due to finding him hilarious as well as being amazed to see a living skeleton. The two even goofed around in the same manner during their dinner on the Sunny. As Brook explained his thoughts, Luffy was not afraid of him and even offered him a place on his crew. This was enough to make Brook happy after being alone in the dark for so many years. Brook seems to respect Luffy a lot and unlike most of the crew members, he follows the captain's rules without question. His loyalty to his captain is so great that Brook publicly declares that he only receives orders from Luffy, When Momonosuke demanded that Brook do some entertainment, Brook quickly refused, stating that he only took orders from Luffy. Furthermore, while being threatened with becoming a music slave by Gunko of the God's Knights, Brook declared that he would rather die than live without honor due to his loyalty of Luffy. Indeed, after the timeskip, Brook gave up the life of a music star to rejoin the Straw Hats as he was indebted to them and Luffy for accepting him. He was also amazed at his captain's improved strength as he defeated Surume. His loyalty still remains and is even fiercer as he told Zeo that his captain will become the Pirate King. After hearing his captain's dream that he wanted to accomplish by becoming Pirate King, Brook laughed and said he was too much, but supported Luffy's goal, nonetheless. During Brook's fight with Charlotte Linlin, he described Luffy as someone who would break through any and all walls in order to pursue his beliefs and ambitions, showing his admiration for his captain's spirit.
Roronoa Zoro
In their first meeting, Zoro was very disturbed and confused by Brook's skeletal appearance but after hearing about Brook's connection to Laboon and saving him from Ryuma, Zoro began to enjoy the undead skeleton's company. Brook is indebted to Zoro for defeating the undead samurai which gave Brook back his shadow and Brook was further amazed when Zoro along with Sanji offered their own lives instead of Luffy's to Kuma. Brook also shared a laugh with Zoro about his recent induction into the crew, stating the skeleton had bad luck. After Zoro recovered from his pain, Brook informed him of his entry in the crew as Zoro jokingly told him to be prepared for the craziness it holds. As the two swordsmen of the Straw Hats, Brook and Zoro get along very well. Brook is in awe of Zoro's sword skills, although Brook is 69 years older than Zoro. After the timeskip, they still get along though they argued on Punk Hazard when Zoro called him "grandpa". He recently became jealous from seeing Zoro sleeping with Kouzuki Hiyori despite Zoro stating that nothing happened.
Nami
Nami was terrified of Brook when she first saw the skeleton and hid behind Sanji, but after she got to know him better, they formed a rather comical relationship. He can often be seen with Nami, as well as the "weaker" members of the crew (Chopper and Usopp) crying over scary situations, such as when Donquixote Doflamingo closes in on the Thousand Sunny for an attack. A recurring gag between Brook and Nami is that Nami will often kick Brook in anger when he asks her or any other female to show him their panties; to which her response usually entails something like, "As if!" or "Why the hell would I?!". Even after 2 years, she declared that she will never let Brook to see her panties. As she will with other crewmates, Nami will hug onto Brook when she is scared (much to Brook's joy). Nami trusts Brook as much as she trusts the rest of her crew. She also enjoys listening to his music. She was also impressed that he managed to copy Big Mom's Poneglyphs, hugging him and congratulating him for his success though she kicked him when he asked to see her panties as a reward. Nami can be very rude and short-tempered with Brook at times, albeit the skeleton often gives her reasons to be angry at him due to his comical and perverted nature towards her and the other women (such as Robin, Camie, Shirahoshi, Vivi, Reiju, Pudding and Smoothie). This frequently leads to Nami hitting him over the head.
Usopp
Usopp was naturally terrified of Brook when he first appeared on the crew and tried to ward him off with a crucifix, being against the idea of Brook joining the crew even after finding out he was harmless. Usopp at the time stated "I wouldn't be able to sleep with a skeleton walking around". Only after hearing about Brook's connection with Laboon and subsequent battle at Thriller Bark, did Usopp finally trust the musical skeleton, accepting Brook as a crewmate. Usopp loves when Brook plays songs, in particular "Binks' Sake". Usopp, like the rest of the crew (except Luffy), finds Brook's skull jokes annoying, especially when they are unbelievable like Brook trying to heal himself with milk, saying that calcium doesn't work that fast. After the timeskip, Usopp admitted to being jealous of Brook's new ability to phase through walls, citing its perversion potential. However, Usopp was angry with Brook when Brook unknowingly made an insensitive joke about Arlong during their first encounter with Hody Jones, as Usopp is aware of the emotional pain Arlong caused Nami in the past, something Brook is unaware of.
Sanji
Sanji was one of the first members of the crew to meet Brook. He was shocked to see a walking and talking skeleton, and questioned Brook on how he came to be. Sanji couldn't understand why Brook seemed so constantly upbeat, telling the skeleton that his life was depressing, but the skeleton laughed him off. After Sanji learns about Brook's connection with Laboon, Sanji joined the rest of the crew in supporting Luffy's decision to recruit him into the crew. Sanji still gets irritated at Brook's immature character traits, including his burping and farting during dinner, and by his lame 'skull jokes'. He also once threatened to attack Brook when the latter laughed at the resemblance between Duval and Sanji's first, hand-drawn wanted poster. However, Sanji has a lot of similarities to the un-dead musician. Both of them wear suits and act like gentlemen and fawn over Nami and Robin, making them the "pervert duo" of the Straw Hats. While they do fight over Nami and Robin's affection, the cook and the skeleton are good friends and were both (along with Kin'emon) very jealous of Momonosuke's "special attention" from the ladies. Brook looks up to Sanji and was in awe when the cook battled Doflamingo and was even prepared to aid him when Sanji was in trouble, but Sanji instead trusted Brook to look after Momonosuke, Nami, and Chopper. Brook was very depressed over the outcome of events in Zou and insisted on joining Luffy in the Sanji Retrieval Team as he felt responsible for Sanji's capture. Like Robin, Brook was aware of the Vinsmokes and never thought Sanji would be connected to such an infamous family. Along with the others, Brook showed great surprise that Sanji turned down Pudding. Sanji appears to have a lot of trust in Brook's strength as he once entrusted Nami's safety to the skeleton while he went on to explore Claw City. Brook was also the only crewmate Sanji asked to accompany him when he had to deal with Pekoms and Capone Bege. On a more humorous note, Brook was also very jealous of Sanji after meeting Charlotte Pudding, Sanji's arranged bride, and was instantly attracted to Sanji's sister; Vinsmoke Reiju. During Brook's fight with Charlotte Linlin, he described Sanji as a kind man that would refuse to budge once he decided to sacrifice himself for the sake of other, showing his admiration for the chef's spirit. He claims that his mission to retrieve the information from Big Mom's Road Poneglyph is so Sanji wouldn't feel like his friends' journey was for nothing. After Sanji's return, Brook was more than happy to have his cooking again, and during the Raid on Onigashima, Brook freed Sanji from Black Maria's clutches alongside Robin. After the Raid, Brook and Sanji happily mocked Momonosuke now that his "special attention" from Nami and the other ladies was gone now that he was older, and together they mockingly welcomed him to adulthood.
Tony Tony Chopper
When Chopper first met Brook, he was terrified of him because he was a walking, talking skeleton and agreed with Usopp that he would not accept him as a crewmate. But after hearing the story about Brook and Laboon, Chopper cried and stated he was not afraid of skeletons anymore. Chopper and Brook get along very well despite Brook being the oldest Straw Hat and Chopper being the youngest. Chopper loves the undead skeleton's music and will often dance to it. When Chopper was infected by the Ice Oni disease during the raid on Onigashima, Brook was afraid that Chopper was going to die.
Nico Robin
When they first met, Robin stood there emotionless and, similarly to how she responds to Sanji's advances, did nothing when Brook asked to see her panties. Robin did find Brook annoying when he started cracking jokes instead of telling them how to stop Zombies and had difficulty stopping Franky from hurting him (she eventually let Franky do so). Nonetheless, they are on comfortable, friendly terms with each other. Robin seems to hold Brook to high standards as the oldest member of the crew and finds it slightly annoying when he doesn't act his age. With that said, however, she is still very fond of Brook and especially his music. After the timeskip, they still get along with each other, and she was surprised to learn that he was now a world famous rockstar, and even more surprised that he was willing to abandon his new life of fame to be a pirate again. On Punk Hazard, Brook was the one who saved Robin and her group from freezing in the river by Brownbeard and his crew. During the Raid on Onigashima, Robin paired up with Brook as they went to save Sanji from Black Maria. During which, they proved to be an effective team, working flawlessly with one another and even displaying a great deal of trust and confidence in each other's abilities. During this time, Brook and Robin even pointed out to each other that they have a lot in common, and that they both lost everyone they previously loved and spent decades alone until they joined the Straw Hat Pirates. Brook trusted Robin enough to let her fight Black Maria, one of the Tobiroppo, by herself, while he dealt with the remaining Beast Pirates members, and after which he was there to carry her when she became exhausted from her fight. Brook also successfully protected Robin from getting captured by CP0 and helped her escape from their pursuits. When confronting Jaygarcia Saturn, Brook protected Robin again.
Franky
At first, Franky seemed to be very annoyed with Brook's skull jokes, often threatening to shoot Brook when he did them, as well as beating up Brook on Thriller Bark after he went too far. He soon questioned Brook about his past and after listening to his story, he became rather fond of him. This led Franky into accompanying Zoro to head after Ryuma to help get Brook's shadow back. After the battle against Gecko Moria had ended, Franky, alongside Usopp, built an impressive memorial grave for the Rumbar Pirates which deeply moved Brook. After Brook's entry in the crew, the two get along very well. After the timeskip, Franky revealed that he was aware of Brook's status as a famous musician, expressing an unsure attitude of him returning to a life of piracy. He was soon surprised that Brook actually gave up such a life and welcomed him back to the crew when they reunited. They still get along and often share jokes. The two get along very well, with Franky and Brook sharing a love of music, as during the Raid on Onigashima, the two charged in on the Kurosai FR-U IV, casually singing together as they saved Nami from Big Mom and Zeus, as they ran over Big Mom in the process, and Brook proceeded to cut through Zeus while he was at it.
Jinbe
Brook, along with the rest of the crew besides Luffy, met Jinbe first on Fish-Man Island. He like the others had no problem with Jinbe joining the crew when Luffy asked and was understanding when Jinbe refused at the time due to having unfinished business. When Jinbe had retracted his attempt to leave the Big Mom Pirates, Brook thought something was wrong as he thought the Jinbe he came to know is not a coward as the Totto Land News made him out to be and was more understanding of Jinbe's decision than the scorning citizens of Totto Land. The respect is reciprocated on Jinbe's side, as he complimented on how Brook faced an Emperor and hid the Poneglyph copies from her. When Jinbe told the Sanji Retrieval Team to press forward after Pedro sacrificed himself, Brook was at first infuriated that Jinbe was acting so insensitively to a comrade's death before being told that it was what Pedro would have wanted. When Jinbe finally returned on the day of the Raid of Onigashima, Brook along with the other members of the Sanji retrieval team and the rest of the crew were delighted by his return and happily welcomed him into the crew.
Rumbar Pirates
As a member and eventually the second captain of the Rumbar Pirates, Brook and his crew were very close friends, and was akin to family. They all enjoyed music and each other's company, and Brook was amongst the sad when Captain Yorki and half of the crew contracted an incurable illness that forced them to be separated to prevent it from spreading to the other half. The remainder of the crew trusted Brook to the point of appointing him as the succeeding captain. When the remainder were wiped out by a force that used poisoned weapons against them, Brook alone shouldered the crew's promise to reunite with Laboon and became lonely and depressed when everyone else died. Brook never forgot them, even after he revived and spent the next 50 years alone in the Florian Triangle, his memories of them alongside his music helped him get through those times. His dream of reuniting with Laboon, playing the crew's final song for him also stems from the promise he and the entire crew made with Laboon, and as the sole survivor, he is determined to keep his promise not only for his own sake, but in honor of his fallen crewmates as well. After the events of the Thriller Bark Arc, Usopp and Franky made a tombstone and a gravesite on Thriller Bark to hold all of the coffins of the dead Rumbar Pirates aboard Brook's ship. Brook greatly appreciated this as he could finally give them a proper burial and pay his respects. Brook also remarks that it was suitable that his crew would be buried at Thriller Bark since it came from their homeland of the West Blue. Brook then began to pay his final respects by playing one last song at their graves, with Zoro later showing up to place his broken sword there as well, asking Brook to play a song for his sword as well, and staying with Brook to finish paying their respects. Even after joining the Straw Hats, Brook still remembers his old crew fondly and has not forgotten about them at all, to the point of being unaffected by the illusions of them caused by Black Maria's illusion mist, stating that he was already used to seeing them due to the years he spent in the Florian Triangle.
Friends
Laboon
Over fifty years earlier, Laboon met the Rumbar Pirates after becoming lost and separated from his pod and began following them in his loneliness. After a while they notice how sad he looked, and they cheered him up by singing and as a result he continued to follow them. The crew grew attached to him because he was "cute". Eventually, while feeding him bait, Brook named him "Laboon". He was accepted as a crew member and even aided them when an attack left a few crew members having fallen overboard and no one else could help them. Brook cares a lot about his afro. Because it is the only part of him that did not rot away after he died, it means a lot to him. It is the only thing he believes that Laboon would still recognize him by after fifty years. Since it will not ever grow back again should it be cut, Brook is extremely protective of it. Because of the promise Brook and the rest of his crew made to Laboon, Brook feels obligated to meet up with Laboon in order to fulfill that promise. He feels that Laboon would not forgive them for dying irresponsibly in the Grand Line. Brook later learned from the Straw Hats that Laboon is still waiting at the Twin Capes, resulting in him becoming overjoyed that he can now continue his late crew's promise. During the From the Decks of the World: The 500,000,000 Man Arc, Laboon is shown very happy after learning of Brook's new bounty indicating he is aware of Brook's survival and involvement with the Straw Hats.
Crocus
Fifty years before the current storyline, Brook first met Crocus when the Rumbar Pirates entered the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain from the West Blue during which time he became acquainted with Brook and his crew while they were staying with him at Twin Capes Lighthouse as their ship was being fixed in preparation for their journey into the Grand Line. Since Laboon was too young to follow them, the Rumbar Pirates entrusted the young whale to Crocus. Crocus agreed to watch over Laboon until the pirates came back from sailing around the world and came back down Reverse Mountain again. However, despite Brook and his crew's promise to come back after two to three years, Crocus did not meet them again at the promised time and waited much longer. Twenty-six years before the current storyline, Crocus ended up joining the Roger Pirates in order to find out what happened to Brook and the rest of the Rumbar Pirates. Crocus discovered a report that stated that some of the Rumbar Pirates had tried to escape the Grand Line through the Calm Belt. Crocus believed that the entire crew had fled the Grand Line in cowardice and broken their promise to return to Laboon, unaware of their tragedies and Brook's condition. After the Roger Pirates disbanded, Crocus returned to Twin Capes to tell Laboon what he believed had happened to Brook and the crew. However, Laboon refused to believe him and started bashing against Reverse Mountain in an attempt to rejoin his pirate comrades. Despite his belief that the crew had broken its promise to Laboon, Crocus continued to care for the whale in their place. It is unknown if Crocus has learned of Brook's survival since he became the world-famous musician, Soul King. However, during the From the Decks of the World: The 500,000,000 Man Arc, he and Laboon were seen reading a newspaper detailing the Straw Hats new bounties. It can be assumed Crocus now knows of Brook's current condition and his status as one of the Straw Hat Pirates. When Brook heard from Silvers Rayleigh of how Crocus went out to sea in order to search for the Rumbar Pirates, it made him cry in gratitude for his efforts for them.
Fans
During the two-year timeskip, Brook became a world-famous celebrity and had flourished so much in his career as a music star. By the time he was seen again in Sabaody, he was ready to conduct his final concert for his hardcore fans before returning into piracy once again. His fans were shown to be quite devoted to him, tolerating the fact that he was a walking, moving skeleton, and were greatly saddened when the Marines publicly declared Brook's past identity as a pirate and possible membership in the crew of the Straw Hat Pirates. They were even willing to brush off the attempts of the Marines to apprehend Brook when he announced that he will perform one final song for them to hear. His popularity even reached the World Nobles, specifically Gunko of the God's Knights, who wanted to make Brook her slave to compose new songs solely for her.
Mink Tribe
Due to his group's efforts in saving the Mink Tribe after they were devastated by an attack from Jack, Brook and his crew are considered as saviors to the minks. Therefore, they formed a harmonic relationship. Because Brook is literally made only of bones, he gets scared whenever he would come face-to-face with the "Canine" species of the minks. In turn, they call him "Baron Corpse" to show affection to the person they love to bite on so much. When Brook was departing Zou on a quest to rescue Sanji from Big Mom, many of the canine minks requested to be allowed to accompany the Sanji Retrieval Team just so they could continue chewing on Brook's bones.
Pedro
Pedro joined the Sanji rescue attempt from the Big Mom Pirates and was paired with Brook as a side mission to get Big Mom's Road Poneglyph. Brook and Pedro both agreed that Pedro will be used as a distraction so that Brook would copy the Poneglyph information, an act that Brook considers as another reason to complete his task and "save face". When Pedro and the others rescued Brook from Big Mom, Pedro apologized to Brook for putting him through so much danger with the Emperor, but Brook revealed that he accomplished his task and thanked Pedro for his efforts. When Pedro sacrificed himself in a kamikaze attack against Charlotte Perospero to give the Straw Hats an opening to escape, Brook was among the ones who mourned for him. When Jinbe spoke in such a way that made them think they should just look past this and move forward, Brook was angry at Jinbe for taking Pedro's death so lightly.
Enemies
Summary
While alive, Brook encountered many enemies during his journey through West Blue and the Grand Line, including the group that killed him and his crewmates.
Marines
He also received a bounty from the Marines in this time, and due to his managers betraying him, Brook's existence as a pirate and affiliation to the Straw Hats has been revealed to the Marines. His bounty remains active and following the defeat of the Donquixote Pirates, he receives a new bounty and wanted poster (which uses one of the promotional posters from his concerts) along with the rest of the Straw Hat crew.
Thriller Bark Pirates
Because of the mess he made five years prior to the Straw Hats' arrival at Thriller Bark, three of the Mysterious Four knew how troublesome he was. Dr. Hogback, in particular, greatly feared him, mainly because Brook once had him at sword point and learned the weakness of the zombies. Only Perona did not know of his doings because she was asleep at the time and ignored Kumashi's attempts to wake her.
Ryuma
Brook's main enemy from his time on Thriller Bark was Shimotsuki Ryuma, the zombie that was animated with his shadow. After Brook was set adrift at sea, he returned to the island in search for his shadow. After causing some problems on the island, Brook came across Ryuma who possessed his shadow, and while they shared the same techniques, Ryuma had the stronger body and was able to best Brook at his own fighting style. Knowing that he could not kill Brook (because if the original owner of the shadow is killed, their shadow is destroyed and the zombie becomes a lifeless corpse again), Ryuma let Brook go with a broken skull. Later, while sitting down and drinking tea in Hogback's lab, Ryuma is confronted by Brook. The skeleton then challenged Ryuma to a duel. After several bone shattering strikes, Ryuma easily defeats Brook with his own style. Ryuma then grabs Brook's afro and decides to cut it off as a final blow towards the skeleton. However just before Ryuma could cut off the afro, the entire island suddenly shakes and makes Ryuma lose his grip on the afro. Franky then arrives in the lab to tend to Brook. Ryuma, upon regaining his balance, attacks both Franky and Brook. However, before it hits its mark, Zoro blocks Ryuma’s attack and challenges to fight Ryuma himself in Brook's stead.
Managers
Brook's managers were bandits on Namakura Island, led by Sancrin. Two years ago, they used to steal and kidnap from the people of Namakura Island until they were virtually penniless. After kidnapping a young girl, Brook wrote a song that encouraged the locals to fight back and capture their tormentors. The people of Harahettania planned on displaying them as freaks, but were convinced by Brook to let them go. However, as a result, they kidnapped Brook and instead put him on display as a freak show at their home island of Kenzan Island. They were worried at first when he did not move and asked him to do so. They were then surprised when he suddenly started performing for everyone. Two years later they have apparently become quite close with Brook, as they are now dressed up in suits and have become his managers; however, it was soon revealed that this was only because they only saw him useful for getting rich, as after Brook informed them about his plans for retirement, they betrayed him by calling the Marines (in spite of this, Brook was still grateful for their care over the last two years). They were last seen at the concert hall, furious about Brook's escape. During From the Decks of the World: The 500,000,000 Man Arc, they are shown stabbing Brook's new wanted poster which clearly shows they are still angry at him for leaving them.
Charlotte Linlin
When Brook came face to face with Big Mom, he was truly terrified at seeing one of the Four Emperors, whereas Big Mom was very interested in Brook being a living skeleton. During their fight, Big Mom overwhelmed him and soon questioned Brook's motives before ridiculing his optimism. Brook told her not to underestimate the will of his crew before standing firmly to tell her that he will be taking the Poneglyphs in her possession. During the fight, Brook managed to damage Prometheus, a feat which Big Mom unabashedly praised later. Despite Brook's efforts, he was defeated by the Emperor who mocked him by treating him as if he were a pet as the latter felt humiliated by his loss. Brook was further shocked when he listened as Big Mom conversed with Pudding about their intention to slaughter the entire Vinsmoke Family, Sanji included, during the faux-wedding ceremony. Despite his defeat, Brook was able to create copies of the Poneglyph text before Big Mom caught up with him, and with the help of his comrades, ultimately escaped from her grasp with them. Charlotte Brûlée and Diesel were shocked and horrified at this revelation. During the tea party, Brook dealt a powerful blow to Big Mom by disguising himself as one of Luffy's duplicates, slipping past her, and destroying the picture of Mother Carmel, her most treasured item. Big Mom was very surprised to see that Brook is still alive after he revealed himself and left her in a state of shock at his action. Linlin swore to never forgive Brook for destroying Carmel's portrait. Despite his animosity towards her, Brook asked to look at her panties as she was chasing the crew. During her clash with Kaidou at Onigashima, Big Mom quoted the very same words Brook had used during their confrontation, suggesting that they had left enough of an impact on her for her to remember them. During the raid of Onigashima, Brook joined Franky in attacking her. While she was angry by his audacity, she still remarked on his uniqueness.

Brook/Abilities And Powers
Introduction
Overview
Summary
As much as Brook normally goofs around on the ship engaging in acts of silliness with Luffy, he is still a formidable opponent. Due to his previous experiences and skills that he amassed from the days when the Pirate King Gol D. Roger was still active, Brook, in all respects, is a veteran pirate (though these attributes are somewhat downplayed by his overall demeanor, along with the fact that his isolation in the Florian Triangle seemed to have eroded his knowledge of modern society). Brook is a talented swordsman, has extraordinary speed due to his light frame, and is astonishingly difficult to harm because of his undead state. When Brook fights, his battles often have a comical element to them, including making a few of the members of his own crew fall asleep while fighting the Flying Fish Riders, playing dead halfway through a battle, or launching himself at an enemy with erroneous results. His childish personality occasionally hampers his effectiveness. Though he often gets scared easily by powerful enemies or the supernatural, he can be very calm and fearless to defend his crew, such as when he willingly sacrificed himself hoping to hold back a Pacifista and Bartholomew Kuma, and when he cleverly realized he could trick Giolla to defeat her. When he first met the Straw Hats, he quickly proved to be an asset to them during their encounters with Thriller Bark's many undead inhabitants. After the two-year time skip, Brook's overall skills increased enough to defeat impressive fighters with little difficulty, such as Zeo, an Energy Steroid-enhanced fish-man, and Giolla, an officer of the Donquixote Pirates. When fighting to reclaim the Thousand Sunny, he and Tony Tony Chopper battled and defeated several of Big Mom's chess soldiers. This earned them praise from Charlotte Katakuri, one of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders. During the Raid on Onigashima, Brook fought against various members of the Beasts Pirates, including the Ancient Zoan user Black Maria (alongside Robin) and defeated Kunyun, Sarahebi, Nure-Onna, and Tenjo-Sagari, a Number and three Gifters, simultaneously and with a single technique. Brook has demonstrated tactical ingenuity, as shown when he used his music to act like he was on Giolla's side, allowing him to regain his sword from her and defeat her. He also got the idea to store the copies of Big Mom's Poneglyphs inside his head before she confronted and later captured him. He is very good at working with others to execute plans in tandem, as shown when he took advantage of Pedro's distraction to get around his strongest opponents and enter the Room of Treasure. He also disguised himself as a clone of Luffy to take advantage of the chaos when Luffy crashed Big Mom's tea party, and he destroyed Big Mom's portrait of Carmel without being noticed. He also has a strong will, as he was able to withstand a burst of Big Mom's Supreme King Haki.
Physical Abilities
Summary
Even before his first death, Brook was a capable fighter, having once served as the leader of a battle convoy before turning to piracy. Now in his undead state, Brook's skeletal body allows him to perform a wide variety of acts that would be impossible or fatal for a normal human to do. As long as his body remains solid and intact, he will live, and he can easily repair any bone damage simply by consuming milk (in One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 his ability to heal via drinking milk is named Intermezzo: Preparation). He can even survive having his head cut off, continuing to talk, smell, and see while it is detached. However, he is still capable of feeling pain. Due to his lack of flesh, Brook is resistant to lightning strikes and high and low temperatures. He is also immune to Caesar Clown's Shinokuni gas. Brook's aging process appears to be quite different as a skeleton, as he continues to grow stronger and even taller despite being 90 years old. He is capable of storing objects inside his skull, such as a Tone Dial and Poneglyph rubbings. Because his skeleton body does not have any flesh or organs, Brook is very light weight, increasing his speed and agility. This makes him the fastest member of the Straw Hats. He can run across water without sinking, and jump extremely high into the air. Brook frequently uses his tremendous speed in battle, allowing him to take down opponents with attacks too quick for them to see. He was able to purify an entire horde of Soldier Zombies before any of them could react, and was capable of catching Emperor Big Mom and her homies off guard with his attacks. Though he has a naturally slim frame, Brook possesses an impressive degree of physical strength, being able to carry Luffy up to the crow's nest of Thriller Bark without slowing down. Despite not retaining any muscle tissue, it seems that Brook can still grow stronger over time, as he said to Ryuma that he has grown stronger over the span of the last five years. After two years of extensive training, Brook's strength has increased further, as the force he now applies in his swordsmanship is powerful enough to create flying slashes that can break thick ice from a far range and defend powerful strikes from a steroid enhanced Zeo and Sheepshead of the Beasts Pirates. Brook also has a vast amount of endurance, as he was able to remain conscious after Bartholomew Kuma used his Ursus Shock on Thriller Bark, and was able to get up several times after receiving powerful attacks from Big Mom and her three special homies—Napoleon, Prometheus, and Zeus. Since he is technically dead as his skeletal body lacks skin or blood, Brook is immune to the Ice Oni disease and presumably other similar illnesses.
Musical Skills
Summary
Brook is a virtuoso musician who is extremely skilled in playing all kinds of instruments, particularly the violin, his favorite instrument. After he was separated from the Straw Hats, Brook picked up the guitar and, within two years, he became so highly skilled in the new instrument that he came to be regarded as a world-famous rock star. At testament to this fact, his records in Tone Dials sold in the millions, and his fans during his final world tour stop in Sabaody Archipelago were either crying or fainting at his presence. Brook can masterfully play enchanting songs that are so melodious they can completely captivate even animals like Laboon, who used to sing along to Brook's music. In addition to singing and playing music, Brook is also a skilled composer, having composed songs such as "Bone To Be Wild" and "New World", which proved to be very fashionable among music fans and lovers. Brook's devotion to music not only helped him to pass the lonely days during his long isolation but also learnt to weaponize music for combat. His technique, "Nemuriuta Flanc" shows this, where he strums his violin with his shikomizue in place of a violin bow, creating a soothing tune that makes anyone who hears it immediately fall asleep. His music also shows capabilities to change its listener's attitude and emotions, as when he was on Namakura Island, his music inspired the cult there to fight back against its invaders, the Longarm Tribe. During the fight with the New Fish-Man Pirates, Brook revealed that he has refined his musical skills to the point where he could completely change the mood and effectively hypnotize his opponents to believe they were at a festival. His opponents believed the illusion was reality and ended up using their cannons as fireworks. As a musician who mastered music temperaments such as rhythm, beat, and tempo, Brook has extremely sharp hearing that allows him to accurately distinguish sounds, as he was able to detect where Zeo was by the sound of his movements while the fish-man was invisible, even though Zeo was still difficult to locate through sound.
Devil Fruit
Summary
While he was still alive, Brook ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allowed his soul to return to the world of the living and reinhabit his body after he died. This allows him to reside within his own dead body, which had already decomposed into a skeleton by the time his soul found its way back to it, and he can even perform all the functions he did when his body contained flesh and muscle. Other than bringing him back from the dead, Brook's fruit initially seemed useless. However, he later discovered that he could exercise the power of his strengthened soul, which he discovered is what allows him to animate his body. He can make his returned soul temporarily separate from his body so that it can move independently of his body, effectively making him a ghost. This leaves his body a lifeless husk, but as a spirit, Brook is capable of moving through walls and going to areas that would be impossible for him to physically reach, though he cannot grab hold of anything. If his skeletal body is broken into pieces, he can extend soul tendrils to the severed body parts and pull them back into place. He is also capable of exerting his soul power to affect and overwhelm beings with weaker souls, such as Homies. His soul energy exudes pure coldness, called the "chills of the Underworld", and allows Brook to transfer this freezing aura to objects, like his sword. With this aura, he is capable of freezing his surroundings, as seen when he turned the ground around him on Zou into ice.
Swordsmanship
Summary
Brook uses a type of sword called a shikomizue, a sword concealed inside a cane. He uses this sword in conjunction with his fencing skills and has had it for at least fifty years. As a former battle convoy leader and pirate captain with years of experience in the Grand Line, Brook is a master in swordsmanship. Despite his usual goofy personality in battle, he is an extremely skilled swordsman who is able to dispatch numerous enemies at once with swift and precise strikes. His swordsmanship is a combination of classical fencing and iaidō. Brook's Gentle Blade style is more focused on speed and precision while Zoro's style is more focused on power and thus uses a tremendous amount of physical strength. Brook was unable to defeat Ryuma no matter how hard he fought and while Ryuma only used a fraction of his power, he noticed that Zoro was able to defeat him at full power with only two of his swords, although Ryuma did say that Brook's protectiveness of his afro held him back somewhat. While at Sabaody Archipelago, two years ago, he struck a Pacifista using a high-speed sword attack yet failed to do much damage to it and had to be rescued afterward. However, when Zoro attacked the same Pacifista, the results were very different. He was able to keep up with what Zoro was doing while he watched the swordsman fight Ryuma, showing his sharp perception for swordsmanship. He works very well with Zoro, as they defeated a Flying Fish Rider together. After the timeskip, Brook has named his sword "Soul Solid", due to him developing the ability to coat it with the aura of his soul, freezing it in the process, and anyone who comes into contact with it. He also claimed that the Longarm Tribe has helped him sharpen the sword. His power and skill in swordmanship have also increased to the degree where a samurai from Wano has commended his skill and he is also now able to use flying slashes as well, which were on par with Zoro's and Kin'emon's. Like Zoro, Brook can now cut materials that are harder than steel as he was able to cut down a dragon, whose scales are tougher than steel. Brook was even able to cut off the limbs of Jaygarcia Saturn, one of the Five Elders, in his Awakened Zoan form.
Other
Other Weapons
During Big Mom's wedding ceremony, Brook used a hammer to destroy the photograph of Carmel.
Hairdressing
Despite not being one of the crew's hairdressers, and admitting never cutting a woman's hair before, Brook managed to cut Robin's hair perfectly before her reunion with Saul.

Brook/History
Introduction
Past
Becoming A Pirate And Meeting Laboon
Not much is known of Brook's past before he joined the Rumbar Pirates. What is known is that Brook was born 90 years ago and was attending some form of education in his former years, he went on to become the leader of a battle convoy in a "certain kingdom", where he learned his fencing and many of his attacks received their names. These nicknames of his fencing style were given to him by his previous crew. During this time, Brook was close to a young Gunko and told her his dreams of one day becoming a pirate. At some point Brook learned of the existence of the God's Knights. Fifty-two years ago, Brook was a part of Yorki's pirate crew, the Rumbar Pirates, as one of the many musicians that comprised most of the crew. One day, while he and the rest of the crew were still in the West Blue, their ship was followed by a baby whale who had gotten lost. Seeing that the whale was really upset, Brook suggested to his captain that they should play some music to cheer the whale up. Together with the rest of the crew, Brook played a beautiful song that worked. The next day, Brook and the rest of the crew discovered that the whale had continued following them. Despite this, Brook and the rest of the crew allowed the whale to follow them and even gave the whale a name, Laboon. Since then, Brook and the rest of the crew went around adventuring with Laboon tagging along. Together, they went through a lot, all the while singing joyful songs. As they journeyed together with Laboon, many of Brook's crewmates noticed that he was the one that Laboon was closest to. When Brook and the rest of the Rumbar Pirates were about to enter the Grand Line, they suddenly faced a dilemma. Since Laboon was still a baby, they feared that the Grand Line was too dangerous a place for such a young whale. The rest of the Rumbar Pirates tried to convince Laboon to stay in the West Blue but failed, so Brook was asked to tell Laboon to stay personally. Brook tried to convince Laboon but likewise failed. Unable to do anything else, Brook and the other Rumbar Pirates tried to ignore Laboon in hopes that the whale would be dissuaded from following them and leave. Their plan seemingly worked, and Laboon was not sighted for some time. However, when Brook and the rest of the Rumbar Pirates entered the Grand Line, they were surprised that Laboon had followed them into the Grand Line through the Reverse Mountain. Seeing that their ship had some repairs to be made anyway, Brook and the rest of the crew continued to sing along with the whale while their ship was being fixed. After three months of fixing their ship, Brook and the rest of the Rumbar Pirates decided to leave Laboon under the care of Crocus. They promised Laboon then that they would come back for the whale after going around the world. By then Laboon would've become very big and thus they also promised to take Laboon along with them on their adventures.
Life And Death Within The Grand Line
As Brook and the rest of the Rumbar Pirates traveled across the Grand Line, they experienced all the challenges the sea had to offer. Despite the difficulties, they simply sang along while continuing to sail on. However, disaster struck the crew one day. The captain of the Rumbar Pirates, Yorki, and several others had caught an incurable disease while disembarking at a forest. To keep the disease from spreading to the rest of the crew who were not infected, Yorki decided to take himself and the infected on the Rumbar Pirates' first ship and try to escape the Grand Line by going through the Calm Belt. Yorki told Brook and the remaining Rumbar Pirates of his decision and how he regretted it as it was the only way to save the uninfected. Seeing as he could not return back to Laboon, Yorki asked Brook and the rest of the crew to give his regards to the whale. As Yorki lay dying on his deathbed, Yorki then asked Brook to send him and the infected off with his favorite song, Binks' Sake. With that, Brook and the remaining Rumbar Pirates were split from Yorki and those who were infected. Despite losing half of the crew, Brook and the remaining Rumbar Pirates continued sailing through the Grand Line on a new ship. He was appointed to be their new captain and as they traveled through the sea, Brook gained a bounty for himself. Things went smoothly for Brook and the remaining Rumbar Pirates at first, however upon entering the Florian Triangle, Brook and his remaining crewmates were attacked by some enemy pirates. Brook and some of his crewmates were able to barely survive the assault. However, since the enemy had tainted their weapons with poison and that the Rumbar Pirate's doctor was killed in the attack, Brook and the survivors were slowly wasting away. Knowing that he had eaten the Yomi Yomi no Mi, Brook suggested one last thing to his crewmates. He suggested to them that they should play one last song that would be recorded on a Tone Dial that they had previously bought from a merchant. Since he would be revived after death, Brook promised his crewmates that he would take this Dial and play it for Laboon to hear. Overjoyed with Brook's proposal, the remaining Rumbar Pirates mustered what little strength they had and started singing their favorite song one last time. Though joyful at recording their song, the remaining Rumbar Pirates slowly succumbed to the poison and died one after another. They each fell with smiles on their faces until only Brook was left. With a heavy heart and remembering the promise he made to Laboon, Brook continued playing all alone until he finally succumbed to the poison and died.
50 Years As A Lonely Skeleton And Losing His Shadow
Despite some doubts, Brook's soul was able to return to the mortal world thanks to the powers of his Devil Fruit. Unfortunately for him, he had lost his body because of the fog in the area (it made it hard to find the ship) and had to search for it for one year. When he finally found his body, it was just a pile of bones. Only his afro remained intact because it "had strong roots". Upon rising back from the dead, Brook gathered up the skeletal remains of his dead crewmates and stored them all in coffins located deep within the ship. For the next few uneventful decades, due to the ship's rudder having been broken in the battle, Brook stayed aboard all alone on the ship, left to the whims of the ocean's currents. With nothing much to do, Brook merely did as much as he could, such as rolling on the deck, jumping around, leaning against a wall at a 45-degree angle, and singing alone. When he slept, he would dream that he and his crewmates were still alive, and he would always wake up to find a lonely and cruel reality waiting for him. The fifty years Brook spent stranded on the ship were very harsh and painful, and he deeply missed the company of others. After some time, Brook's ship drifted to Thriller Bark five years prior to the start of the series. Wanting to fix the rudder, he disembarked and explored the island. All he found, however, was the various creatures that inhabited there. He was then captured, saw how Gecko Moria was able to create zombies and his shadow got stolen. After being set adrift on his ship, Brook retraced his path and went back to the island. There he learned of the zombies' weakness while spying on some. He, however, believed it to be fish, leading Hogback to accidentally correct him that it was the sea salt on the fish. He interrogated Hogback for where his zombie counterpart was. After dispatching some zombies, Brook found his zombie counterpart, Ryuma. However, during the battle, Ryuma proved too strong for Brook. After receiving some severe blows to his skull, leaving it with a crack, Brook asked for mercy from Ryuma and quietly ran away from Thriller Bark. For the next five years since then, Brook had been training himself in order to beat Ryuma the next time they would meet.
Thriller Bark Saga
Thriller Bark Arc
After another five lonely years in the Florian Triangle, Brook's ship happened to come across the Thousand Sunny. Three of the Straw Hat Pirates—Monkey D. Luffy, Nami, and Sanji—decided to board his ship upon seeing Brook singing. Encountering them, he greeted them with his rather eccentric manners. Luffy is the only one who seems amazed at Brook while Nami and Sanji were terrified. Brook later asks Nami if she could show her panties to him, which leads to him being kicked by Nami. Luffy's first question to Brook was if he could poop. This enrages Sanji as it was a nonsensical question and that there are more important questions that could be asked. As they were getting acquainted with one another, Luffy asked Brook to join his crew out of the blue. Having been asked this, Brook accepted much to the dismay of Nami and Sanji. After boarding the Thousand Sunny and joining the Straw Hats for dinner, Brook explained his past. It was later revealed that Brook had no reflection or shadow. Brook explained that his shadow was stolen, though refused to say by whom out of regard for the Straw Hats' safety. Because of this, he could not go out into the sunlight or else he would disintegrate like a similar person who had also lost his shadow. With this, Brook humbly declined to join the Straw Hats since he felt he would be a burden to them. Luffy however promised Brook that he would get Brook's shadow back. Happy to see living people after being alone for so long and overjoyed at the welcome the Straw Hats had given him, he decided to perform for them. Suddenly, just as Brook was about to perform before the Straw Hats, a ghost appeared out of the wall. Brook, followed by the Straw Hats, then rushed out of the kitchen and found out that the Thousand Sunny was drifting apparently beside an island from West Blue, Thriller Bark. Upon seeing this, Brook said his farewell and jumped off board the ship and ran across the water to the island. Upon arrival back on the island, Brook went around once again purifying the various creatures before finding [[Ryuma] (Zombie)|Ryuma]] and battling him again. Unfortunately, he was beaten and was sent flying out of the tower which they were battling in. As he fell, he was seen by Franky and Nico Robin falling from the sky and onto the rubble that was once a bridge connecting Hogback's mansion to the main mast of Thriller Bark. After getting up, he defeated Tararan with a single attack using his sword. With the foe purified, Brook explained to Franky and Robin how shadows are taken. As Brook was about to return to reclaiming his shadow, Franky all of a sudden asked Brook a simple question about his being. Upon asked about this, Brook explained to Franky and Robin about his past with Laboon. He explained to them his wish to return to his whale friend. After explaining things to Franky and Robin, Brook rushed off and found Ryuma sitting down in Hogback's lab and drinking tea. Challenging the zombie once again, the two got into a fierce battle. As Brook fought and received bone cracking blows, the thought of meeting up with Laboon no matter what ran through his mind. Despite fighting Ryuma vigorously, Brook once again lost to the zombie. With his bones severely broken, Brook was laid defeated before Ryuma. Unable to defend himself against Ryuma, Brook's assailant decided to cut off Brook's afro. Just as Ryuma was about to cut it off, the entire island suddenly moved, throwing Ryuma off balance and preventing him from doing the deed. At the same time, Franky and Zoro arrived in Hogback's lab to help the skeleton. With a block against one of Ryuma's strikes targeted at Brook and Franky, Zoro told Brook, as the skeleton laid wounded in Franky's arms, that he would fight against Ryuma instead and get Brook's shadow back. After an intense battle that led to the roof of the mansion, Brook watched Zoro defeating Ryuma with a technique that set the zombie ablaze. With Ryuma's corpse incinerated, Brook got his shadow back. As Brook, along with Zoro and Franky, took a moment on the roof to recover from the excitement, Luffy's zombie, Oars came rampaging out of the main mast and calling out for the Straw Hats. The behemoth's appearance frightened Brook completely. Brook then witnessed as a gigantic battle, between the Straw Hats nearby and Oars, took place in the inner courtyard between the main mast and the mansion. The battle unfortunately did not go all too well for the Straw Hats and Brook was unfortunately included in the fray. Due to his previous battle with Ryuma, Brook was completely unable to move as the Straw Hats around stood up from Oars' attacks. He is, however, told to step aside and rest as they take on the behemoth themselves. Brook, however, figuring that they would need a lot of salt to purify Oars, went to Thriller Bark's kitchen and gathered a large amount of the stuff. While there, he drank some milk in order to heal some of his wounds. He then returned just in the nick of time to save Usopp from Oars, who was now aided by Gecko Moria, while carrying a large sack of salt. With the sack of salt, Brook decided to join in the fight against Oars. However, due to still being injured a bit, all that Brook could do at the moment was to hold onto the sack as the Straw Hats attacked Oars. After dodging some of Oars's moves aided by Moria's Devil Fruit powers, Brook asked Nami, Usopp, and Robin to help him in a tactic against Oars. Using Usopp's Kuwagata, Brook was propelled towards Oars. While being propelled, Brook was spun by Robin and was shocked by a cloud created by Nami. With electricity surging through his bones, Brook then thrust himself through Oars' shoulder and shocked the behemoth as he ripped through. After going through Oars, Brook unfortunately then crashed into the building behind Oars. While stuck, Oars tried to stomp Brook. Luckily, Usopp saved Brook by redirecting Oars's attention from Brook with an attack. Though saved by Usopp, Brook was knocked unconscious by Oars' attempted attack and fell to the ground. As the battle with Oars and the Straw Hats raged on, members of the Straw Hats slowly joined Brook in unconsciousness as they were taken out by Moria and Oars. When only Nami and Usopp were left and Oars was about to crush them as well as the knocked-out combatants, Brook and the Straw Hats were saved by Luffy who was then infused with the strength of a hundred shadows. As Luffy drove Oars and Moria away from the inner courtyard with massive attacks, Brook, as well as the unconscious Straw Hats, were carried off to safety by a group of shadowless victims lead by the pirate Lola. Despite the damage he sustained, Brook arose along with the rest of the Straw Hats as Oars rose back up after receiving a heavy beating from Luffy. In order to stop the behemoth once and for all, Brook joined in with the Straw Hats in a plan against Oars. While the others immobilized Oars, Brook took Luffy and carried him up Thriller Bark's main mast with some help from Robin. On top of the mast, Brook threw Luffy down towards Oars so that Luffy could deliver a Gomu Gomu no Gigant Bazooka on to the behemoth. With that attack Oars' entire spine was completely pulverized, and Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats were finally saved from the behemoth's seemingly endless power. Despite Brook and everyone's efforts however, Moria was still able to get back up despite the beating he took from Luffy. Brook then witnessed as Moria attempted one last ditch effort with Shadow's Asgard, a technique in which the Warlord powered up with one thousand shadows taken from his zombie minions. With this turn of events, all that Brook could do was watch as Luffy gathered his strength again and battled against the monstrosity that was Moria. Just as the sun arose and threatened to destroy the Thriller Bark Victim's Association plus Sanji, Zoro, and Robin, Brook saw Luffy finally defeat Moria and release all of the shadows just in the nick of time. After the defeat of Moria, it all seemed like all the horrors that Brook and the others faced on Thriller Bark had ended. However, before everyone could celebrate, another Warlord of the Sea, Bartholomew Kuma, was found to be on the island and was given the order to eliminate everyone on the island. Despite a valiant effort against Kuma, it seemed like no one could match the strength of the Warlord. As the situation raged on, the Warlord offered to spare everyone if they handed Luffy over to him. Brook and the rest flat out refused and were blown away by Kuma's "Ursus Shock". Though the shockwave destroyed most of the island and knocked out nearly everyone, Brook was still conscious enough to see Zoro and Sanji's efforts to save Luffy from being killed by Kuma. After a whole day after all the chaos had ended wherein everyone rested, Brook decided to join in with the others in the ruins of the Mast Mansion to celebrate their victory against Moria. As the festivities continued, Brook decided to play a piano in the room. As he prepared to play, he revealed to Sanji that he witnessed the actions taken by Zoro and Sanji earlier against Kuma and commended their bravery. As Brook started to play Binks' Sake, he and Luffy had a conversation about the song he is playing. Brook explained to Luffy that this song, one Luffy stated that Shanks and his crew sing all the time, is a song that any pirate from the olden days knows of. As the conversation continued on, Luffy once again invited Brook to join his crew now that Brook had reclaimed his shadow, allowing him to walk in the sunlight. Seeing Luffy's point, Brook however told Luffy that he still could not join since he still had one thing to do. Luffy, however, knowing of Brook's promise to Laboon from Franky, told Brook that not only had he met Laboon, but Laboon was still alive and well, waiting for Brook's return at Reverse Mountain. Upon hearing such news and reconfirmation from Sanji and Usopp that it was not a lie, Brook suddenly stopped playing the piano and burst into tears. Happy that after fifty long years, Laboon still waited for his return, Brook continued playing while shedding tears of joy. As he continued playing while remembering his past, Brook decided to heighten the mood of the party by taking out and playing the Tone Dial that he and his crew recorded their last song for Laboon to hear. With the song playing, everyone in the room sang along to the treasured tune. While the others sang, Brook asked in his mind, if Laboon could wait a year or two more so that he could travel around the world and come back over the Red Line as promised so long ago. With this resolve, Brook asked Luffy if he could join the Straw Hats, a decision Luffy accepted without hesitation much to the shock of the majority of the crew. Having joined the Straw Hat crew, Brook showed his bounty poster and pledged his loyalty to Luffy. Two days after joining, Brook is shown a beautiful sight: a gravestone marking the grave of the Rumbar Pirates. Knowing that the remains of his former crewmates could not all fit on the Thousand Sunny, Brook and the rest buried them in the graveyard. For this grave, a gravestone was designed by Usopp, built by Franky, and decorated with flowers by Chopper. Happy with the grave and hoping that his dead crewmates could rest easier since the earth in Thriller Bark came from their native home of West Blue, Brook decided to play them one last song. As he began playing, Brook was greeted by a then recovered Zoro who asked him if Brook could play a song for his destroyed sword. As Brook boarded the Thousand Sunny to continue on his journey around the world, he and Sanji were entertained at the idea at meeting a real-life mermaid at Fish-Man Island, and both got a nosebleed when told that mermaids do not wear panties. After everything had been settled, Brook set sail with the rest of the Straw Hats away from Thriller Bark and towards Fish-Man Island.

Sabaody Archipelago Arc
As Brook and the Straw Hats continued on their journey, he played to them as they went through one Grand Line phenomenon after another. They sailed until they came to a sight that Brook had not seen in fifty years, the Red Line. Having arrived at the second part of the great wall, Brook joined in a little expedition with Robin and Luffy in the Shark Submerge III to find Fish-Man Island deep below. Despite their efforts, they could not find the underwater paradise due to the sub's limitations. Instead, they unfortunately brought with them a Sea King that followed them back to the surface. As the Sea King was defeated by Luffy, Brook and the rest notice the monster spit out two beings onto the Thousand Sunny, a mermaid named Camie and her pet starfish Pappag. Having met the mermaid and her starfish friend, Brook and the others learned that not only could the two lead them to Fish-Man Island for saving them, but they would also reward the Straw Hats with Takoyaki. However, before Brook and the others could be rewarded, they learned that Camie's fish-man friend Hatchin had been captured by the Flying Fish Riders. For the way to Fish-Man Island and the reward of takoyaki, Brook and the others accepted to help. After sailing by using fish to guide them and encountering some of the Flying Fish Riders along the way, they reached the Flying Fish Riders' base. At the base, Brook and the others not only learned the one they were rescuing was a previous enemy of the Straw Hats, but the Flying Fish Riders had laid an ambush for the Straw Hats. Upon engaging the Flying Fish Riders, Brook accidentally dove along with Chopper after Luffy when his captain fell into the sea despite both of them being incapable of swimming themselves. Feeling ashamed for his recklessness and having the others save especially in his first battle as a Straw Hat, Brook decided to make up for it by reducing the swarming numbers of Flying Fish Riders with a technique that left a majority of them asleep and vulnerable. As Brook and the others continued to battle against their foes, they soon learn that the boss of the Flying Fish Riders, Duval, had a grudge against Sanji because of his face looking exactly like Sanji's wanted poster. Though after hearing the tragic coincidence regarding Duval and Sanji, Brook fell onto his knees, pounding the ground laughing (much to Sanji's ire). Despite Duval's efforts to get back at Brook's crewmate, the boss was defeated when Sanji rearranged his face and Brook and the rest were able to get away to enjoy some Takoyaki. After enjoying a well-deserved reward of Takoyaki and being thanked by Duval for what Sanji did to his face along with the other Straw Hats, Brook and his crewmates sailed to the Sabaody Archipelago. There, as they were informed by Hatchan, was where they could find a coating mechanic to coat the Thousand Sunny so they can go to Fish-Man Island. Joining the landing party to search for the mechanic, Brook and his fellow Straw Hats learned from Hatchan of the World Nobles that frequent there and the consequence if people would defy them. As Brook and the rest came to the shadier parts of the mangrove to where the mechanic could be found, they learned a great deal of things from a friend of Hatchan's, Shakuyaku. These included the fact that there very few Marines that were stationed at the moment in the mangrove, and the fact that there were nine other pirates besides Luffy and Zoro whose bounties were higher than 100,000,000. Aside from these other things, Brook and the landing party learned that the mechanic they were searching for, Rayleigh, might be in Sabaody Park among places. Hitting the theme park, Brook and the rest enjoyed the various rides there. However, in the midst of all the fun, they discovered that Camie had been kidnapped. With Camie kidnapped, Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats decided to seek help from Duval and his Flying Fish Riders. While awaiting with Chopper in Sabaody Park to be picked up by the Flying Fish Riders, Brook convinced his fellow Straw Hat to relax a bit despite their situation. Unfortunately, when the Flying Fish Riders arrived with Usopp to pick the two up, both Brook and Chopper were scolded by their crewmate for relaxing too much. Having been picked up, Brook rode alongside one of the riders in order to locate Camie. Upon learning that Camie was taken to the Human Auctioning House in Grove 1 of the mangrove, Brook and his Flying Fish Rider companion immediately headed to the place. By the time they reached there, the place was already in chaos because of Luffy punching a World Noble. Seeing no available entrance through the crowd of people rushing out of the place, Brook's rider companion, along with Robin's and Usopp's rider companions, decided to go in another way. They crashed their flying fish through the walls and delivered the three Straw Hats into the auction house. Once there, Brook and his two crewmates immediately regrouped with the rest of crew and joined in the fighting against the auction house's guards. In the midst of chaos however, Brook and his companions' foes were all suddenly knocked out by the mechanic they were all looking for in the first place. With Rayleigh in the scene, not only were Brook and his companions' foes knocked out, but Camie's collar was also taken off without it blowing up in her face thanks to the Coating Mechanic. Though Brook and the rest of the crew found the mechanic and were reunited with Camie, they had no time for pleasantries. They learned at that very moment that a group of Marines had already surrounded the Auction House in response for what happened there. Despite being surrounded, Brook and the rest of the crew rallied forward to escape from the scene. With Luffy leading the march, Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats fought through the blockade of Marines that awaited them outside the place. Accompanying Brook and the rest of crew in their escape were some members of two other pirate crews, the Kid Pirates of Eustass Kid and the Heart Pirates of Trafalgar Law. These two pirate crews decided to help the Straw Hats at the time since the Marines mistook them for the Straw Hats' accomplices for the assault on the World Nobles. After breaking through the Marine blockade and parting with the two other pirate crews, Brook and the rest escaped the scene and reunited with Duval and his men. Having escaped from the Marines for the moment, Brook and the rest returned to Shakky's bar and learned from Rayleigh a bit of the mechanic's past. While most of it concerned about a pirate that was a mere rookie during Brook's time, Gol D. Roger, what surprised Brook the most was learning that his old friend, Crocus, had tried to look for him while he was a part of Roger's crew. After hearing Rayleigh's tale of days past, Brook and the rest decided to hand the Thousand Sunny over to the mechanic to work on due to the trouble that they just stirred up. With a promise that the ship's coating would be finished in three days, Brook and the rest set off with the will to survive until the appointed time. As Brook and the rest set off, they encountered a familiar figure. Recognizing the figure as Bartholomew Kuma, Brook and his crewmates began fighting against this encountered foe. As they fought, Brook and the rest soon realized that though figure before them looked like Kuma, it was not due to several differences among which included him not having any paws on his hands. Despite this, Brook and the rest fought to their fullest against the Pacifista. With their combined strength, Brook and the rest of the crew were able to defeat the Pacifista. Unfortunately, they were not given a moment's rest as another Pacifista came along with Sentomaru, an immensely strong Marine captain aiding in the Straw Hats' capture. Seeing as they no longer had the strength to face these new foes, Brook and the rest decided to split up and run for it. Noticing Zoro was still having trouble due to his wounds with Kuma, Brook decided to aid the swordsman and Usopp. As Brook and his crewmates were retreating, they unfortunately came across the Marine admiral sent to apprehend them, Kizaru. Fortunately, they were saved by Rayleigh who was somehow able to counter the admiral's light-based Logia Devil Fruit powers. Having been momentarily saved by the coating mechanic, Brook and Usopp took the wounded Zoro as fast as they can. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts along with those of Sanji, Brook and Usopp were not able to fend off the Pacifista that came with Sentomaru. Just as it seemed like their comrade Zoro was about to finished off by the Pacifista, the real Bartholomew Kuma suddenly appeared to the astonishment of Brook and his crewmates with him, and vanished Zoro somewhere else before their eyes. In an attempt to protect Usopp and Sanji from the same fate, Brook got in the way of Kuma's next attack and was pushed away somewhere else by the Warlord's Devil Fruit powers.
Straw Hat Separation Adventure Harahettania
For three days and three nights, Brook flew through the sky from being pushed by Kuma's attack. On the fourth day, he landed in the country of Harahetternia in Namakura Island. However, the skeleton had landed right in the middle of demon summoning ritual done by some cultists prepared to lose their souls to Satan in exchange for revenge against the Longarm Tribe. Knowing he needed to get back to rest of the crew, Brook ignored the cultists who believed he was the demon they summoned. However, when a frightened girl caught his eye, he asked her to see her panties. Hearing this request, the cultists' leader, Pekkori, immediately ordered everyone to rush to pay panties in tribute to Brook in fear that he would return back to the demon realm. However, he got man panties, causing Brook to be shocked and stunned. After being given some panties, Brook witnessed the girl whom he had asked for panties earlier, being kidnapped by some members of the Longarm tribe. To his surprise, he found that the cultists just stood there allowing the atrocity to happen instead of fighting. Instead, they asked him to repay his debt of having been given panties. Instead of fighting Brook decided to compose a new piece of music despite the cultists' pleas and offerings of underwear made by some of the male members.
Postwar Arc
With the song, he encouraged the cultists to stand up for themselves. Though they weren't able to do much anyway without Brook helping them fight, they were able to capture the Longarms and rescue all the villagers that were kidnapped. Having helped the cultists, Brook explained to them that no God or Devil would help them if they do not do things themselves. Despite the victory however, Brook's mind was somewhere else. He had just gotten hold of a newspaper detailing the war with Whitebeard in Marineford which most notably mentioned the death of Luffy's brother, Ace. Having read this news, all that Brook wanted to do was get back to Luffy and console his captain's loss with his music. As the celebrations went on, he convinced the cultists to let the Longarms go instead of selling them off as the Longarms had been doing. He insured the cultists that he as "Satan" would eat the Longarms' hearts should they ever attack the village again. With that, the Longarms were thus freed. However, as soon as the Longarms been released, they kidnap Brook with the intent of selling him off as some sort of freak show. Upon seeing "Satan" captured, the cultists unfortunately decided to summon another demon instead of helping Brook themselves. Having been captured by the three Longarms, Brook was then to brought to the Tehna Gehna Kingdom on Kenzan Island where he was to be shown off as a sideshow freak. While being shown off to a crowd of Longarms, Brook was able to get a hold of a newspaper detailing Luffy's latest endeavor. While the newspaper detailed Luffy's outlandish return to Marineford, Brook was able to get the hidden message that Luffy was sending to his crew. Noticing Luffy's tattoo, Brook deciphered that instead of regrouping in three days as was originally planned, Luffy wanted his crew to return back to Sabaody in two years. Having gotten the message, Brook decided to better himself before the appointed time. Initially, he tried to train himself so he could bend 40 degrees; however, he quickly dismissed this plan. He then decided to do something else. Taking out a guitar, Brook decided to perform his new song, "Bone To Be Wild" to the onlooking Longarms. The story continues two years later.

Introduction
Fishman Island Saga
Return To Sabaody Arc
Two years have passed and evidently, Brook has become a major rock star with the Longarms who captured him acting as his managers. He has come to be known as "Soul King". He has a new guitar that is shaped like a shark and wears sunglasses, a crown, a feather boa, and floral pants. He has been on a world tour for an unknown amount of time. Due to all the success and fame, Franky wondered if Brook would really want to give up such a glamorous life to return to being the musician of the Straw Hats. Later on, his managers sold Brook out to the navy by telling them that he is a pirate (most likely to get his bounty) and his fans held back the navy and begged them to let him perform one last song in which they seemingly complied. Brook decided that Sabaody Archipelago would be where he did his last performance on his musical world tour. After the concert, the stage blew up in smoke and Brook was saved by the Flying Fish Riders. Before the concert started, he told his managers that he was retiring. Sometime later, Brook was informed by Shakky that the situation on the island had become more unsettling. When he was about to give his fans an encore, the Marines who were informed by Brook's managers about his past with the Rumbar Pirates and connection to the Straw Hats (whom everyone thought dead), came and stopped the concert. Undeterred, Brook tells the world that Straw Hat Luffy is alive and will some day become the pirate king and plays one last song, with his fans holding back the Marines. Brook then escaped with the help of the Rosy Life Riders and was heading to Grove 42. As soon as he reached the ship, he asked if he could see Nami's panties, which resulted in her kicking him. He then cried tears of joy when Luffy arrived. When the Marines were intercepted by Hancock, Brook became mesmerized and fainted when she winked in his direction. He, along with the rest of the Straw Hats, cheered as they started to submerge and head for Fish-Man Island.
Fishman Island Arc
Undersea Voyage
As the ship descended, Brook, along with the rest of the crew, got very excited while they marveled at the fantastic sites underwater. After Sanji suffered from another massive nosebleed just by seeing Nami move, Brook started to worry about the cook, stating that Sanji becomes weak near women and wondered what would happen if he sees the mermaids on Fish-Man Island. He, along with the rest of the crew, decided to partake in Luffy's lunchboxes as Franky explained to them how Kuma protected their ship. When Sanji regained consciousness and expressed his bitterness of having to spend two years with some okamas, Brook tried to cheer him up by suggesting that they sing. With the help of their seacow, the Caribou Pirates caught up with the Straw Hats. Caribou quickly set foot on the Thousand Sunny. Before his crew could follow, his seacow, which turned out to be Momoo, fled in fear after seeing Nami, Sanji, and Luffy, taking the rest of the Caribou Pirates and left Caribou alone on the Thousand Sunny. The Straw Hats then tied up Caribou as he begged for mercy. With that settled, Brook assisted Nami in explaining the nature of the undersea currents. When some of the crew lost interest in the explanation, Nami quickly got irritated, causing Brook to pop in and asks if she wants to sing. He is then shocked at the sight of the "Downward Plume" and is shocked again by the presence of the Kraken. Brook quickly got over his shock, and started feeling a connection between him and the Kraken, but is soon again quickly terrified of it when it destroyed the Caribou pirates ship. Brook then noticed that they were about to crash into an undersea mountain, but were saved thanks to Robin. He along with the rest of the crew marveled at how powerful the "Monster Trio" have become. The monster trio soon defeated the Kraken, but because they were not wearing life-lines, they got separated from the ship as it was pulled down the Downward Plume. Brook helped steer the ship. After reaching 7000 meters below sea level, the crew entered the "Underworld of the Sea." The crew then searched for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji while avoiding various sea creatures. The crew then noticed that Caribou untied himself during the fall. Franky found Caribou hidden in a barrel and sealed the barrel with Caribou inside it. When the crew entered the deep-sea volcanic region, they encountered an angler fish. It tried to eat the Thousand Sunny but it is stopped by an Umibouzo. Brook and the crew then heard singing and they saw the Flying Dutchman and its captain, Vander Decken. Brook got terrified of the ghost ship and told the story of how it came to be. Vander Decken then ordered the Umibouzo to punch the Thousand Sunny, but the newly-tamed Kraken intervened and knocked out the sea giant. The monster trio reunited with Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats, but an undersea volcano started to erupt. The Kraken (now named Surume) pulled the ship away from the eruption and jumped down into a trench. After going down the trench, the crew finally saw Fish-Man Island. The Straw Hats soon encountered a gang of sea monsters led by Hammond, who gave the Straw Hats two options: join the New Fish-Man Pirates or die.
Trouble In The Underwater Paradise
Luffy rejected Hammond and the fish-man prepared to attack. Franky activated Coup de Burst and the ship flew through the bubble surrounding Fish-Man Island. The ship then fell into a current and the Straw Hats got separated. Brook later reunited with Pappag and went to the Mermaid Cafe, where the mermaids there were big fans of him. When Camie brought Luffy and Usopp to the cafe, Brook and Pappag had a happy reunion. Before boarding a fish taxi, Brook noticed a wanted poster for Vander Decken. Pappag revealed to Brook and the group that the Vander Decken from the legend died on Fish-Man Island and the one the Straw Hats saw was his grandson. While riding on the taxi, they come across a candy factory with Big Mom's jolly roger on it. They soon arrived at Pappag's house. Brook and the group soon learn that there is a Criminal clothing store on the first floor. As soon as they entered the store, they found Nami making complaints for the high prices. Pappag said that the Straw Hats can have whatever they wanted for free. After hearing this joyful news, they emptied the store much to Pappag's dismay. They then heard a commotion outside the store and they found that King Neptune has arrived to meet them. Brook and the others are then invited by the King himself to his castle. The Straw Hats, Camie, and Pappag rode on Megalo while Neptune rode on Hoe as he called to them not to fall off. Pappag thought about the Mermaid Princess, and Brook asked him if he was right in remembering that Pappag was once best friends with the princess. Pappag gave him a long "ssshhh", and Brook realized it was a lie. Upon arriving at the palace, everyone looked at it in awe. Brook said it made Pappag's mansion look like a flea, prompting the starfish to tell him not to compare them. After entering the caste, Luffy wandered off in search for food while Brook wondered when the banquet would start. After receiving word of the mysterious disappearances of the mermaids from Mermaid Cove and of Madam Shyarly's ominous prediction, the palace guards and personnel took action against the Straw Hats. Brook, Usopp, and Nami battled against the attacking guards. Brook prepared himself when King Neptune attacks, but Zoro intercepted him. After subduing the king, the ministers, and the royal guards, Brook and the Straw Hats had an argument. Brook told Zoro that he overdid things. While the group are wondered what to do next, Brook suggested that they sing. The three princes of the Neptune House returned to the palace only to find it under the control of the Straw Hats. Since the princes were unable to enter, Fukaboshi spoke with Zoro through the Den Den Mushi. Brook listened as Zoro made his demands and Fukaboshi informed them of Jinbe's message. After hearing noises coming from Shirahoshi's room, Neptune begged the Straw Hats to go check up on her to ensure her safety. Brook instantly dashed towards her location, in hopes of seeing her panties, while carrying the Minister of the Right thinking that the latter shared his impure motives. They soon arrived at Hard-Shell Tower and found a group of battered human pirates thrown there. They are then surprised to see Luffy, Megalo, and Shirahoshi leaving the tower with the princess inside the shark's mouth (unknown to both Brook and the Minister of the Right). Brook calls out to Luffy while the Minister of the Right calls out to Megalo asking why he is leaving the door wide open. The minister then urges Brook to check the room and they find the princess missing. The human pirates (pawns of Hody Jones) blindly attacked, only to be evaded repeatedly by Brook. The intruders demand to know where is the switch that opens the connection corridor to the palace. They repeatedly say that they must follow Jones' orders or else they'll perish. Their desperation to live drove them into a blind rage. This left Brook on the defensive, not wanting to confront them as he was already preoccupied with carrying a "hostage", the Minister. The two of them are later seen outrunning the intruding hordes, with the minister urging Brook to run back to the king. Once they return to the palace hall, Brook tells everyone about the invasion. Zoro defeated the invaders, but unknown to everyone present in the palace hall, one of them managed to open the connection corridor. When Neptune demanded that Shirahoshi to be returned to him, Brook pointed out that he only saw Luffy and Megalo leave Shirahoshi's room. Neptune mentioned that Shirahoshi is as big as him and could not slip away without anyone noticing. Brook, who has yet to meet Shirahoshi personally, pictured the Mermaid Princess as a big ugly mermaid. Brook and the others then encountered Hody Jones and Vander Decken IX. Once Decken learned from Neptune that Shirahoshi was no longer in the palace, he quickly went after her. Jones then crushed a palace wall, flooding the palace in the process. He launched his Archer Shark attack, injuring Neptune and some of his soldiers. Brook managed to avoid the attack and told Usopp that he noticed Nami went off somewhere and the water was draining his strength. Jones then ordered his crew to attack, but Usopp held them back by launching a Pop Green that spawned a plant that gave off a bad odor. Jones, however, remained unfazed. Usopp and Brook untied the guards and Zoro cut Neptune's chains. Usopp then carried Brook away before the room is completely submerged. Once Jones is staggered by Zoro, Brook, Usopp and the swordsman grabbed onto Neptune as he prepared to make an escape route. Neptune created a vortex and cleared a path. The ministers and the Ryugu Palace guards managed to escape. However, Neptune's back gave in, putting him, Usopp, Zoro, and Brook in a dangerous situation. Neptune's whale, Hoe, arrived to save them, but before they could leave the palace, Jones, energized by Energy Steroids, stopped Neptune with one hand. Brook, Usopp, Zoro, and Neptune are then captured by the New Fish-Man Pirates. The New Fish-Man Pirates thought that Brook was just someone's dead skeleton. However, they soon realized that Brook was not actually dead. Brook, Usopp, and Zoro were then locked in a cage in a room filling with water. Hody planned to drown them after he executes King Neptune. Brook then showed his ability to leave his body in spirit form, which he learned a while back. His crewmates were seemingly astounded. Brook then tried to tell Pappag to get Zoro's sword, but Pappag ran away in terror.
Battle For Fishman Island
Brook, Zoro, Usopp and Pappag eventually escaped the palace and appeared in Gyoncorde Plaza with the rest of the Straw Hats, ready to fight the New Fish-Man Pirates. Brook is distracted by Shirahoshi and is seen gawking at her. Brook, having finally met the Mermaid Princess in person, commented on how beautiful she is and then asked her to show him her panties before getting smacked by Nami. As the battle with the New Fish-Man Pirates initiate, Brook prepared himself. When the New Fish-Man Pirates cannon squad tried to kill Shirahoshi, Brook stopped them with his music, hypnotizing them all. Under the influence of his music they imagined they were at a carnival as Brook commanded them to fire into the air to make fireworks. Before they even noticed, Brook had cut them with Kintothias Fantasia. Brook remembered that he forgotten something and then turned to Nami. He went in front of her asked to see her panties, getting punched in the face by Nami and stabbed with a Roasted squid spear by Ikaros Much. The spear had no effect on Brook as he was already all dried up. Then he stepped on Zeo's face while the latter was laying on the ground being invisible. When Zeo revealed himself, Brook prepared to fight him. During the fight, Zeo wrapped his chain around Brook's neck and snapped his head off. As his head fell to the ground, Brook just thought about how in the last two years, he has learned about the true power of his devil fruit. With this power, Brook's head reattached itself, much to Zeo's shock. Brook then slashed at Zeo with his Soul Solid, which carried with the chill of the underworld. After the report of Hody's defeat is heard over the island, some of the Fish-Man pirates started running away. Zeo responded by attacking them, telling them that if they do not fight, they can die in the name of their grudge. Brook stopped him and chastised Zeo as he did not really know what dying is like. Brook went on saying that he hated people who waste lives. Zeo retorted that even though the Straw Hats have remained calm with the threat of Noah, he still believed that they will die. Brook countered that they believed that Luffy will become the Pirate King and in that belief, there is nothing to be afraid of. Zeo then made a circle around himself and warned Brook that if he crossed it, his bones were going to be crushed to bits. Brook passed the circle and Zeo in an instant. As Zeo wondered how Brook got passed him, Brook defeated him with 'Glacing Song: Blizzard Cut'. After all the leaders of the New Fish-Man Pirates had been defeated, the Straw Hats looked into the sky as Luffy tried to destroy Noah. When the Sea Kings appeared and stopped Noah from falling, saving the ship and the island at the same time, everyone on Fish-Man Island celebrated.
The After Battle Celebration And Departure
As the crew tried to leave the island quietly, they are intercepted by the palace guards who gave them Neptune's invitation to the banquet he had originally planned. At the party, Brook was pounced on by an adoring mermaid fan and sang on stage with Maria Napole. After the party ended, Franky was talking about how they would become big time pirates and Brook asked him if he thinks the rockstar lifestyle he is describing is easy. He is later shocked that Luffy challenged Big Mom. After saying their farewells, Brook and the crew left Fish-Man Island and had set sail with the Thousand Sunny to the New World. Brook told Laboon to wait a little longer as he was halfway there. On their way to the New World, the crew tried to catch some sea monsters for a celebration for them entering the New World. After they get caught in the White Storm, they are stopped by a group of whales that all look exactly like Laboon. Brook, overwhelmed at the thought of the whales looking like Laboon, believed one of them to be Laboon, only for Usopp to state that Laboon is at the first half of the Grand Line. Brook, however, still believed him to be Laboon and cried over the site of the whales only to be corrected by the crew. After realizing that Laboon was born in this spot, he surmised that the whales here were his family and had been looking for him. Brook told the whales that he is doing well and is in great shape. Brook then played Binks' Sake and cheered the whales up to take the crew to the surface to the New World while Brook commented on how the sky is pouring from the rain.

Punk Hazard Arc
Arrival At Punk Hazard
Soon after entering the New World, the crew spots an island surrounded by a sea of flames as Brook waves goodbye to the whales. The Straw Hats then receive a distress call from someone who seems to be in trouble and Zoro asks Brook about the samurai mentioned by the pirate in distress. Brook then explains about the country of Wano Country. Later, a small group consisting of Luffy, Usopp, Zoro, and Robin go and explore the island of Punk Hazard. While Usopp, Robin, Luffy, and Zoro fight a dragon, some unknown foes knock the remaining Straw Hats on the Thousand Sunny, including Brook, with sleeping gas. However, when the enemies list the pirates they have captured, Brook was not among them, meaning that he has been overlooked (possibly because they thought he was a deceased body). Brook is left behind as Nami, Chopper, Sanji, and Franky are kidnapped. After Brook wakes up, he finds that the Sunny has been taken to the other side of the island in front of a massive building. He then informs Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, and Robin about the situation through a Den Den Mushi after defeating the intruders. Brook then disembarks, planning on building snowmen. However, he then encounters, and starts fighting the torso of the headless samurai. The samurai proves to be quite powerful, and obviously ignores Brook's questions as to why he is fighting. Brook then runs away in confusion and fright, thinking the torso is a ghost. Brook then stumbles upon Luffy's group at the lake while they are being attacked by some centaurs led by Brownbeard. Using his ability, Brook froze the barrels of their flintlocks, causing them to backfire on the shooters. This gives Zoro, Usopp, Robin, and Luffy enough time to defeat the sharks and escape the lake. After defeating the centaurs and stealing their coats, the group uses Brownbeard as transportation to Vegapunk's former research facility. They soon arrive at the scene where Law and Smoker just fought. After Luffy talks to Law, the group quickly gets away from the Marines and meets up with Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Franky, and some of the children that were held prisoner in the research facility. They then take shelter in the back side of the facility. The Straw Hats then tie up Brownbeard and bring each other up to speed on the current situation. After interrogating Brownbeard, they learn about a man known as Caesar Clown. Kin'emon later leaves the group to find his torso and Sanji (in Nami's body) and Brook volunteer to go search for him while having perverted thoughts. Nami makes Zoro go with them to ensure that they will not do anything indecent. Brook's group later sees the Yeti Cool Brothers' massive footprints and decides to follow them. When they reach the edge of a cliff, they encounter the yetis. The brothers fire KYP bullets at the group, knocking them out and sending them falling of the cliff towards an icicle trap. Fortunately, Zoro destroys the trap before falling unconscious. After Sanji kicked Zoro and Brook to wake them up, they then walked and stumbled on a frozen Kin'emon by accident. After learning that Kin'emon's torso has fallen into the lake, they go to the lake to retrieve it. They then run into Brownbeards' men, but the centaurs choose to run instead of fighting. When they are close to the lake, they see a 'mountain'. Brook, Zoro, and Sanji then stare at the slime and comment that it is doing something mysterious.
A Weapon Of Mass Destruction
As the slime continues to shoot itself across the lake, Brook claims to have read about a similar creature in a book, and that it melts the clothes of women. Along with the others present, they all start to notice some of the fish dying due to Smiley's toxins. Sanji jumps into the lake to search for Kin'emon's torso while Zoro and Brook try to fend off the slime close to their position. Brook attempts to cut the Smiley but it has no effect, and the slime continues to release poisonous gas with each strike against it. Zoro yells at Brook, stating that cutting is not going to work and that he should just eat it instead. Once Sanji resurfaces and Kin'emon is fully put back together, Brook comments on how Kin'emon is tall and about the same height as himself. While Sanji is yelling at Kin'emon for being apologetic, Brook points out that they are completely surrounded by the slime. Kin'emon proceeds to cut Smiley with his Kitsunebi-ryu, causing it to explode. However, Kin'emon is also able to cut the fire leaving a clear path for the four of them. Brook is then seen fleeing from Smiley along with Zoro, Sanji and Kin'emon. Brook states that, like Zoro, he would like to know about Kin'emon's sword style. He then watches with the others as the slime begins to change its shape. Smiley begins to attack again and Brook comments that this attack is too big so he escapes with the others. He questions with the others what the slime's abilities are as they all run for the research facility together. As they are running from Smiley, they come across the giant candy left by Caesar for Smiley, and a small dragon made by Vegapunk. They then see a screen appear, with Caesar on it and decide to run again. After witnessing Smiley explode, Brook, Sanji, Zoro, and Kin'emon run quickly trying to get away from the poisonous gas cloud. They see the small dragon flying away, and Zoro proposes the idea to get on the dragon's back and fly away. Brook agrees that this is a good idea. Struggling to catch up to it, Sanji is able to rush ahead after feeding his perverse nature. He catches the dragon, allowing the group to finally ride it. Eventually meeting up with Nami, Usopp, and Brownbeard, the two groups turn their attention to Caesar's lab where Zoro and Kin'emon are able to cut down the iron shutter, allowing them to enter. After the G-5 Marines plug up the hole made by Zoro and Kin'emon, Brook uses his soul form to look outside of the facility right after the poison cloud blows over. Once he returns to his body, he comments that if anyone were to step outside, they would die. The G-5 Marines prepare to arrest the Straw Hat Pirates, but they are interrupted by Law. Law then tells everyone present about a way off the island but will have two hours to escape. As they all split up into three groups, Brook goes with Usopp, Zoro, Sanji, Nami, and Kin'emon while the G-5 Marines go with Tashigi to find the abducted children and the door with "R Building 66" on it. When a group of G-5 Marines attempt to capture the Straw Hats, Brook, Zoro, and Kin'emon preform a three way attack on them and go on their way towards the passageway to Building B. One of Caesar's henchman fires a cannon at the wall of Building A, allowing the gas inside. As the gate exiting Building A closes, Brook and the others make haste to the passageway. They narrowly make it through the gate before it shuts completely, but a few G-5 Marines sacrificed themselves to save Tashigi. Kin'emon and the Straw Hats then ride on Brownbeard and make their way towards Building B. After entering Building B, the smaller dragon attacks the group but leaves Brook alone, infuriating the skeleton. While the dragon breathes fire everywhere in Building B, Brook and Kin'emon debate on who should fight the dragon. After the dragon is damaged by Nami, Usopp, and Robin's attacks, the dragon retaliates by breathing fire at them. Kin'emon slices through the flames and Brook helps the samurai finish if off with Gavotte Bond en Avant. Brook and the group then find Chopper (in Monster Point) trying to prevent the children from getting their candy. Regardless of his efforts, the children beat him down and run past him when the Rumble Ball wears off. Brook and the others (except Brownbeard) quickly come to Chopper's aid and run after the children to the Biscuits Room. Once they reach there, they encounter Monet. Brook goes with Usopp and Kin'emon, using his soul form to try and find Momonosuke, and a pair of Seastone handcuffs, which Robin has asked for. While Usopp goes to the secret room, Brook and Kin'emon frees some of the captive children. Kin'emon then learns from a little girl that his son was transformed into a dragon. Thinking his son was the dragon he fought earlier, Kin'emon rushes back towards the direction of the poison gas. Brook tries to stop Kin'emon, but the samurai is unfortunately petrified by the gas. Brook then carries his body as everyone flees to Building R. Once everyone reaches Building R safely, they board a rail car and make their escape. While riding through the escape passage, Brook is shocked to see a small dragon, which happens to be Kin'emon's son. Once they reach the outside, they find Franky battling against Buffalo and Baby 5.
Aftermath
After the defeat of Buffalo and Baby 5 and the capture of Caesar Clown, everyone took a moment to rest and relax. Later, Brook panics when Kin'emon's body cracked and is then surprised to see him reformed back to his normal state. After Sanji prepares a meal, everyone have a feast together. After the party ended, Brook and the rest of the Straw Hat pirates made their way to their ship to set sail to their next destination. While they made their way, the G-5 Marines put up a banner to prevent the kids from seeing the Straw Hats while yelling things like Marines are justice and pirates are scum. The kids, however, said that they were the ones who saved them, while remembering all the Straw Hats did for them. The G-5 Marines continue to speak ill of pirates and praise the marines, but Tashigi interrupts them and says they are a disgrace. The G-5 Marines respond with saying that if they do not badmouth the pirates, they would come to admire and respect them. Eventually the Marines lower their voices and banners to let the kids say their goodbyes, while Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats wave them goodbye, as they continue to make their way to their ship. Brook and the rest of the Straw Hat pirates are later seen on a Sea slope, which are pretty common according to Law. When Brook asks Franky about "the little Lamb", Franky corrects him and says it is Mini-Merry 2 and that he is the eighth person to make this mistake. Franky then explains to Brook about how he was able to retrieve the Mini-Merry via a hidden water way to the research facility. Knowing that the Mini Merry is safe, Brook says the he can finally rest easy. A little while later, Luffy starts to explain that they formed alliance with the Heart Pirates to take down an Emperor. Law proceeds to explain about the operations and underworld deals of all the major pirates of the New World and that Doflamingo, also known as Joker, has the most influence in the underworld. Brook did not hear since he fell asleep during Law's explanation. Law goes on, saying that Doflamingo's biggest client is Kaidou, which greatly shocks Kin'emon and Momonosuke. He then explain the next goal of their plan which is to cut down Kaidou’s forces as much as possible, specifically his army of synthetic devil fruit users, which is around 500. Law assures the crew that the number will not grow any time soon, due to the capture of Caesar Clown. Brook and Chopper begin to show interest in Caesar which seems to make Caesar quite happy and Usopp quite angry. Law said that it was really Vegapunk that developed a theory on the devil fruits, and that Caesar only applied it which makes Brook and the rest lose all interest in Caesar. Law concludes by saying that the devil fruits are being made on their next destination, Dressrosa, and also warns the crew to not underestimate Doflamingo. Luffy asks if Kin'emon has business on Dressrosa, and Kin'emon reveals that he has a comrade being held prisoner there. Later during the night, Brook comments on the choice that Law forced Doflamingo to make. When Nami tells him, Sanji and Kin'emon, that Momonosuke is taking a bath together with Robin, they all get very jealous. When Momonosuke and Robin comes out of the bath, wearing towels, they all yell at the boy out of a fit of rage, only to get reprimanded by Nami, who hits them all. Momonosuke then rubs his advantage with Nami and Robin in their faces, by pressing his face into Nami's chest and glaring at them with a malicious smile, much to their dismay. The next morning, Brook wakes everyone up and informs them that the newspaper came. While reading the news paper, they discover that Doflamingo resigned his position as one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and that he renounces as King of Dressrosa. His title as "King" surprises Brook. They then see that the newspaper also explains about Luffy and Law's alliance and the alliance between Kid, Hawkins, and Apoo.
Dressrosa Arc
The Next Objective
After Law contacted Doflamingo to inform him that they will bring Caesar to Green Bit, Brook had a meal with the rest of the crew while Kin'emon and Momonosuke told them the story about how they were shipwrecked and drifted to Dressrosa, how Momonosuke was separated from his father, and how Kanjuro was captured. The Thousand Sunny later approached Dressrosa. After disembarking, the group split into three teams. Brook is part of the team that guards the Thousand Sunny. Momonosuke later played Shogun with Brook, Nami, and Chopper. When Brook started singing a song, they heard some strange noises and a voice coming from the men's room. The voice belonged to Giolla of the Donquixote Pirates, who had invaded the ship along with several of her subordinates. Using her Devil Fruit power, she turned the men's room into abstract art and does the same to Nami, Chopper, Brook, and Momonosuke. Hoping to lure Giolla away from the ship, they escaped, but Giolla transformed the ship into art anyway, rendering it unable to sail. Brook, Nami, and Chopper fought back and managed to defeat Giolla's men and destroy her ship. Giolla uses her Devil Fruit powers to turn Brook's sword into art, rendering it useless. The three Straw Hats then received a call from Law. They begged Law to come save them, but instead, Law ordered them to bring the Thousand Sunny to Green Bit so he could hand Caesar to them. Brook wondered why Law had not already given Caesar to Doflamingo. Giolla later trapped Chopper, Momonosuke, and Nami in a deadly painting that would slowly suffocate them in ten minutes. Brook acted nonchalant, seemingly caring more about the art that was being created than his friends' lives. The skeleton asked Giolla to turn his violin and cane back to normal so that he could add accompaniment to their death. Once Giolla complied, Brook then slashed her using 'Drawing Song Hitoyogiri', defeating her and causing her power to wear off, turning everyone back to normal. Later on, Nami's group kept attacking Giolla to ensure she was completely incapacitated. They then discussed what to do with Giolla and wondered why Law was not handing Caesar back to Doflamingo. Giolla proudly informed them that Doflamingo never quit as a Warlord of the Sea and explained his gambit to them, leaving them shocked and worried. As they get close to Green Bit, Nami's group was horrified to see Fighting Fish attacking the Sunny. When they saw Doflamingo approaching the ship, they cried in terror but was overjoyed and relieved when Sanji intercepted him.
A Change Of Plans
When Sanji was overwhelmed and immobilized by Doflamingo's strings, Nami's group panicked. Doflamingo was about to deal a lethal blow to Sanji, but Law intervened by using Shambles and teleported Sanji, Caesar, and himself to the Thousand Sunny. Law then instructed Nami's group to head for Zo. Nami's group was reluctant to leave behind the other Straw Hats, but they complied when they realized that the ship was facing threats from both Doflamingo and Issho. After blocking an attack from Doflamingo, Law informed the Straw Hats about Doflamingo's Devil Fruit powers and instructed them to go to a place without clouds. Law then took Giolla hostage, giving Nami's group enough time to escape using Coup de Burst. After sailing far away from Dressrosa, Brook helps Nami maintain a lookout for Doflamingo. When Zoro finally made contact with Luffy at the Corrida Colosseum, the group on the Sunny engage in a conference call with both Luffy and Franky's group. After everyone was brought up to speed and learned about the true situation on Dressrosa, Sanji decided to sail back to Dressrosa to carry out their assault on Doflamingo, much to Brook's dismay. Through the Den Den Mushi, the group on the Sunny heard the skirmish occurring at the Corrida Colosseum and was surprised to hear that an admiral was also present in Dressrosa. His shock doubled, when the Big Mom Pirates appeared out of nowhere, claiming they were after Caesar Clown. Since returning to Dressrosa was not a wise option, Brook and the others on the Thousand Sunny set their course to Zou once again and also took permission from Luffy to counterattack Big Mom's ship.
The Next Island
Brook and the others managed to deal some damage to Big Mom's ship and they eluded the Big Mom Pirates thanks to a fog Nami created. They arrived at Zou the next day. After forcing Caesar to take them on the giant elephant's back, they came across Sheepshead chasing after a mink named Tristan. After saving Tristan and running from Sheepshead, they found Zou's ruined city covered in poison gas and the devastated Mink Tribe. Pedro begged Brook's group to help Inuarashi and Nekomamushi. Brook ran alongside Nami and Momonosuke on unstable terrain and accidentally cushioned Nami when she fell. The three were then confronted by Sheepshead and other pirates, wanting to know what they had done with Tristan. The elephant's trunk suddenly spewed water, causing a flood to sweep them away. Brook and Momonosuke had to be saved by Nami, who put them on a log. Sheepshead then attacked them with his Devil Fruit power, but Brook countered him. Sanji arrived and told Brook to keep his counter up for a bit longer as he defeated Sheepshead with a Diable Jambe kick. Afterwards, Brook regrouped with the others to find Tristan. After fending off Zou's enemies and forcing Caesar to neutralize the poison gas, Brook's group then tended to the minks' injuries, saving them from certain death and gaining their gratitude.

Zou Arc
Big Moms Invitation
Pekoms and Capone Bege arrived at the island several days later, and Brook and Sanji went to speak to them. Pekoms expressed his heartfelt gratitude to them for saving his fellow minks and decided to spare the Straw Hats in exchange for Caesar. Annoyed that Pekoms was letting his emotions get in the way of their mission, Bege shot Pekoms in the back. He then summoned his men from his body and captured Sanji's group and Caesar. He then took them inside his body to speak to them in private. While talking to Sanji, Bege gave him an invitation to the Big Mom Pirates' wedding Tea Party. Bege also identified him as the third son of the Vinsmoke Family and indicated he would be marrying Pudding, the 35th daughter of the Charlotte Family. As the other Straw Hats reacted to the news, Brook was shocked at hearing the name Vinsmoke. Nami then remembered Sanji's mysterious comment that he was born in the North Blue, and Brook realized that the Red Line stood between it and East Blue, meaning Sanji had to cross the Red Line to enter the East Blue and embark on a long voyage. After writing a note, Sanji gave it to his friends. He apologized to his crew, explaining it was not his intent to hide things from them, but he never expected to face this part of his past again, deciding to put an end to it alone. He then threw Nami, Chopper, and Brook out of Bege's body. Sanji snatched a rifle from one of the Fire Tank Pirates and held Caesar at gunpoint to prevent Bege's crew from going after his comrades. As Nami, Chopper, and Brook pleaded for Sanji to stay with them, Sanji promised that he would return before Bege fled with him and Caesar. Brook stopped Wanda and the other minks from taking chase, knowing Sanji did not plan on refusing his invitation. His disheartened friends were now left with just a note which made light of the situation and simply restated his promise to come back.
Reunion With Luffy
After the arrival of Law and Luffy's group, Brook greeted his fellow Straw Hats while they were feasting with the minks. He explained that Momonosuke was safe too but remained in his room. Brook also told his crewmates not to mention samurai or Wano Country to the minks. Before he could explain the reason, he was interrupted by the canine minks. As Nami was explaining to Luffy's group about the time after their separation, Brook was being played by the canine minks. Brook and the group then traveled to Duke Inuarashi's home while Wanda explained about Jack's attack on Zou in detail, revealing that he was searching for a Wano ninja called Raizo. After Wanda finished with her recollection, Brook explained to his crew the reason why they should not mention samurai or the Wano Country. When Luffy blurted out the ninja's name, Brook, Nami, and Usopp swiftly beat him up. When Wanda questioned them, Brook insisted that she misheard him. They then arrived at Inuarashi's home where Wanda introduced them to Shishilian, who expressed his gratitude to the crew. After entering the duke's home, they heard about a weapon Jack used against the Mink Tribe. After Wanda recalled the devastation caused by Jack and the Mink Tribe's salvation, the Straw Hats decided to visit Nekomamushi and the Guardians. They then traveled to the Whale Forest with Wanda and Carrot. On the way, Brook and Nami began to explain what happened when Big Mom's ship arrived at Zou two days before Luffy's arrival. After explaining about the circumstances concerning Sanji's departure from Zou, Brook sang a song about going to meet Nekomamushi. Robin asked if Nekomamushi is like what Brook described, but Brook replied that he was singing about how he imagined the ruler. When Luffy got excited, thinking that their crew would have a new member when Sanji brings back his bride with him, Brook revealed that the bride is Big Mom's daughter, meaning they would become Big Mom's underlings after Sanji's marriage. Brook also said that Sanji was against the idea and wondered if there was no way he could escape it. After Luffy decided to find Sanji, Brook suggested asking Pekoms for information. When they arrived at the Whale Forest and met Nekomamushi, Brook laughed at his antics. As Nekomamushi partied with Luffy and his group, Robin, Franky, and Brook stood guard outside Zou's gates, planning to stop Kin'emon and Kanjuro from entering. However, by the time they arrived the next morning, Robin, Franky, and Brook already fell asleep, and went unnoticed by those they planned to meet as Kanjuro's living art overshadowed them.
Revelations And A New Alliance
When they woke up, the trio realized that Kin'emon and Kanjuro went passed them and they quickly ran back to the Mokomo Dukedom, fearing what would happen if the Mink Tribe meets the samurais. The Straw Hats managed to intercept Kin'emon, Kanjuro, and Momonosuke just as they arrived at Kurau City and tried desperately to keep them hidden. However, as Nekomamushi and Inuarashi were fighting, Kin'emon and Kanjuro revealed themselves. Contrary to what the Straw Hats expected, the Mink Tribe welcomed the samurais and revealed that Raizo is safe. The Straw Hats were stunned to learn that the minks knew about Raizo all along and went to great lengths to keep him hidden despite the abuse they suffered. The Straw Hats were further shocked when Kin'emon revealed that Momonosuke was not his son, but rather the heir to the daimyo of Kuri, which surprised Brook as the two shared the same perverted traits. Inuarashi and Nekomamushi then took the Straw Hats, Law, and the samurais to a secret room inside the whale-shaped tree to see Raizo. When Robin deciphered the red Poneglyph hidden in the Whale Tree, Inuarashi then explained to the Straw Hats about the four Road Poneglyphs and they listened in anticipation as he revealed how they can lead to Laugh Tale. When Nekomamushi revealed that Kaidou and Big Mom each possessed one Road Poneglyph, Brook, Usopp, Chopper, and Nami were deeply shocked. The Straw Hats were then surprised when Nekomamushi revealed that Momonosuke's ancestors created the poneglyphs. However, the samurais explained that Momonosuke never inherited the knowledge of the Poneglyphs due to the execution of Lord Oden at the hands of Kaidou and the shogun of Wano. The Straw Hats also learned that Oden was part of Roger's crew and had been on Laugh Tale with him as well as the Beasts Pirates' objective in obtaining the secret that Oden knew. The samurais explained Oden's will to open the Wano Country to the world and they went on a journey to gather allies to defeat Kaidou and the shogun of Wano. When Luffy declined Kin'emon's request for an alliance and said that Momonosuke should make the request himself, Brook told Luffy that Momonosuke is only a child. However, Momonosuke humbly did so and Luffy agreed. Brook then watched Luffy form an alliance with the samurais and the Mink Tribe. Right after leaving the secret room, Brook and the others learned that Inuarashi and Nekomamushi traveled with Oden and had been on the ships of both Whitebeard and Roger. The alliance decided to split up to accomplish different tasks and meet up again at Wano. Brook, Chopper, and Nami chose to accompany Luffy in his mission to rescue Sanji. However, before they could start their operation, they felt Zou shaking and heard Zunesha crying. As everything shook around them, they witnessed Luffy and Momonosuke's ability to hear Zunesha's voice. They then heard from Momonosuke that Jack returned to Zou and started attacking Zunesha. On Momonosuke's command, Zunesha sank Jack's fleet with one blow. With the threat of Jack ended, everyone became calm again. After Luffy retrieved Pekoms and Pedro volunteered to help save Sanji, Brook departed Zou with the Sanji retrieval team. Everyone, except for the Straw Hat members left behind, were shocked when Luffy jumped off Zou with his party.
Journey To Whole Cake Island
As they sailed towards Whole Cake Island on the Thousand Sunny, Brook, Nami, and Chopper were still recovering from the shock of Luffy's stunt at Zou. They were then surprised to see Carrot has snuck aboard the ship. After she begged them not to turn back, the group allowed her to come along. When the crew got hungry, Luffy insisted on preparing a meal himself because Nami was going to charge them money for the food. Brook and the rest of the Sanji retrieval team then learned from a newspaper about the Blackbeard Pirates' attack on the Revolutionary Army's headquarters on Baltigo, surprising everyone on board. After passing through a storm, Luffy presented his dish, which the group did not enjoy in the least. Luffy then admitted that he used up all the food they had and the group found themselves in a food shortage crisis.
Whole Cake Island Arc
Entering Totto Land
A few days later, the group was famished from the lack of food and overheated as they passed through boiling waters. They were saved from starvation when Luffy managed to catch a gigantic fish. The group, except for Luffy, enjoyed a meal prepared by Nami using Sanji's recipe. Luffy was incapacitated by food poisoning after eating the fish's toxic skin. After entering Big Mom's waters, the group was approached by a ship belonging to Germa 66. When they saw a hooded man aboard the ship, the group mistook him for Sanji until the man revealed himself to be Sanji's younger brother, Vinsmoke Yonji. When Luffy's condition worsened, Yonji refused to provide any aid and taunted the group to try to take the antidote by force until Sanji's older sister, Reiju, appeared and kicked Yonji for his rudeness. After she boarded the Thousand Sunny, Brook asked Pekoms if the Vinsmoke Family was the royal family that once ruled all of North Blue with their military might. Reiju explained to Brook that the Vinsmoke Family still hold the status of royalty even though they currently have no land to rule. She then cured Luffy by sucking the poison out of him. Yonji and Reiju then departed without reporting the Sanji retrieval team's presence. The group later docked at Cacao Island, an island close to Whole Cake Island and has buildings made of chocolate. After Nami and Carrot wore their new dresses, Nami beat up Brook for peeking under her skirt. The team then saw Luffy and Chopper got into trouble by eating a café and were about to be arrested. As Brook plead to Pedro not to use violence, they were saved by Charlotte Pudding, who then invited the Sanji retrieval team into her home where she offered them food. The Sanji retrieval team was then shocked to learn that the woman they were conversing with was Sanji's bride-to-be, who in turn, was surprised to discover that the group was from the Straw Hat crew. After calming down, Brook and the team listened as Pudding explained more about the Charlotte Family and her thoughts about Sanji. Brook was shocked to hear that Sanji turned her down. Pudding then showed them a secret route to Whole Cake Island and told them where to meet her while promising to bring Sanji to them. The Sanji retrieval team then left in a hurry when guards arrived for Pudding and quickly returned to the Thousand Sunny. Pekoms was nowhere to be seen and they found a message telling them to turn back. After leaving Cacao Island, the team sailed on Pudding's route. Nami decided that they should not get to close to the island in order to avoid Big Mom's surveillance, and she left the rest of the navigation to Brook. The Thousand Sunny was then attacked by a giant aquatic centipede, and the team prepared to fight it. The team later battled a swarm of giant ants before getting trapped in a frozen sea of syrup as night fell. After Brook put the ants to sleep, they worked to unfreeze the sea. Brook and the rest of the team listened as Pedro revealed his past history in Totto Land and his plan to steal Big Mom's Road Poneglyph. The next day, the team reached Whole Cake Island.
Poneglyph Retrieval Mission
After docking at the southwestern coast of Whole Cake Island, the team split into two groups. Brook and Pedro took the Shark Submerge III with the objective to infiltrate Big Mom's palace and acquire a copy of her Road Poneglyph. Brook and Pedro later infiltrated Sweet City and read a newspaper article stating that Jinbe reconsidered his decision to leave Big Mom's crew. They then discovered Pudding with Baron Tamago at a bridal store. While eavesdropping on Tamago's conversation with his subordinates, Brook and Pedro learned that Big Mom and her crew were aware of the Sanji retrieval team's movements. Brook and Pedro then hid themselves inside a biscuit soldier and waited to be taken to Big Mom's castle. They managed to infiltrate the castle and were seen hiding inside the alcohol storehouse. After surveying the Room of Treasure in his ghost form, Brook saw how heavily guarded the Poneglyphs were, especially with Sweet Commander Smoothie. Realizing that their chances of success were slim to none and that they would not get another chance even with the rest of the Straw Hats, the duo then planned to have Pedro act as a decoy. While Pedro was distracting the guards, Brook prepared to give a special live concert. As Smoothie stood outside the Room of Treasure, Brook managed to slip past her. After locking the door, Brook battled the chess soldiers inside the room, suppressing the souls that had been put into them with his own soul. After defeating everyone in the treasure room, Brook took a key from one of the defeated guards. Right as he finished copying the Poneglyphs, Big Mom busted into the room and confronted him, giving him barely enough time to hide the copies inside his skull. Brook was quickly overwhelmed by Big Mom and her homies Zeus and Prometheus, but kept getting back up. Big Mom questioned his motives, and Brook replied that he was determined to acquire her Road Poneglyph no matter what, as it would make their voyage to Totto Land worth something even if they failed to rescue Sanji. Big Mom brought up the possibility of all of them dying, but Brook refused to ever consider it. Brook was eventually subdued and captured by the Emperor, though he managed to injure one of her top homies Prometheus. After failing to find any copies of her Poneglyphs in Brook's clothes and cylinder, she lost her anger and caressed him affectionately. When Pudding entered the room, Brook then learned that Pudding is part of the Three-Eye Tribe and that she was supposed to possess some mysterious power that would enable Big Mom to read the Poneglyphs. Big Mom took Brook with her as she left the treasure room. Big Mom then took Brook with her to the Queen's Chamber. As Big Mom was having a conversation with Pudding, Brook learned about Pudding's sinister nature and the plot to assassinate the Vinsmoke Family. Soon afterwards, Big Mom went to bed while still holding Brook, and Brook managed to fall asleep as well. Big Mom dropped Brook on the floor while tossing and turning, and Nami emerged from a mirror to retrieve Brook. However, when Nami woke him up, Brook saw the dummy of him the others had made to switch him with and let out a scream of fright, thinking it was a ghost. Big Mom threw Prometheus at the two of them, but Jinbe managed to pull the two of them back into the Mirro-World as Prometheus caused an explosion. Brook then reunited with Chopper, Pedro, and Carrot. Pedro apologized for making him go on this mission, but Brook stated that it was worth it as he pulled out the copies of Big Mom's Poneglyphs from within his skull. Brook's group later contacted Luffy and Sanji through a mirror shard and they were surprised when Luffy decided to ruin the wedding ceremony. Brook then listened as Jinbe explained more about Bege, such as his backstory and him plotting against Big Mom. He was shocked when Jinbe proposed to form an alliance with Bege. Luffy agreed to meet with Bege even though Brook voted against this.
The Wedding
Brook and his group arrived at Bege's hideout before Luffy and Sanji. After taking a bath, Brook accompanied his team inside the meeting room. As Bege explained his plan to kill Big Mom, Brook listened attentively. The meeting adjourned once Bege finished going over the plan. After the wedding ceremony began, the team initially encountered a small problem when Jinbe had difficulty waking Luffy up. After they woke Luffy with food, the team went inside the Mirro-World and prepared to charge into the venue. Once they heard the signal, they unleashed duplicates of Luffy into the venue. While they were causing a ruckus at the wedding ceremony, Brook entered the venue disguised as Luffy as well. While Big Mom was distracted by Jinbe and Luffy, Brook smashed the picture of Mother Carmel with a hammer. As the guests were shocked at his actions, Brook removed his Luffy mask and revealed himself to Big Mom, causing her to go into a stunned state. During the ensuing conflict with the Big Mom Pirates, Brook was decapitated but still survived. While Bege was "holding down" Luffy, Brook whispered to Luffy that Big Mom was in a state of confusion on what to be mad about and their best chance was to show her the broken photo of Carmel again. Luffy successfully caused Big Mom to start screaming, immobilizing her children and crew in the process. After reattaching his head to his body, Brook watched as Bege, Vito, and Gotti fired their KX Launchers at Big Mom. However, Big Mom's scream detonated the rockets before they could reach her, shocking Brook and his allies. With the assassination attempt a failure, Caesar flew into the venue with the escape mirror and Bege signaled the alliance members to retreat. Before they could escape into the mirror, Big Mom's scream shattered it, leaving them trapped in the venue. Brook then watched Bege transforming into a giant fortress to save the alliance. Brook's group and the Vinsmoke Family then retreated inside the fortress. However, the alliance found themselves in a dire situation as the fortress came under attack by a furious Big Mom.
Escape From Totto Land
As Bege's fortress suffered damage from Big Mom's attacks, Nami stopped Luffy from fighting her. Brook agreed with Nami when she said that there was no point in fighting Big Mom, given that they achieved their objectives. Brook also tried to persuade Luffy that they should go to Wano safely and meet up with Zoro. Brook then listened as Bege came up with a plan to escape with Caesar's help. After the Vinsmoke Family exited Bege's body to distract the Big Mom Pirates, Brook cried in shock when Luffy and Sanji engaged Big Mom in combat to save Reiju. While Caesar was evading the Big Mom Pirates with Bege in tow, Brook cheered for him. Just when the Big Mom Pirates routed Luffy's group, Bege's crew, and the Vinsmokes, the Tamatebako dropped to the base of the Whole Cake Chateau and exploded, causing the castle to topple over. As the castle collapsed, Luffy's group, Bege's crew, and the Vinsmoke Family got away. The Sanji Retrieval Team and the Fire Tank Pirates rendezvous at the northwest part of Whole Cake Island, where Luffy and Bege agreed to go their separate ways. After Bege left, Brook and Chopper volunteered to retrieve the Shark Submerge and take it back to the Thousand Sunny. After retrieving the Shark Submerge, Brook and Chopper navigated through the juice river back to the coast where the Sunny was located. Once they returned to their ship, they found Perospero, Katakuri, and an army of chess soldiers on board. The two Straw Hats then prepared to fight to take back their ship. On the Sunny's deck, Brook and Chopper fought and defeated numerous Chess Soldiers. Knowing that the soldiers were coming from the mirror in Nami's room, Brook told Chopper to smash it. Perospero then took direct action against Brook and Chopper, covering them with candy and intending to kill them by turning them into candy. However, the Sanji Retrieval Team managed to return to the ship, but they were still chased by Big Mom. After Perospero trapped the ship in candy, Brook and Chopper watched in shock as Pedro attempted to take out Perospero with a suicidal explosion. Thanks to Pedro's efforts, the candy encasing Brook and Chopper dissolved, freeing them. After Luffy grabbed and dragged Katakuri into the Mirro-World, Brook and his group on the Thousand Sunny escaped Whole Cake Island with a Coup de Burst. As the team mourned Pedro's self sacrifice and lamented on their inability to save him, Jinbe encouraged them to press on and keep their guard up. With the team spurred into action, Brook went to restock the cola they used for Coup de Burst. While under siege by the Big Mom Pirates, Brook saw flame arrows being fired through a mirror inside the bathroom. As Nami was telling the team to break all the mirrors in the Sunny, the team encountered another dire predicament when Big Mom created a massive wave homie to engulf the Thousand Sunny. However, thanks to Jinbe's skills as a helmsman, the team managed to come out of that situation unharmed. They then contacted Luffy through a mirror shard and told him to find a mirror connecting to Cacao Island so they could meet him there. As they were getting closer to Cacao Island, Jinbe told the group to prepare for a battle. The group on the Sunny was later surprised to find themselves once again pursued by Big Mom and a fleet of Tarteships. They were initially able to hold their own, but they later discovered another fleet of Tarteships led by Daifuku in front of them. As they were about to be surrounded by the Big Mom Pirates, they thought about a counterattack. Carrot told the rest of the team to leave this to her, and they watched with amazement as Carrot transformed into her Sulong form and launched an attack on Daifuku's crew. As the ships in Daifuku's fleet were damaged in the scuffle between Carrot and Daifuku, Jinbe revealed that Carrot faced the risk of exhaustion from using her Sulong form. Brook then decided to assist Carrot and ran across the sea to her location. Just when Carrot was feeling fatigued, Brook grabbed her and carried her back to the Sunny. However, Brook and his group later faced despair after Big Mom summoned Zeus and Prometheus back to her side and prepared to directly attack the Sunny. Brook watched as Big Mom tore through the ship searching for the cake and was worried for Jinbe after Big Mom sent him flying into the ocean. Brook also panicked as Prometheus' flames lit the Sunny's sails on fire, but was relieved when Jinbe doused the fire with a wave of seawater and was amazed when the fish-man knocked Big Mom off the Sunny with Fish-Man Karate. When Big Mom prepared to slice the entire ship in half, Nami distracted Zeus, and Brook took the cloud homie's attack in her place. He then bisected Zeus with a powerful sword slash, allowing Nami to send her thunderclouds to the cloud homie, forcing it to discharge and engulf Big Mom in a massive blast of lightning. Brook returned to the Sunny, having captured a weakened Zeus. As the group on the Sunny quickly moved to escape, Big Mom continued to chase them. As Big Mom continued her onslaught on the Sunny with Prometheus in gigantic size, Brook was amazed at the extent of Big Mom's power. As the Nostra Castello approached the Thousand Sunny, Brook was overjoyed to see Sanji again. After Pudding brought Sanji to the Straw Hats' ship, Brook and Nami embraced Sanji. When Sanji asked about Carrot and Pedro, Brook lied about Pedro's fate. With the Fire Tank Pirates luring Big Mom away with the cake, the Straw Hats continued on to Cacao Island to retrieve Luffy. On the way, the group on the Sunny learned from Sanji that the Big Mom Pirates were aware of their rendezvous point. After Sanji and Pudding went ahead to Cacao Island to help Luffy, the group on the Sunny evade Smoothie's attacks. Brook informed the group that Sanji would contact them if anything happened before wondering if Smoothie was a giant due to her gigantic appearance. As the promised rendezvous time drew near, Nami pointed out that Luffy needed Brûlée in order to leave the Mirro-World, causing the group to become concerned, given Luffy's absent-mindedness. With a few minutes remaining, Cacao Island was in sight. As the Sunny group sailed past the port of Cacao Island, they were overjoyed to see Sanji and Luffy coming towards them. Luffy and Sanji returned to the Sunny and the group quickly made their retreat from Cacao Island. The group was then besieged by Smoothie's fleet, but Judge came to their rescue. After the Sunny passed by Judge's castle, the group later saw enemy ships approaching them from the front and when the situation grew more dire, they were surprised when Wadatsumi appeared and attacked the enemy. The Sun Pirates cleared a path for the Sunny. However, despite their efforts, the Sunny was intercepted and attacked by the Queen Mama Chanter. Wadatsumi saved the Sunny by switching it with the Sun Pirates' ship and hid the Sunny in his mouth. Wadatsumi tried swimming away, but Oven attacked him with heat waves, forcing him to spit out the Sunny. As the Sun Pirates held back the Big Mom Pirates, Jinbe decided to stay behind to help them and Luffy consented to his decision. After Jinbe joined his former crew in battle, the Sunny group sailed far away from Cacao Island. With the Big Mom Pirates unable to pursue, the Sunny group successfully escaped Totto Land. After some rest, Sanji cooked a meal for them.
Levely Arc
On the way to Wano, Carrot received a newspaper and showed it to the group. The group then saw that Sanji and Luffy received new bounties. Initially, the group misread Luffy's new bounty as 150,000,000. Brook later took a closer look at Luffy's poster and the group was shocked to learn that Luffy's bounty actually increased to 1,500,000,000.
Wano Country Saga
Wano Country Arc
Infiltration In Wano Country
As the Thousand Sunny continued towards Wano Country, the group was informed of the Levely through a newspaper. They later encountered an unusual weather disturbance in their direction, followed by an octopus on their ship as well as a school of huge carp on their side. After a bumpy ride across a river, the ship climbed up a waterfall. Once they reached the top, they came across a whirlpool. Sanji carried Nami, Chopper, Carrot, and Brook away from the ship, but Luffy got dragged into the whirlpool along with the Sunny. After Luffy got separated, the group searched for him, but they only found his Vivre Card. They later got in touch with Kin'emon and they reunited with Luffy at the ruins of Oden Castle. With Law, Momonosuke, and Kiku also present, Kin'emon explained how he and his group traveled through time to escape Orochi's attack twenty years ago. Brook then listened as Kin'emon explained more about the past such as the story of Oden, the time of his execution, the rumor about Toki, and what Kin'emon's group did right after arriving at present time. Kin'emon then went over a plan to attack Onigashima, the island where Kaidou resided, in two weeks. Kin'emon explained more about the Fire Festival and how the decisive battle would play out. He then gave the group specific tasks to do and explained that Brook's ability would be useful in gathering food. After giving the group new clothes, he introduced them to Shinobu. When Kaidou arrived at Kuri, Law alerted the group. The group was surprised to see Kaidou and they learned that Luffy, Zoro, and Law were already exposed. Luffy rushed off to protect Okobore Town and Law chased after him and told the rest to remain unseen. After Kin'emon and Kiku left to rescue Tsuru, the rest at Oden Castle noticed Kaidou coming to their direction and tried to flee as Kaidou destroyed the castle with a fire breath. Shinobu saved the males of the group by using her Devil Fruit power to sink them into the ground while Sanji carried Carrot and Nami away. Kiku then returned and told them what happened to Luffy.
Chaos And Complications
Brook later infiltrated Orochi's castle and discovered a Poneglyph in the palace basement. While Brook was hiding in a well, Nami called and informed him that Robin had been discovered by the Orochi Oniwabanshu. Brook then went to the banquet hall in spirit form and assisted Robin by scaring away the ninjas who had surrounded her. Brook was shocked when he witnessed Kyoshiro striking down Komurasaki. Brook continued scaring Orochi's ninjas as Nami unleashed Zeus' lightning in the banquet hall. After escaping Orochi's castle, Brook and his group dropped Toko off in the red light district before meeting up with Kanjuro at the Northern Graveyards in the Ringo region. During their meeting, Brook mentioned the room containing the Poneglyph. Brook later went to the house where Zoro, Hiyori, and Toko were staying at. After getting acquainted with Hiyori, Brook told them about Komurasaki's funeral as well as Tonoyasu's capture and planned execution. Toko rushed to the Flower Capital with Brook, Zoro, and Hiyori running after her. They later arrived at the Rasetsu Town prison only to witness Tonoyasu's execution. Brook then listened to Hiyori's explanation of the SMILE fruits and how the people of Ebisu Town were robbed of their ability to express sadness and anger. As Usopp fled with Toko in the chaos started by Zoro and Sanji, Brook told Hiyori to escape as well before using his spirit form to frighten members of the Orochi Oniwabanshu. After escaping Orochi's forces, Brook, Robin, Usopp, and Toko (who cried herself to sleep and was hidden under Brook's robes) snuck out of the Flower Capital. While riding on a boat, Brook handed Toko to Robin. He later joined a meeting with several key alliance members at Amigasa Village.
Raid On Onigashima
Two days before the raid on Onigashima, Brook was given new armor by Tenguyama Hitetsu. On the day of the Fire Festival, the Straw Hats sailed to Tokage Port on the Thousand Sunny to join the Scabbards and enter the battle with the Beasts Pirates. While Kanjuro fled to Onigashima with Momonosuke in tow, the Straw Hats learned that Kanjuro was a spy working for Orochi. As the alliance was attacked by a Beasts Pirates ship with long ranged cannons, the Straw Hats were overjoyed to see Jinbe arriving and joining the battle. With Jinbe officially part of the crew, the Straw Hats proceeded to take over the torii in front of Onigashima. The crew then arrived at Onigashima with the rebels. After disembarking, Brook received a Beasts Pirates disguise from Kin'emon. As they made their way into Kaidou's stronghold, Brook rode on the Kurosai FR-U IV. Brook and Franky later arrived at the Live Stage. As Big Mom forced Zeus to attack Nami, Brook sliced Zeus in two with his sword. Once the rest of the crew arrived, all of the Straw Hats assembled on the Live Stage. After Queen unleashed the Ice Oni virus, Brook, Chopper, and Robin found themselves under attack by those infected. Though Brook was amazed by his immunity to the virus after being touched by one of the infected, he was shocked when Robin discovered that Chopper was infected by the virus. After discovering that fire halted the progression of the virus, Chopper had Brook hold a torch next to him as he ran and gave a speech to the pirates and samurai, promising to mass-produce a cure from the vial of antibodies. When the island shook after Zoro yelled at Queen, Brook wondered if it was Zoro's Supreme King Haki, but Zoro denied it. When Marco used his flames on Chopper to halt the spread of the Ice Oni virus, Brook and Zoro misunderstood Marco's intention and attacked him. While the samurai, Drake, and Marco stayed behind to guard Chopper, Brook and Robin ran into the castle. Brook and Robin heard Sanji's cry for help broadcasted throughout Onigashima. They went to the Grand Banquet Hall on the third floor, and Brook destroyed Black Maria's traps before freeing Sanji from the webs binding him. Brook and Robin then prepared to fight Black Maria. As they fought, Maria released an Illusion Mist, which caused the two Straw Hats to see visions of their deceased loved one's. It proved ineffective against Brook as he was used to such things after spending decades of loneliness in the Florian Triangle, but when he saw it effected Robin, he called out to her insisting it was an illusion. He was relieved when she broke out of it as they both retreated from Maria and her subordinates. When Maria set the floor aflame with her polearm, Robin hung from the ceiling using Spider Net, while carrying Brook. Seeing that the true identity of the burning polearm is a Pug Gifter running inside the wheel and generating flames, Brook used Cold Soul to freeze him. He then used Eisbahn to put out the flames on the floor, before engaging Maria's subordinates in battle, leaving the Tobiroppo to Robin. As Black Maria taunted Robin whilst they fought, Brook simply laughed at the spider-woman's foolishness. In order to impede his opponents, he made a very narrow passage in between two large ice blocks he created. When Maria screamed as she was defeated by Robin, her worried subordinates all crowded around the narrow gap. Brook then suddenly collapsed the ice, and with all the subordinates' lined up, he defeated them simultaneously with Phrase d'armes: Orchestra. He then rushed to support Robin as she collapsed from her wounds and exhaustion. Brook later carried Robin in his arms as they escaped from the spreading fire. Brook then called Jinbe and informed him about the fire on the third floor. After Robin awoke, she and Brook continued running through the castle and fought some Beasts Pirates on their way alongside members of the Mink Tribe. Eventually, two CP0 agents Guernika and Maha appeared in order to arrest Robin. Brook once again took Robin in his arms and jumped down to a lower floor to flee. Brook continued jumping down until he reached the second basement floor of the Kaidou Castle, where they ended up safely landing on Fuga's hair. Cornered by CP0, Brook and Robin prepared to fight against their pursuers, but they were just as shocked as everyone else when the Kazenbo made its way downwards, igniting the CP0 agents on the way. Fortunately for them, the Kazenbo created a wall of flames between the Straw Hats and the agents, giving them the opportunity to flee. After a shaking caused by Big Mom's fall led to the island to shake, Brook and Robin fled from the falling debris and ended up trapped in the basement alongside some samurai. Later, both Brook and Robin were caught in the flood of water that was released from Raizo. After the Raid ended, Brook stopped an irritated Franky from continuing fighting the rest of the Beast Pirates when they refused to accept Kaidou's defeat. Later, Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats were introduced to Yamato, who wanted to join them, which delighted both Brook and Sanji, and surprised the crew.
A New Dawn In Wano Country
A week later, after Luffy and Zoro woke up, most of the crew gathered in the shogun's castle. When Nami refused to cuddle with an adult Momonosuke, both Brook and Sanji laughed after the shogun was struck by the straw hats' navigator. Later, Brook joined the men's bath. During the second festival, Brook enjoys the festivities and joins Hiyori in playing the song "Moon Princess" for everyone at the festival. He later seen celebrating the alliance's successful victory. He, along with the rest of crew then hear Robin explain about the Poneglyph and Pluton being in Wano. A couple of days later, the crew leaves to Tokage Port and prepares to leave Wano, with Yamato and an angry Momonosuke and Kin'emon wanting to say properly say their final goodbyes. After doing so the crew, tells them that they are all welcome to join when they are ready, and then they leave the port. As Nami prepares to lead the ship safely to Mogura Port, Luffy, upset by Kid's taunting about taking the safe route, forces the ship to go over the waterfall again, upsetting the crew in the process. After a rough landing, the ship begins to sail away from Wano.
Final Saga
Egghead Arc
Days after leaving Wano, Brook listened as Robin read out their new bounties and status in the world. Brook was quite pleased after hearing of his bounty increase, and was later shocked to hear the news regarding the Levely, including Princess Nefertari Vivi's disappearance and Sabo's assassination of King Nefertari Cobra. Brook was shocked by the news, stating that no one had ever been displeased with the Arabasta Kingdom or their ruler before, and was skeptical about Sabo's involvement in the matter. Luffy, however, was convinced of his brother's innocence, and told everyone about the promise he, Sabo, and Ace had made as children, even stating the ultimate goal of their dream, which shocked everyone. After hearing that, Brook burst into laughter, tearing up even over the hilarity of Luffy's dream. A few days later, the group experienced harsh weather and was a massive column of water in the air, which Nami claimed was a warm eddy that was being pushed upward. As Chopper and Luffy were blown away and Jinbe went after them and the girl who was trapped in the eddy, the ship was then attacked by a mechanical shark. While the crew tried to deal with the shark, they were rescued by a Vegaforce-01, piloted by a Lilith. After the woman tried to rob the crew after saving them, she was stopped by Shaka, who told her to bring the Straw Hats onto the island. After being brought to Egghead by Lilith, the crew decided to go inside the lab, while Brook and Zoro decided to stay on the ship. Brook and Zoro discussed their decision, stating that since they were on a government island, it was better for someone to stay and guard the ship. Caribou sat across from them and asked if they could give him a lift off the island, but Brook ignored him and Zoro coldly tried to get him to just leave. Later on, when CP0 arrived at the Labophase with the Seraphim, Kaku tried to attack the Thousand Sunny, only for his attack to be stopped by Zoro. As Brook prepared to back Zoro up in his rematch against Kaku, they were both shocked when suddenly one of the agents, Stussy attacked and knocked Kaku out and planned to do the same to Rob Lucci. After taking both Lucci and Kaku down, Stussy revealed that she was actually a spy for Vegapunk, and subdued the agents with seastone before being asked by Shaka to join them all in escaping Egghead. Brook and Zoro go with Stussy to lab, bringing the captured CP0 agents with them and changing into new clothes. They then reunite with the others. After Shaka informs everyone that the Main Vegapunk is still missing and that the building is still on lockdown, everyone decides to split up and go looking for him, with Luffy and Zoro staying behind to watch over Lucci and Kaku. As everyone splits up, Brook and Nami end up with Edison, and as they are searching they come under attack by the seraphim, S-Shark. The Seraphim knocks Brook's head off his body, and heavily damages Edison, leaving Nami to fend him off with help from Zeus. However, even with Zeus' help, Nami could not damage him, and just as Brook reattaches his head to rejoin the fight, Sanji suddenly appears and angrily knocks the Seraphim away from Nami, stating that it was going to pay for trying to hurt her. As Sanji holds S-Shark back, Nami tries to help Edison and Brook decides to look for Vegapunk in his soul form. Sometime after Brook regrouped with the rest of the crew and Vegapunk after York was subdued. When Brook along with Nami and Usopp saw that Kizaru had engaged in combat with Sentomaru to reach Vegapunk inside the dome, he expressed that it reminded him of the events of Sabaody and was worried when he decided to to go after Luffy's group. When a light clone of Kizaru managed to slip past Luffy to attack Usopp Brook pulled out his saber in an attempt to attack him. Later, Brook accompanied Lilith on the Thousand Sunny, devising a plan to use his Devil fruit ability to generate an ice path on the Island Clouds to glide across to the rear entrance. Lilith initially praised his plan but wondered how Brook would get the ship to stop, to which Brook had no answer. Nami then called Brook again asking where he was now, Brook responded they were almost passing the entrance prompting Lilith to slap him and take contact to tell Nami something. Brook and Lilith were then saved due to Usopp's Midori Boshi: Take Jave Rin that caught the Sunny before it slid off the island. While saved and regrouped Lilith was still annoyed at Brook. When Jaygarcia Saturn caught up to the crew and attempted to kill Robin, Brook and the others leap into action to protect her, and managed to cut off one of the Elders limbs. The Straw Hats were brushed aside by Saturn, but caught by Robins Spider Net before any serious harm could befall them. After Saturn left, Brook called out to Zoro and Jinbe for help, but Nami pointed out to the group that the clouds they were on begun to extend with Brook and Usopp realizing that it was done by Edison so their ship could reach the sea. Brook then went to load up the cola barrels so they could fire off at any time. While Atlas sacrificed herself to hold off Nusjuro, Brook finished loading the cola, and Jinbe blasted the Coup De Burst, sending the Sunny flying down to the sea. As the Sunny finally landed safely in the sea, the crew sailed away from Egghead alongside the Giant Warrior Pirates, setting course for Elbaph. Not long after, the Giants attempted a celebration , but decided to cancel it so that Luffy could recover. During the downtime, Brook would watch over Lilith, staying near her side until she awoke. When the Straw Hats attempted to inform her of the situation, all were confused when she stated that she already knew what was going on. Brook led her to the mourning Luffy, warning her of his captain's current gloomy nature due to believing he failed Vegapunk. Sanji would eventually ask how she knew the situation already, leading to her informing the Straw Hats that the other Vegapunks were all still alive somehow, to their complete shock. Later, Brook would join in on the actual party, playing his guitar and celebrating amongst his friends.
Elbaph Arc
Two days after the celebration, only Brook, Franky, Robin, and Jinbe were aboard the Great Eirik, as the other six members of the Straw Hats had disappeared, along with the Thousand Sunny. Despite all their efforts, no trace of them or the ship could be found, leading them to end the search and continue towards Elbaph, as they hoped that they would reunite with Luffy's group. Later, Brook listened to Robin as she read aloud the newspapers, detailing the reported events of the Egghead Incident, which stated that the Straw Hat and Giant Warrior Pirates attacked the Island, Luffy had killed Vegapunk, and Dorry and Broggy now had updated bounties. The Giants then discuss the topic of what's currently happening on Elbaph, as they explain that Hajrudin remained on Elbaph due to his brother, the so-called "Accursed Prince", with Jinbe correctly guessing that they were referring to Loki. The crew then listened in shock as the Giants explained that Loki had killed his own father to obtain a legendary devil fruit passed down through the royal family. They were even more surprised to learn that it took all of Elbaph's warriors to imprison him for his actions, and that if Loki were freed from his prison, it would mean the end of Elbaph. Later, Robin asked Brook to give her a haircut. Brook accepted, despite being very nervous about making a mistake, and managed to complete the task, with Robin thanking him saying that it was perfect. After receiving praise for his work, Brook joyfully responded with one of his jokes, as the crew noticed that they had finally reached Elbaph. As the ship entered Elbaph's shores, the Giant Warrior Pirates guide the ship to a rainbow that stretched towards a massive tree, with the Giants stating that they were heading to the village on the rainbow. As the ship began to ride the rainbow, everyone was amazed by the journey, and Hajrudin and Stansen eventually joined them midway up the rainbow aboard their own ship, following them to the village. After Broggy explains how Elbaph's layout works, they all eventually reach the top of the rainbow, leading to where the Sun World is located, as Brook and the others are mesmerized by the sight of the Giant's village. Not long after docking, Luffy's group appeared, leading to a brief, but happy reunion with the entire crew and the Giant Warrior Pirates, as well as Hajrudin introducing his entire crew to everyone. Although Hajrudin had a feast planned for everyone, the crew decided that to go with Robin as she had planned go alone to have her reunion with Jaguar D. Saul. With Gerd guiding them on a Svarr, they all head to the Warrior's Spring, where they are informed upon arrival that Saul had fallen and would not get up. Despite most of the crew being either worried or annoyed by the news, Robin calmly approached Saul, fully aware that he was fine and just trying to greet her. After a long talk, the two tearfully embrace one another, with Brook and most of the crew bursting into tears of joy at the sight. Following Luffy's meeting with Saul and his assistant, Ange, the crew left the beach to visit the Walrus School. Brook considered it exciting, as he hadn't been to school in a very long time. After a few antics involving Luffy, Usopp, and the biology teacher, Ripley, and her son, Colon, the Straw Hats planned to split into separate groups, in order to see the separate parts of Elbaph. However, before they could set out, a sheepish Gerd offered up human-sized clothes that she had made herself. Brook was happy with the new clothing, and asked his crewmates if he looked like a warrior. Afterward, Brook returned to the banquet alongside Luffy, Nami, Sanji, Usopp, Zoro, and Jinbe, where they received a large cheer for their exploits. Brook was personally approached by a few giants during the festivities, who questioned what he was, as they had never seen a living skeleton before. To answer, Brook broke out into song, which each of the giants enjoyed. Sometime later, Scopper Gaban was brought up at the banquet, as he had been a resident of Elbaph for a while, as the lover of Ripley, and the father of Colon. After Nami's return to the banquet, and subsequent introduction to Jarul by Usopp, Usopp drunkenly slapped the sword in Jarul's head, earning him scrutiny for his carelessness. Brook, who was also wasted, hypocritically attempted to call Usopp out, but ended up being put down by Nami. Not long after, the banquet ended up being canceled as a call came in about "monsters" attacking the Walrus School. In addition, a fire had been started on Branch 8 by a partially-freed Loki. Before they could be moved to a safe location, Nami flagged down Jarul and informed him that intruders were likely on Elbaph, and offered her crew's services in tracking them down. While he was happy to use the information, Jarul rejected their request to help, on the grounds that they, as guests, shouldn't have to worry about defending a foreign nation. Despite that, the Straw Hats were unable to simply sit around and wait, and conspired to assist in locating the intruders, while the giants fought the off the MMA. Not far from their location, Colon was packing a svarr with the intent of fighting as well, giving them an opportunity to take to the skies for the search. When the Straw Hats offered their services, Colon was ecstatic at the prospect of "leading" his own crew, and proclaimed himself to be "captain" of the "Colon Pirates". As they sailed through the skies of Elbaph, the crew came across sleepwalking children, being directed straight through a fire. Brook and his crewmates cheered Jinbe on as he used Umigumo Ipponzeoi to throw a large amount of water onto the fire, saving the children's lives. However, the celebration was short-lived, as the Straw Hats were suddenly confronted by Gunko, a member of the God's Knights. The Straw Hats immediately came to the conclusion that Gunko was one of the human intruders on Elbaph, but were confused by her negative reaction to actually being called a human. After further questioning, each of the Straw Hats came to the realization that they were facing a World Noble, with Brook in particular realizing her status as God's Knight. Subsequently, a fight began. Brook stood aside as Usopp and Nami tried their attacks, but to no avail, as Gunko's devil fruit allowed her to redirect their attacks, and a strange regenerative ability made permanently damaging her seemingly impossible. After she subdued Colon, Brook and Jinbe moved to attack her, but found their attacks redirected at each other instead, causing friendly fire. The fight concluded with each of the Straw Hats flung from the svarr, unable to save Colon from his new captor. Shortly afterward, Gunko dropped Colon off with the rest of the hostages, before tying up each of the Straw Hats and taking them to Sommers' location. While there, Brook slowly began to recognize Gunko, before he was abruptly threatened by her. Gunko informed Brook that she planned to take him back to Mary Geoise, where he would become her slave and make music for her for the rest of his life. However, Brook apologized and outright refused her demand, on the grounds that his loyalty lied solely with Luffy. As a result, Gunko began to furiously attack Brook. Eventually, Gunko finished taking out her rage on him, and left Brook wrapped up like a mummy while Sommers continued with his ultimatum. Fortunately, Robin decided at that moment to make a move, and used her Devil Fruit to attack Sommers, before sending a clone to tackle him off the branch while she tried to free her crewmates. The apparent victory was short-lived, unfortunately, as Robin discovered Gunko's bindings to be too tough to cut through. To make matters worse, Sommers had used his own Devil Fruit powers to ascend back to the branch, and proceeded to bind Robin in a bush of thorns. Robin was almost dealt a fatal blow, but a quick last-minute maneuver by Gaban stopped Sommers. The Straw Hats were collectively shocked to see Gaban as someone actually capable of wounding one of the immortal God's Knights. While Gaban continued to scuffle with Sommers, Nami revealed their savior's identity to her friends, further surprising them. After a short battle, Gaban managed to land a critical slash, bypassing Sommers immortality, and leaving him as nothing more than a head on the ground. Since Gaban was in a rush to save his son, he left the Straw Hats tied up, forcing them to think up their own escape plan. While Usopp rushed to do so, Brook thought about the resemblance between Gunko and someone he had known long ago, before he had become a pirate. Before they could think up their escape plan, the Straw Hats were shocked to see that Sommers was still alive, and had reattached his head to his body. Robin wondered aloud where the monster trio of the crew could be. Nami attempted to think of where she'd last seen them, but was cut off by Brook, who remarked that they were still in Elbaph's first world.

Spa Island Arc
As the Straw Hats relax on Spa Island, they met Lina, her sister Sayo, and her pet sea raccoon, Nukky, who can shape-shift. Sayo is holding a notebook, and when asked about it, she decides that she and her sister should leave. This is when Foxy, along his loyal crewmates, Porche and Hamburg suddenly appear much to the Straw Hats' surprise (though Luffy takes awhile to remember who he is). While still miffed at his defeat since their last meeting, Foxy's only concern is Sayo's notebook. With a new trick up his sleeves, Foxy incapacitates the straw hats and take girls, and takes the notebook. Just as Foxy is about to have them all fall down into the ocean, Franky and Brook show up, and Luffy asks them to beat Foxy up, to which they do, causing a panic on the island in the process. As Luffy and the others make back up, Foxy tries and fails to use his new trick against them, and Luffy sends him and his crewmates flying with a Gum Gum Bazooka. As the situation dies down, the sisters explain that the notebook contains their father's notes for creating a gem, and that the last clue to making it was somewhere on Spa Island. Overhearing the conversation, the owner of the island, Doran takes Sayo hostage, revealing that he was scheming to take the treasure for himself, having been the one that employed the Foxy Pirates and set them loose on the sisters. Doran then tells the crew to find the treasure if they want the girl back. The group panic over what to do until Luffy makes the suggestion of simply destroying the island, much to Doran's panic. As the whole crew, including Zoro, begin destroying the island, an angry Doran decides to stop the bunch by showing them Sayo tied to a stake and a gigantic cannon aimed at her. To show he was serious, he fires a warning shot that barely misses Sayo. Doran then demands the notebook for Sayo's life. Lina tempted to do it was stopped by Sayo, telling her not to give up on their father or his goal, and managed to convince Lina to refuse giving up the notebook. The Straw Hats then proceed to stop Doran and rescue Sayo. Luffy, with Lina and Nukky holding onto him, jumps into the air, uses Gear 3, and preform his Gum Gum Giant Axe, splitting the island in half and sinking it, which annoyed the crew since they weren’t out of harms way yet. After doing this, Luffy shrinks and he, Lina, and Nukky land in the ocean. As they are being rescued by Sanji, Lina sees an x-shaped crack in the ocean floor below the island. After telling the crew this, they all realized that the clue was under the island the whole time. The heat from the lava soon makes steam form around the group and the reflection from the sun causes a circular rainbow effect. The sisters then realize that the steam is the final clue to make the gem. A few days later, the Straw Hats' continue their journey when Nukky flies in and delivers a letter to the crew from his owners. Sayo and Lina succeeded in making the rainbow gem and are living happily with their father who returned, alive and well, just in time to see the creation of the gem. They even sent the gem to the Straw Hats as a thank you, and while the crew gather around to look at the gem, it starts to rain candy out of nowhere, and the candy knocks the gem out of Luffy's hand, causing Nami to panic and demand that everyone search for it on the deck. Some time later, During a particularly calm night, Brook is on watch, manning the steering wheel while reflecting on the peace. He remembers his old companion Laboon, and contemplates his new companions, the Straw Hat Pirates. He recalls discovering a journal recounting the adventures and battles the crew have gone through. He vows that as long as he's their friend, he will act appropriately. The next morning, Brook wakes everyone up by singing Black Handkerchief of Happiness, much to everyone's annoyance. At breakfast, Brook's laughter grabs everyone's attention and Chopper notices that Brook has read their journal. Brook announces that since he has become their comrade, he does not feel like he has been of any help, but intends to work himself "to the bone" to become acceptable. First, he goes to help Sanji in the kitchen, but drops the plates. Sanji catches them but has his hands full. Brook offers to bring Nami a cup of tea, although Sanji wanted to do it himself. As he brings it to Nami, he accidentally spills the tea over the map she was drawing. Disheartened, he goes to see Franky and Usopp who are building a weapon which runs on cola. He offers to help by filling the weapon with cola, but fills it with soy sauce instead, causing the weapon to explode, showering fluid everywhere, which also ruins Chopper's medicinal plants. Brook goes up to the crow's nest in order to train with Zoro. Zoro welcomes him, and begins his meditation. Brook tries to join, but continually annoys Zoro until he loses his temper. Upset, Brook wonders if all he has done is to be an inconvenience to everyone. Robin notices he seems perturbed, and asks what is wrong. After hearing his troubles, she explains that she also felt out of place, but now the crew is her family. They risked their lives to save her at Enies Lobby, and she is prepared to do the same for them. As Brook reflects on her words, Luffy rushes up and tells them that it's time for food. Later on, Brook sits out on deck, enjoying a cup of tea and then napping. Brook begins to think about how long it has been since he has had an afternoon nap so comfortably. In the Florian Triangle, falling asleep would lead to him dreaming about being with his old crew and Laboon, only to wake up to a lonely and painful reality. But now, he's surrounded by his friends. As the sun begins to set, Brook plays Binks' Sake on his violin.

Little East Blue Arc
As the Straw Hats sail through the seas trying to refill their rations by fishing, Brook catches a fish just as they are attacked by a large horned beetle. As the crew deal with the beetle eating all of the fish that they catch, a young girl on a ship named Yoko orders the beetle, who she calls Boss, to attack the Thousand Sunny. As Luffy tries to fight the beetle, it takes Luffy, Usopp, Sanji, and Zoro away to a nearby island. As they reach the island, Boss gets caught on a cliff, leaving Luffy and the others to make their way to the ground. Once they made to the ground, Yoko pops out of nowhere and bits Luffy, as Sanji, Usopp, and Zoro show up and eventually they are all surrounded by the locals. When Yoko tells them that they are pirates, they start bowing before Luffy and the others, until an old man arrives and tells them that they are the Straw Hat Pirates, which led to them showing the Straw Hats through a maze, until they reach the town, known to everyone as Little East Blue. As Luffy's group explore the town, back on the Sunny, Usopp called Nami, and told her to come to the back of the island, because the people wanted her to come. As Nami left to go to the town, Brook is later seen still on the Sunny, watching Franky build a cage for Boss, with Chopper and Robin watching as well. As the others wait for the rest of the crew to return, Luffy's group help the people of Little East Blue fend off the forces of the Amigo Pirates, led by Largo and Corto. After Luffy defeats Largo, he and Boss have a rematch that ends in a draw, due to both being exhausted from their earlier fights. With every one of the Amigo Pirates dealt with, the Straw Hats set sail once again, but not before Luffy promises to see Yoko and Boss again someday.
One Piece Film Strong World
When the Straw Hats were on board the Thousand Sunny, they read news of attacks on East Blue. Luffy said they will return to East Blue to protect it when Shiki's ship appeared overhead. After he warned him of the storm ahead, he came down to meet them. There he revealed that he has a Devil Fruit power to make any inanimate object he touches ignore gravity and float. After Shiki learned that it was Nami that delivered the warning, and that they are headed to East Blue, Shiki offered to take them there and used his power on Sunny. Together the two ships traveled to the floating island seen before where Shiki suddenly kidnapped Nami. Brook along with the others tried to rescue her, but by controlling the Thousand Sunny by using his power, he escaped them and scattered them among the fragments of the island. Brook found Franky and Robin and beginning exploring the island they were flung to. They happened to be on the sunken ruins of a city submerged in a lake with trees taken root around the buildings. When entered, they are attacked by the local wildlife. A horde of Guntai Ari ants poured out of an entrance and rushed them. Brook screamed in terror, but the ants ignored him and continued running towards Franky and Robin. But then, a giant shark jumped out of the water to attack. The ants devoured the shark before it was able to hit the water and resume their attack. Brook wondered why the ants ignored him to which Franky replied because he has no meat on his bones. Brook took this as a serious offense to his honor and stepped in and cut them all down. Brook's group were later seen traveling across the desert on a motorcycle Franky made out of a giant Crayfish that he named Zarrey Davidson. As they approached Shiki's private village, the vehicle lurched back in fear almost throwing them off. Unable to ride further they walked the rest of the way. Upon entering the village, they found a large building where many hundreds of pirates were gathered, similarly protected by poison plants. They learned there that Shiki was planning to let loose the animals on the island into East Blue in a gambit to force the surrender of the World Government. They also learned that to prove the power of the animals he was planning a demonstration using a village on the floating island. Brook asked one of the waiters if he can see her panties and gets kicked in the head. Brook's group arrived shortly after, rejoining the rest of the crew after them suffering a heavy loss at the hands of Shiki. Xiao reappeared and gave them the Dial Nami left them. Her mother, who earlier had expressed relief about the animals being sent to East Blue, apologized for saying how happy she was for Shiki leaving for East Blue. They then played the message, and after hearing only the first bit of it, Luffy is angered to the point that he will not listen to the rest (the rest of the crew does, however). Back at Shiki's place, Nami is found to have in fact been attempting to blow up the plants protecting his palace but was overcome by the poison. Shiki trapped her near the plants and headed off to meet the pirate captains gathering. The Straw Hats arrived at his palace and burst down the gates and made short work of the guards outside. While preparing a toast to the commencement of the operation, the Straw Hats marched into the main meeting room brandishing various firearms and a new wardrobe. After a short confrontation, where Shiki calls them simply a suicide squad, and reveals hundreds of men around them. They unload their firearms in the room, defeating most of those gathered, much to Shiki's dismay, then split up to defeat the rest. Luffy chases after Shiki, with Brook and the others helping fight off his minions and hordes of animals who begin running wild in his fortress. Brook is later seen fighting a giant Batch Fly that he cuts down with one strike. He met up with Sanji and helped dispatch more of the animals in their way. Sanji then found Robin had been attacked and held captive by Shiki's man ape, Scarlet. Upon Sanji defeating it, Robin fell but Brook swooped in and caught her. Robin told Brook thank you, much to Sanji's irritation for doing all the work. After Shiki is defeated by Luffy, Brook along with the other Straw Hats escaped using the Thousand Sunny and Shiki's pirate sail as a parachute. Brook is seen much later on the ship as Nami recovered.
One Piece 3d Straw Hat Chase
The following day after a strange night on the Thousand Sunny, Luffy wakes up and frantically searches for his Straw Hat when he realizes that it is gone. He almost drowns trying to find it when he thinks that it might of fallen into the ocean, leading to Zoro having to rescue him. Soon the rest of the crew have a emergency meeting about the hat, with Usopp stating that the previous night a strange bird flew in and out of their room, leading to the said bird becoming a possible culprit. As they all go out to search for it, Sanji, Robin and Brook are on the Mini Merry II, Nami is on the Shiro Mokuba I, Chopper and Usopp are on the Shark Submerge III, and Franky steers the Sunny. Chopper and Usopp find a ship, and aboard it they find a strange man, who passed out from coughing up blood. As they bring the man aboard the Sunny to be treated, a giant bird lands on the ship, with Luffy's hat in its beak. As Luffy orders the crew to go after it, a Marine ship mysteriously appears behind them. As Franky tells the others that they all need to head back to the ship, the chase is already on as they go through a series of glaciers, a Marine Blockade, into a cave, off a waterfall, and even into a nest of Sea Kings, with Luffy being the one most determined to catch the bird. He chases it into a volcanic region, as Chopper manages to get Schneider to finally wake up, with Schneider asking the doctor to let him see his precious dog, Buzz; who ate the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Eagle devil fruit, with Luffy finding out about this as he sees Buzz both in his dog form and his hybrid form. Schneider then reveals that in order to make sure his dog did not watch him slowly die, he gave the dog an impossible task in order to stay by his side; which was to steal the straw hat of Monkey D. Luffy. As Chopper hears this, he realizes that Buzz is the giant bird from before, and he informs Schneider that he is on the Straw Hats' ship, causing Schneider to spring back to life and demand that the ship go after his friend. Meanwhile, Luffy is fighting Buzz for his hat back, but the two end up crashing into a Marine base. Before either of them can continue, they get trapped in a seastone cage. The commander of the base reveals himself and mocks Luffy by holding his straw hat on the barrel of his gun, then shoots it gaining Luffy's anger. Before Luffy gets captured, however, Zoro arrives to save him. Luffy tries to get his hat back, but stopped by the base's three giants. As a prolonged fight with the giants leads to Luffy and Zoro almost getting crushed, Schneider arrives, piloting the Sunny as he has come for Buzz. As the ship crashes into the base, the Straw Hats use the opportunity to regroup, with Schneider apologizing to Buzz for trying to keep him away. After doing so, the three giants attack again, only this time they taken down by the Straw Hats' teamwork. After this, Luffy goes after the Marine that still has his hat. The commanding officer throws the Hat into the ocean when he sees Luffy coming, which leads to an angry Luffy using Gear 3rd to punch one of the giants into the gate that he is standing on, with the giants' weapon landing right onto the marine, as the gate begins to break. As water begins to flood the base, the Straw Hats, Schneider and Buzz all escape onto the Thousand Sunny. As everyone gets to safety, Luffy is still chasing after his hat, with it seeming like he will fall to his doom before he can safely reach it. However, Buzz arrives and catches Luffy, which finally allows Luffy the chance to finally catch his hat. Later, Chopper reveals to Schneider what was causing him to cough up blood, a fork that he apparently swallowed by accident and assures him that he will not die. With all that settled, the crew return Schneider and Buzz back to their own ship and part ways, with Schneider telling Luffy to take good care of his straw hat.

One Piece 3d Trap Coaster
As the journey begins with the Straw Hats escaping from cannon fire from a Marine fleet, Robin notices that the cannons are missing them on purpose. Then the leader of the fleet orders a Marine ship to come out from behind a rock and intercept the crew, bumping into the Thousand Sunny. As the crew recovers from the impact, Nami notices that the marine ship is mysteriously empty, till they all see something jumping around the ship and onto the Sunny. Nami recognizes it as a Kung-Fu Dugong, and tries and fails to stop Franky from attacking it. When he asks why, Robin explains that a Kung-Fu Dugong will become his disciple if he defeats it. The dugong, who was laying defeated on the Sunny's deck, gets up and swears allegiance to Franky. As this happens, the marine officer in charge, Trap, reveals that the dugong completed its mission and will proceed to capture Luffy and his crew. After realizing that they were surrounded by crew of Kung-Fu Dugongs, the Straw Hats are cornered by the Marines into an alcove of a nearby island. Trap pushes a lever, and a loud noise begins from beneath the Thousand Sunny. Suddenly, the ship is raised out of the sea, revealing the intricate Trap Tower. The Sunny is resting on the top of the tower in the hand of a Kung-Fu Dugong statue, and Trap laughs while taking a drink from a bottle. He tells them all that the bottom of the floor is made of seastone, and tells them to enjoy their trip, as he pulls another lever and the statue's arm sends the Sunny sliding down the mouth of the statue, entering the Trap Tower in the process. As the crew are forced to ride down the path of the tower, they reach the first trap, known as the "Cutting Hell", which is a large wheel of spinning blades inside of a tube. As the Sunny falls towards it, Luffy simply destroys the trap with a Gomu Gomu no Pistol as the crew falls through the tunnel into another one filled with seawater, as the Sunny begins to spin and crash into a series of waves, as the devil fruit user of the crew are weakened in the process of going through the water tunnel. Soon, they reach the second trap, a giant gorilla-like machine known as the "Hammer Hell" that punches large metal fists together in the path the ship is headed. As Sanji deals with the trap by destroying the fists, an angry Trap presses a button to active more traps at the end of the tunnel, including four harpoon shooting mechanisms, but Zoro deflects the harpoons, making Trap even angrier as he presses the button again. As Sanji and Zoro deal with the harpoons and fight with each other, Trap hits a different button to activate the main ride, and hundreds of dugong-operated cannons come out of the walls of a large room the Sunny has stopped in. Luffy, still groggy from the seawater ride gets up after Nami shocks him awake, and he goes onto the masthead of the Sunny and uses Gomu Gomu no Ballon to deflect the cannonballs. The resulting explosions cause the dugongs to abandon the cannons and jump into the water for safety. The explosions also causes debris to fall from Trap Tower. With the ride momentarily stopped, the crew discussed what to do next, as the Dugong that Franky attacked earlier goes into the water. Despite Franky telling him to come out of the water, the crew realize that they are surrounded by Kung Fu Dugongs, but want to avoid fighting them and accidentally making them their disciples. Brook uses his music to make them all fall asleep instead, and Trap curses them for harming his dugongs. The water in the room starts to drain and the Sunny falls through a hole, but Robin uses her powers to lower the ship to safety, after which Luffy punches through the wall and the crew successfully escape Trap Tower, but start to fall back down into the sea as a result. Instead, they fall onto a giant slide, as Trap releases a group of Giants known as the Giant Nine, with each one of the nine giants ordered to swing a spiked club at the Straw Hats' ship, destroying a part of the slide behind them with every missed swing. Luffy and Usopp manage to each attack one of the giants, but the ship continues down the slide. As the ship reaches the first giant again, Franky's Dugong reappeared with three barrels of cola it stole from the tower. Franky loads the barrels and uses Coup de Burst to launch the Sunny at the giant and Gaon Cannon to knock him over. The giant's club goes flying into the air and hits the tower above, causing the upper half of it to collapse. As Trap and his Tower finally fall, the Thousand Sunny flies away from the Coup de Burst, and Franky praises his Dugong, as the rest of the dugongs begin to awaken. Chopper translates for them and tells the crew that they want to fight again, Luffy agrees, and Nami slaps and scolds him while he laughs. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji prepare to fight them, and Nami shouts at Brook to just put them all to sleep.

Episode Of Luffy
During some spare time on the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats have a mock introductory show with Usopp hosting. Once Luffy's turn was done, they are interrupted by an attack from several Marine battleships. During the battle, the Straw Hats are forced to make an emergency Coup de Burst in order to escape a sudden attack from above, in the form of an immensely large cannonball. Crash landing on a nearby island, they decide to explore while Franky repairs and moves the ship. While Franky works on a way to move the ship back into the water, the rest of the Straw Hats explore the local town to re-supply what was broken or lost in the landing. However they all notice that the town is in short supply of everything and that only women, children or the elderly run the shops. Eventually Brook, Robin and Nami discover the site of a past cannon attack located directly opposite the Marine base. Later, Luffy comes across what appears to be a fruit stall on the outskirts of the town. Trying to eat several pieces, he quickly discovers that they are actually fake fruits made of wax. From behind, an old man approaches and quickly bursts into laughter over Luffy's mistake, then introduces himself as Diego, the man who had sculpted the fruits. Going inside, Diego is suddenly left dumbstruck as the entirety of his home had been blown away except the front wall and, upon looking over the hill discovers that it was the Thousand Sunny which had caused the damage in its crash landing. Apologizing for the destruction they had caused, Luffy is then led underground where he discovers the pride of Diego's collection, a multitude of life-like wax sculptures of famous pirates. Luffy recognizes many of the sculptures in the collection room, but after seeing Shanks' sculpture, he is reminded of his childhood and the days when Shanks and his crew had visited Foosha Village, which culminated with his consumption of the Gomu Gomu no Mi and a near lethal encounter with the mountain bandit Higuma where Shanks had sacrificed his arm to save Luffy, earning the boy's eternal respect and admiration. Later, Usopp and Chopper discover the underground section and marvel at the wax figures, leading Diego to show them how his particular wax was created. Noting a poorly crafted figure of Whitebeard on a nearby shelf, Diego mentions that the wax itself is of a much higher quality then the one he can create and demonstrates this by easily destroying his own wax by knocking the sculpture against it though notes that it is weak against fire. Asking who had created it, Diego admits that the man was no longer around and had left him to join the Marines, which was his son, Regis. Diego then explains the island's situation. Hand Island is an island of artisans that was once under the protection of Whitebeard. However, after he died in the Summit War of Marineford, rival pirates quickly set their sights on his territory. Marines quickly stepped in and built a base nearby which restored peace. Eventually, during mid-construction, Commodore Bilić was put in command. He called for a meeting of the townspeople and asked that they help build a cannon to help ward off pirate attacks which the people happily agreed to. Among them was Regis, who had joined the Marines to help the island, much to the dismay of Diego, who had hoped he would follow in his footsteps. However, once the cannon was completed, Bilić fired on the town as "practice", destroying several buildings and killing a few innocents as well. It soon became obvious that he just wanted the cannon for his own ends and used the families of the builders as his own hostages lest he fire the cannon on the rest of the town. After telling this tale, Diego starts to head off to the Marine base to give Regis the Whitebeard figurine. But Luffy offers to go instead. Luffy later regroups with the entire crew and tells them his intention. After hearing this the others draw lots to see who'll go with him with Sanji and Usopp chosen. The next day the three head for the Marine base on the Mini Merry. Once they reach the base, the marines open fire once they notice Luffy forcing Sanji and him to invade the base which quickly leads into a chase. Eventually, the two find Regis and give him the figurine but Luffy is captured in a seastone cage once he steps on the platform where Regis's cell is. The wheel turns towards the water submerging the two. Sanji manages to jump in and free the pair and they escape into ocean via a sewer fan where they regroup with Usopp. The four rest on a reef where Regis explains he made the doll when he was six. When he went to join the Marines, Diego tried to at least have him take the figurine with him but he declined. Regis feels that he disappointed his father for not following the path he wanted. But after seeing the figure and being told that Diego always treasured it, he realizes that his father still believes in him. Likewise Diego, after being told why Regis was thrown in jail, is happy of his conviction to protect the island. After hearing this, the four then notice that Bilić has started firing on the town, thinking the villagers are hiding the Straw Hats and demands they turn them over or he will destroy the town. Luffy's group head back to the base and make their way inside with Usopp and Sanji distracting the Marines while Luffy and Regis sneak in. Bilić, thinking the townspeople sent the Straw Hats after him, fires another cannon at the town but it's sliced in half by Zoro. As Zoro continues to defend the town from Bilić's cannon, Luffy and Regis make their way into the base and gather as much wax as they can. The Straw Hats fight against the Marines while Regis makes his way up to the cannon's barrel and activates the wax, causing it to backfire and destroy itself. Bilić emerges from the rubble of the cannon, obviously angered. He burns Regis's Whitebeard figure to mock Luffy as well as him then reveals he has a mobile cannon as a back up. Luffy faces off against him, but suffers trouble due to the cannon's speed, the constant bombardment Bilić fires into his rubber body and the spinning tops fitted with blades sent after him. His crew (along with some help from Koby) help take out the tops and Luffy finally manages to beat Bilić by getting in close enough to grab his snake puppet and pummel him with an Elephant Gatling, destroying his cannon in the process. Kizaru suddenly shows up much to the shock of everyone. The Marines believe he was the one who stopped Bilić and cheer for him as the Straw Hats make a hasty exit. However it turns out the Kizaru is really another wax sculpture created by Diego who made it on the request of Koby. Using the charade (as well as Diego throwing his voice to imitate the Admiral), Koby places Bilić under arrest and states he is likely to be court martialed while declaring that it was never the Marines' intention to enslave the island. He orders the Marines to help rebuild the island while Diego and Regis reconcile. Koby watches the Straw Hats go, promising he'll catch up to Luffy soon to which Luffy, seemingly hearing this, laughs in agreement. However as the crew flees, they realize they accidentally left Zoro on Hand Island.
Zs Ambition Arc
Episode Of Merry
During a lull in their travel, the Straw Hats are milling around the Thousand Sunny. When Usopp, Chopper and Brook were riding the surrounding seas on the Mini Merry II, Brook asked about the little ship's design. Remembering that Brook was recruited after the Going Merry's demise, Usopp recounted to him about how the Merry was their first ship and all the adventures they had together from Syrup Village all the way to Enies Lobby. Touched by the Going Merry's life story, Brook cried that he would have wanted to meet the ship.
Glorious Island
As the crew leisurely mess around on the Thousand Sunny, Luffy, Nami and Brook are seen relaxing in the inflatable pool outside the Sunny, and Nami enjoying her swim reminds Brook that he can't swim and that he should be careful, with Brook stating that he being in the pool is a nice feeling for his bones. As Brook is admiring Nami's swimsuit, an angry Sanji shows up and asks Brook what he thinks he's looking at, before he begins staring at her as well, with Usopp disappointed in both them behaving like this. As Luffy enjoys the pool, he soon notices the presence of a Sea Monster with the appearance of a horse towering the Sunny. As everyone notices the monster, they start to panic, as Nami panics and holds onto Brook, who starts drowning even though he's happy that Nami is holding him. After Luffy defeats the monster, he accidentally knocks his away, forcing everyone to chase after it with the Sunny. As the chase begins, Nami is simply happy that she is safe, despite Chopper trying to revive Brook, who she almost drowned. They eventually reach where the monster landed, with Luffy excited to eat it. As Zoro reminds Sanji not to forget the booze as well, Sanji comments on how that's all he thinks about, leading to the two of them arguing. Franky gets involved and tries to calm Zoro down, which only makes him annoyed at Franky, until Franky suggests that they should have a party. As Franky starts to talk about having a cherry blossom party, everyone is confused but interested. Later, Brook starts tuning his guitar as Franky explains to the other guys that their party should be a buffet. With everyone originally against the idea, Franky goes on to list the different number of foods that they can have thanks to the sea monster meat, which gets the others dreaming and imagining the food as well. After getting everyone excited about the idea, Luffy starts imagining a whole island filled with meat, with Zoro imagining a waterfall made of booze to go with it. Franky adds the idea of gigantic hamburgers with fries and cola, and Chopper wants clouds of cotton candy and cow milk bath. Brook gets so excited about this glorious dream island that he boldly asks Nami if he could see her panties, making her mad enough to kick him and tell him to come back to reality. As Brook lays on the ground, Sanji shows up telling everyone that the real meat is ready. As the cherry blossoms start to rain down and the party starts, Zoro asks Brook to bring the mugs, Brook starts singing as they watch Franky make cherry blossoms rain down across the Sunny.
One Piece Film Z
Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are having a cherry blossom party. Luffy is goofing off, stuffing himself with meat while Brook is singing. Chopper becomes distressed when inhaling poison drifting in the air, while Brook is inspired to write a song about it. The smell is shown coming from Usopp spraying poison over his Pop Greens, as Robin happily waters some of the plants. Usopp reassures Luffy that the poison is merely meant for killing worms, with Zoro showing a liking to the tainted flavor of his alcohol. Volcanic ash suddenly begins to rain from the sky much to their confusion. Nami studies her Log Pose and finds the needle spinning where the volcano had erupted from. She realizes that the needle must be spinning around because the volcano must have destroyed the island and the needle no longer has a magnetic field to lock on. Franky says it is impossible, but she points out that they are in the New World, anything is possible. Usopp whispers to her that they have to hide this from Luffy and choose a safer route. Despite it, Luffy notices the spinning needle, deciding to head in that direction. Usopp whines, but Nami tells him to trust in her navigational skills. He warns her that the paths they choose could cost them their lives, but she tells him the matter is out of their hands now. As Usopp continues to whine, Luffy spots the battered body of Z clinging to life on a piece of driftwood out at sea, and attempts to rescue him. When he grabs ahold of his mechanical arm, he becomes weak and Sanji and Usopp having to help pull Z aboard. Chopper examines Z, but finds that he should be fine. Nami shows signs of suspicion, worrying that they picked up someone problematic. Robin notices his arm is built out of Seastone, the reason why Luffy became weak when he touched him. Sanji reminds them all that Seastone is used against Devil Fruit users with him and Zoro debating whether to throw him overboard. Chopper defends him, with Luffy ordering him to save his life and that he would deal with him if he was an enemy. Z instantly attacks and throws Luffy through the wall after he tells him that they talk and Luffy reveals that he is a pirate. He asks Luffy why he is a pirate to which Luffy proudly responds he will be the Pirate King. This comment infuriates Z, as he madly swings his Battle Smasher around. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji all begin fighting him with Z able to hold them all off with relative ease. Ain and Binz then arrive with a fleet of ships and board the Sunny, announcing they will be confiscating it. Franky attacks, with Binz summoning vines that are able to subdue him. Robin tries attacking, but he proves too quick for her to grab him with her arms. Usopp, Chopper and Brook rush to help, but Binz ensnares them all in vines as well. Nami briefly battles Ain, but she uses her Devil Fruit ability and shrinks Nami down to a small child. Chopper breaks out of the vines and charges her, but Ain evades him and uses her ability on him as well. She goes on to use her power on the subdued Brook. Robin tries to grab her before she can continue, and demands to know what she did to Nami and Chopper. However, Ain takes advantage of Robin's powers, and touches her duplicated arms to de-age her to the appearance of a young teen. Ain explains she has the ability to revert things with a touch by 12 years. She tells Robin she would only need to touch her two more times and she would disappear. Z overpowers the Monster Trio, as he holds Luffy in his grip, helpless against him. He chastises Luffy's dream, telling him he'll never be Pirate King with his strength. Curiosity piqued, he asks Luffy his name. When he tells him, Z connects him as Garp's grandson and spares his life. He announces to the Straw Hats he will destroy all pirates, as the Neo Marines begin to attack the Sunny. With the ship being damaged and most of the crew unable to fight back, Luffy has them retreat. He frees Franky from his bonds, as he uses a Coup de Burst to escape. Luffy and the Straw Hats are recovering on a nearby island, where Franky goes to work on fixing the Sunny. He tells Luffy to go after Z while he repairs the damage done. Chopper regrets saving Z's life, but Sanji tells him a pirate should live without regrets of what he believes in. Nami tells him that they must track them down, or else she will never get her original body back. She would not be as helpful a Navigator to them without her full grown body. Nami proposes gathering intel on their enemy as the first place to start. Mobston, an old man, approaches them and asks if they had a run in with Z. He tells them many pirate ships that have come to the island have been attacked by him. He tells that many who had been attacked by him, lost their will to continue and left the New World. He is pleasantly surprised Luffy still wishes to fight him, after losing so badly to him and offers up his finest equipment to use in their quest. Nami tells the crew to not arouse suspicion, they need a new change of clothes first. They are told their best place to start is to take the Sea Train to Secon Island. As they head to their next destination, they split up their search. Luffy, Brook, Sanji, and Zoro, all relax in a local hot spring to rest, recover, and prepare for the upcoming fight. Sanji comments Devil Fruit users are a pain, seeing Luffy and Brook become quite weak. Sanji tells Luffy to keep a low profile since the island is crawling with Marine soldiers. As Luffy and the others relax in the hot springs, Luffy vows to not let his guard down around Z again. Sanji tells him as long as he is a Devil Fruit user and lets himself get caught by his arm he will lose, offering to let him and Zoro to fight him instead. Luffy turns him down, knowing to avoid his arm for their next fight. However, a familiar voice calls out to them, claiming he was getting tired waiting for them. The group finds it belongs to Kuzan who is resting in a nearby bath. The group instantly go on guard. Save for Brook who does not recognize him, but panics when they fill him in that he is an Admiral. Kuzan reassures them he is not there to capture them, and had given up being an Admiral. Brook asks what he is then, with Kuzan finding being questioned bothersome. He thinks on the question, and is unable to think of a proper answer confusing them further. However, he tells them again he is not their enemy anymore and reminds them if he was he would not be in a hot spring where he cannot use his powers. As Kuzan gets out of the water, the Straw Hats see his battle scarred body, and his missing leg that he regrows with his ice powers. Noticing their shocked expressions, he merely notes he "got into a bit of mischief". Kuzan and the Straw Hats talk some more, with Luffy asking him what happened to his leg. Kuzan takes offense and tells him there are some things that should not be asked. Luffy tries to change the subject and asks about Akainu on why the two of them fought, believing they were friends. Kuzan refuses to comment on that. He does go on say that he wishes his only reason for coming was to enjoy the hot springs, but is chasing Z. He guessed that they had gone against him, remarking how strong he is. Kuzan and Luffy's group soon leave the spa as he talks about the great age of pirates. He ponders to himself if pirates are made from the One Piece existing, or if the One Piece exists because of the pirates. Telling them how when some follow their dreams, it can lead to pain and sadness of others. He tells them that Z plans to destroy piracy by destroying the One Piece. He has chosen to follow Z's journey, but is unsure what actions he himself must take. He then departs, telling Luffy he will find Z on the island. Luffy thinks back to his encounter of Z pondering over him, until the rest of the Straw Hats catch up with them with a group of Marines chasing them. Luffy dispatches them all with his Supreme King Haki. Reluctantly, the Marine Captain tells him the location of Z. The Dyna Stones on the island explode, causing the volcano to erupt. Z informs his men the destruction the Second Point has been a success and they need only destroy one more island. With Z in front of them once more, Luffy charges forth and attacks with his Gomu Gomu no Rifle technique. Z blocks it, showing mild surprise to see Luffy. Luffy demands Z change his friends back to normal, as Ain and Binz attack. As Luffy's rematch with Z continues the nearby volcano begins to erupt and destroy the island. Kuzan saves the lives of some civilians by knocking away a volcanic rock and tells them to get to the Sea Train. Kuzan looks on at the devastation, wondering if Z has finally lost his mind. As Luffy and Z's fight grows more intense, Z mocking Luffy telling him if he keeps being afraid of his Battle Smasher, he'll never land any hits on him. He strikes the ground, sending Luffy flying away. He catches up and fires more bullets at Luffy that he deflects back at him. Luffy tells him his bullets will never harm him, until Z pulls out a small pistol and fires a bullet into his shoulder made from Seastone. Mocking Luffy further, he tells him the strongest people in the New World would never have let themselves be hit with it and he relies too much on is Devil Fruit power. He takes Luffy's hat, promising to bury it himself once he has finished destroying the age of pirates. Luffy tries to grab it from him, telling Z the hat was given to him by Shanks. He grabs Luffy in his powerful grips and tells him Shanks, along with the rest of the Four Emperors will all die before they know what is happening. Luffy is enraged, screaming at him to not mock Shanks as Z blasts Luffy away. Zoro and the others find Luffy, and help carry him to safety as the deadly ash cloud rolls down the mountain. Usopp uses one of his Pop Greens to make a banana shaped boat they ride against the wind with. They are unable to escape and just as their deaths seemed imminent, Kuzan encases the magma and ash in a gigantic layer of ice giving them time to escape. Luffy and the Straw Hats board the sea train and flee, just before the island blows. The Straw Hats return to Dock Island, as Luffy is patched up and has the Seastone bullet removed. Kuzan appears before the crew again, telling Luffy to stop moping. Nami, Usopp, Chopper and Robin are shown terrified, but Luffy assures them it is alright. Kuzan explains Z's plan to the crew of destroying the three Endpoints with the Dyna Stones to release the Grande Imbuto, a fissure line underneath the Grand Line. If Z destroys the last one, this will allow the magma flow to be release and flood the sea with fire. Though doing so will not only kill pirates, but innocents as well. Now that two of the Endpoints have been destroyed, Z is about to go to the last one, Piriodo, and unless the Straw Hats stop him, the Pirate Era will end. The Endpoints had been considered a legend, with most thinking it was nonsense. The government covered up the truth about them, to dissuade pirates from using it. That only the World Government and highest ranking officers of the Marines know about it. He laments that it is an Admiral abusing this knowledge above all else. He reminds them that he is not doing this out of power, but to punish pirates. Luffy remains undeterred despite being defeated twice by Z, vowing to chase him down and get his hat back. If he lets Z keep his hat, he could never face Shanks or be worthy of the Pirate King title. Kuzan then gives the crew an Eternal Pose leading to Piriodo. If they lose to Z, they will be destroyed along with the New World. Or, if they win they will be attacked by the Marines. With that said he leaves them to their own fates. Franky then reminds the crew about the equipment they were promised earlier, showing a large stash of armor and weapons Mobston had saved up from the previous crews that suffered from Z's wrath. hey suit up in their new gear and head out. As they are leaving, Gari approaches Luffy telling him he wants to grow up to be a hero but cant decide whether he wants to be an Admiral or a pirate. Sanji flatly states pirates are not heroes. But Luffy chimes in saying if both feel the same, then it is okay and just do whatever he pleases. Gari watches the Straw Hat Pirates leave, filled with admiration for them. The Straw Hats intercept a blockade of Neo Marine warships guarding Piriodo. They blast through their defenses with the Gaon Cannon before landing on the beaches with an army waiting for them. The Straw Hats begin fighting, using their new weapons to help. As the fight against the neo marines intensifies, Brook unleashes Soul Solid, freezing a large number of soldiers in place. The Straw Hats win their battles, standing victorious over the defeated Neo Marines. However an army of modified Pacifista appear and begin their onslaught. The crew are forced to run until Franky arrives in the Franky Shogun to turn the tide. Franky takes on the Pacifista, able to fight them all off with his superior strength. Once clustered together, he destroys them with a powerful Radical Beam. After Ain's defeat by Zoro, her effects begin to wear off. Nami grows back to her adult size, with the armor she is sporting now barely fitting her body. Chopper reverts back growing slightly, along with Robin and Brook (though it does not seem to show any signs of change on him). The group head on to catch up with Luffy. The Straw Hats catch up to the battle, seeing Luffy had fought hard against Z and had managed to leave an imprint of his fist inside Z's giant metal fist. Z asks him why he wants to fight him so much. That even if he defeats him, nobody will thank him for his efforts for the stigma of being a pirate. Luffy responds if he cannot defeat him, he will never be able to become the Pirate King. The Battle Smasher breaks then and there and falls from Z's arm, revealing a smaller mechanical arm he can still use. Z tells Luffy he is going to dedicate his life to ending his ambition, challenging him for a final bout. Z and Luffy activate their Armament Haki, their arms turning a hardened black. The two engage in a brutal fist fight, both striking each other with imbued Haki. Kuzan is seen watching their match from a distance, stating "Black Arm" Zephyr has returned. Z and Luffy both give each other hard punches to the chest and stomach, giving Luffy a moment to recoil and puke. Luffy strikes back a punch that knocks Z's glasses right off. A brief flashback is seen in his mind of his early childhood, rattling his early memories. Z becomes elated, that he is being given such a good fight. Both Luffy and him are worn out, still pushing each other with punches back and forth. He corners Luffy and begins pounding on him, with Luffy showing little sign he can defend himself anymore. As Z begins to gain the upper hand, Luffy pushes him back with a kick. Fighting on their last reserves, Luffy shouts he is going to be the Pirate King with Z shouting his name in absolute confidence. After exchanging a few more blows to one another, Luffy finally collapses from exhaustion. Z falls to the ground after, unable to fight anymore too. Z bitterly says he's gotten old, and his body cannot keep up with him anymore. He finds it disappointing, telling Luffy he was enjoying fighting him. As the battle ends, the Straw Hats rush over to Luffy's aid, with Ain and Binz doing the same for Z. Z tells Luffy to finish him, but Luffy merely tells him he is already satisfied as he regains his straw hat, giving him a smile. He offers to continue fighting him, if he wants but Z turns him down, also being satisfied. Kizaru then arrives with his army, telling them he is going to kill them all. Z says he's done everything he's wanted to do, and now will face the price for it as he marches towards the Marine army. He dismisses Luffy, and tells him to leave the rest to him. Ain tries to rush to his side, but Kuzan summons a giant wall of ice dividing everyone from him. Luffy silently looks on, honoring his sacrifice. The Straw Hats depart the island, watching the battle unfold in grim silence as Z gives up his life to save them. During the credits, it is revealed that after Z's defeat, the Straw Hats returned to Dock Island one last time, to return the gear and weapons Mobston had given them. They bid them farewell, and Gari decided to become a pirate, wearing Luffy's borrowed attired.

With Caesar being taken, and large ship approaching, Law, Luffy and Chopper decide to board the Shark Submerge III to go after Breed, while everyone else deals with the ship. After Breed is defeated and Caesar is retrieved, Luffy, Chopper and Law return to the Sunny, saying their goodbyes to the Kung Fu Dugong and his freed animal friends. Adventure Of Nebulandia
Whole Cake Island Saga
Heart Of Gold
While sailing through a wintry sea, the Straw Hats encountered a little girl named Myskina Olga. Olga initially antagonized the Straw Hats, but they satiated her with food, and she revealed to them that she was from the lost island Alchemi, which contained the great treasure known as the Pure Gold. The Straw Hats grew excited and prepared to go on a treasure hunt, eventually convincing Olga to lead them to Alchemi. They were suddenly attacked by Mad Treasure and his crew, who were also after the Pure Gold, and they began to battle. During the battle, however, Olga's ring fell into the ocean, which caused a giant fish named Bonbori to emerge and consume it. Olga revealed to the Straw Hats that the Pure Gold was inside Bonbori, and they sailed into its mouth. Treasure's crew followed them inside, ramming their ship into the Sunny and nearly causing it to hit Bonbori's uvula. Luffy managed to prevent the collision, but was blown away by Naomi Drunk, and Olga went to rescue him. The other Straw Hats fell down Bonbori's throat, and Brook, Nami, Robin, Chopper, and Usopp were left helpless afterwards, allowing Treasure to capture them. Treasure brought his prisoners to an island in Bonbori's first stomach in order to confront Luffy and Olga. Using the prisoners, Treasure managed to trap Luffy and capture Olga, and his crew returned to his ship. The Straw Hat prisoners were forced to help row the ship to Alchemi, though they had hope that Luffy would rescue them. They eventually reached Alchemi, and entered an abandoned mine containing the Pure Gold. In order to pass through the first room, someone had to play a song on an organ, and Brook volunteered himself. However, some of the notes were faded or removed, causing Brook to mess up the song and activate a flying arrow trap. Olga then assisted Brook by singing the song, allowing him to play it correctly and open the path to the next area. After getting past the second area, the group came to the Final Gate, where they had to open a door with many keyholes. The door was underneath a crocodile's mouth contraption, which started closing when the Straw Hats stepped into it. Brook, Usopp, and Chopper held it open as Nami fruitlessly tried every keyhole, with the contraption getting heavier each time she failed. Eventually, Luffy reached the room they were in and destroyed the crocodile's mouth as his companion Myskina Acier opened a trapdoor underneath the Straw Hats and Olga. In the room below, the Straw Hats and Olga found the Pure Gold, but were forced out of the mine after Acier attempted to blow it up. Treasure and Acier followed them out of the mine, and Luffy battled Treasure. When Luffy defeated Treasure, Bonbori started getting dry heaves, and the Straw Hats rode outside as it vomited. They then watched as the Pure Gold was fully absorbed into Bonbori's lamp. The next day, the Straw Hats parted ways with Olga and Acier, but they were disappointed in their failure to get the Pure Gold. However, Nami revealed that she had acquired a Vivre Card leading to the entertainment city, Gran Tesoro, which the Straw Hats excitedly set sail for.
One Piece Film Gold Episode 0
On the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats were having a barbecue. Brook was the referee of the volleyball game between Nami and Chopper versus Robin and Franky. The conclusion of the game resulted in Nami and Chopper winning because Robin used her Devil Fruit ability. Afterwards, the Straw Hats discussed what they will do once they arrive on Gran Tesoro. Usopp was concerned on what would happened if gambling in the casino failed so he decided that'll host a show. Usopp's show was centered around sumo wrestling and Luffy was the Yokozuna and Brook sat back to spectate. After Luffy and Usopp were ready to call it quits, Franky decided to challenge Luffy to take his title. After a long match, they decided to use their signature attacks, but Nami interrupted their match and punched them because they could have destroyed the ship. Brook then attempted to crown Nami with the Yokozuna garment, but Nami knocked him into the sky and denied it. Moments later, the Straw Hats approached Gran Tesoro.
One Piece Film Gold
The Straw Hats entered Gran Tesoro, and were showered with gold in the entrance. They emerged into a pool of liquid gold that had a concert venue around it, but were immediately attacked by the Long Long Pirates, who intended to rob them and pay off their debts. Morkin fired their ship's main cannon at the Thousand Sunny, and later boarded the Sunny. He and some other crewmates went up on the mast where Brook was, and Morkin attacked Brook, but Brook attacked Morkin and his crewmates and moved behind them in a split second, defeating them once he sheathed his sword. The Straw Hats defeated the Long Long Pirates, and watched as the proprietor of Gran Tesoro, Gild Tesoro, encased the remaining members in gold. The Straw Hats landed and were approached by Baccarat, who offered to give them a VIP stay in Gran Tesoro due to their fame. She drove them through Gran Tesoro in a turtle car and took them to the VIP hotel at the heart of the ship, where the Straw Hats donned new outfits as they began their dream vacation. Nami and the crew were approached by a group of kids selling flowers for 5000, but Baccarat chased the kids away. They went to a casino, where Baccarat gave them 20,000,000 worth in tokens. Nami was appalled when Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper immediately went to participate in a Turtle Car race, but cheered as the trio ended up winning the race. The Straw Hats had a lot of luck with the games, earning lots of tokens, and Baccarat took them to the VIP lounge where they had the chance to become millionaires. The Straw Hats played a dice game there and won, and were approached by Gild Tesoro, who challenged them. They lost, but it was revealed that Baccarat had taken Luffy's luck away with her Devil Fruit power, so they refused to hand over their money. This caused Tesoro and his subordinates to retaliate with force, and Tanaka jumped in and out of the ground, shooting the Straw Hats with his gun and throwing them into chaos. Tesoro managed to capture Zoro, and Nami tried to attack him, but was surprised when Carina came up to her and held a knife to her neck. Tesoro gave the Straw Hats until 12:00 the next night to repay their debt, or else he would kill Zoro. The Straw Hats went outside, where they encountered an acquaintance of Nami's named Carina. They went to a diner with Carina, who revealed to them that a massive portion of Tesoro's wealth was contained in the Hyper Suite Room near the top of the hotel, which they could steal to repay their debt. The Straw Hats agreed to this plan, and afterwards, Carina revealed to everyone except Luffy her true plan, which was to direct seawater out of every fountain on Gran Tesoro and free everyone from Tesoro's control over them. The Straw Hats then slept in a hotel, and tried on disguises later in the day to prepare for their mission. They congregated outside the hotel, and Carina outlined the details of the plan. While Team A, Luffy and Franky, would infiltrate the hotel and disable several Eizo Den Den Mushi that served as security cameras, the rest of them, Team B, would sneak inside and make their way to the door to the Hyper Suite Room. The teams then split, and Team B snuck into the hotel. Carina distracted a group of workers transporting a giant dice container, allowing the Straw Hats to hide inside it, and they were wheeled into a storage room where they met back up with Carina. After getting past a few security guards, Team B entered a hallway that led to the staircase to the Hyper Suite Room, but the hall was guarded by owls with spotlights beaming from their eyes. With Chopper's help, Team B managed to pass through the hall, and they communicated with Team A so the latter could disconnect the Eizo Den Den Mushi watching over the staircase. However, Luffy was discovered and the alarm was raised, causing Team B to be discovered by security guards and chased back down the hall they came from. Team B took refuge in a hidden hallway, but were approached by the World Noble Saint Camael and his entourage. However, the team ambushed the World Nobles, stole their clothing, and emerged disguised as them. Tricking the security guards into thinking they were World Nobles, Team B intimidated them into allowing them back through the hallway, and they raced up the staircase to the Hyper Suite Room. However, they opened the door to find themselves in the middle of an entertainment venue, as part of a trap designed by Gild Tesoro and Carina. Tesoro trapped the Straw Hats in gold tendrils, and prepared to begin the entertainment spectacle by executing Zoro as the Straw Hats' bodies slowly became encased in gold. Suddenly, seawater sprayed from every fountain, as Carina had intended for Luffy and Franky to do. The Straw Hats were freed from their gold encasement and reunited with Luffy, Zoro, and Franky, but Tesoro suddenly blew up the hotel, sending a massive deluge of liquid gold on them. However, Sanji, Robin, and Franky carried their crewmates into the air to safety. Tesoro reemerged inside a giant gold golem and confronted the Straw Hats, and as Luffy battled him, the other Straw Hats and Carina were confronted by Baccarat, Tanaka, and Dice, who were given golden armor and weapons by Tesoro. After taking out several former prisoners of Gran Tesoro, Baccarat confronted Usopp, Chopper, and Brook, planning to take them out with just her luck and a coin. She threw the coin at the trio, causing a chain reaction that resulted in a bomb falling on them and injuring them. Baccarat continued throwing her coin at them, causing more and more misfortune to fall on them until Usopp finally ran away. However, as Baccarat was about to finish off Chopper and Brook, Usopp returned and fired a large purple ball at her, though the ball missed. However, Usopp then fired a Midori Boshi: Dokuro Bakuhatsu So, which successfully hit Baccarat. As Baccarat went down, she expressed shock that she had bad luck, and the purple ball opened to reveal a slot machine filled with gold coins, which had allowed Usopp's luck to triumph over hers. Luffy eventually managed to overpower Tesoro, and Tesoro turned his golem into liquid gold, swamping everyone on Gran Tesoro except Luffy with it and preventing them from moving. However, Luffy managed to defeat Tesoro, freeing everyone on Gran Tesoro from his control, and they rejoiced. Suddenly, a timer appeared, and Carina stated that the ship would sink once it reached zero. The Straw Hats returned to the Thousand Sunny, but found out that the timer was a ruse in order to allow Carina to take control of Gran Tesoro. However, they held no hard feelings, and were forced to sail away once the Marine fleet nearby started chasing them.

The team began to starve after running out of rations but came upon Fron Island. Pekoms warned them that a Marine base was located there, but Brook, Luffy, Nami, Chopper, and Carrot went there anyways on the Shark Submerge III. When they arrived on the island, Brook detached his soul in order to scare a group of Marines into unconsciousness, allowing the others to put on the Marines' uniforms. Brook then returned to the Submerge in order to guard it while everyone else looked for food. However, Luffy's identity was eventually discovered, and the island was put in a state of emergency. Soon afterwards, a Marine patrol discovered Brook on the Submerge and confronted him. Brook detached his soul from his body and entered the Marine base, where he reunited with Luffy and Carrot. He took the two to Nami and Chopper, but ended up leading them to a corner, forgetting that they could not pass through the wall like he could. However, Luffy managed to punch a hole in the wall, allowing them to escape. Brook returned to the Submerge, where he prepared to pick up his crewmates and escape. However, Vice Admiral Prodi noticed him and shot his bazooka at the Submerge, engulfing Brook in a large explosion. However, Brook and the Submerge managed to emerge unharmed, and when the Marines on the coast were all defeated, he prepared to take his crewmates back to the Sunny. Once Luffy defeated his final obstacle, Grount, Brook took everyone to the Sunny, where they ate all their rations within 10 minutes.

Cidre Guild Arc
Out at sea, the Straw Hats were under attack by a group of bounty hunters known as the Cidre Guild and their guns that shot powerful blasts of carbonated water. They managed to escape by blasting off with Coup de Burst, but upon stopping at an island afterward they found that the Sunny's cola supply had run out. Luffy volunteered to go to the island to buy some cola, and found that it was dotted with pools of carbonated water. A ramune saleswoman named Caramel told Luffy that he could get cola from the factory, but warned him that it was controlled by the Cidre Guild. Luffy raced toward the factory, but was confronted by a Cidre Guild platoon led by Ginger. Ginger overwhelmed Luffy with a powerful carbonation blast, causing him to fall into a sinkhole and get swept away by an underground river. The river took Luffy to a pool where Boa Hancock was bathing, and the two reunited and started a battle against Cidre himself. Meanwhile, the other Straw Hats were fighting the rest of the Cidre Guild on the coast, but the fight soon ended as the Guild members revealed they had been enslaved by Cidre and so had no loyalty to him. As the crew dealt with the enslaved, Luffy continued his battle with Cidre. After a brief clash, Luffy eventually overpowers Cidre and defeats him. He then sees an invitation to the Pirates Festival land on the ground and Luffy picks it up. The liberated Cidre Guild slaves gave the Straw Hats barrels of cola in repayment for their freedom. Luffy reveals to Hancock that he received an invitation to the Pirates Festival, and bids her a temporary farewell. As the Straw Hats sail back out to sea, Luffy reveals the invitation to his crew, and to their shock, Robin reads that this year's Expo will include a hunt for Gol D. Roger's treasure. Luffy is excited to go there, and the crew sets sail to Delta Island where the Expo will be taking place, along with the other crews of the Worst Generation.

Introduction
Early Concepts
Summary
In One Piece Green: Secret Pieces, an early concept of the crew was revealed. Brook was supposed to have a Cavalier hat like Yorki, instead of his trademark afro. The concept of Brook as a skeleton musician, had already been thought up by Oda the first time he drew Laboon. Brook's overall design, however, was not finalized back then but the basic idea was kept for a long time until Brook was finally revealed.
Anime And Manga Differences
Takoyaki
In the anime, when Brook first joined the Straw Hats for dinner, the dinner that was being served was a banquet of varied octopus-based cuisine, among which were Takoyaki balls made by Sanji. While this scene does not differ from the manga much due to the dinner's food not being specified in the latter, it does provide a possible contradiction to what is stated in the manga in a later scene. Namely, when Brook and the rest of the Straw Hats enjoy some Takoyaki as a reward for saving Hatchan, Brook states that it was the first time he enjoyed Takoyaki. However, it is only a possible contradiction, as Brook is not seen partaking of Sanji's Takoyaki.
Duels With Ryuma
The flashback of the first duel between Brook and Ryuma is handled differently in the manga and anime versions: Originally in the manga, the duel against Ryuma is so fierce that pieces of Brook's bones are broken and fly off in the process as he takes hits from the zombie. While the duel is much longer with more moves portrayed in the anime, it is noticeably less violent by the fact that though Brook is attacked by Ryuma, there is only one instance where a few pieces of bone are broken off by the attacks. The duel ultimately ends violently with Ryuma stabbing his sword through Brook's skull and creating a huge crack which fortunately "healed" over time. The duel in the anime ends considerably much different with Ryuma threatening to stab Brook's skull instead of stabbing through it like in manga. While the anime portrayed the fight in the flashback less violently, it however portrayed the rematch between the two with the same intensity as in the manga. It showed scenes wherein Brook was stabbed by Ryuma with normally fatal but otherwise bone cracking strikes.
Tea Cup
When informing Luffy's group on what transpired on the Thousand Sunny as it docked near Punk Hazard, his Jolly Roger on his tea cup is different. Neither are identical to his pre-timeskip personalized Jolly Roger, with the manga depicting his cane twice and is missing his top hat, while the anime shows the classic crossbones.

Translation And Dub Issues
Summary
In the 4Kids English dub adaption of the anime, the sequence in which the Straw Hats encountered Laboon was cut for various reasons. Due to this, aside from parts of the story being changed in order to coincide with the cut, a plot hole was created in the 4Kids version of the anime concerning an integral part of Brook's character, namely Brook's relationship with the whale. Though the 4Kids dub stopped at the start of the Jaya Arc, the plot hole created still stands. At the time it was not known that Brook was planned to be a member of the Straw Hats; however, had the 4Kids dub continued, it would have left Brook with little reason to join their crew.

Trivia
Summary
Like other members of the Straw Hat crew, Brook has his own personal jolly roger: it is a skull without a jaw with Brook's trademark afro, a top hat, and a cane in place of the crossbones mark. His jolly roger is also shown on his travel mug and tea cup. His jolly roger was seen worn by one of fans. Oda has also revealed a post-timeskip jolly roger. The design for this one includes a full skull and an afro, with his new glasses and hat. His afro and skull are encircled by bones with his single guitar as his cross-bones in the background. During the beginning of the Punk Hazard Arc Brook is seen drinking from a tea cup with a slightly different personalized jolly roger. The anime adaptation shown yet another version. A mug with his two canes jolly roger can be seen in Hands Up! while Brook play on the deck of the Thousand Sunny. Brook is the oldest member of the Straw Hats, being 88 years old when he joins them, nearly twice the age of the next-oldest member at the time they joined, Jinbe. Brook is one of two Straw Hats that was a captain of his own pirate crew, the other being Jinbe. Brook's height and age before the timeskip, 8'8" and 88 years old, could be related to the usual number of keys on a piano, 88. Before Brook fulfilled the position of musician, there was a running gag where the crew needed a certain position filled, such as a cook or doctor. When the crew met to discuss this, Luffy would always insist that the position that needed filling was a musician. His reasoning is that pirates love to sing, and a musician is essential to a pirate crew. Luffy's request however would always be turned down by his crew for more practical solutions to the situation. In Chapter 488, the first digit of his bounty is a 2. This was a mistake by Oda that was later corrected. Since the introduction of Brook's bounty, there was speculation of whether his 33,000,000 bounty was active or not. In Chapter 600, Marines declared that his bounty was still active, thus ending the speculation. Brook is one of two Straw Hats to have never ridden aboard the Going Merry, the other being Jinbe. Brook's unique Laughter Style of "Yoho" is a stereotypical pirate line commonly found in various pirate related pop culture. It originates from "Dead Man's Chest", the sea shanty from the book Treasure Island. It is possible a partial inspiration for Brook's backstory came from the poem (and song by the British metal band, Iron Maiden) "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner", by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. It involves a mariner and his crew who are led out of the fog of Antarctica by an albatross, but the mariner shoots it down and curses his crew into calm waters. Through a game of dice, Death claims the lives of all his crew. Life-in-Death claims the mariner, who is cursed to a fate worse than death by remaining on the bleak, foggy ship alongside his dead crew for ages, forced to relive all their deaths through the looks in their eyes, until finally acknowledging the beauty of life and its creatures, and released from drifting through the fog. He ecstatically jumps for joy when he sees the first living people to approach and take him away, to tell his tale of warning, now a sadder but wiser man. In the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th fan polls of most popular characters, Brook was ranked 9th, 19th, 19th again and 26th, respectively. Brook is the only known person to have a wanted poster that is not formatted in the uniform style, instead the World Government used one of his old concert posters, and added the standard "WANTED" and "Dead or Alive", and replaced the "World Tour" with his bounty and the paragraph at the bottom. In Episode 509, when Brook starts playing the composition to raise the people's spirits, the music played on his violin is the same piece played by Battler, "The song of the horn eaters", from the third movie. The music, however, was originally used to make animals start rampaging, rather than raise people's spirits. Brook's model sheets in TOEI are named "Blook". In Blue Deep databook, Brook's post-timeskip height is said to be 277 cm, 11 cm taller than his pre-timeskip height. This appears to contradict what he said during his fight with Ryuma; that it was important for him to protect his afro because his body had stopped growing. The idea of a skeleton musician was first conceived by Oda in the year 2000. Brook's recurring use of skeleton-themed puns and ice-based powers appear to be an allusion to dajare (駄洒落 (だじゃれ)?), or the comedic art of Japanese wordplay; especially in the fact that poorly-made jokes, such as the ones made by Brook, are usually met with reactions by a less enthused audience; which the typical response is to shiver and comment on a sudden chill in the room by saying, 寒い… (Samui?, meaning, "It's cold…"). Dajare is also associated with "old man gags", fitting Brook's advanced age. An Algerian-born, French-speaking rapper that goes by the stage name Soolking used a sample of Brook's distinct laugh in the intro of his song Guerilla. The rapper's stage name is also inspired by Brook's epithet, "Soul King". Brook is the first Straw Hat to receive a bounty, as his 33,000,000 bounty was issued decades before Luffy was even born. Brook was the last of the current Straw Hats to join the crew before the timeskip. Brook is the only Straw Hat that has not met either of Luffy's brothers. Brook joined the crew long after Ace met Jinbe and temporarily worked with the Straw Hats in Arabasta Kingdom, and Brook was not with Luffy at Dressrosa to meet Sabo.
