Appearance

Summary

Untransformed, Cerberus is a saber with a long, single-edged blade, a circular knuckle-bow guard, a light-colored hilt, and a light sheath, which is usually kept hanging on Shamrock's left hip via a studded shoulder belt. Fully transformed, Cerberus takes the form of a giant, monstrous dog with three heads, sharp teeth, lolling tongues, and spiked dog collars around each of its three necks. It possesses overall light fur with dark muzzles, ears, and paws. Similar to other awakened Zoans, Cerberus has a scarf of flaming black smoke around it. While its Beast Form is active, Cerberus maintains a physical connection to its original sword form through a black, wisp-like smoke emanating from the blade connecting to its tail.

Personality

Summary

Cerberus is a vicious dog who obediently follows the commands of its master, Shamrock.

Abilities And Powers

Summary

As a sword empowered by a Zoan Devil Fruit, Cerberus has been granted sentience and can transform between a cerberus-sword hybrid and a full cerberus form at Shamrock's command. As an awakened Mythical Zoan in particular, Cerberus has access to unique abilities that, coupled with the sharpness and durability of its original steel blade form, make it a deadly creature. Even the giant Loki, despite being blinded at the time, could not help but react in shock at Cerberus' presence. Being a sword, Cerberus can manifest enormous blades that jut from each of its three mouths, allowing it to strike its targets by piercing them with said blades. More bizarrely, Cerberus is capable of detaching its three heads from the necks and have them hover around by emitting streams of flames from the splitting points, in a manner similar to jet propulsion. This allows the individual heads to act independently from Shamrock's own presence.

Techniques

As Cerberus is incapable of speech, its techniques are named by Shamrock. Scramble (緊急発進(スクランブル), Sukuranburu?): Cerberus detaches its three heads from its main body, making them fly around by spinning its collars and emitting flames from the neck openings. "Scramble" is a military term for the act of quickly deploying military aircraft.

History

Final Saga

Elbaph Arc

Following their conversation with Loki in Elbaph's Underworld, Gunko and Shamrock attempted to leave the giant prince where he was bound. However, Loki ended up attracting Shamrock's ire by directly threatening him, leading to Shamrock equipping and summoning Cerberus from his sword. Loki was horrified by the sight of the creature, while Shamrock issued an order for Cerberus to "Scramble" before recalling its main body, launching its three heads from its body and into the air. While Loki cursed Shamrock's name, Cerberus' heads flew back down from the sky, each one stabbing Loki through the chest.

Trivia

Summary

In Greek mythology, Cerberus (Ancient Greek: Κέρβερος, Kérberos) is a giant, three-headed dog who guards the entrance to Hades, the underworld. Coincidentally, Cerberus made its debut in Elbaph's lowest region known as the Underworld. Cerberus being named after a legendary creature from Greek myth is something it has in common with Gryphon, the sword of Shamrock's twin brother, Shanks. Cerberus' physical appearance seems based on the German Shepherd breed. Cerberus is currently the only known inanimate Zoan who has achieved awakening. Cerberus' blades and the ground at Cerberus' feet have both been shown coated in black flames, similar to those associated with Imu and the Five Elders' abilities. It is unknown if this implies a connection between their powers.
