Franky

Upon returning to Water 7, he became the leader of the Franky Family, a group of ship dismantlers and bounty hunters. Franky and his followers were introduced as the secondary antagonists of the Water 7 Arc, until circumstances forced them to become allies at the end of the same arc and the Enies Lobby Arc. Franky’s dream is to create a ship and circumnavigate the world with it, and he built the Thousand Sunny and joined the Straw Hat Pirates to fulfill his dream. He gained a bounty of 44,000,000 for his involvement at the Enies Lobby Incident. It later increased to 94,000,000 after the Dressrosa Arc.

Following the Raid on Onigashima, his bounty was increased to 394,000,000. “Iron Man” Franky is the shipwright of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is the crew’s eighth member and the seventh to join, doing so at the end of the Post-Enies Lobby Arc. Born “Cutty Flam”, he chose to go by his nickname of “Franky” until eventually permanently discarding his true name per the request of Iceburg to hide his identity. Originally from the South Blue, Franky was abandoned by his family as a 10-year-old, eventually making his way to Water 7. There, he came to be a member of Tom’s Workers, until an incident resulted in his body being heavily damaged and requiring him to augment himself into a cyborg. His chin is very angular and tapers off in three pointed clefts. Franky has an equally angular prosthetic nose made of iron with several rivets and jagged edges, the only replacement part of his exterior body that is not covered in artificial skin. Before being hit by the Puffing Tom, Franky’s forearms were normal-sized, and his overall height was comparably smaller than his cyborg-enhanced self would be. He also had an ordinary nose and chin, both of which were later badly broken in the accident, causing him to repair them with iron. His choice of clothing usually comprises swim briefs, which cause people to call him a pervert, and an open loud Hawaiian “Aloha” shirt with a large golden chain necklace around his neck.

It is rare for him to button up his shirt, have long sleeves, and wear pants or footwear unless the situation calls for it, or someone makes him do so. He also does not like it when people tamper with his look, as seen when Nami’s mind was inside his body and she tried to button up his Hawaiian shirt, which made Franky upset. Before becoming a cyborg, Franky went half-dressed simply because he wanted to. Now, his cyborg body is built in a way that covering himself up limits him from accessing its features (long sleeves prevent him from using weapons installed on his arms, a buttoned shirt stops him from accessing his chest panels, pants keep him from using features on his legs that cause them to separate or expand, shoes are a hindrance for the same reason and also redundant because his feet are toughened with iron). If in a battle, Franky will strip down for the sake of using his weapons or wear specially modified clothing that can transform along with him.

Conversely, Franky always makes sure to cover his back (hence, he wears a shirt) because it is a weak spot; it is still flesh and blood since it is the only part of his body he cannot reach and modify. Unfortunately, Franky is still susceptible to cold and can suffer chills from his half-nakedness. During his first appearance in the Water 7 Arc, Franky wore a masked costume as a disguise so no one could identify him while he bought wood from the Adam tree off the black market. After discarding this disguise, for the rest of the arc up to the end of the Post-Enies Lobby Arc, he wore a red Hawaiian shirt, with lime green palm trees decorating it. During the Thriller Bark Arc, Franky wore a yellow shirt with purple trident-like symbols on the sides and a large one on the back. Near the end of the previous arc up to the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, Franky switched to wearing a purple version of his Hawaiian shirt. During the Straw Hats separation, Franky wore a red coat to protect himself from the cold while on Baldimore, but after blowing up Vegapunk’s laboratory, the skin on his face and frontal body was burned off, revealing his metal endoskeleton underneath, which he covered up with a tiger skin rug due to scaring people who looked at him. He also has a pair of sunglasses, which he usually wears when things start to get serious.

After The Timeskip

Over the two years he was on his own, Franky used Vegapunk’s blueprints to drastically reconfigure his body, repairing the damage he accidentally caused to himself and replacing some old functions his body used to have with better and more powerful implements. Franky’s hair is now controllable and can change different styles instantly by pushing his nose for more than three seconds. While he used to wear it up in a pompadour style, he now frequently changes his hairstyle, typically whenever he wears a new outfit. However, he reverts to his original pompadour style whenever he is inside General Franky. He also has two stitch-mark scars on his torso running down from the back of his neck indicating that he had sewn his skin back on.

He appears to have made modifications to his eyes as well. What appear to be his eyes are actually lenses that resemble human eyes over a pair of robotic eyes underneath. His left eye was seen with inverse coloration and with a glowing red pupil after his battle with Senor Pink, after being knocked around so much it caused the lens over the eye to fall out. Once the fighting against the Donquixote Pirates had come to a close and Franky had some downtime to repair himself, he installed a replacement lens. His shoulders, torso, and arms are also much bigger than before, and with studded hands that look almost robotic in appearance, but he also revealed that inside of his huge arms, he still has a set of normal-sized robotic hands.

He now appears to be wearing metal-rigged suspenders. He has replaced his elbows with large, light blue hinges, his shoulders with a large red ball and socket joint with “BF-37” written on them, and his forearms with large, light blue cubes, with his trademark star tattoo being split by an edge. Surprisingly, Franky’s forearms have hair on them even though they are and his large robot hands can even wear gloves. These new features house upgrades he gave himself during the timeskip. He now wears a red Hawaiian shirt decorate with coconut trees and red swim briefs.

While on Punk Hazard, he was given a large double-breasted black coat by Kin’emon for the cold. When he was able to change into winter attire, he put on a sky-blue double-breasted coat with “BF 37” written on the front and back and paired it with a dark navy blue scarf with red polka dots. During the Dressrosa Arc, Franky wore a white dress shirt and black suit jacket, a bowler hat, as well as his typical swim briefs. He initially had his hair in two long pigtails. After Dressrosa Operation: SOP began, he reformed his hair to resemble a cannon, which comically was only cosmetic.

After the battle against the Doflamingo Family, he wore a white tank top with ‘Corrida’ written across it. He also reformed his hair to resemble Usopp’s hat during the Dressrosa Arc. During the Zou Arc, Franky wore a black v-neck t-shirt with four symbols on it arranged in a square pattern (An “I”, “H”, “T”, and a sun-like symbol). He reformed his hair into an undercut style similar in appearance to Smoker’s post-timeskip hairstyle. Later on, he re-styles it again to resemble a blue whale.

In the Wano Country Arc, Franky wears a dark blue yukata workman coat with kanji on the v of the chest and symbols around the belt. He has red cloth draped around his shoulders, and his hair is reformed to resemble a hammer. During the Raid on Onigashima, Franky changes the appearance of his arms, with the red ball and socket joint now sporting a white line with curved lined patterns, and reddish-orange dot pattern atop, instead of the usual “BF-37” pattern. Franky’s forearms are now black with a grey line, and he is wearing a grey polka-dotted black Hawaiian shirt with what appears to be two large grey buttons, and two grey shoulder cannons protruding from his upper back. He also wears a special Kabuto helmet with a star pattern, with a large ornamental crescent moon atop the helmet, a red and white loincloth, and a large yellow nio-dasuki on his back. When Kin’emon used his Devil Fruit abilities to disguise them, Franky wore a Beasts Pirates disguise, with Franky changing his hairstyle to resemble horns. During the Egghead Arc, Franky changes into a full-body hooded purple jumpsuit with the bottom half of the jumpsuit being orange in color and a belt with a star-shaped buckle. He also wears a unique headset with a wind-up key-shaped top, a futuristic visor, and a pair of blue-green DOM Shoes. After escaping from Egghead and during the Elbaph Arc, Franky wears a fedora and an open leather jacket. After arriving on Elbaph, Franky is later gifted a Viking style outfit made by Gerd. The outfit consists of a large fur-lined cloak that has fur-lined pauldrons with a star pattern on them, which Franky wears bear chested along with a large leather belt strapped diagonally around his chest, with a pteruges skirt and a thick fur-lined belt with a large decorative skull buckle, and a long-horned viking helmet and a pair of boots. Franky’s forearms are now Barrel-shaped, and he changed his hairstyle, with Franky now sporting a long, thick beard grown passed his shoulders.

Franky is an exhibitionist and a self-proclaimed pervert. He is strong-willed, eccentric, free-spirited, and often has a blatant disregard for rules and norms. He does whatever he wants whenever he wants, though he usually wants little more than to build powerful ships or protect those he cares about and at times can appear very eccentric compared to most of the crew because of his strange mannerisms and knack for building odd things (such as his Franky Centaur). He is also highly self-aggrandizing, reveling in how “SUPER” he is and how brilliant his body or inventions are. Despite his strange and goofy behavior, Franky has demonstrated himself to be among the most mature and reliable of the Straw Hats, making an effort to entertain young crewmates while still keeping serious matters in mind. Depending on the situation and the people he is dealing with, Franky can be quite an altruist, as he is quick to defend other people and take action if his friends are harmed; he also holds the belief that no matter what a person is like, they should never be prejudiced or exterminated simply because of who they are. This often causes him to befriend and defend the wrongfully feared and persecuted.

Beveragebased Behavior

Because of his unbiased and protective attitude, he is quick in making friends and allies with the most unlikely of individuals, such as street thugs and pirates. He is seen as a ‘big brother’ figure and is admired by many for his efforts to protect them, such as Nico Robin and the Franky Family. Monkey D. Luffy and Franky share some personality traits, with the exception of fighting needlessly, and both grew to respect each other during the events of the Enies Lobby Arc, despite the disputes the two had during the Water 7 Arc. It has been shown that Franky’s personality can alter somewhat, depending on the beverage in his system. As shown at Enies Lobby, when he drinks fresh juice, he will be concerned about health, stating that health is number one. When he drinks tea, he will make himself relax and enjoy a relaxing moment. When he drinks cola, he will return to his usual self. Franky is also very stubborn, as proven when Iceburg told him to leave Water 7 and he absolutely refused to do so, even though him staying would compromise the location of Pluton’s blueprints. Another of his habits is to refer to the ‘current week’ for exclamation as in “Of course I’m strong, and I’ve been especially strong this week” or “I’ve been like this all week”.

Running Gags

He has a running gag of being linked to “perverted” things due to a combination of his clothes, strange personality, and the situations he gets himself into. He takes it as a compliment when someone calls him a pervert. In addition, Franky has a habit of using the word “hentai” (pervert) in place of others. For example, when on Karakuri Island during the Straw Hat’s Separation Serial, instead of using the word “tensai” (genius) he would use “hentai” then quickly correct himself. His lack of fashion sense seems to stem from the fact that his creativity leans towards crafts and mechanics, which would explain his style of clothing that usually consists of nothing more than his trademark swim briefs, a large golden chain necklace around his neck, and a shirt concealing his rather bulky upper body build.

Another running gag in the series is that of Franky being extremely compassionate whenever he overhears what he experiences a touching story or moment, causing him to cry uncontrollably. While Franky will often admit to being emotionally touched, he believes himself too proud to show his overflowing tears to anyone, vehemently denying his weeping by hiding his face and calling everyone around him “idiots” for seeing him so vulnerable. Usually, his emotional trade will culminate into pulling out a guitar out of nowhere and requesting for everyone to listen to a song he had just written about the story that had just touched him. He also finds the thought of hanging onto money for more than a day to be atrocious. After realizing he still had 1,000,000 left over from the lot they stole from Usopp, he preceded to grab the cash and buy everyone in the bar drinks. This trait seems to have rubbed off on the rest of the Franky Family, as they are all incapable of keeping a hold of any money for long periods of time. Franky also has his musical inclinations and tendency to dance with little stimuli. For example, he grooved out to Fukurou’s unmusical singing of CP9 information. Franky usually calls people by nicknames rather than their actual names as he called Luffy “Straw Hat” when he first joined, but after the two-year separation, he calls everyone by their names and does not use nicknames.

Super

Franky’s most recognizable trait would be his catchphrase, “SUPER!” (スーパー, Sūpā?) When he says it, he typically strikes his signature pose. He leans to one side and bends the knee on the same side. The other leg is straight and going the opposite direction. He throws his head back. His arms go over his head at lock together wrist-to-wrist.

The two separate star tattoos push together to make one star. Most of the time, there is a glow or explosion to go along with it, just as an effect. Another significant trait is the inclusion of the word “Yosh” in his speech, and also shouting “AOW!” when something has excited him, or he is showing off. Unlike Sanji, Brook, and Usopp, Franky has no interest in young beautiful women as he and Senor Pink stated in their battle that Franky kissing Kyuin (SMILE Factory Manager) was to shut her up. Franky did show positive reinforcement when Nami strips Kalifa’s clothes, shouting “AOW!” and giving the thumbs up, which shows his delight for scandalous and often lecherous actions (given his unapologetic exhibitionism). He was even seen mesmerized by the beauty of Boa Hancock and Komurasaki, like Usopp and Sanji were. Since undergoing his modifications, he has become the center of attention for Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp. As a result, he tends to act or talk robotic at times, much to their amusement.

Cyborg Pride

Despite his enjoyment in adding power to his arsenal and building weapons of high firepower, he did not enjoy the idea of eating a Devil Fruit, even if it was a Logia as shown when Franky politely refused the offer to eat the Mera Mera no Mi, as he preferred to retain his ability to swim. Being influenced by his mentor’s last words and motto as a shipwright, Franky is fiercely protective of his creations, enraged at Daruma for sinking his Black Rhino and Brachio Tank. When Usopp and Chopper asked about the idea of sinking the Thousand Sunny in imitation of the samurais during the raid on Onigashima, Franky angrily declared he would not allow it (though Jinbe stated they could hide the ship instead). As evidenced in the Punk Hazard Arc, Franky also has childlike fascinations for concepts like Sentai superheroes, transforming robots, and other trends oriented for little boys. As soon as he entered the playroom with his comrades, the children, more notably the boys, immediately took notice. Franky was forthright in displaying his many robotic capabilities, including his ability to change hairstyles by pressing his nose. The children even imitated his comedic antics, performing a “SUPER!” pose along with himself, Sanji, and Chopper. This is mostly due to Franky’s own childish antics as like Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp, Franky also enjoyed showing off dramatically childish actions such as when fighting Oars, Franky came up with the nonsensical Big Emperor technique in imitation of a transforming robot. During the two-year timeskip, he used Vegapunk’s research and technology to realize his childhood dream of creating his personal transforming robot. In Wano, Franky was completely awed by Sanji’s Raid Suit transformation like Usopp.

Wanted Poster Issues

When Franky got his first bounty, he did not express any issues for or against it. It was when he got his first update did, he started to have problems, where the image was changed to that of General Franky instead of himself, and his value did not break the 100,000,000 mark. He was even more aggravated as Usopp’s update was much higher than his, strangling him in frustration. Upon receiving the second update, Franky became even more annoyed as the image was once again changed to his creation (Thousand Sunny) instead of himself.

Relationships

Crew

At first, Franky was an antagonist to the Straw Hats, robbing them, beating up Usopp, and hunting Luffy. He disliked the Straw Hats for the beating they gave to his subordinates and the destruction of his house. The Straw Hats, likewise, disliked Franky for mugging Usopp, which would serve as the catalyst for the breakup between Usopp and the crew. However, during the Enies Lobby Arc, Luffy forgave Franky and came to accept Franky as an ally. Franky also came to forgive them when he saw the lengths, they were willing to do to save just one of their own, deciding to lend them his aid.

His respect for them grew to the point that he used the Adam Wood he brought with the money he stole from them to build them a brand-new ship, the Thousand Sunny. Franky referred to many of the Straw Hats by nicknames even after joining up with them: Luffy as “Straw Hat”, Chopper as “Reindeer-Gorilla” and Usopp as “Long Nose”; in Thriller Bark, when Zoro and Sanji disappear, Franky called Zoro “Swordsman” and Sanji “Curly Cook”. He also called Nami “Nee-chan” (meaning miss or sis) and Brook “Skeleton”. He calls the crew by nicknames less often in the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, but he refers to Nami as “Girlie” over her objections. However, this seems to have changed over the timeskip, as he now refers to Luffy, Usopp, Brook, Nami, Sanji and Zoro by their names. Interestingly, he often refers to Nico Robin by her full name, instead of a particular nickname, even after the timeskip. Because of his cyborg modifications, Franky is very popular with the younger members of the crew. Because of this, Franky can be considered a father figure to the Straw Hats.

Monkey D Luffy

Luffy did not like Franky at first, largely due to Franky’s role in the robbery of Usopp during the Water 7 Arc, which led to the breakup being more traumatic for Usopp. In return, Franky was angry at Luffy for destroying his house and beating up his gang. The two briefly came to blows until the Galley-La Company broke it up. However, Franky developed respect for Luffy standing against him. During the Enies Lobby Arc, Luffy and Franky came to understand each other very well, to the point that Luffy trusted Franky with the rescue of Robin, whom he was trying to save at the time.

After the events of Enies Lobby, they now get along and Luffy was happy that Franky was willing to build his crew a new ship. Franky was surprised by Luffy being related to Monkey D. Garp and Dragon but understood his strength more. When Franky completed the ship Thousand Sunny, Luffy was very keen and stubborn on having Franky join his crew, especially after he made the Thousand Sunny for them. Franky himself desired to join the crew as well, according to the Franky Family, but he also did not want to leave Water 7 out of remorse about his actions that led to the death of Tom.

This led to Luffy working together with the Franky Family in order to lure Franky into joining the Straw Hats, which ended up happening after Robin and Iceburg managed to convince him to move on from Tom’s death. He believes Luffy can turn the Thousand Sunny into his dream ship, deciding to improve his skills during the timeskip in order to help Luffy accomplish their dreams together. Because of his child-like nature, Luffy is easily amazed by Franky’s cyborg modifications and shipwrighting talent, thinking of him as the epitome of a “boy’s dream”. Luffy is very often left in a state of dumbfounded awe when witnessing Franky’s flashier constructs and weapons. Franky seems to view himself as a sort of big brother figure to Luffy, not unlike the way he viewed himself to the rest of the Franky Family.

During the Dressrosa Arc, Luffy asked Franky if he was interested in eating the Mera Mera no Mi if he managed to win it at the Corrida Colosseum, even though he also stated he did not want somebody else to have Ace’s ability, showing that he trusted the cyborg enough to have his late brother’s power. Despite refusing, Franky still encouraged Luffy to go after the fruit. Franky also respects Luffy’s authority as a captain, rarely questioning it. When Luffy’s brother Sabo told him to protect Luffy, Franky wholeheartedly agreed with tears in his eyes. At Onigashima, Franky showed no fear towards Big Mom despite her being one of the Four Emperors, because he believed his captain will become the Pirate King. When Franky heard Luffy’s true dream that he could only be accomplished by becoming the Pirate King he was awestruck and supported his captain completely. Franky is extremely proud of Luffy and how far he has come, that he doesn’t fear protecting and proclaiming that Luffy is famous. On Egghead, even when confronted with one of the Five Elders, Jaygarcia Saturn, the highest authority in the world, Franky showed no fear of the latter, protecting Luffy when Saturn tried to kill him and even proudly proclaimed Luffy must be so famous that even the highest authority in the world wants to kill him.

Roronoa Zoro

At first, Zoro and Franky were hostile against each other because of the Franky Family’s mugging and subsequent beating on Usopp, which caused Zoro and the other Straw Hats to retaliate against the Franky Family. After Franky joined the Straw Hat Pirates, however, their relationship has improved since then. Like some of the other crewmembers, Zoro also gets annoyed when Franky cries heavily after hearing a sad story. Zoro also dislikes some of Franky’s other juvenile antics, as on one occasion in Thriller Bark, when Zoro and Franky were heading out to assist Brook against Ryuma, Zoro was angry at how easily he was caught earlier, only for Franky to suggest that Zoro should start calling him “Bro” as he helped rescue him, something that an angry Zoro flatly rejects as he would not do something so embarrassing. Franky has described Zoro as an easily provoked pirate with three swords, although he also acknowledged his strength as formidable, considering him one of the strongest fighters in the crew. During the timeskip, they rarely interact but are still shown to get along. During the Dressrosa Arc, Franky went along with Zoro’s plan to stop the birdcage. During the battle in the Flower Capital, Franky followed Zoro’s command to block incoming bullets without question. During the battle at Onigashima, after Zoro was rendered in a coma as a result of the side-effects of the Minks’ medicine and the injuries sustained from fighting King, Franky saved Zoro with his extendable arm as he was falling off Onigashima and then went to look for Chopper to have Zoro treated before it was too late.

Nami

Like the other Straw Hats, Nami did not like Franky at first thanks to what he and his subordinates did to Usopp. After Franky joined the crew, however, their relationship has improved since. Franky seems to treat Nami like a little sister figure, going by the nicknames he uses for her. Nami has described Franky as a perverse freak (when she was stuck in his body because of Trafalgar Law’s Ope Ope no Mi), something that Franky took as a compliment. Nami has also stated that she would rather die than do robotic actions like firing beams, an ability that she clearly does not take seriously. A common gag is her indifference towards Franky’s weirder battle inventions, which tend to be appealing to younger boys. Nami also did not like how Franky modified her Waver into the Shiro Mokuba I without her permission. While she often gets irritated at Franky’s more childish traits, she respects his skills as a shipwright. She was especially grateful to him for building the Mini Merry II, since it reminded her of the Going Merry. When Franky ended up saving Nami’s life from Big Mom by running into the latter in the Kurosai FR-U IV, Nami was extremally grateful and called Franky “Big Bro”.

Usopp

Usopp and Franky were initially enemies, with the latter beating up Usopp after he invaded the Franky House and tried to take back his stolen money. Later, after kidnapping Usopp in order to lure Luffy, Franky was deeply moved by Usopp’s dedication to the damaged Going Merry, which caused him to grow some respect for the sniper and even offer a place for him in his Franky Family. He also told Usopp about the legend of the Klabautermann, after learning of Usopp’s apparent encounter with one. Franky’s bonding with Usopp also got better during the end of the Thriller Bark Arc, where the two worked together to build both a freezing mechanism to bind Oars in place and a memorial grave for the Rumbar Pirates. Usopp also agreed to help Franky maintain the Thousand Sunny during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc. On the Thousand Sunny, they each have workshops that are side by side. Usopp is one of the crewmembers that gets easily amazed by Franky’s robotic traits and inventions due to his young age. After the Dressrosa Arc, Franky now seemed to hold a minor grudge against Usopp, whose first bounty was originally lower than Franky’s own first bounty but later managed to rise to 200,000,000, surpassing Franky’s bounty at the time, which is still lower than 100,000,000.

Sanji

Sanji was one of the Straw Hats that retaliated against the Franky Family after they mugged Usopp. Sanji did not like Franky at the time and even kicked him in the face when they finally met aboard the Puffing Tom. His opinion on Franky improved after the latter joined the crew and built them a new ship with a kitchen that Sanji approved. Sanji once hypocritically referred to Franky as a pervert, due to his lack of pants (which Franky took as a compliment) and often gets annoyed by some of Franky’s weirder traits such as his constant crying after hearing sad stories. Despite this, Sanji respects Franky’s shipwrighting ability and Franky has also acknowledged Sanji as one of the strongest fighters in the crew. Franky has shown some dislike towards Sanji’s womanizing behavior, namely at Thriller Bark when Sanji showed more concern for Nami’s safety rather than Usopp and Chopper after the three initially disappeared and later at Wano Country because of Sanji preparing his soba noodles to attract women rather than gathering samurai as he was originally supposed to do.

Tony Tony Chopper

Chopper helped the other Straw Hats into retaliating against the Franky Family for beating up Usopp and stealing his money. When Chopper actually first met Franky at Enies Lobby, he seemed to be scared of him and thought that his cola-powering was stupid, but after witnessing Franky’s personality-changing hairstyle system, he started thinking that Franky was really fun. Like Luffy and Usopp, he is very easily impressed by Franky’s robotic traits and inventions. Franky at first had trouble identifying Chopper’s species, calling him a gorilla, which irritated Chopper. When Chopper activated his Monster Point at Enies Lobby, Franky went on to save the reindeer by drowning and then rescuing him, which turned Chopper back to normal. Franky forgave Chopper for attempting to attack him beforehand. Like Zoro and Sanji, Franky often gives Chopper shoulder rides and even lets him sit on his head at Zou.

Nico Robin

Robin and Franky have a close relationship with each other. Franky sympathizes with Robin’s plight and has stated that Robin existing was not a crime, as the World Government dictated. Franky was the one unlocking her handcuffs by using the keys that the Straw Hats got by beating every single CP9 agent. They also worked together to bring down Spandam as both of them had a mutual hatred towards him. Like Sanji, Franky does find Robin attractive, complimenting her looks when they reunite after the timeskip.

Robin helped the Straw Hats in convincing Franky to join them by grabbing him on the crotch, much to Franky’s pain and displeasure. He is also the only Straw Hat crewmember who can get on Robin’s nerves, even if she is considered as the calmest member along with Zoro except when he’s arguing with Sanji. She gets annoyed by Franky’s childishness during more serious moments, such as his “Pirates Docking: Big Emperor” gag technique, which she thought was too embarrassing. After the timeskip, they still get along and Franky once saved her from drowning when they arrived on Fish-Man Island, much to her gratitude. Like Nami, she appears to be very indifferent towards Franky’s more ridiculous inventions. She was visibly annoyed when Franky was inside Chopper’s body (whom she is very close with) making weird and lewd faces. Like Nami and Usopp, Franky also dislikes Robin’s odd habit of using gross or morbid facts to discuss possible outcomes, such as when they were searching Thriller Bark for missing crew members. Despite this, Franky and Robin are quite close at times, with Robin allowing Franky to lay his head on her lap at Punk Hazard. Later during the raid on Onigashima, Franky invites Robin to ride on the Kurosai FR-U IV with him, which she happily accepts before Brook took her seat.

Brook

At first, Franky seemed to be very annoyed with Brook’s skull jokes, often threatening to shoot Brook when he did them as well as beating up Brook on Thriller Bark after he continued his jokes. He soon questions Brook about his past and after listening to his story, he became rather fond of him and respected his resolve. This led Franky into accompanying Zoro to head after Ryuma to help get Brook’s shadow back. After the battle against Gecko Moria had ended, Franky, alongside Usopp, built an impressive memorial grave for the Rumbar Pirates which deeply moved Brook. After Brook’s entry in the crew, the two get along very well. After the timeskip, Franky revealed that he was aware of Brook’s status as a famous musician, expressing an unsure attitude of him returning to a life of piracy. He was soon surprised that Brook actually gave up such a life and welcomed him back to the crew when they reunited.

Jinbe

After Jinbe revealed his past and the history of the fish-men’s discrimination, Franky cried calling Jinbe a real man. Like the rest of the crew, Franky showed support of Jinbe joining the Straw Hats. Following Jinbe’s return to the crew at Wano Country, Franky heard from Nami and Chopper of Jinbe’s skills as a helmsman and was impressed that the crew finally has a helmsman that could bring out the Thousand Sunny’s full potential.

Friends

Tom

Franky had utmost respect and admiration for his mentor as a master shipwright. Tom always praised Franky for the often-ingenious designs he would come up with. When the Battle Frankies were used to hurt the innocent, Franky denounced them as his creations, which led Tom to teach him the most important lesson about being a shipwright – that you must be proud of what you’ve created, no matter what. Furthermore, Tom announced that he was proud he had built Gol D. Roger’s ship to further back up that claim. Franky was also willing to risk his life to prevent the Sea Train Puffing Tom from carrying its creator to Enies Lobby, to the point he tried to stop the train with his bare hands, though he failed and his injuries he sustained from being hit by the Puffing Tom resulted in him converting himself into a cyborg. Out of remorse for his hand in Tom’s capture, Franky decided to always stay in Water 7 as penance to ease his guilt. As Iceburg stated, his decision to stay in Water 7 and forming the Franky Family was to atone for his actions. According to Iceburg, the only thing he needed to do in order to leave Water 7, was to forgive himself.

Iceburg

Tom’s other apprentice Iceburg was the one who gave him the nickname “Franky” because “Cutty Flam is a weird name”. His relationship with Iceburg is strange at times as the other man has never really understood Franky’s often weird antics, and Franky was prone to calling him “Baka-berg” or “Ahoberg” at times, “Baka” and “Aho” being the Japanese words for “idiot” or “moron” or something similar; the English dub changed this to “Ice for brains”. Likewise, Iceburg called him “Bakanky”, a portmanteau of “Baka” and “Franky”, changed to “Flunky” in the English dub. His original goal to build a ship strong enough to kill a Sea King was always shunned by Iceburg who did not understand why he kept building his weird and potentially dangerous ships. Tom however always praised Franky for the often-ingenious designs he would come up with. When the Battle Franky’s were used to hurt the innocent, Iceburg was very angry at Franky. Iceburg has eventually forgiven Franky for the part his Battle Franky’s played in the framing of Tom and despite the differences between Iceburg and Franky, the two former apprentices of Tom are the best of friends. Iceburg was relieved to the point of tears to find out Franky was alive after he was hit by the Sea Train and equally Franky was enraged with CP9 after they told him Iceburg was supposedly dead. Iceburg was also aware the whole time that Franky’s actions in Water 7 as the leader of the Franky Family were actually a means of making amends out of the remorse that Franky had felt for his part in Tom’s death. By working with the Straw Hats, and later giving Franky the necessary advice, Iceburg helped release Franky from his responsibility as the protector of Water 7 and allowing for Franky to move on with his life by joining the Straw Hats in order to fulfill his true dream.

Yokozuna

During his youth as Tom’s apprentice, Franky become good friends with Tom’s pet sumo-wrestling frog even teaching him how to crawl stroke. Yokozuna is very loyal to Franky after Tom’s arrest and Franky failed attempt to save him, inspired Yokozuna’s habit of challenging the Sea Train in order to get stronger so he would not lose anymore loved ones. During the Water 7 Arc he joined the Straw Hats and the Franky Family to rescue the captured Franky after he was informed of his old friend’s plight by old lady Kokoro determined not to lose Franky as he had Tom, and during the Enies Lobby Arc, he aided the Franky Family by heroically defending the courthouse from the Just Eleven Jurymen.

Kokoro

During his time as Tom’s apprentice, Kokoro served as a matronly figure to him and Iceburg. Kokoro cared for Franky’s well-being and saddened when she thought he had been killed when he was run over by the Puffing Tom and was willing to pilot the unstable Sea Train, Rocketman to assist the Straw Hats & Franky Family in order to rescue Franky, and even enlisted the aid of Tom’s former pet Yokozuna in saving their mutual friend from meeting the same fate as Tom did. Franky likewise cared for her, as he was concerned for her well-being after she crashed Rocketman into the Tower of Justice, though he did criticize her recklessness for piloting a Sea Train as dangerous as Rocketman and was angered when he discovered she, Chimney, and Gonbe only received nose bleeds from the crash.

Water 7 Citizens

Franky is well liked amongst the general population of Water 7 despite being a criminal, although he still commands a certain fear and respect (though the fear is generally just the town being afraid of Franky going on a rampage and destroying the town).

Kitton

After Franky was ‘”sent” to Karakuri island by Bartholomew Kuma, he quickly befriended a young man (boy in the anime), named Kitton, his cyborg dog, Taroimo, and his grandfather, with his eccentric behavior. After they got to know Franky, they informed him that the only way off the island is with an ice breaker ship, and the only place he could find one was at Vegapunk’s lab. They told him stories about the young genius and warned him about the self-destruct switch. Even after he destroyed their nation’s ‘treasure’ they tolerated him and supplied him with cola when he decided to live in Vegapunk’s weapon lab.

Bartholomew Kuma

Due to Kuma saving the Straw Hat Pirates from Kizaru and Sentomaru, as well as guarding the Thousand Sunny for them for two years, Franky has come to respect the human weapon. Franky reveals to the other Straw Hats that before Bartholomew Kuma was fully converted into PX-0, he made a deal with Dr. Vegapunk to allow him to include a mission of his own into his programming, to protect the ship of the Straw Hat Pirates until the day one of their members’ returns. As such, the Straw Hats are deeply indebted to Kuma for not only saving their lives but for protecting their ship as well. True enough, when Kuma arrived to protect his daughter, Bonney, Franky was ready to protect them both as he stated his intention of repaying his debt for saving him two years ago at Sabaody.

Den

When Franky reached Fish-Man Island, he quickly went looking for Tom’s relatives and found Den. They seem to get along pretty well. Den was first seen on the Thousand Sunny talking with Franky about Tom. Den compliments Franky on the ship that he built and agreed to coat it. He informs that he knows about Iceburg and Franky through letters from Kokoro.

Thunder Soldier

Since they share a common enemy in Doflamingo as well as a common interest in attacking the SMILE factory in Dressrosa, Franky cooperated with Thunder Soldier. After hearing about Doflamingo’s atrocities, Franky is more than willing to help the soldier succeed in his rebellion. After learning that the soldier’s plan for an open rebellion is based on the despair of hearing Doflamingo’s resignation from the Seven Warlords and throne of Dressrosa being false and deciding a final kamikaze attack to end it all, Franky wanted to prevent them from recklessly ending their own lives. Franky also understood Kyros (Thunder Soldier’s true identity) decision to cry after Doflamingo was defeated. Kyros even hid the Straw Hats from the marines at his home.

Kouzuki Family

During his childhood, Franky met Kouzuki Oden when the Roger Pirates visited Water 7. Oden was friendly with Franky, having offered the latter to join the Roger Pirates, which he refused due to his bad impression of pirates stemming from his parents’ abandonment. Though Franky seemingly could not remember about this encounter, he would later ally with Oden’s son and retainers in their quest to overthrow Kaidou and Orochi and realized Oden’s dying wish to open the border of Wano to the world. Franky patiently tolerate working under Minatomo to acquire the blueprints of Kaidou’s mansion on Onigashima and later went through great efforts in searching for it between various people. At Shinobu’s request, Franky went out of his way to steal Yasuie’s corpse so Yasuie can be given a burial. Franky personally led a team of Wano shipwrights to repair damaged ships for the Kouzuki Family’s revolution in preparation for their raid on Onigashima, and he was overzealous in doing so.

Enemies

World Government

Franky is an enemy of the World Government, mostly due to his early ownership of the blueprints of Pluton, but also because he later destroyed them and assisted the Straw Hats in rescuing Robin.

Marines

Because he has a bounty on his head, he is enemies with the Marines. Before joining the Straw Hats, Franky fought alongside the other Straw Hat Pirates versus the Marines’ Buster Call. After the incidents at Enies Lobby, Franky received his bounty. However, to the irritation of Franky, after the time-skip, the Marines have constantly failed to get a picture of his face for his bounty poster and instead used pictures of his creations; first it was General Franky after the Dressrosa Arc and the second time was the Thousand Sunny’s figurehead after the Wano Country Arc.

Spandam

Franky particularly holds an intense grudge against Spandam for framing him, Iceburg and Tom for the attack on the Judicial ship. Spandam’s acts forced Franky’s beloved tutor to forfeit his pardon for building the Oro Jackson to save his students, thus ending up losing his life. When they first met in Enies Lobby again after 10 years, Franky was so enraged by Spandam’s mockery of Tom that he furiously bit Spandam in his head twice. He later ruined Spandam’s ambitions for power by burning the Pluton’s blueprints as payback and later smashing him with Funkfreed, during the Enies Lobby Arc.

Senor Pink

Despite being enemies, the two developed a certain degree of respect for each other during their battle at the SMILE Factory. Senor Pink told Franky if he survived his finishing move, he’d accept defeat, and he even kept his promise when the latter withstood it. Upon being defeated by Franky, the cyborg wiped his fallen adversary’s tears and showed an interest in hearing of Pink’s past, should they ever meet again in the future. Franky later refers to Pink as his “sworn brother” (兄弟分, kyōdai-bun?) and worries about his status upon witnessing S-Shark’s Sui Sui no Mi ability.

Family

Franky Family

Although not related to him by blood, the entire Franky Family was set up by himself to look after the failures and rejects of Water 7 like Zambai. The group are very close, calling each other (and those on good terms with them) “sister” or “brother”. They are the outcasts of Water 7, those whose dream was to work for Iceburg in the Galley-La Corporation but failed the entry exam to become shipwrights. As a result, they had nowhere else to turn, other than to Franky (who also considers himself something of a failure).

Biological Family

Franky is the son of pirates, yet unnamed. His parents seem to have been unamused by the creations he made in his youth, as they were the very reason he was tossed in the ocean. Franky seems to resent them for it, as he called them good for nothing when talking to Tom.

Other

Dr Vegapunk

Franky knows of the scientist known as Dr. Vegapunk, and after being sent to the doctors’ homeland of Karakuri Island by Bartholomew Kuma for two years, came to understand his brilliance and began to study the doctors work intensively to improve himself as a cyborg. After two years of studying his old blueprints, Franky greatly modified himself and became one of the few people in the world able to properly recreate his technology, successfully recreating and integrating the laser technology of the Pacifistas into himself, and even creating the General Franky based on his designs as well. Despite Vegapunk’s affiliation with the World Government and his connection to Kuma, Franky has a genuine respect for Vegapunk as a scientist, viewing him as a role model and practically worships him. When the crew visited Egghead and met one of Vegapunk’s satalites; Lilith and she introduced herself as Dr. Vegapunk, Franky was confused at first, but then became excited and told her about his time on Karakuri Island, then wanted to show off some of his own work to her. Since landing on Egghead, Franky has gushed over Dr. Vegapunk work, being the most impressed of all the Straw Hats by many of his invitations and theories. Franky showed the most support of Dr. Vegapunk and his Satellites riding on their ship. When Vegapunk was stabbed by Jaygarcia Saturn, Franky became horrified, which only worsened when Kizaru dealt the deathblow to the scientist.

Noncanon

Raise Max

Raise Max is a member of the Revolutionary Army, and a magnificent gambling player, which is why he was Franky’s childhood hero and idol. When Franky and Luffy are captured by Gild Tesoro, Franky is very excited to see him. After he meets them, Max helps Luffy and Franky escape.

As the shipwright of the Straw Hat Pirates, Franky is an extremely valuable asset for the crew since he maintains the Thousand Sunny’s condition, along with the other vehicles, instruments, or weapons the Straw Hats may employ. He is also an accomplished surgeon, as he was able to operate on himself twice, even though Franky does not specialize in the field: an especially notable feat, as Franky was close to death when he did so the first time. In terms of combat ability, Franky is one of the most dangerous Straw Hats, a feat acknowledged by the World Government given his current bounty of 394,000,000. By combining his immense physical prowess with his advanced bionic enhancements, Franky took down two CP9 agents – Nero and Fukurou, the latter a master of Rokushiki. After studying on Karakuri Island for two years and returning to his crew, Franky’s considerable fighting skills significantly increased, in tandem with his engineering abilities. Franky emerged victorious over three officers of the formidable Donquixote Pirates: Baby 5, Buffalo, and Senor Pink, easily defeated the Energy Steroid-enhanced fish-man, Ikaros Much, and knocked out Jaki, an inebriated ancient giant, with a single attack. It was only against Sasaki, one of the Beasts Pirates’ Tobiroppo and an Ancient Zoan user with a bounty of 472,000,000, that Franky was temporarily overwhelmed, though the cyborg was able to land a finishing attack after a lengthy, harsh battle. During the Egghead Incident, Franky overpowered Marine Vice Admiral Red King with a single attack. Additionally, Franky has considerable skills in playing the guitar.

Physical Abilities

Due to the bionic modifications done to his body, Franky has incredible superhuman strength. His years of being a ship dismantler, as well as a bounty hunter prior to becoming a pirate seem to have further contributed greatly to his formidable physical prowess; even when running low on cola, he exhibits enough strength to overwhelm a charging, fully grown elephant, stopping it in its tracks before dragging it around by the trunk like it was a rag doll and smashing into the ground with tremendous force. When first confronted by the CP9 members in Water 7, Franky was shown to be strong enough to almost break through Blueno’s Tekkai and quickly overpower him in terms of brute force. Franky was even able to briefly fight on par against Luffy during their initial confrontation, before their fight was interrupted by the Galley-La Company workers. During his fight with Fukurou, Franky easily smashed through his Tekkai causing him to complain in pain, an extraordinary feat as Fukurou is a full-fledged Rokushiki user.

He destroyed several buildings while chasing the rest of the Franky Family, and the citizens of Water 7 feared he could have demolished the entire town. On Onigashima, Franky punched a member of the Beasts Pirates with enough force to create a giant crater upon impact. Even before he became a cyborg, Franky was strong enough to brutalize Spandam’s face with a rifle, disfiguring him with a single hit. After the time skip, with more advanced modification, Franky’s overall strength has become much greater, enough to easily defeat Vice Admiral Red King with one punch, countering and destroying his Steam Punch. In addition to his strength, Franky also displays considerable skill with whatever item he lays his hands upon, be it in or out of combat (i.e., he was seen effectively wielding, with considerable dexterity, a large pair of makeshift nunchakus against Tararan).

Even without his cyborg functions and an arsenal of weaponry, Franky is a highly skilled boxer, which when combined with his cybernetically enhanced physical strength enables him to defeat highly skilled and dangerously powerful assassins with very fast and powerful punches. The fact that he could defeat Fukurou, a very powerful Rokushiki master and member of CP9 on his own is a testament to his prowess. He is also a skilled wrestler, able to use suplexes to great effect as shown when he was able to grapple Kyuin, a massive woman larger than himself and throw her with accurate timing to smash her head into Senor Pink, damaging both of them with one move. He copied Senor Pink’s signature wrestling technique, the Baby Buster, and developed his own variation which he used to overpower the samurai Suke. Franky has extreme superhuman durability due to his cybernetic enhancements allowing him to shrug off firearms, artillery, and even a land mine planted by Spandam without any strain.

Even when low on cola, Franky is resilient enough to withstand barrage of powerful punches from Fukurou and simultaneously punched Fukurou back in retaliation. He could also survive being smacked down by Oars, a gigantic zombie, with extreme force and also Kuma’s Nikyu Nikyu’s powerful shockwave directly to his abdomen. While on Karakuri Island, Franky managed to survive the giant explosion that completely destroyed Vegapunk’s lab after he accidentally pushed the self-destruct button despite having his skin gruesomely burned off in the process. Even before he became a cyborg, Franky was brutally run down by the Puffing Tom in a failed attempt to save Tom. While on the verge of death, he survived long enough to not only swim and climb aboard an abandoned ship, but also used the ship’s wreckage to modify himself into a cyborg. After the timeskip, Franky is tough enough to withstand Pink’s suplex smashes that damaged his back, the only part that remains unmodified, and even his Baby Buster attack that can cause extreme damage to his cybernetic face. Despite all the damage he suffered, Franky could still exert enough physical power to push back the Seastone SMILE Factory to halt the constriction speed of the Birdcage. He also seems to have great hearing, as he could hear the dwarves trying to open the SMILE factory door from a fairly long-distance while been back slammed by Senor Pink. Franky is an extremely capable and strong swimmer such that his Franky Butterfly technique allows him to swim up waterfalls. When he was younger, he taught the sumo-wrestling frog Yokozuna the crawl stroke. Franky even declined Luffy’s offer to eat the Mera Mera no Mi as he preferred to retain his ability to swim.

Tactical Skills

Despite his wild and reckless nature, Franky is very tactical, willing to use deception and trickery to gain an advantage in battle. He has shown a great understanding of psychological warfare. In Enies Lobby, he cleverly deceived Spandam and numerous other Marines into leaving by appearing to self-destruct with his Coup De Boo, effectively exploiting their cowardice and fear of death when in reality, he intendended to break free from his chains using Coup De Boo, which he succeeds as Spandam and the Marines were busy escaping. When he was unable to keep up with the extreme speed of Fukurou’s Soru, he used insults to taunt Fukurou into disregarding Soru, tricking him into direct close quarter combat. Fukurou’s anger at his insults allowed Franky to fight the Rokushiki user on equal terms despite Fukurou’s speed advantage as a Soru user. When Chopper went on a rampage in his Monster Point, Franky exploited Chopper’s weakness as a Devil Fruit user by hurling him into the sea, using the ocean to neutralize Chopper’s Zoan transformation while also saving him from the fatal strain of Monster Point. In Dressrosa, while attempting to break into the SMILE Factory, Franky exploited Pink’s hard-boiled and compassionate nature by lying to him that there was an old lady in trouble in a far distance, leading Pink to go find the old lady while breaking free of Pink’s suplex hold that kept him restrained. In his fight against Sasaki, Franky used intelligent tactics like targeting his weak point with powerful attacks, including ejecting from his robot that was about to be destroyed by Sasaki’s finishing move, allowing him to defeat Sasaki with a point-blank laser beam.

Construction And Engineering Expertise

In addition to his cyborg-enhanced body, Franky is also a master craftsman, being a first-rate shipwright and an exceptional carpenter from working under Tom. As both a former employee of Tom’s Workers and one of Tom’s apprentices, Franky is well-versed in the field and his skills as a shipwright are top-notch. This was evident in his youth, when he helped in the construction of the first Sea Train, the Puffing Tom alongside Tom, showing that his skills as a shipwright extend to naval architecture as well. He helped achieve this feat while budget his own line of thirty-five specially designed, numbered battleships named the “Battle Frankies”, with each ship capable of killing a Sea King. After Tom’s death, Franky decided to atone for his death by dismantling ships instead of building them.

As a Ship Dismantler, he regularly took apart ships and other vehicles from pirates and looters, and even established his own group of dismantlers called the Franky Family, who helped Franky collect loads of materials from the ships they dismantled. They obtained, purchased, and sold said materials through dealings in the Underworld, due to the questionable methods they use to get by in Water 7. Franky used this method for years to not only continue their dismantling business, but to personally build their base, arm his group with weapons, give them plenty of money and supplies, and even make uniforms for them that can take cannon fire. Despite all this, even his years of dismantling had not affected his carpentry skills in any way. The best proof of this was when he was able to finish the construction of the Thousand Sunny, with the aid of Iceburg, Yokozuna, and the remaining Galley-La foremen, under a short period of time.

Franky is also a brilliant and creative inventor with which he used to create his cybernetic body that has a vast array of weapons and incredible might that allow him to fight opponents with inhuman physical prowess on equal ground; he also equipped the Thousand Sunny with incredible gadgets, weapons and even the capacity of flight. His scientific inclination and his intellect allowed him to self-teach and grasp the concept of the blueprints and technology of the revered scientific mind of Vegapunk, which were left behind in one of his labs on Karakuri Island, and thought to be impossible to create, complete, and even understand. After his two years of training on that island, Franky successfully proved his ability to not only understand his technology, but also recreate it. The greatest example of this feat is Franky’s addition of the light lasers to his arsenal, which was a form of technology that only Vegapunk himself was originally able to create. Franky was also able to realize Vegapunk’s concept of a transforming robot with the use of the recently discovered alloy Wapometal.

Franky’s engineering skills even extend to gadgetry as well, as he had helped Usopp with upgrading Nami’s newest Clima-Tact. Having once held onto the blueprints for Pluton before incinerating them, Franky was the only person with the potential of recreating the fearsome Ancient Weapon of mass destruction before the knowledge was lost forever. A scientific genius of his own right, he developed a cannon-like mechanism that accumulates air rapidly within a confined space right before releasing it as a compressed air-based projectile powerful enough to bring down large establishments as well as provide a superb means of propulsion, which served as a template that gave birth to the creation of his “Coup De Vent” functions. He designed the Thousand Sunny himself featuring several unique functions like the Coup De Burst and the Soldier Dock System. He has actually built an entire bridge over a large gap and even put in small details such as carved handrails in an extraordinarily small amount of time (though he wanted an extra thirty seconds since he was not satisfied with the finish).

He can also somehow build stairs suspended in midair, and while they can support human weight, they do not stand for long. Franky was able to lead a group of Wano carpenters to fully restore the broken ships in preparation for the raid on Onigashima. With Usopp’s aid, Franky also restored the Thousand Sunny, which was badly damaged by Big Mom and later the Beasts Pirates, into perfect condition in a single night.

Cyborg Body

Franky is a human with artificial parts commonly known as a cyborg. His front is heavily armored and insensitive to most attacks, while his back, where he could not reach, remained vulnerable. His body is equipped with a wide variety of weapons, including rockets, an extendable right arm, the ability to breathe powerful flames as well as being able to release powerful blasts of air from multiple parts of his body. His stomach contains a refrigerator compartment that can hold up to three bottles of cola to fuel him and his attacks. His personality is also affected by the type of beverage that is stored in his refrigerator compartment. He can use up large amounts of cola in an instant to launch powerful bursts of air from his arms, utilizing these blasts for techniques such as the devastating “Coup de Vent”.

Bf36cyborg Tactics

These modifications grant him a vast amount of strength, so much in fact that he was able to successfully overpower CP9 Members Nero and Fukurou. His back, however, was still wholly flesh and blood and was, therefore, one of his greatest weaknesses, since Franky did the modifications himself, and could not reach his back. Even without modifications, his back is dense enough to endure multiple pistol shots or a Rankyaku from an experienced Rokushiki user. Additionally, despite having most of his anatomy reinforced with solid steel, Franky’s cyborg body is buoyant enough to allow him to stay afloat on the surface of deep water. It would seem that Franky is also an excellent swimmer, and was so even before becoming a cyborg, a fact made apparent by his ability to swim faster than the sea kings that he frequently tried to slay with his series of Battle Frankies during his childhood.

Using his “Franky Butterfly”, he even managed to swim up the waterfalls of Enies Lobby. Franky’s left arm is primarily used as a gun; a multi-barreled machine gun can pop out of his wrist, any of his fingers can fire bullets, and by turning aside his hand, Franky can reveal a cannon in his arm that uses his left hand as a targeting device. Franky’s right hand is an iron fist beneath a more normal-looking cover, and the hand has a chain that allows him to make attacks from a distance. Some common attacks include Strong Right: Franky launches his right fist forward and can reel it back in with a chain, similar to Luffy’s Gomu Gomu no Pistol; and Coup de Vent: Franky connects his arms with a T-shaped pipe and sends a powerful blast of concentrated air out that can destroy entire building complexes. The Coup de Vent is his most powerful attack which incidentally uses up the most cola. Franky also has the power to turn into a centaur-like form with an extra set of legs strangely extending forward from his pelvis. Despite his pride in it, it seems to do relatively little for any of his combat abilities, save for using his four legs to trap his enemy’s limbs, leaving them completely at the mercy of his attacks. It was shown during Franky’s fight with Fukurou that depending on what kind of drink Franky has, it can change his hair style and attitude when Chopper accidentally hands him vegetable juice and tea. It also shows that Franky’s strength is many times greater when he has more bottles of cola in his stomach fridge, and he needs it as a fuel for certain attacks. His hair acts as a kind of meter to the amount of cola in his stomach, being tall if he is full and sagging if empty. Franky’s stomach compartment can hold up to three bottles, or six liters, of cola.

Bf37armored Me

After two years of research Franky successfully merged his own technology with the science of the renowned genius Dr. Vegapunk. with nearly all of the futuristic and state-of-the-art technological aspects of the Marines and the world as a whole (i.e. the Pacifista project and the assimilation of Devil Fruits into weapons) have been incorporated into Franky’s upgraded bionic modification. It is also worth noting that Franky’s original transformation into BF-36 was initiated as a quasi-surgical operation of necessity to save his life, and it is assumed was accomplished with some modicum of haste from a medical standpoint, since he suffered from massive external and internal injuries; whereas the process to become BF-37 was a two year-long planned process done with highly advanced machinery in an abandoned fully-stocked, scientific laboratory, on his preexisting cyborg body, so Franky’s own experience being one beforehand was likely factored in when customizing its schematics and functions, as well as understanding whatever notes and information of scientific research that Vegapunk left behind.

Franky even went the extra mile with his modifications, adding utility functions like his “Franky Nipple Lights”, and nonsense functions like his pop-out hair feature. With all this in mind, post-timeskip Franky is truly a force to be reckoned with. The scientific weapons that Franky has displayed so far in the post-timeskip are noticeably more offensive and destructive than his BF-36 weapons. So far, he has revealed explosive missiles housed in his large shoulders, and a modified “Coup de Vent” known as “Franky Radical Beam”, that fires a powerful explosive laser beam instead of air, along with other powerful weaponry. He also features more advanced and powerful variations of the BF-36 artillery such as an improved flamethrower installed in his body that allowed him to breathe out large fireballs and the machine guns installed in his new cybernetic hand to rapid-fire bullets in long-range combat. The fact that he was able to have laser beams in his arsenal despite the fact it was said that only Vegapunk was able to create them further proves Franky’s engineering mastery. His engineering skills also extend to anatomy as he modified himself into a cyborg and was able to perfectly understand Vegapunk’s notes on animal modification and his Pacifista project. He is still fueled by cola, and now has enough capacity to endure a prolonged fight with Senor Pink, Dellinger, Machvise, and the Marines led by Bastille that were stationed at Dressrosa, before needing to fall back on his reserve cola. As with his previous body, Franky could not reach his back, and there it is left unmodified.

Bf38general Franky

Franky sometimes pilots General Franky, an enormous Mech-Suit made of a super alloy known as Wapometal, with a height of 13m. It is modeled after a shogun, and is a one-person weapon/vehicle, Franky himself is able to pilot it from a control room in the chest. It is equipped with a giant marauder’s sword named “Franken”. However, because he is rather inept at using a sword, the attacks he uses are seemingly ineffective, and it sometimes appears most of its projectile armaments are purely from Franky himself. Franky can also use the giant fists to deliver powerful punches and can also slam its heavy body on his enemies to crush them. At first the shogun seemed mostly useless as many of its attacks came from Franky himself, however, it was not until his battle against Baby 5 and Buffalo that its strength was truly shown. It has been shown to possess both powerful weaponry and be extremely tough and resilient to damage, for it was able to take a point-blank missile attack from Baby 5 that only managed to knock it over without doing any damage. His robot is also capable of launching an attack similar to both his Coup de Vent and Franky Radical Beam known as his “General Cannon”, which fires a large blast of compressed air at his opponent(s). Franky compares the power of this attack to Thousand Sunny’s “Gaon Cannon”. The robot can also provide protection against any outside agents, as Franky used it to stand in the middle of a huge cloud of Caesar Clown’s H2S gas completely unaffected.

Marksmanship

Though not on the same level as Usopp, Franky is an expert marksman, being very skilled in the use of the long-range artillery and mid-range projectile weaponry he has built and installed into his body. On Fish-Man Island, Franky easily blasted down multiple fish-men with the cannons in his shoulders. In Dressrosa, he shot down numerous members of the Donquixote Pirates while attempting to break into the Toys House. During his battle with Sasaki, Franky was able to aim with great accuracy at the weakspot on Sasaki’s belly with a Franky Radical Beam while flying through the air, defeating him.

Weapons

Though Franky is seldom seen carrying weapons (owing to the fact that he stores several within his body), he has wielded tools and implements as weapons from time to time, most notably his carpentry tools. At other times, he has carried conventional weapons that he seems to be able to wield proficiently. Such weapons include custom-built nunchucks and hand-held cannons.

It was then he met the legendary shipwright Tom, who decided to make him his apprentice after seeing his craftsmanship. Tom’s other apprentice, Iceburg then gave Cutty Flam the nickname “Franky” because “Cutty Flam is a weird name”. Franky learned shipbuilding from Tom, but he spent most of his time constructing warships designed to hunt and defeat Sea Kings, each one named “Battle Franky” with a number corresponding to the order of construction. He once proclaimed he would make his own dream ship with him as the shipwright, to which Tom said that if he could do that, he would definitely surpass him. Around this time, Tom was visited by the Roger Pirates during their final voyage.

One of the members of this crew, Kouzuki Oden, invited Franky into their crew, but Franky quickly declined the offer, stating his distrust in pirates because of his parents and his refusal to become one himself. When Franky was 12 years old, Tom was put on trial for having built the Oro Jackson, the ship on which the Pirate King Gold Roger sailed the Grand Line. Tom made a deal that he would be pardoned if he could build the Sea Train Puffing Tom in ten years. After fourteen years had passed (ten to build the train and the first line, four more to build the other three lines the train uses), the Marines were going to let Tom off as thanks for creating the train. However, when Franky was 26 years old, he was framed by CP5’s current leader, Spandam, who was after the blueprints for the ancient weapon Pluton, which had been handed down to Tom through the shipwrights of Water 7.

Spandam used the warships that Franky had built to fight the Sea Kings to attack Water 7, and although Tom and his apprentices stopped the attack, it appeared to everyone that they had been the ones attacking. As a result, Tom was sentenced to death. As Spandam was taking Tom away, Franky hit him in the face with a rifle. The young man later stood in front of the Puffing Tom, trying to rescue Tom. When Franky was run down by the train, his body was badly injured; he was presumed dead.

He managed to fix himself with spare parts from an abandoned ship and had “BF 36” tattooed on his shoulders, making himself the 36th “Battle Franky”. Four years after his disappearance, he went to see Iceburg and was outraged to find that he had allied himself with the World Government. The two argued, but Iceburg gave Franky the Pluton’s blueprints and also was driven to tears over seeing Franky was still alive. Iceburg then told Franky to leave Water 7 so the blueprints would never be found. He refused saying it was his decision to stay or not to, which then made Iceburg angry and caused an argument between them.

Franky went into the backstreets where Zambai and his gang attacked him when he entered their turf. They quickly were defeated and the turf was taken over by Franky. He then found Mozu and Kiwi drinking in the middle of the day and he proceeded to drag them away for some cola and recruited them as his followers. He then took them to the newly made Franky House where he formed the Franky Family. With them he became Water 7’s underground mafia leader. He stole from incoming pirates, dismantled ships and became known as a crook on Water 7. While he did indeed do some immoral actions (stealing from good pirates as well, like he would one day do to the Straw Hats) he mostly did all of those out of a sense of atonement. He constantly blamed himself for Tom’s death and decided to spend the rest of his days on Water 7, attacking incoming thieves and looters, organizing all the thugs so that he could keep the city crime in check, and overall protecting the city that Tom loved. He, at that point, was never able to forgive himself for what happened to Tom. During his years with the Franky Family, he also worked to gather enough money to purchase the precious Adam Wood to accomplish his dream.

Water 7 Saga

Water 7 Arc

Four years later (when Luffy and his crew arrived on Water 7), Franky was introduced as the boss of “The Franky Family,” a group of ship dismantlers. Shortly before Franky encountered the Straw Hats face-to-face, his band of misfits attacked an unsuspecting Usopp and made off with the 200,000,000 he was carrying. This incident led to an uproar from the rest of the Straw Hat crew, causing Luffy, Sanji, Zoro and Chopper to destroy the Franky Family’s base of operations, the “Franky House,” in retaliation (more so for badly beating Usopp than for stealing their money). After Franky discovered what happened to his “family,” he sought revenge and challenged Luffy to a duel. In the middle of the battle, the two were interrupted by the foremen of the Galley-La Company, who accused the Straw Hat Pirates of the attempted assassination of the town’s mayor, Iceburg.

After Franky blew up a good portion of the dock with Coup de Vent, Luffy escaped the battle with Nami in tow, leaving Franky to deal with the foremen. Angry that his prey was able to escape, Franky concocted a plan to kidnap Usopp and Merry in order to lure Luffy out into the open. Franky brought both Usopp and the ship to his secret base, the old “Tom’s Workers” workplace with Mozu and Kiwi, and waited for Luffy to come to the aid of his crewmate. It is during this time that Usopp reveals to Franky that he had left the Straw Hat Pirates and had taken control of the Going Merry. When Usopp revealed his plans to sail back to the East Blue, Franky revealed he knew that the ship was doomed as he saw the damage personally when he was hauling the Merry up and determined that Galley-La’s evaluation was accurate. After a brief conversation concerning Merry’s dismal future, and Franky explaining to Usopp about the legend of the Klabautermann; CP9’s Kalifa, Kaku, Blueno and Rob Lucci arrived and kidnapped the two men after knocking out the Square Sisters, bringing them to the Puffing Tom which was scheduled to return to Enies Lobby within the hour. On the way, Franky learned the true reason Iceburg built ships for the World Government – to gain powerful friends who would protect him from any overt acts of the World Government, such as the trial which had doomed Tom. This clever tactic is why CP9 had to spend five years undercover and go through the trouble of framing the Straw Hats, instead of simply kidnapping Iceburg directly. Though Sanji and a newly freed Usopp (who at this point has taken on his Sogeking persona) fought to save both Franky and Nico Robin from the clutches of CP9, (with Franky even helping by fighting against CP9’s newest member Nero), they were soundly defeated and forced to regroup with the rest of the Straw Hat Crew, while a recaptured Franky and Robin reached Enies Lobby alongside CP9.

Enies Lobby Arc

Upon reaching Enies Lobby, Franky and Robin were held by Spandam, the obnoxious and overbearing leader of CP9. However, upon hearing the voice of Luffy calling for Robin, Franky used a Coup de Boo to send himself and Robin flying through a wall and out to the balcony of Enies Lobby’s Judiciary Tower. It was here that they both encountered Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Crew, who promised to take back their friend at any cost. After hearing such a heartfelt decision, Franky decided to bet on the pirates and burn the blueprints for Pluton which CP9 had worked for the last five years to obtain. According to Franky, the situation now came down to whether the pirates could defeat CP9 and take back their lost crewmate.

If Luffy and the others were able to rescue Robin, the World Government would be unable to use her in order to locate and build one of the ancient weapons. However, if the Straw Hats failed, there would no longer be any chance to resurrect Pluton and challenge the World Government’s power. This led to Spandam pushing Franky off the balcony in sheer anger, but fortunately, Franky and the Straw Hats who jumped from the roof, were rescued by Kokoro, Chimney, and Gonbe, who caught them all on the Rocketman, and then crashed into the judiciary tower. With everyone okay, Franky officially teamed up with the Straw Hats. Teaming up with the Straw Hats for the opposition against Enies Lobby, it was at this point that Franky’s inhuman strength proved invaluable for the Straw Hats’ in their fight to rescue Nico Robin.

At first, Franky had a hard time fighting Fukurou due to being low on cola. Luckily Chopper was there to give Franky what he needed. Re-energized, Franky eventually defeated Fukurou even though it was a difficult battle. When Chopper transformed into Monster Point and went on a rampage, Franky followed him to Nami’s location and talked it out with Nami before shooting Chopper out of the room Zoro and Sogeking were in and into the sea to negate his Devil Fruit abilities, telling them that it was Nami’s idea before rescuing him. After rescuing Chopper, Franky goes after Spandam and Robin through a hidden passageway, shown to him by Kokoro, Chimney, and Gonbe.

He then ran into a battle between Luffy and Lucci. Luffy was able to hold Lucci back long enough for Franky to escape. When he reached the Bridge of Hesitation, he stepped on a land mine set by Spandam as a precaution. Regardless, Franky managed to finally catch up with Spandam and Robin just in time to shield Robin from gun fire. He removed Robin’s shackles and helped her secure an escape ship because the Buster Call was beginning. Using his immense strength, he took Spandam’s Elephant Sword Funkfreed and slammed it on top on Spandam, knocking him out. He then cleared out all the marines on the ship, allowing the Straw Hats, sans Luffy, to commandeer and land on it. However, they were attacked by Buster Call ships that send in 200 captains and lieutenants to take care of them and capture Robin. As he was fighting off a rush attack of 200 Captains employed in the Buster Call, the Straw Hats heard a voice below them, and thus he followed them and jumped onto the Going Merry. He then later helped the Straw Hats escape by using a Coup de Vent, blowing the blockade of buster call ships apart and sent the Going Merry flying through it. When the Going Merry fell apart and the Straw Hats gave it a Viking funeral, he was actually seen crying and on all fours.

Postenies Lobby Arc

Back in Water 7, Franky revealed to the Straw Hats that his dream was to have a ship sail around the world built from the legendary Adam Wood. He also revealed that he used the 200,000,000 that he stole from the Straw Hats to buy the Adam Wood and said that he wanted them to sail on the ship he would build with this Adam Wood. When Marine Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp arrived, Franky was shocked to learn that the latter is Luffy’s grandfather and that revolutionary Monkey D. Dragon is his father. Later, during the Straw Hats’ party, Franky joined in alongside everyone else that participated in the Enies Lobby fight. Franky would spend the next several days and nights building the Straw Hats’ new ship on Scrap Island, with help from Iceburg, Yokozuna, Paulie, Peepley Lulu, and Tilestone. When he received his bounty of 44,000,000, his comrades asked Luffy to take Franky with them. Despite his initial protests against leaving, and having his underwear stolen just to get him to see the Straw Hats, Franky eventually broke down and gave in to his friends heartfelt pleas to go with the Straw Hats, officially accepting Luffy’s invitation to join the crew as their new Shipwright. Franky defended his new ship against Garp’s attack, until Usopp arrived. Afterward, he helped protect the Thousand Sunny from the attack by quickly escaping, using the ship’s Coup de Burst.

Thriller Bark Saga

Thriller Bark Arc

After sailing for some time on the Thousand Sunny, Franky and the rest of the crew came across a mysterious barrel floating on the ocean. Upon opening it, a flash shot up from it. A storm then suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Franky, seeing the situation, decided to reveal another special feature of the Thousand Sunny, its paddle wheel form. Using the paddle wheels, Franky and the rest were able to escape the storm.

After braving a storm that mysteriously came afterwards, Franky and the rest of the crew found themselves in the presence of a ghost ship. This ship apparently belonged to a skeleton named Brook who through by chance initially accepted Luffy’s offer to join the crew. The skeleton’s comments about the ship pleased Franky. Just as Brook was about to perform before Franky and the rest of the crew after dinner, a ghost appeared and some clanking sounds were heard. These sounds were caused by the gates of the island that suddenly appeared, Thriller Bark, closing.

These events prompted Brook to head to the island before Franky and the rest of the Straw Hats’ eyes. With Luffy’s resolve to go to the island, Franky decided to join him also. At that moment, Franky then decided to explain the soldier dock system more thoroughly to the rest of the crew. Included in his explanation, Franky revealed to them the Mini Merry II, a small boat built in the likeness of the Going Merry. This pleased the rest of the crew and Nami, Usopp, and Chopper, decided to try it out.

When the three did not return for some time, Franky and the rest decided to go ashore and look for them. However, before they could venture to the island, Franky and the rest were apparently attacked by an apparently invisible thing. This thing tried to stab Luffy with one of Zoro’s sword which Franky luckily kicked away before it could hit it’s mark. The thing later left Franky and the rest baffled. After the Thousand Sunny got caught in what was apparently a spider web, Franky and the rest descended to the island.

There they met the Cerberus which Franky was somewhat eager to fight against. After Luffy tamed the beast, Franky and the rest met two more of the island’s creatures. Franky caught the unicorn while Luffy caught the “Geezer Tree”. Franky and the rest then came across some ghosts which he tried to defeat one with Fresh Fire. The ghost was unaffected and instead passed through Franky and temporarily drained his will to go on.

After Franky and the rest who also affected by the ghosts recovered, they pressed forward. Franky and the rest later met with some Zombies and defeated them with a combo technique. The group then met with an old man who looked like a Zombie, Spoil. The old man asked them to defeat Gecko Moria who had stolen his shadow. Overcome by Spoil’s desire to walk once more in sunlight without fear, Franky was deeply moved to tears and agreed along with the others to help Spoil and the other victims.

After Sanji and Zoro were separated from the group, more zombies assault Franky, Luffy and Robin. During the escape, Luffy got kidnapped, and before Robin and Franky could attempt to save him, they on a bridge are assaulted by a gigantic spider that acts like a monkey. Franky destroyed the bridge to flee from the general zombies. They were falling down, but then Robin makes wings of 100 arms and is flying in the air for 5 seconds. Franky used Strong Right to safely pull themselves to the other side of the bridge.

Franky complained about Robin using him as a stepping-stone after she climbed up ahead of him. Suddenly Brook appeared from the sky. After Brook fell, the gigantic spider-monkey (Tararan) came back up on the sides. Franky took an iron chain and 2 stone pillars in order to create stone nunchakus, which he hit Tararan with. Franky and Robin then became trapped in the web, but Brook defeated and purified Tararan.

After the battle, Brook explained to Robin and Franky how the Zombies were made and their weakness. Later the two saved Chopper and Usopp from being killed by the zombies and accompanied them back to the ship where they found Luffy, Zoro and Sanji sleeping. After waking them up, Franky told the whole crew about Brook’s past and how he belonged to the crew that befriended Laboon. After that Luffy told the Straw Hats to prepare for a counterattack on Thriller Bark. After aiding Brook, Franky and Zoro proceeded to assist the other members of the crew in taking down Oars.

After being beaten down, he quickly recovered and teamed up with Chopper to land a devastating blow. Soon, the fight against Moria ended with the Straw Hats being victorious due to Luffy’s arrival and empowerment via his new form, Nightmare Luffy, and all those who had their shadows stolen got them back. Bartholomew Kuma, who had arrived earlier, reported this situation to the Marines and they order him to kill everyone at Thriller Bark. Instead of following his orders however, he promised to leave everyone else on the island alone if they just let him kill Luffy, who had been badly wounded in the fight against Moria. The Straw Hat crew and the rest of the island refused, so Kuma unleashed a bomb made out of air and badly wounded everyone. However, Kuma was moved by Zoro’s decision to sacrifice himself for Luffy and left everyone to recover. Franky joined the Straw Hats and the rest of the people in a celebratory party at Thriller Bark (except for Zoro, who had taken all of the damage and pain Luffy had acquired while being on Thriller Bark from his deal with Kuma, and needed to recover even longer) where Luffy finally revealed to Brook that he is friends with his friend, Laboon. Brook then unveiled a Tone Dial which had the last musical performance of the Rumbar Pirates on it, he noted that now he has new friends in the Straw Hats, he no longer needed it and would instead give this Dial to Laboon when they finally met again. Brook then asked if he could still join the Straw Hats and Luffy merely said “Ok,” shocking the rest of the crew. Franky then helped Brook finally bury his Rumbar Pirate friends on Thriller Bark and made a masterpiece tombstone for them.

Summit War Saga

Sabaody Archipelago Arc

After Duval orders the Flying Fish Riders to sink the Thousand Sunny using a giant anchor, Franky and Usopp utilize two of its newest features: The Chicken Voyage, which pushes the ship in reverse, and the Gaon Cannon, which obliterates the base of the Flying Fish Riders. Usopp is awed by the new feature of the Thousand Sunny, while Franky explains it uses five barrels of cola in total, two barrels for a Coup de Burst and three barrels to fire the cannon. Thus, the Gaon Cannon should be preferably used in emergencies. The Straw Hats travel to the Sabaody Archipelago and reach Yakuriman Mangrove, seeing soap floating in the air. While looking for the mechanic, Camie gets kidnapped and is given to an auction house to be sold into slavery, Franky arrives at the Human Auctioning House with the aid of the Flying Fish Riders.

Silvers Rayleigh takes the chain off Camie’s neck, allowing it to explode away from her, angering Franky as he just found the key for her release forcing him to justify his efforts by tossing the keys to the other would-be slaves, setting them free as well. Franky assists Luffy and two other Supernovas, Eustass Kid and Trafalgar Law in dealing in the Marines, and Duval arrives with his renamed-Rosy Life Riders to make a getaway. The Straw Hats return to Shakky’s Rip Off Bar. Shakuyaku is shocked to see Hatchan wounded and allows them in to recover. Meanwhile, Rayleigh reveals he was Gol D.

Roger’s First Mate, and that Roger was never really caught by the Marines, but gave himself up after contracting an incurable illness four years prior, prompting his crew to conquer the Grand Line and seek Crocus’s aid in fighting the disease. When all was done, Roger secretly disbanded his crew a year before his death, many disappeared and never heard of again, while Roger gave himself up a year later in the final stages of his illness. The Marines claimed they captured Roger, and used his public execution in his home town Loguetown to set an example to all pirates, but Roger’s death started the very “Great Pirate Age” to this day. Rayleigh was looking for Luffy based on what Shanks told him about Luffy’s personality being like Roger’s. As they walk away, Franky thinks about Rayleigh being the second in command of Roger’s crew, for whom Tom had built the Oro Jackson, and says that he is glad he met him.

Usopp asks him why he is the “elder-respecting type,” and Franky retorts that he can be this way sometimes, not revealing Tom’s connection with him. Shortly afterward, the crew encounters a man who seems to be Bartholomew Kuma. Franky attempts to fight him with Franky Boxing, but “Kuma” knocks him backwards and Robin cushions his fall with a Spider Net. After fighting for a while, Zoro points out it was not the real Kuma, as it does not use his Devil Fruit. After the Pacifista injures himself with his own attack, Franky notes that he also was originally human and can thus be hurt. The combined efforts of Nami, Sanji, Zoro and Luffy seem to finish the cyborg off only for another clone to appear, accompanied by Sentomaru. He tries to hold the second Pacifista, despite wanting to run away. Franky uses all his cola for a single Coup De Vent to send it flying back away. Then the real Kuma appears. Franky is then teleported away along with the rest of the Straw Hats, one by one.

Straw Hat Separation Adventure Karakuri Island

Kuma sent Franky to the Future Country Baldimore on a winter island known as Karakuri Island. Upon his arrival, Franky met two local people—Kitton and his grandfather—and a cyborg dog named Taroimo. Some time later, Franky was chased by the cyborg animals and ended up finding Vegapunk’s abandoned laboratory.

Postwar Arc

After learning of the war and Luffy’s involvement in it, Franky was told by one of the locals about the story of Vegapunk and his lab. Franky teared up after hearing about Vegapunk’s struggle to make the island a better place. When Franky was told of a self-destruct switch, he ranted on about why Vegapunk would put such a thing in his own lab. He then broke into the lab to get an icebreaker-ship he needed to get off the island, but he was later chased by Marines and cyborg animals inside. The Marines were ordered to ensure that nothing in the lab got damaged, since everything in the lab is regarded as a world treasure.

Franky found some blueprints for different machines that Vegapunk had wanted to build, remarking how advanced the designs were. He then came across what appeared to be a pirate symbol and touched it, but it was the very self-destruct button he had been told not to press, causing a giant explosion of the lab. His blowing up the lab later became known around the world as the Nightmare of Baldimore. The explosion did not kill Franky, but, instead, blew off his skin. He read the article of Luffy praying at Marineford and understood what Luffy was doing and saying.

When the lab blew up, the explosion exposed the entrance to a second lab that Vegapunk had kept hidden. Franky went inside and started looking through different blueprints for various weapons. He then decided to live there, and put a tiger rug over his deformed face. He had a flashback to when he built the Thousand Sunny and when Luffy asked him to join his crew. He then decided to learn all he could about different weapons to make the Thousand Sunny an even better, more powerful ship, so Luffy could make it into “the ship of dreams”. The tiger rug caught fire when he got too close to a fireplace. He ran out of the lab on fire, frightening the Marines who were chasing him. This became known as the “Legend of the Sacred Burning Beast of Baldimore”. He apparently managed to escape the Marines sometime later and discarded the tiger rug, and worked in Vegapunk’s laboratory. The story continues two years later.

Being asked by Usopp how he could work with those huge arms, Franky revealed that his “carpentry” hands were just under the huge arms and hands he has. He also showed them that his hair could grow back instantly by pushing down on his nose for more than three seconds, and he quickly combed his hair back to its original style. Chopper and Usopp continued to fawn on him, actually begging to see the upgrades that Franky had done to his weapon systems, to which the cyborg politely declined, stating that it would be rude to display what he could do after two years to the rest of the crew when Monkey D. Luffy was not around to witness them as well. He was pleasantly surprised when he heard from Rayleigh that Luffy was already on the archipelago. Franky then informed Sanji through Den Den Mushi that the ship was heading to Grove 42. After the whole crew gathered at the ship, Franky dove down to the ship’s hull to remove the air sack that was keeping the Thousand Sunny afloat. While the Marines were held back by the Straw Hat Pirates’ new allies, the crew submerged and headed towards Fish-Man Island.

Fishman Island Arc

Undersea Voyage

After the Thousand Sunny submerged, Franky explained to the others about Kuma’s last mission and self-sacrifice. The Caribou Pirates then caught up with the Straw Hats and prepared for battle. Caribou quickly set foot on the Thousand Sunny, but before his crew could follow, the seacow Momoo fled in fear after seeing Nami, Sanji, and Luffy again, leaving Caribou behind. Caribou then begged Franky not to throw him out into the ocean. After the crew tied up Caribou, Franky assisted Nami in explaining the undersea currents.

When the crew reached the “underwater waterfall”, they encountered the Kraken. Franky calmly stated that the Kraken looked tasty. Even though the Monster Trio left the ship using Barefoot Coating to fight the Kraken, the sea monster aimed for the Thousand Sunny. Franky used his shoulder missiles to repel one of the Kraken’s tentacles. The Monster Trio soon defeated the Kraken, but because they were not wearing life-lines, they got separated from Franky and the rest of the Straw Hats as the ship went down the “underwater waterfall”.

After reaching 7000 meters under the surface, Franky used his Nipple Lights to illuminate the surrounding area and the crew found more sea monsters. While sailing through the Underworld of the Sea, Franky and the crew searched for Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji while avoiding the various sea creatures. When Franky found Caribou hiding in a barrel, he sealed the barrel with Caribou inside it. Franky deduced that Caribou took Sanji’s kick on purpose to hide his ability. Once the crew entered the deep-sea volcanic region, they saw a light, and Franky used his Nipple Lights as a Morse code.

The crew discovered that the light came from an angler fish. Before the angler fish could eat the Thousand Sunny, it was stopped by Wadatsumi. Franky and the crew then heard singing and encountered the Flying Dutchman and its captain, Vander Decken IX. Vander Decken then ordered Wadatsumi to knock down the Sunny, but the newly-tamed Kraken intervened and knocked out the giant fish-man. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji were then reunited with Franky and the other Straw Hats. When an underwater volcano startedd to erupt, the Kraken quickly pulled their ship and jumped down a trench. After going down the trench, the Straw Hats finally saw Fish-Man Island. They then encountered a gang of sea monsters led by Hammond, who gave the Straw Hats two choices: join the New Fish-Man Pirates or die. Nami told Franky to prepare to use Coup de Burst to charge into Fish-Man Island. Once Usopp finished with the refueling, Franky activated Coup de Burst and the ship flew through the bubble surrounding Fish-Man Island.

Meeting New Acquaintances On Fishman Island

After the ship passes through the bubble, it falls into a powerful current which separates the Straw Hats. Franky remains with Nami and Robin after entering Fish-Man Island. They go on separate ways to do different things. Franky decides to search for a relative of Tom’s. Franky is then seen in the Sea Forest with the Thousand Sunny.

Franky is having a conversation with Tom’s younger brother, Den. Den compliments on the ship (much to Franky’s delight) and agrees to coat it. When Franky asks Den about why he does not resemble Tom, Den explains to Franky about how fish-man and merman genetics work when there is inter-species breeding. Fish-Men and Merfolk still carry the genes of their ancestors, so the species is not determined only by the parents, but it can be one among all the species of the ancestors. Den then jokingly asks Franky if one of his ancestors was a robot.

When Franky notices someone sitting in front of a grave in the distance, Den points out that the person is Jinbe, explaining that Jinbe is waiting for someone in the forest since he cannot enter the island. Franky meets up with Robin, who then goes to the coral forest to search for something. Later, Luffy, Shirahoshi, Megalo, Hatchan, Chopper, and Sanji soon arrive at the Sea Forest. Luffy introduces Shirahoshi to Franky, who introduces Den to Luffy. Jinbe then explains about his connection to Arlong and the stories of Otohime and Fisher Tiger. After he finishes, Franky starts crying. When Hatchan begins explaining Hody’s plan, a visual Den Den Mushi appears and the group watches a visual broadcast by Hody Jones himself. Hody explains his plan of recreating the Ryugu Kingdom with him as the ruler, which includes executing King Neptune and making examples out of the Straw Hats. After Hody finishes, Luffy resolves to fight him. However, Jinbe tells him not to. Franky and Chopper then correctly guessed that it was because they are humans (Ironically, they are the least human of the crew).

Battle For Fishman Island

As Luffy and Jinbe try to settle their dispute on how to deal with Hody, Jinbe eventually comes up with a plan. After he, Sanji, and Chopper rescue Zoro, Usopp, Brook, and Pappag from Ryugu Palace, Franky and the Thousand Sunny (while in blimp mode) fly to Gyoncorde Plaza alongside Hoe. Franky fires the Gaon Cannon at the New Fish-Man Pirates. After Hoe retrieves Neptune and the princes, the Sunny lands. Franky and the rest of the Straw Hats prepare to fight against the New Fish-Man Pirates.

When Franky mentions a new weapon in the Soldier Dock system, Usopp, Nami, Chopper, and Pappag hop in. After Luffy initiates the battle, Franky prepares to activate it. Franky then reveals the new weapons. He rides out on the Kurosai FR-U IV, and introduces the Brachio Tank V piloted by Nami, Usopp, and Chopper. After Franky sees the Brachio Tank V fall into a hole created by Daruma, he falls in after them.

He then kicks Nami, Usopp, Chopper, and Pappag out of the tank and docks his bike with it, creating the Iron Pirate General Franky, adding that he realized Vegapunk’s dream through the use of Wapometal. He then fights the pirates with it. He uses the sword, albeit rather poorly and takes out the pirates with his own shoulder cannons. He then defeats more pirates by falling on them and crushing them under the weight of the robot. Franky searches for a strong enemy and punches Ikaros Much. After exchanging a few words, the two start battling each other. Countering Ikaros’ “Ikaros Wings” with a punch, he hits the Squid Ink Clone, and follows up with a fireball which Ikaros barely dodges. While Chopper is initially ecstatic about the General Franky’s flamethrower capabilities, Franky’s smoking mouth shows otherwise. After Luffy defeats Jones, Franky states he is going to end his fight in one shot. As Ikaros takes off his helmet to reveal his spearhead fin, Franky exits the Iron Pirate robot to charge and fire a laser beam from his arms, turning the fish-man into dried squid. After all the leaders of the New Fish-Man Pirates have been defeated, the Straw Hats look into the sky as Luffy tries to destroy Noah. When the Sea Kings appear and stop Noah from falling, saving the ship and the island at the same time, everyone on Fish-Man Island celebrates.

The After Battle Celebration And Departure

As the crew tries to leave the island quietly, they are intercepted by the palace guards who give them Neptune’s invitation to the banquet. At the banquet, Franky is seen eating and drinking with his friends and crewmates, enjoying himself. After the party dies down, he is seen standing around with the other Straw Hats talking about how all the treasure they are getting will make them into rich tycoon pirates. He is later shocked that Luffy challenged Big Mom. After preparing the ship, Franky and the rest of the Straw Hats bid farewell to Fish-Man Island and the citizens and royal family. As they leave, Franky uses Kuuigosu Wood Chips to float the ship upwards and the crew all set sails for the New World. On their way there, the crew decides to catch some sea monsters to celebrate their entering New World. As the crew gets caught in the White Storm, a group of whales stops them and help them enter the New World while Franky comments on the crashing sea of New World.

Dressrosa Saga

Punk Hazard Arc

Arriving At Punk Hazard

Soon after entering the New World, the crew spots an island surrounded by a sea of flames. When Usopp expresses concern that the Thousand Sunny will start to burn from the sea of fire, Franky states that the ship will not lose. The Straw Hats then receive a distress call from someone who seems to be in trouble and mentions something about a samurai. After Robin, Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp go to explore Punk Hazard, Franky is seen eating with Nami as she mentions the winter clouds on the other side of the island. While Usopp, Robin, Luffy, and Zoro fight a dragon, Franky and the Straw Hats remaining on the Thousand Sunny are knocked out by sleeping gas.

They, except for Brook, are then abducted by some unknown foes. Franky and the other captured Straw Hats later wake up in a cell and find parts of a samurai’s still-living head. After putting the pieces of the head back together, the group gets information from the samurai. Once the group decides to break out, Franky uses his Radical Beam to blast a hole in the wall, allowing the crew to escape. They run down through the halls of the complex and stumble upon a room filled with giant children.

The children are excited to see them (especially Franky’s robotic form), but Sanji just wants to escape the room before they are recaptured. While their pursuers come after them, the children beg the pirates to help them escape. Nami can not ignore their cries and decides to help them. Sanji, Franky, and Chopper then attack the men in the gas masks. Nami and Chopper run away with the children while Sanji and Franky hold the enemy back.

As Franky attacks with Weapons Left, their opponents realize that he was the one who destroyed the door. After defeating the masked men, Franky, Sanji, and the samurai’s head then meet up with Nami, Chopper, and the children and burst out of PH-006 and ran into the G-5 Marines, Smoker, Tashigi, and Law. To avoid combat, they immediately turn around and try to find another exit. As they are running away, Law uses his ability to rearrange the personalities of the Straw Hat Pirates, putting Franky in Chopper’s body and Nami in Franky’s body. The group then reunites with Zoro, Luffy, Robin, Brook, and Usopp at the back side of the Punk Hazard facility.

The Straw Hats then tie up Brownbeard and bring each other up to speed on the current situation. After interrogating Brownbeard, they learn about a man known as Caesar Clown. Kin’emon later leaves the group to find his torso and Sanji, Brook, and Zoro go out to search for him. Franky, trying to adapt to Chopper’s body, tests out the various forms that Chopper has. Robin, not impressed by his speaking, tells him not to talk while in Chopper’s body.

Before long, several of the giant children start to feel pain, saying that they need candy usually given to them in order to make the pain go away. After the Straw Hats learn that the children were being drugged and experimented on, the giant children start to go on a rampage, displaying great strength much to Franky’s shock, and forcing Usopp to put them to sleep. Luffy’s group then decides to help the children and find Caesar. The group ties up the giant children so that they cannot destroy anything else. Franky then says that they should also find a way to get back their normal bodies.

When Luffy says that they should just stay the way they were, Nami (in Franky’s body) snaps at their captain. Luffy, Usopp, Franky, and Robin then leave Chopper and Nami to watch the children while they head to Caesar’s lab. While they are gone, Luffy’s group hears an explosion coming from the hideout and quickly turns back. When they return, the Yeti Cool Brothers open fire on them and escape with Nami, who they think is Franky. Luffy and Franky decide to go after the brothers. Franky asks Chopper to give him some Rumble Balls. Chopper gives him one and advises him on how to use it. However, Franky immediately takes it, transforms into Monster Point, and goes on a rampage while chasing after Luffy. Luffy and Franky follow the giant footprints and fall into an ambush by Rock and Scotch. After Luffy deals some damage to Rock by deflecting some bullets back at him, Scotch fires a shot at a mountain top, causing a giant ice shard to start falling towards Luffy and Franky. Rock prepares to fire again, but Franky grabs the ice shard and knocks out Rock with it. Franky tries to attack Luffy again only to be knocked out by Luffy’s Elephant Gun.

Alliance With Law And Confrontation With Caesar Clown

After the Yeti Cool Brothers are defeated, Luffy, Franky, Nami, and Law return to the hideout. Law returns Franky to his body and Chopper to his body. Franky is happy to be back into his body but Chopper scolds both him and Luffy for causing damage to his body. The Straw Hats and Law then form a plan to capture Caesar while helping the children. Franky is later seen flying with Luffy and Robin towards Caesar’s lab.

After crashing through a Marine warship, he prepares with the others to capture Caesar Clown. During the skirmish with Caesar’s centaurs and the G-5 Marines, Franky blasts the doors open. Before they enter the facility, pieces of the Slime start falling from the sky and attack anyone near them. Caesar Clown soon reveals himself to both Luffy’s group and the G-5 Marines. Franky and Robin then watch Luffy’s battle with Caesar.

Franky is impressed by Luffy’s Haki and by his ability to touch Logia users. Franky is glad that Luffy manages to evade Caesar’s attacks and eventually subdue him. When Luffy suddenly faints, Franky wonders what happened to Luffy. Franky, Robin, Smoker, and Tashigi later fall into unconsciousness even without Caesar touching them. Franky is then seen locked in a cell along with the others.

While Clown is giving out his broadcast to the Underworld brokers about his experiment with his chemical mass destruction weapon, Franky and the other captives are just sitting passively. After Smiley ate what appears to be a giant piece of candy, it explodes and releases a poisonous cloud. The prisoners then witness the destructive effects of the gas as some of Caesar’s subordinates succumb to it. After explaining about his weapon of mass destruction, Caesar proceeds to move the prisoners outside of the facility to die. At the beginning of their escape, Law directed Franky to launch his Franky Fireball at the segregated battleship down below.

Setting the wood alight, the smoke raised up to the cage, which allowed them to discreetly take action. Law quickly revealed that he had replaced some of the seastone handcuffs with regular ones which allowed him to escape easily. Freeing Luffy and the others, Franky then mentions wanting to do something with the Sunny. Franky was then seen outside of the lab in his General Franky, with his armor protecting him from the gas. After Caesar was sent flying out of the lab and crashed into a tanker, Franky saw the arrival of Buffalo and Baby 5. Before they could retrieve Caesar, Franky shot them down. Buffalo and Baby 5 then engage Franky in battle and Baby 5 uses her Buki Buki no Mi abilities to turn into a missile and cause a huge explosion. Franky withstood the attack and continued the battle with Buffalo and Baby 5 who were unable to gain the upper hand. Baby 5 then turned into a sickle and Buffalo used it to pierce through the General Franky’s arm. Unfazed, Franky blew away his opponents with General Cannon. After he found Caesar lying nearby, he was greeted by the other Straw Hats, the G-5 Marines, and the children as they all exited the lab through a rail car.

Aftermath

After the defeat of Buffalo and Baby 5 and the capture of Caesar Clown, everyone took a moment to rest and relax and they all had a feast together. After the party ended, the Straw Hats left with Law, Kin’emon, and Momonosuke as Tashigi and her men took the children away from Punk Hazard. While sailing to their next destination, Dressrosa, Franky explained to Brook about how he was able to recover the Mini Merry II via a hidden water way to the research facility. A little while later, Luffy started to explain that they had formed an alliance with the Heart Pirates to take down one of the Four Emperors. Law proceeded to explain about Donquixote Doflamingo’s connection to the underworld and the plan to decimate Kaidou’s forces. The next morning, everyone read the news about Doflamingo’s resignation from the Seven Warlords of the Sea. They had also seen that the paper explained about Luffy and Law’s alliance and the alliance of Eustass Kid, Basil Hawkins, and Scratchmen Apoo.

Dressrosa Arc

The Next Objective

After Law contacted Doflamingo to inform him that they will bring Caesar to Green Bit, Franky told Law that he will help find the SMILE Factory and destroy it. Franky then had a meal with the rest of the crew while Kin’emon and Momonosuke told them the story about how they were shipwrecked and drifted to Dressrosa, how Momonosuke was separated from his father, and how Kanjuro was captured. The Thousand Sunny later approached Dressrosa. After arriving at Dressrosa, the group split up into three teams. Franky went with Kin’emon, Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro to destroy the SAD factory and save Kanjuro.

After seeing everything Dressrosa is famous for (food, flowers, beautiful women, and living toys), the group put on disguises and went to a restaurant to get something to eat. There they found some thugs taking advantage of a blind man while taking away his money in roulette. After Luffy called the thugs’ bluff, they witnessed the blind man used some gravity-like ability on the thugs, creating a huge crater in the floor of the restaurant. The man then left the restaurant without saying who he was. After one of Zoro’s swords is stolen, he chased after the thief with Sanji and Kin’emon in tow.

Luffy attempted to follow them for fun, but was stopped by Franky. Instead, they interrogated one of the thugs beaten by the blind man, who happened to be a subordinate of Doflamingo, for the location of the SMILEs factory. The thug claimed that he did not know anything about it. He then said that most of Doflamingo’s crewmembers were at the Corrida Colosseum where there was a tournament being held for a big prize. The thug informed them that the prize is Ace’s former Devil Fruit.

Luffy decided to compete for the fruit, not wanting just anyone to eat it. He offered the fruit to Franky, but he declined, wanting to keep his ability to swim. Even though the objectives were to find the factory and Kanjuro, Franky allowed Luffy the chance to fight for the Mera Mera no Mi. Luffy and Franky later arrived at Corrida Colosseum where they met a one-legged toy soldier called Thunder Soldier. While Franky told Luffy that he could go full out in the tournament, it was best to keep his identity secret.

He nearly gave himself away when he almost signed his own name, but thanks to Franky stopping him, he ended up signing in as “Lucy”. Franky was among the audience when he saw the winner of Block A, Jesus Burgess. Franky became worried that the competition would not be easy for Luffy as he originally thought. When Franky was about to leave to continue with his mission, Thunder Soldier urged Franky to take him along. Franky refused to do, thinking that he would just get in the way. He said out loud that he would be getting information by beating one of Doflamingo’s high-ranking subordinates, drawing unwanted attention from the audience. The toy soldier then told Franky that speaking about Doflamingo’s crew like that is forbidden and that they should talk somewhere else. Later, in the corridors of the Corrida Colosseum, the toy soldier revealed that he was also planning to destroy the factory, and that he and his comrades have been preparing for that. Franky then asked him once more where the factory was so that he could blow it up. However, the toy insisted that they should first rescue the workers inside this factory. He then revealed that if their plan was to work, then it would ultimately lead to the destruction of Dressrosa. Thunder Soldier then told Franky that if he had courage to fight Doflamingo, he would tell him everything about Dressrosa and its past.

Alliance With Thunder Soldier

Franky and the toy soldier then left the colosseum and made their way to the Flower Field. While riding on Franky’s shoulder, Rebecca called out to the toy soldier. After Rebecca expressed her determination to win the tournament and her wish to live together with him, he and Franky continued on towards their destination. Franky contacted Sanji along the way and told him to go to the Flower Field as well. The toy soldier later explained to Franky about the two laws that Doflamingo enacted after becoming king ten years ago.

Franky then asked him about how he and the other living toys came to be. Thunder Soldier revealed that the living toys were in fact once humans who had been turned into toys by a Devil Fruit user who came to Dressrosa alongside Doflamingo and the human citizens had forgotten what the toys originally were. Before Franky could ask any more questions, they saw the Flower Hill and the toy soldier said that they would talk more there. Franky was then brought to the Riku Royal Army headquarters hidden beneath the Flower Field, where he met the dwarf army acquainted with the Thunder Soldier. After learning that the dwarves were the “fairies” mentioned by the citizens of Dressrosa, he reunited with Zoro.

Once Usopp, Robin, and the dwarves from Green Bit gathered at the headquarters, Franky listened to Thunder Soldier’s speech about overthrowing Doflamingo. After Sanji and Nami’s group escaped Green Bit with Caesar and the Thousand Sunny, Sanji contacted Franky and Usopp and told them to take care of Robin. Afterwards, Franky listened to Gancho as he explained more about the history of the dwarves centuries ago including their enslavement by the Donquixote Family and their liberation by the Riku Family after the Void Century. Once Gancho finished with his story, Thunder Soldier explained about an incident ten years ago which caused the former Riku King to lose all trust from the citizens before revealing himself to be Rebecca’s father. After this revelation, Franky, Usopp, and Robin then listened to Thunder Soldier as he explained the story of Dressrosa in detail.

After Thunder Soldier finished explaining the story behind Doflamingo’s past takeover of the kingdom, Franky burst into tears after hearing the tragedy. Usopp assumed that Doldo was charged for the crimes he supposedly committed and put to death. Thunder Soldier explained otherwise, saying that Doldo still lived because his daughter, Viola, promised to aid the Donquixote Pirates on the condition that the king was spared. Thunder Soldier described how the citizens that were turned into toys were forgotten by their families and loved ones, including those who had also become toys. However, they still remembered their hatred for Doflamingo and Thunder Soldier planned to use that fact to recruit them for the rebellion.

Franky was all up for it, but Usopp was less optimistic. He quietly told Franky that they should just destroy the factory and leave the country rather than picking a fight with Doflamingo. Much to Usopp’s dismay, Robin was also willing to join the fight. Thunder Soldier then expressed his despair at Doflamingo’s fake resignation. As he went into detail about how at first they were overjoyed at his “resignation”, he mentioned that this being false information was what drove him and the dwarves to plan a rebellion.

Franky, Usopp, and Robin looked on in shock as they realized they were the catalyst of the imminent rebellion. When Zoro finally made contact with Luffy at the Corrida Colosseum, Franky, Usopp, and Robin engage in a conference call with both Sanji and Luffy’s group. Franky explained the situation with the dwarves and then pleaded with Luffy to allow him to help them. To Franky’s joy, Luffy gave his approval. During the skirmish at Corrida Colosseum, Kin’emon informed everyone that Law was defeated in battle by Doflamingo.

Everyone was then shocked to hear that an Admiral was present in Dressrosa and that the Sunny was under attack by the Big Mom Pirates, who were after Caesar Clown. Franky told Sanji not to lead the Big Mom Pirates closer to Dressrosa or else the Thunder Soldier’s plans would be ruined. As Sanji’s group continued on to Zo and Luffy’s group decided to take the fight to Doflamingo, Franky’s group was left in charge of destroying the SMILE factory. Thunder Soldier then explained to Franky, Usopp, and Robin the plans for the upcoming assault, which he named Dressrosa Operation SOP As the three Straw Hats wondered what S.O.P. means, the soldier informed them about an underground world where the factory and trade port are located and they are going to infiltrate through an underground tunnel. Other than destroying the factory and the port, the key to the operation’s success is taking out Sugar, the Devil Fruit user who turned humans into toys. The Straw Hats learned that by defeating Sugar, her powers will be undone. Franky became pumped up for the operation.

Dressrosa Operation Sop

Since Franky was too big to fit in the secret tunnel, he decided to enter the underground world through the Toys House. Even though he was warned that the entrances to the Toys House would be heavily guarded, Franky stated that he would just go wild and fight his way in. He left the Flower Field and later arrived at the Toys House’s east entrance and encountered Senor Pink. Franky made the first strike, using Coup de Vent to deal large-scale damage to the building and send many of Doflamingo’s men flying. Senor Pink then grabbed Franky from behind by “swimming” through the ground and performed a sneak attack. Franky managed to hit Senor Pink with his rocket launcher, but he also had to fight against Machvise. After dodging an attack by Machvise, Franky was surprised to see Marines led by Bastille surrounding the Toys House and himself. Franky decided to remain at the Toys House to battle the Marines, rather than risk them following him to the underground world and jeopardizing Thunder Soldier’s plans. He also placed his faith in Usopp. After a hard struggle, and Dellinger joining the fight, Franky was eventually overwhelmed. While he lay on the ground badly bruised and bloodied, he placed his hopes in Usopp once more in his thoughts. When the primary objective of Operation SOP was successfully completed, Franky gave off a smile.

The Birdcage

When Doflamingo trapped Dressrosa in his Torikago, he forced everyone imprisoned into a survival game and put a price on the heads of twelve certain people. Franky was included in Doflamingo’s hit list, with a bounty of one star (100 million). During that time, Franky escaped the Toys House thanks to the cola he reserved for destroying the factory. After seeing the SMILE factory on the surface, Franky ran towards it, preparing to destroy it. After reaching the factory, Franky prepared to use Radical Beam.

Before he launched his attack, Senor Pink swam up to him and performed a suplex, preventing him from destroying the factory. Senor Pink then stated his intent to settle the score. Inhel and his group later arrived at the factory and told Franky that they have a plan to open the factory. Franky later distracted Pink by claiming that there was an old lady in need of help. After the doors to the SMILE factory were unlocked from the inside, Franky and his dwarf group entered and faced off against the factory’s boss, Kyuin.

After she recognized him as one of the people on Doflamingo’s hit list, Franky hugged her in a strange manner. When Senor Pink charged in, Franky performed a suplex and smashed Kyuin’s head against Pink. Kyuin then flew into a rage, but Franky shut her up kissing her, resulting in her acting in a more feminine manner. Franky then continued his battle with Senor Pink. As they continued their “fight”, both Franky and Senor Pink moved in a way that resembled synchronized swimming, while the girls and dwarves cheered around them.

Franky then landed a punch on Pink. Once he saw that Pink took the hit to protect a kitten, he became touched. Later, after both he and Pink took 30 of each other’s attacks without bothering to dodge, Franky explained to the watching dwarves that this is his “Strong Way” before promising that he would not let them become slaves again. Upon hearing this, Senor Pink decided to challenge Franky with his strongest attack and declared that he would allow Franky to defeat him if the latter can survive it. Pink then grabbed Franky and swam up the side of a tower.

As he and Franky were airborne, Senor Pink commented on the sky and someone named “Russian”, confusing Franky, before using a suplex to smash Franky into the ground. However, Franky endured the attack and began pummeling Senor Pink with Franky Iron Boxing. After knocking Senor Pink unconscious, Franky wiped the tears from his face and asked Pink to tell him the story of Russian after this is over. With Senor Pink out of the way, Franky told the dwarves to tear down the SMILE factory. As the dwarves charged, Franky collapsed from his injuries.

After the destruction of the SMILE factory, Franky was then carried outside. To his confusion, he noticed that all the dwarves were suddenly looking towards the city in unison. He then told them to stop staring and run away from the shrinking Torikago. As the Torikago shrank, Franky noted that the SMILE factory cannot be cut by the Torikago since it is made out of Seastone. As Zoro, Kin’emon, and Kanjuro passed by him, Zoro informed Franky that he planned to buy time by stopping the Torikago, and Franky got an idea. Since the factory could not be cut, Franky and the dwarves decided to use it to push the Torikago back. They kept pushing until Luffy finally defeated Doflamingo. With the Torikago gone, Franky and the dwarves celebrated as Luffy’s victory was announced to Dressrosa.

After Doflamingos Defeat

Franky and his group were resting and recovering in Kyros’ old house. Franky inquired about Sabo’s relationship with Luffy and heard his story. After Sabo gave Zoro a Vivre Card for Luffy, Franky bid Sabo farewell. Three days after Doflamingo’s defeat, Franky and the other Straw Hats continued with their recovery. They were eating a meal as they heard the rumor about Rebecca’s father.

Bartolomeo then entered the house and informed them that the Marines were mobilized to pursue the Straw Hats. He also explained that there was an escape route planned for them. When the Marines were about to storm Kyros’ house, Franky and the others fled. After Luffy separated from the group to take care of unfinished business, Franky’s group went to the eastern port. While waiting for Luffy, they saw Issho approaching.

When Issho prepared to attack them with all the rubble from Dressrosa, the Straw Hats and their allies quickly fled to the escape ship. At that moment, Luffy arrived and attacked Issho. During the clash, Issho used his gravity ability to blow away Luffy, who was then caught by Hajrudin. The Straw Hats and their allies quickly fled across a bridge leading to a gigantic ship in the distance. Issho prepared to drop the rubble on them but was obstructed by the Dressrosa citizens who were pretending to chase after the pirates. They eventually reached Orlumbus’ flagship, the Yonta Maria. The following then pledged their allegiance to the Straw Hats: Cavendish of the Beautiful Pirates (including Suleiman), Bartolomeo of the Barto Club, Sai of the Happo Navy, Ideo of the XXX Gym Martial Arts Alliance (including Blue Gilly, Abdullah, and Jeet), Leo of the Tontatta Tribe, Hajrudin of the Giant Warrior Pirates, and Orlumbus of the Yonta Maria Grand Fleet. After the Straw Hat Grand Fleet was formed, the Straw Hats and company held a feast to celebrate their victory over Doflamingo. After the feast, each of the leading allies received Luffy’s Vivre Card and parted ways. Bartolomeo then brought the Straw Hats, the samurais, and Law to his ship, the Going Luffy-senpai. After Zoro noticed the Straw Hats’ increase in bounty from a newspaper, Bartolomeo proudly showed Luffy’s group their new wanted posters. Franky expressed his frustration that Usopp received a higher bounty than him.

Zou Arc

Encounter With The Mink Tribe

During a hail storm, Franky was shocked to learn that the Barto Club did not have a navigator, lacked experience in sailing, and usually called a grandmother who would give them useless advice. Therefore, Franky, the other Straw Hats, the samurais, and Law needed to protect the ship. After one week of traversing through the dangers of the New World, the ship finally arrived at Zou. After finding the Thousand Sunny, the Barto Club bid Luffy’s group farewell. Proceeding to search for Sanji’s group, they climbed the giant elephant’s left hind leg with a dragon that Kanjuro conjured.

After the samurais explained that they were also searching for their ninja comrade, Raizo, the group saw Bariete dropping towards them. The pirates all ducked out of the way, but the monkey mink hit Kin’emon and Kanjuro, causing them to fall off the dragon. Despite being separated from the group, the samurais assured the Straw Hats that they were alright and would catch up to them eventually. The rest of the group considered turning back for them, but after they saw the dragon struggling to climb, they decided to continue towards the top. Once they reached the top, the dragon turned back into a drawing, much to Franky’s sadness.

Shortly after, they entered a village and Luffy ran ahead of the group. While exploring the village, they saw signs of a recent attack before encountering Carrot and Wanda. Right after a brief scuffle between Carrot and Zoro, Wanda and Carrot proceeded to leave in a hurry to deal with an intruder at the Whale’s Forest. Before leaving, Wanda explained to Franky’s group about where to find a “corpse” of their comrade. Franky and the others thought that Wanda was saying the other Straw Hat members died, but they did not believe that to be true and continued exploring the island.

As they explored the Mink Tribe’s civilization, they found it completely deserted with more signs of a recent battle. During their exploration at Kurau City, the group experienced an eruption rain and fled to higher ground. Once the rain passed, they surmised that it was a daily occurrence based on how the city was built. Right after Usopp spotted Luffy with Carrot and Wanda, Law teleported the group close to their location. Wanda then led them into Right Belly Fortress, where they reunited with Nami and Chopper.

While having a feast with the Mink Tribe, Franky and the group were reunited with Brook, who explained that Momonosuke was safe but refused to leave his room. He also warned the group not to mention samurai or the Wano Country. Before he could explain the reason, he was interrupted by canine minks. Franky then listened to Nami and Chopper’s story about how they had escaped the Big Mom Pirates before listening to Wanda’s story about how Nami’s group had saved the Mink Tribe. After hearing that Duke Inuarashi had awakened from his coma and wanted to meet Zou’s benefactors, Franky and his group went to meet him.

On the way, Wanda began to explain to them about Jack and the Beasts Pirates’s attack on Zou in more detail. During her explanation, Wanda revealed that Jack had been searching for Raizo. After Wanda finished with her recollection, Brook explained to his crew the reason why they should not mention samurai or the Wano Country. Upon arriving at the duke’s home, they were introduced to Shishilian, who expressed his gratitude to the crew. After entering the duke’s home, they learned that Jack had used one of Caesar’s gas weapons against the Mink Tribe.

During the conversation, the pirates were surprised by the minks’ sudden sleep, so Wanda explained the agreement between Inuarashi and Nekomamushi. After Wanda recalled the devastation caused by Jack and the Mink Tribe’s salvation, the Straw Hats decided to visit Nekomamushi and the Guardians. They then traveled to the Whale Forest with Wanda and Carrot. Franky then heard about the circumstances concerning Sanji’s departure from Zou. Luffy decided to find Sanji, but his crew was against confronting Big Mom without a plan. Franky and the group then arrived at the Whale Forest. As Nekomamushi partied with Luffy and his group, Robin, Franky, and Brook stood guard outside Zou’s gates, planning to stop Kin’emon and Kanjuro from entering. However, by the time the samurai arrived the next morning, Robin, Franky, and Brook already fell asleep, and went unnoticed by those they planned to meet as Kanjuro’s living art overshadowed them.

Revelations And A New Alliance

When they woke up, the trio realized that Kin’emon and Kanjuro had passed them and quickly ran back to the Mokomo Dukedom, fearing what would happen if the Mink Tribe met the samurais. The Straw Hats managed to intercept Kin’emon, Kanjuro, and Momonosuke just as they arrived at Kurau City and tried desperately to keep them hidden. However, as Nekomamushi and Inuarashi were fighting, Kin’emon and Kanjuro revealed themselves. Contrary to what the Straw Hats expected, the Mink Tribe welcomed the samurais and revealed that Raizo was safe. The Straw Hats were stunned to learn that the minks knew about Raizo all along and went to great lengths to keep him hidden despite the abuse they suffered.

The Straw Hats were further shocked when Kin’emon revealed that Momonosuke was not his son, but rather the heir to the daimyo of Kuri. Inuarashi and Nekomamushi then took the Straw Hats, Law, and the samurais to Raizo’s location in a secret area inside the whale-shaped tree. As they journeyed there, Franky and the male pirates began fantasizing on what Raizo would be, imagining him to be a stereotypical ninja. When they saw Raizo, they were shocked at his ugly appearance, but still begged him to perform tricks. Raizo inquired as to why pirates were so obsessed with him, but Franky replied that all men are obsessed with ninja.

Raizo initially refused to perform tricks, but relented after the Straw Hats began sulking. They were then awestruck as Raizo performed his ninja arts. When Robin deciphered the red poneglyph hidden in the Whale Tree, Inuarashi then explained to the Straw Hats about the four Road Poneglyphs and they listened in anticipation as he revealed how they could lead to Laugh Tale. Nekomamushi also revealed that Kaidou and Big Mom each possessed one Road Poneglyph. The Straw Hats were then surprised when Nekomamushi revealed that Momonosuke’s ancestors created the poneglyphs.

However, the samurais explained that Momonosuke never inherited the knowledge of the poneglyphs due to the execution of Kouzuki Oden at the hands of Kaidou and Shogun Kurozumi Orochi. The Straw Hats also learned that Oden was part of Roger’s crew and had been on Laugh Tale with him, as well as the Beasts Pirates’ objective in obtaining the secret that Oden knew. Right after Luffy agreed to form an alliance with the samurais and the Mink Tribe, the group left the secret room. Afterwards, Franky and the others learned that Inuarashi and Nekomamushi traveled with Oden and had been on the ships of both Whitebeard and Gol D. Roger.

The alliance decided to split up to accomplish different tasks and meet up again at Wano. However, before they could start their operation, they felt Zou shaking and heard Zunesha crying. As everything shook around them, they witnessed Luffy and Momonosuke’s ability to hear Zunesha’s voice. They then heard from Momonosuke that Jack had returned to Zou and started attacking Zunesha. On Momonosuke’s command, Zunesha sank Jack’s fleet with one blow. With the threat of Jack ended, everyone became calm again. While the Sanji Retrieval Team departed from Zou, Franky revealed that he planned to build new weapons to fight Kaidou. Everyone, except for the Straw Hat members left behind, were shocked when Luffy jumped off Zunesha with his party.

Wano Country Saga

Infiltration In Wano Country

Franky and his group later infiltrated Wano. While residing in Oden Castle in Kuri, he was told by Kin’emon to avoid drawing attention until the alliance was ready to strike. While incognito, Franky worked as a carpenter under Minatomo and his task was to gather the blueprints of Kaidou’s residence. Franky later read the news of Luffy’s fight with Kaidou and was greatly shocked. After Sanji opened up a soba stand in the Flower Capital, Franky, Usopp, and Robin visited him and ate soba noodles together.

Later, some thugs from the Kyoshiro Family known as Kaku, Kuni, and Suke went up to him and provoked him. After Sanji kicked Kuni into the ground, Franky grabbed Suke and leaped into the air with him before suplexing him into the ground, defeating him. Shortly afterwards, the group got acquainted with a girl named Toko, a kamuro for the courtesan Komurasaki. As she left, she informed them that the courtesan would be passing by soon. The old woman that Robin was training under suddenly appeared and told the group more about the courtesan. As the courtesan was passing through the Flower Capital, Franky, Usopp, and Sanji were there to watch. Afterwards, Franky returned to Minatomo to discuss about the blueprints of Kaidou’s fortress. Minatomo then revealed that he sold the blueprints to a pawn shop ten years ago. Furious, Franky lashed out at Minatomo and got fired from his job. The cyborg then ran into Kanjuro and informed him of the bad news concerning the blueprints. Franky then visited the pawn shop and every person who had the blueprints until the lead he was left with was that the blueprints were somewhere in Kuri. Franky contacted Kin’emon and informed him of the situation before Kin’emon asked him to help out with other missions in the capital.

Chaos And Complications

When X Drake and Page One arrived at the Flower Capital to avenge the Kyoshiro Family, Franky, Sanji, Usopp, and Law fled from the Beasts Pirates to avoid discovery. However, with Page One rampaging in search of Sanji, the chef went to confront the Tobiroppo. When Sanji activated his Raid Suit, Franky and Usopp marveled at the transformation and Law explained about the suit’s capabilities to them. As the fight between Sanji and Page One continued, Franky, Usopp, and Law fled to Ebisu Town. After the scuffle in the Flower Capital, Franky, Usopp, Law, and Sanji hid in Ebisu Town.

While discussing the current situation in Wano Country, Franky and Usopp got annoyed with Sanji’s sudden interest in going to a bath house. Franky, Law, and Usopp later met a man named Tonoyasu. After hearing that they were friends of Zoro, Tonoyasu invited them to his house and informed them that they just missed Zoro. The group then noticed that Sanji was no longer with them. Sometime later, Sanji returned from his trip to a bathhouse with Nami, Robin, and Shinobu.

After Nami punished Sanji for the bathhouse experience, Franky was amazed at how badly Nami beat Sanji’s face. Right after Tonoyasu spoke with Kanjuro and Shinobu, Franky, Sanji, and Robin were baffled when they said that they did not know who Tonoyasu was. When news of Tonoyasu’s capture was revealed, Franky and his group gathered to see him being shown on a broadcast. They rushed to Rasetsu Town but only arrived after Tonoyasu was shot to death. Franky then listened to Shinobu’s explanation of the SMILE fruits and how the people of Ebisu Town were robbed of their ability to express any emotion other than smiling. He was then alarmed to see Toko putting herself in harm’s way by appearing at the execution site. After Zoro and Sanji started a commotion by protecting Toko from Shogun Kurozumi Orochi, Franky joined in the conflict and blocked bullets fired by Orochi’s soldiers. He then grabbed Yasuie’s body as fought off the shogun’s forces. Franky’s group managed to escape and returned to Ebisu Town. Franky and Nami then parted ways with Kanjuro. Franky and Usopp later joined the ship maintenance squad at Itachi Port. As the day of the Fire Festival drew closer, Franky and his group worked hard on repairing the ships.

Raid On Onigashima

Two days before the raid on Onigashima, Franky and Usopp headed for Amigasa Village to meet up with the other Straw Hats. After the Beasts Pirates attempted to bomb the Thousand Sunny on the night prior to the Fire Festival, Franky and Usopp worked to repair the ship. On the day of the Fire Festival, the Straw Hats sailed to Tokage Port on the Thousand Sunny to join the Scabbards and enter the battle with the Beasts Pirates. While Kanjuro fled to Onigashima with Momonosuke in tow, the Straw Hats learned that Kanjuro was a spy working for Orochi. As the alliance was attacked by a Beasts Pirates ship with long ranged cannons, the Straw Hats were overjoyed to see Jinbe arriving and joining the battle.

With Jinbe officially part of the crew, the Straw Hats proceeded to take over the torii in front of Onigashima. The Straw Hats then arrived at Onigashima with the rebels. After disembarking, the Straw Hats received Beasts Pirates disguises from Kin’emon. As they made their way into Kaidou’s stronghold, Franky drove the Kurosai FR-U IV with Brook sitting behind him. Later, the two showed up on the Live Stage just after Momonosuke had been freed, and Franky ran over Big Mom’s face using the back wheel of the Kurosai FR-U IV.

Once Big Mom got up, Franky aimed his Radical Beam at her, but he then noticed Jaki, one of the Numbers, holding the Brachio Tank V with Usopp and Chopper inside. Thus, Franky fired his laser beam at the Number, freeing the tank. Before Big Mom could attack Franky from behind, both Robin and Jinbe intervened and managed to get Big Mom off the stage. Once Usopp and Chopper recovered, Franky then immediately docked both vehicles and formed General Franky and then assembled with the rest of the Straw Hat crew on the Live Stage. Drake entered the battle and after defeating Juki, he requested to fight alongside Luffy.

Franky refused to trust him because he seemingly switched sides so easily. However, when Hatcha sobered up, Jinbe told Franky to lure him away. The cyborg then used General Franky as bait to draw him outside. Hatcha chased Franky to the Right-Brain Tower, where Yamato, Momonosuke, and Shinobu were confronted by Sasaki’s Armored Division. Franky dodged an attack from Hatcha, which created a giant hole in the floor.

As Yamato escaped down the hole with Momonosuke and Shinobu, Franky was surprised when Yamato knocked out Hatcha with a long-ranged attack. After attacking Sasaki’s men with General Launcher, Franky then faced against Sasaki in his full dinosaur form. Later on, Franky and Sasaki were locked in fierce combat. As Franky shot at Sasaki with his General Left, the latter (still in his full Beast Form) remained unfazed as he again charged into the General Franky. Franky managed to stop the charge by having his robot grab hold of Sasaki’s nasal horn and then shoulder-throwing the dinosaur into the wall behind them, though Sasaki quickly regained his balance.

As he prepared yet another charge at Franky, Sasaki had his Armored Division restrain the General Franky. However, as Sasaki began rushing toward them, he was surprised when Franky was saved by the suddenly-appearing Nami and Usopp, who managed to brainwash the Gifters into becoming their allies thanks to Tama’s dangos. Franky thus narrowly avoided Sasaki’s charge, with the also-arriving Ulti and Page One clarifying the Gifters’ betrayal. Usopp also fed Tama’s dangos to Sasaki’s subordinates, making them betray Sasaki as well. While Sasaki was distracted by this seeming treachery, Franky took the chance to surprise-attack him with his “Franken” sword, slashing Sasaki in his belly using Shori no V-Flash.

Later, Franky had no choice but to run while fighting due to the disadvantage in numbers. However, after Tama activated her ability, Franky gained new allies in the Gifters. This allowed him to fight Sasaki one-on-one, where they both landed powerful blows on each other. Getting irritated on each other’s toughness, Sasaki entered his hybrid form while also activating his Karakuri Rasento, before rotating his frill which allowed him to hover. He then attacked his tamed subordinates with Heliceratops, before attacking Franky with the same move.

Though Franky managed to deflect the attack, Sasaki then prepared himself to charge at the mecha while spinning his frill for extra propulsion, but accidentally spun it in the wrong direction causing him to move backwards instead. The embarrassed Tobiroppo clumsily attempted to claim he did it on purpose to acquire runway space, though Franky called him out on this. Sasaki then charged at Franky with Tamaceratops, which the Franky Shogun attempted to counter with General Shield, though the collision ended up accidentally launching the mecha’s shoulder-mounted rockets point black into the dinosaur man’s face. Franky used this opportunity to perform a General Suplex, planting Sasaki head-first into the floor and attempted to follow it up with a Shori no V-Flash at Sasaki’s unprotected and heavily bleeding belly. However, the triceratops used his rotating frill to escape skywards.

They then engaged in a swordfight, which proved to be Franky’s weakness, as his Franken was soon snapped, forcing Franky to retreat as he prepared a General Cannon. Sasaki then charged at Franky with another Tamaceratops, but Franky managed to fire his cannon in time, sending Sasaki flying. However, this was still not enough to take the Tobiroppo down, who performed an aerial kamikaze attack, Magnumceratops, which successfully broke the Franky Shogun. Thankfully, Franky had already evacuated from the mecha, and ended the battle by launching a Franky Radical Beam directly at Sasaki’s unprotected stomach. He was later contacted by Nami who asked him if he had an update status on Luffy, to which Franky replied he heard nothing new since Momonosuke’s previous speech, reassuring that everything is fine unless anything new is announced.

He, with the help of Bepo, Shachi and Penguin, blocked the Beasts Pirates reinforcements attempting to rush onto the Performance Floor. When Luffy inadvertently was able to transmit a message via a Mary on the roof, Franky was delighted to hear Luffy once again being determined to win against Kaidou. Franky later caught Zoro, who was sent flying out of the Performance Floor by King, and offered his help, which Zoro denied. King then flew down the hallway and knocked Zoro out of the castle. After Zoro defeated King, Franky went searching for his crewmate. Franky found Zoro dying and falling from the island so grabbed him with his extensible arm. Franky then went to look for Chopper so he could treat Zoro. When Onigashima was flooded by Raizo’s scroll to put out the fires, Franky warned everyone around him not to get swept away. After the Raid ended, Franky ran towards Chopper and asked him to treat Zoro’s injuries. When the rest of the Beast Pirates refused to accept Kaido’s defeat and wanted to continue fighting, Franky became irritated and almost continued fighting until Brook stopped him. Later, Franky and the rest of the Straw Hats meet Yamato, who wanted to join them, which surprised the crew.

A New Dawn In Wano Country

A week later, At Tokage Port, Franky, Usopp, and Minatomo relaxed after fixing up the Thousand Sunny, Victoria Punk, Polar Tang, and General Franky. Later at night, Franky was enjoying the festival alongside the citizens and the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance.

Final Saga

Egghead Arc

Once the Sunny landed at the bottom of Wano’s waterfall and the Straw Hats recovered, Luffy was punished by Nami for endangering everyone’s lives, and Jinbe told her to go easy on him since everyone was okay, only for her to yell at him and scaring him to the point of thinking she has Supreme King Haki. Franky, similar to Jinbe, is okay with what happened, but this is because the only damage done to the ship was a broken yard on the mast, which he easily fixed. While Robin was reading the newspaper which also contained all of the crew’s new bounties, she read it out loud for everybody present, as well as the news about Sabo and the recent events happening at the Levely, namely Sabo being accused of murdering Nefertari Cobra. While she did so, Franky grew heavily upset by the fact that his new wanted picture is now the bow of the Thousand Sunny, which does not even resemble him. When Luffy then told his crew about his dream once he becomes the Pirate King, it left the whole crew in shock, with Franky laughing with utter joy from hearing it.

After hearing this, Franky declares they are off to Laugh Tale, but Robin reminds him that they need one more Road Poneglyph, and even then, no one has seen it in years. Days later, the Thousand Sunny entered a turbulent and cold region of the sea and came across a giant warm eddy. Nami directed Jinbe to take the ship away to avoid getting sucked it, but Luffy and Sanji spotted and heard Bonney trapped inside it. After Zoro cut open the eddy, the wind carried Chopper and Luffy off the ship. At the same time, the Mecha-Shark attacked the ship and ended up capsizing it.

While Jinbe swam off to save Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney, the ship and rest of the crew were saved by Lilith and Vegaforce-01. As the robot lifted them out of the water, Lilith explained the shark’s purpose and malfunction and introduced herself. Lilith demanded the pirates’ valuables as the crew was surprised as the other Sea Beast Weapons surfaced. However, the attack was called off by Shaka, who ordered Lilith to bring the ship to Egghead. Once they reached the island’s Labophase, Nami, Robin, Usopp, Sanji, and Franky disembarked, while Zoro and Brook remained behind to guard the ship.

Lilith had the Straw Hats change outfits and don DOM shoes before entering the lab. As they travelled, Franky asked asks Lilith how everything is powered, to which she says it runs on fire. Franky says that that will run through many resources, which is why Lilith says she is always on the lookout for new sources, and stated she would also make new sources as well, which impressed Franky. As they continued traveling through the lab, all five of them get their attention turned to an unexpected sight as they see a child resembling Jinbe. The group start hypothesizing what he could possibly be, but Franky ends up correctly deducing that they were facing a Pacifista.

As the group came under attack Nami began to move against the seraphim. Unfortunately, she couldn’t bring herself to fight back since the Seraphim looks like a child, prompting S-Shark to make the first move and dive into the ground, similar to Senor Pink’s Sui Sui no Mi powers, which Franky remembered. As Sanji struck back to protect Nami, the others unleashed their own attacks against the seraphim and began to counterattack, with Franky firing his Radical Beam, which impressed Lilith and the other Vegapunks secreting watching as an experiment. However, Shaka ordered S-Shark to stop, ending the other Satellites’ experiment, and also activated the magnetic locks of the pirates’ DOM shoes, shackling their feet to the floor. After introducing himself, Shaka began explaining the futuristic yet ancient technology of the island, as well as the events of the Void Century and the World Governments’ efforts to erase any record of it and anyone who learned about it, which worried everyone.

He also related how the Ohara Incident inspired Monkey D. Dragon to found the Revolutionary Army. After telling them all that he could, Shaka forced the pirates to follow him to a monitoring room, where they watched Vegapunk talk to Luffy down in the Fabiriophase’s scrapyard. Franky and the others were happy to see the others were safe but did not recognize Bonney. Pythagoras then ran in, alerting them to the arrival of CP0.

Not trusting the agents, Shaka ordered Pythagoras to refuse the agents entry, only for them to invade anyways. As they watched in the lab as Luffy began fighting Lucci, Vegapunk rushed into the room, hoping to see Luffy’s white transformation, with everyone confused by his sudden appearance expect Franky, who was excited to finally see his idol in person. When he asked Nami about the transformation, she was just as clueless and suggested it was from the Gomu Gomu no Mi, but Vegapunk pointed out that there was no such fruit. He then went on to talk about his theory involving Devil Fruits, which impressed Franky and the others. As the fight with CP0 and the Seraphim ended, Luffy’s group reunited with everyone in the lab and Zoro, Brook, and Stussy joined as well.

As they all regroup, Shaka notices that Vegapunk Stella is missing and everyone decides to split up to search for him. When everybody present split up to find Vegapunk Stella (minus Luffy and Zoro who were guarding Rob Lucci and Kaku), Franky and Usopp paired up with Lilith and York. As the four head to search, they end up finding Pythagoras’ body, albeit with his head missing. Thankfully, Pythagoras turned out to be fine, as he had detached his head from his body before he sustained damage. He started freaking out over what happened just as York walked over to S-Snake.

She told her to wait outside since Edison ordered her to stand down, but instead, S-Snake petrified York. A confused Lilith tried to get her to stop, but S-Snake ignored and fired a laser at the four. It destroyed the bridge they were on and they all fell, though they landed safely. As S-Snake continued to pursue them, a furious Lilith shot her with her Bubble Gun. It grazed her shoulder but caused her to fall over, and Lilith said it was because the bubble was made from the energy of the sea, and since S-Snake had Green Blood synthesized from an existing Devil Fruit user, she couls fall prey to the sea.

Franky tried to subdue her but because S-Snake was just grazed, she got back up quickly and knocked Franky away. She fired a laser at Usopp and Lilith, but Franky trapped her under a large bubble. However, S-Snake pleaded that she was suffering, causing Franky to drop his guard long enough for S-Snake to break free and petrify part of his body with Perfume Femur. Lilith fired several bubbles at her, but she dodged them all and charmed both her and Usopp before turning them completely into stone. Franky (who was only partially petrified) demanded S-Snake undo the petrification she did to him, Lilith, and Usopp, claiming that he could still fight with the part of him that wasn’t stone.

S-Snake ignored him, however, and turned to Pythagoras, stomp on and crushing him, resulting in a huge explosion. As she started to walk away, Franky tried calling her again, only to be ignored, however, Franky later got freed of the petrification by S-Snake. Franky later reunited with the rest of the Straw Hats, Bonney and the Vegapunks as they managed to capture York and listened to her call with the Five Elders, revealing her plan. Franky then developed a strategy alongside Vegapunk, with both planning to use the Vegaforce-01 to carry the Thousand Sunny outside of Egghead and then using the Coup-De-Burst to escape from the island’s proximity. Franky then surprised Vegapunk when he explained to him that the Coup-De-Burst was fueled by Cola, leaving the scientist in awe.

The plan then got executed, with Franky, Lilith, Luffy and Bonney running towards the Thousand Sunny and Vegaforce-01, with Franky reminding Lilith that their adventure would not run smoothly as she expressed her excitement to leave Egghead. However, the group was then surprised by the arrival of Kizaru, who came to Egghead earlier, but Luffy then stepped in to fight him directly, and during the fight, Luffy was sent flying across the Labophase, destroying the Vegaforce-01 in the process, which let to the Thousand Sunny being dropped on the ground again. Franky was furious over the Sunny potentially taking damage and later projected that anger towards Kizaru, who ignored him and instead got rid of Bonney by sending her flying off the Labophase. When Franky attempted to shoot Kizaru, the latter already was inside the Laboratory. Franky was then called by Vegapunk, who requested to be updated on Bonney’s status.

Franky then explained to him that Bonney was kicked off the Labophase by Kizaru and was hit by the Frontier Dome’s Defense System, leaving Vegapunk being extremely angry with Franky not having protected her, expecting him to protect her due to his stature. Franky then apologized to Vegapunk, and later hung onto Vegapunk’s driving pod when Vegapunk went down to the Fabiriophase to go looking for Bonney, they eventually find her after Sanji spotted and saved her from two Vice Admirals. Just when they wanted to make their way up to the Labophase again, a sudden explosion close to them drew their attention and when a voice later declared that Jaygarcia Saturn had made landfall on Egghead, Franky was surprised to hear that Saturn was one of the Five Elders, not knowing that they were the highest authority in the world. A cloud next to the Vegatank-08 was then shot by Kizaru, leading to the group falling on the ground but landing safely. Franky then helped Vegapunk up and made sure that Atlas was alright before the group was confronted by Saturn, and Franky was in total shock when the stab wound Saturn had received from Bonney entirely healed.

Saturn then tried to stab and kill Luffy, who was in a weakened state due to the Gear 5 repercussions, with one of his legs but Franky acted more quick, punching Luffy away with Strong Right before grabbing him safely. However, Saturn then used a mysterious aura to pin Franky, Vegapunk and Sanji to the ground, with none of them being able to break free of the aura, just as Saturn tightened his grip on Bonney, preparing to have her executed, to the protest of Vegapunk and Franky. Franky continued to yell in protest but still could not move due to Saturns ability. Following the unexpected arrival of Bartholomew Kuma, Franky watched as Kuma struck Saturn with a Armament Haki-coated fist. Saturn was temporarily incapacitated by the punch, allowing Franky and his allies to move once again.

When Saturn managed to recover, Franky followed up Sanji’s defense of Kuma and Bonney by blasting Saturn with a laser. His victory was short-lived, however, as Kizaru managed to recover as well, and kicked Franky into the ground. Franky then regrouped with Sanji, Atlas, Kuma, and Bonney to get aboard the vacuum rocket while Sanji went back to get Vegapunk. However, upon the rocket’s activation, Kizaru formed a light sword and cut it open, causing Franky and the others to freefall. However, before the Pacifistas could fire upon Franky and the others they were redirected to fire at the Marines due to a counter measure Vegapunk implanted for Bonney to use.

Due to this Saturn impaled Vegapunk through he chest to Franky’s horror while the elder sent Kizaru to kill them, Kizaru then shot light beams at Franky, Sanji, and the others but before he could kill Kuma and Bonney he was punched away by Luffy in his Gear 5th form. Luffy then turned the ground rubbery saving Franky and the others from the ground’s impact. After Luffy attacked Saturn in retaliation for stabbing Vegapunk, Franky came to Bonney and told her to escape with him and Atlas, Kizaru attempted to shoot Bonney and Vegapunk with a laser but it was countered away by Sanji that greatly shocked Franky, after, he carried Bonney on his back to escape to the northeast shore. As Franky and the others made their escape, the Giant Warrior Pirates arrived and prevented Vice Admiral Tosa from killing Bonney. Franky inquired on who the Captains, Dorry and Brogy were, questioning if they were enemies to Luffy.

The two explained they were not and were ally’s to the Straw Hat Pirates and would gladly protect their friends, they then had their crewmates take Franky, Bonney, Atlas, and Kuma back to their ship. As the others made their way to the Giants ship, they were confronted by the Vice Admirals Red King, Guillotine, and Pomsky, blocking their path declaring they would not escape. Franky then leapt into action against Red King, easily defeating the Vice Admiral with a Strong right. After the other two Vice Admirals were subdued by Bonney the group were confronted by Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro.

When Nusjuro attempted to kill Bonney, Franky went to block the attack though Sanji told Franky to move aside so he could protect Bonney from Nusjuro himself. After Nusjuro subdued Sanji and attempted to cut through Bonney in her giant form, Franky tackled her out of the way of the slash, with it taking off the helm of the Giant Warrior Pirates’ ship. Soon after, Franky and his allies embarked onto the Giant Warrior Pirates ship, taking refuge from the Marines. Their relief would be short-lived, as Marcus Mars had mad it his objective to stop their escape, and declared that none of them would leave Egghead alive. Luffy explained to Franky, Sanji, and Bonney that the Five Elders could not be damaged permanently, so they needed to knock Mars far away. Coming up with a plan to have the three to hit him in his balloon form as hard as they can. Franky and the others obliged using Strong Impact Right ‘while Sanji and Bonney used their strongest attack simultaneously on Luffy, and with their momentum, Luffy blasted Mars off into the sky with Gomu Gomu no Dawn Balloon. When the Iron Giant moved to face the rest of the Elders in Luffy’s steed, Franky,Sanji, and Luffy grew excited and quickly shocked as the Giant’s weapons failed, resulting in it being damaged. When the Iron Giant released a massive burst of sealed Supreme King Haki to send away the Five Elders and knock out the Marines, the Straw Hat’s and Giants used the opportunity to escape from Egghead. Not long after, the Giants attempted a celebration , but decided to cancel it so that Luffy could recover. During the downtime, Franky conversed with Jinbe and Zoro over the absurdity of their escape, believing that their chances of getting off of Egghead alive was tantamount to a miracle, to general agreement. Later, Franky would join in on the actual party, happily celebrating amongst his friends.

Elbaph Arc

Days after the celebration, Franky, Robin, Brook, and Jinbe are aboard the Giant’s ship, Great Eirik, as the original six members of the Straw Hats go missing, as well as the Thousand Sunny. Despite their efforts, they were unable to find any trace of them or the Sunny, so they ended their search and decided to continue to head towards Elbaph, hoping they would reunite with Luffy’s group. Later, Franky listened as Robin read aloud the newspapers portraying the Egghead Incident, which stated that the Straw Hats and the Giant Warrior Pirates attacked the island, Luffy killed Vegapunk, and Dorry and Broggy had updated bounties. The Giants then discussed the current situation on Elbaph, revealing that Hajrudin stayed on Elbaph due to his brother, the so-called “Accursed Prince”, as Jinbe correctly guessed they were referring to Loki. The crew listened in shock as the Giants explained that Loki had killed his own father to obtain a legendary devil fruit said to have been passed down through the royal family.

They were even more shocked to learn that it took all of Elbaph’s warriors to imprison Loki, and that if Loki were ever released, it could spell the end of Elbaph. Later, after Brook finished giving Robin a haircut, Franky and the others cheerfully remarked that Robin’s new hairstyle resembled her look from two years ago, as the crew finally reached Elbaph. As the ship reached the shores, the Giant Warrior Pirates guided the ship towards a rainbow that stretched towards a massive tree, stating that they were headed to the village by riding the rainbow. As the ship rides the rainbow, everyone was amazed by the journey, as Harjudin and Stansen soon join them aboard their own ship midway up the rainbow towards the village, with Franky greeting Harjudin, and Harjudin being told that that Luffy would arrive later. After Broggy explains the layout of Elbaph, they all eventually reach the top of the rainbow, were they arrived in the Sun World, as Franky and the others are mesmerized by the very sight of the Giant’s village.

After docking in the village, Luffy’s group arrived and reunited with the crew and the Giant Warrior Pirates, while also meeting the entire New Giant Warrior Pirates as well. Although Hajrudin had a feast planned for everyone, the crew decided that Robin’s reunion with Jaguar D. Saul was more important, so they accompanied her to Warrior’s Spring, with Gerd guiding them there aboard a Svarr. Upon arrival, they learned that Saul had fallen and would not get back up, worrying and annoying most of the crew. However, Robin calmly approached Saul, fully aware that he was fine and simply trying to greet her.

As Robin and Saul finally had a proper talk, they eventually break down and tearfully embraced one another, stating how they missed one another. Watching the reunion from afar, Franky and most of the Straw Hats burst into tears of joy themselves. After Robin and Saul finished their tearful meetup, Saul moved to personally introduce himself to the rest of the Straw Hats. While Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp ran ahead into the Walrus School, Franky expressed his desire to get a closer look at Elbaph’s Treasure Tree Adam, and proceeded into the school as well. While there, the group met with the teacher, Ripley, who explained how Elbaph had changed course from its previous status as a warrior society, and that the children reflected this with softer personalities.

After deciding to split up to explore the island, Franky stated his intentions to learn more about the Treasure Tree of Elbaph. Before he could leave, however, he was given a new outfit by Gerd, who had been practicing. Franky was naturally thankful, alongside his crewmates. Later on, Franky was given a tour of Adam by Ripley, who joked about selling pieces of it for profit. Franky was quick to shoot back, reminding her that Saul was very explicit about the tree’s holy status in Elbaph, and that none of it should be taken.

After getting a closer look at the tree, Franky was shocked to witness a strange mural that had been carved into the bark. Ripley explained that the carvings were done by children sometime during the Void Century, to Franky’s continued shock. Upon approaching the mural, Franky was stunned into silence by the sight of it. As the tour continued around the tree, the pair arrived at an old branch that had been severed many years prior, due to a fire that had been started on it. Franky was shocked to hear something as simple as fire could be a threat to Elbaph, to which Ripley affirmed that lightning was as well.

Not long after, the pair arrived at an ancient facility, built directly into Elbaph’s Adam Tree. While inspecting it, the pair came across Lilith and Jewelry Bonney, who had gotten lost. Franky was surprised that even a genius could be bad with directions, while Ripley added that alarms were going off all over the island, meaning there was likely a threat. Sure enough, a storm MMA made its appearance behind them, causing the entire group to panic. Fortunately, the group was able to escape with Ripley, giving Franky the opportunity to shoot down the MMA. While continuing to run, the group happened upon the Giant Warrior Pirates, who had crashed recently as a result of an MMA attack. Simultaneously, an island-wide announcement was being given by Shepherd Sommers, who gave the giants an ultimatum of joining the World Government, or having their children killed. Naturally, none of the giants could accept such a terrible offer, and Franky rallied alongside them as they prepared to set off to save the children. In addition, Ripley declared her intention to assist as well, to which Franky thanked her.

Thereafter, they lost their flag to the Accino Family and became their soldiers-though only Stansen shows any “loyalty” to them. When their heavily injured captain, Puzzle recovers, he says that Stansen’s decision “wasn’t bad”, that they will no longer be pirates or sail to the New World and that they will stay the bounty hunters’ underlings. No one in the crew agrees with this, especially the very young and passionate member named Jiro, but the captain is not moved at all. Luffy, who was with Chopper on the Phoenix’s ship to look on the injured Puzzle, head back, but the rope that was used to hold the ship close to the Sunny breaks in a rampage of several mysterious underwater “eruptions”, separating the two ships. The group trapped on the Sunny are encountered by Lil, Salchow, Arbell, and Hockera.

They claim that it’s impossible for them to escape and that all the crew will die. Franky, however, gets the ship out by using a “Coup de Burst”. However after this happens, one of Lil’s flying fish manages to steal the Straw Hats flag. They realize this but decides not to find and tell Luffy as they do not want to get scolded by him, shortly before noticing that Zoro, who helped them by cutting through one of the icebergs, but got lost, is still missing. As the crew decide to reclaim their flag without Luffy finding out, the icebergs begin cutting their path, so Franky and Nami use the “Shark Submerge” to go under the icebergs, where they discover that the icebergs are in reality being moved around by flocks of penguins, who begin to chase after the sub.

When the Shark Submerge get back on the surface, Nami and Franky are confronted by Hockera, who plays dumb about the stolen flag and begins messing with them by hitting them with his hockey pucks, which are able to freeze the things that they hit. This went on a bit until the two got fed up with Hockera’s antics and Nami asked Franky to beat Hockera up. The two began to fight each other. In the fight, Hockera was able to freeze Franky’s legs while avoiding his cannon fire. While avoiding the cannon fire, Hockera was able to use the scattered debris from Franky’s attacks to avoid being targeted further, and was able to counter Franky with more of his hockey pucks, until the debris got in the way, which surprised Hockera and annoyed Franky.

Now angered by Hockera’s apparent foolishness, Franky decided to blow away the debris covering Hockera and free himself with Fresh Fire. As the battle continued on, Franky got a hold of Hockera’s hockey stick and disarmed him. Without his stick, Hockera decided to fight Franky with his own two fists. Franky however countered Hockera’s charge by propelling himself against Hockera with a Coup de Vent fired backwards. Hit by Franky, Hockera seemingly passed out.

Things seemed over until Franky got back to the Shark Submerge. The hockey pucks that Hockera hit earlier that seemingly missed were actually aimed at the submarine in order to stop it from moving. With Franky inside the sub along with Nami, Hockera stopped pretending to be out and froze more of the sub with more of his hockey pucks. With Franky and Nami trapped within the Shark Submerge. After being trapped, the two are taken to Lovely Land, the Accino Family’s headquarters.

In an underground ice chamber, Nami and Franky are trapped along with Usopp and Sanji, who were captured by other members of the Accino Family. Franky tries to get everyone and escape with a “Coup de Boo”, but he is out of cola and is too weak to get them out. Later while still trapped, Zoro falls down into the chamber, unaware of what’s going on. After bringing him up to speed, they crew try to think of a way out, when they are then sent food on the request of Robin. Amongst the food are 3 bottles of cola, which allow Franky’s Coup de Vent to blow away the cap of their prison.

This allows the group to escape before freezing. They go and search for the flag. The newly freed Straw Hats search for the room with Don Accino’s “collection”, but they make the mistake of letting Zoro lead them, which ends in them getting hopelessly lost. While wandering around the Accino Family’s castle, they encounter Robin and know she is safe. She departs, intending to let Lil show her to her father’s room.

Just as she leaves, the Straw Hats hear Luffy’s screaming and notice he has arrived after following Campacino and his twin brother Brindo. In order to get the flag back before Luffy, they then split, most of them getting out to help him fight the whole Accino Family (excluding Lil and Don Accino). As Luffy, Chopper, and Jiro arrive to Lovely Land, they are met by most of the Accino Family. While fending them off, the Phoenix Pirates arrive to convince Jiro to come back. As they become involved in the conflict, Puzzle is finally reminded of the promise he made to Vigaro, regaining his fighting spirit, and holding Hockera and then Campacino back.

Wanting pay back, Franky and Nami chase after Hockera after he fails to apprehend Puzzle, and is then confronted by Franky, who defeated Hockera instantly with Fresh Fire. Hockera’s defeated body was then seen alongside his defeated relatives by Don Accino, who decided to come out. With Luffy preparing to fight against Accino, the others took the opportunity to go back into the mansion, with Nami staying with Luffy to monitor him and the others go to retrieve the flag. There, Sanji and Usopp notice that Franky has disappeared, as Franky got to the Shark Submerge and returned to the Sunny to help guard the ship from the penguins. Despite some trouble as Luffy and the Don fight on, and Lovely Land starts melting away before their eyes due to the Don’s devil fruit ability, the Straw Hats and the Phoenix Pirates, meanwhile, manage to recover their flags. After the intense battle between Accino and Luffy ends, wherein the Don is defeated and Hyokaido was completely melted, The Straw Hats then depart as Hyokaido begins to fall apart, while ensuring to put the flag back on the ship before Luffy notices its actually gone. As they sail away from the area, with the defeated Accino Family sail away with the Don in tow, Campacino and the remaining grunts follow them and try to get revenge. Then suddenly, the Phoenix Pirates arrive and Puzzle challenges Campacino instead. While they sail off, Chopper is worried about them, but Luffy says to see how determined they are and that nothing will happen to them. As Puzzle promises to meet the Straw Hats again in the New World, the crew sail away from the once frozen area, and continue onward toward their next adventure.

Romance Dawn Story

Spa Island Arc

As the Straw Hats relax on Spa Island, they met Lina, her sister Sayo, and her pet sea raccoon, Nukky, who can shape-shift. Sayo is holding a notebook, and when asked about it, she decides that she and her sister should leave. This is when Foxy, along his loyal crewmates, Porche and Hamburg suddenly appear much to the Straw Hats’ surprise (though Luffy takes awhile to remember who he is). While still miffed at his defeat since their last meeting, Foxy’s only concern is Sayo’s notebook. With a new trick up his sleaves, Foxy incapacitates the straw hats and take girls, and takes the notebook.

Just as Foxy is about to have them all fall down into the ocean, Franky and Brook show up, and Luffy asks them to beat Foxy up, to which they do, causing a panic on the island in the process. As Luffy and the others make back up, Foxy tries and fails to use his new trick against them as Franky and Brook intervene, and Luffy sends him and his crewmates flying with a Gum Gum Bazooka. As the situation dies down, the sister’s explain that the notebook contain’s their father’s notes for creating a gem, and that the last clue to making it was somewhere on Spa Island. Overhearing the conversation, the owner of the island, Doran takes Sayo hostage, revealing that he was scheming to take the treasure for himself, having been the one that employed the Foxy Pirates and set them loose on the sisters. Doran then tells the crew to find the treasure if they want the girl back.

The group panic over what to do until Luffy makes the suggestion of simply destroying the island much to Doran’s panic. As the whole crew, including Zoro, begin destroying the island, an angry Doran decides to stops the bunch by showing them Sayo tied to a stake and a gigantic cannon aimed at her. To show he was serious, he fires a warning shot that barely misses Sayo. Doran then demands the notebook for Sayo’s life. Lina tempted to do it was stopped by Sayo, telling her not to give up on their father or his goal, and managed to convince Lina to refuse giving up the notebook.

The Straw Hats then proceed to stop Doran and rescue Sayo. Luffy, with Lina and Nukky holding onto him, jumps into the air, uses Gear 3, and preform his Gum Gum Giant Axe, splitting the island in half and sinking it, which annoyed the crew since they weren’t out of harms way yet. After doing this, Luffy shrinks and he, Lina, and Nukky land in the ocean. As they are being rescued by Sanji, Lina sees an x-shaped crack in the ocean floor below the island. After telling the crew this, they all realized that the clue was under the island the whole time. The heat from the lava soon makes steam form around the group and the reflection from the sun causes a circular rainbow effect. The sisters then realize that the steam is the final clue to make the gem. A few days later, the Straw Hats’ continue their journey when Nukky flies in and delivers a letter to the crew from his owners. Sayo and Lina succeeded in making the rainbow gem and are living happily with their father who returned, alive and well, just in time to see the creation of the gem. They even sent the gem to the Straw Hats as a thank you, and while the crew gather around to look at the gem, it starts to rain candy out of nowhere, and the candy knocks the gem out of Luffy’s hand, causing Nami to panic and demand that everyone search for it on the deck.

Little East Blue Arc

As the Straw Hats sail through the seas trying to refill their rations by fishing, at that same time, Franky noticed a large beetle coming at the Thousand Sunny. As the crew deal with the beetle eating all of the fish that they catch, a young girl on a ship named Yoko orders the beetle, who she calls Boss, to attack the Thousand Sunny. As Luffy tries to fight the beetle, it takes Luffy, Usopp, Sanji, and Zoro away to a nearby island. As they reach the island, Boss gets caught on a cliff, leaving Luffy and the others to make their way to the ground. Once they made to the ground, Yoko pops out of nowhere and bits Luffy, as Sanji, Usopp, and Zoro show up and eventually they are all surrounded by the locals. When Yoko tells them that they are pirates, they start bowing before Luffy and the others, until an old man arrives and tells them that they are the Straw Hat Pirates, which led to them showing the Straw Hats through a maze, until they reach the town, known to everyone as Little East Blue. As Luffy’s group explore the town, back on the Sunny, Usopp called Nami, and told her to come to the back of the island, because the people wanted her to come. As Nami left to go to the town, Franky decides to build a insect cage for Boss in case Luffy wants to add him to the crew. Later still on the Sunny, Chopper, Robin, and Brook are watching Franky put the finishing touches on the cage for Boss. As the others wait for the rest of the crew to return, Luffy’s group help the people of Little East Blue fend off the forces of the Amigo Pirates, led by Largo and Corto. After Luffy defeats Largo, he and Boss have a rematch that ends in a draw, due to both being exhausted from their earlier fights. With every one of the Amigo Pirates dealt with, the Straw Hats set sail once again, but not before Luffy promises to see Yoko and Boss again someday.

One Piece Film Strong World

On board the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats read news of attacks on East Blue. Luffy says they will return to East Blue to protect it when Shiki’s ship appears overhead. After warning him of the storm ahead, he comes down to meet them. There he reveals he has a Devil Fruit power to make any inanimate object he touches ignore gravity and float. After learning it was Nami that delivered the warning, and that they are headed to East Blue, Shiki offers to take them there and uses his power on Sunny.

Together the two ships travel to the floating island seen before where Shiki suddenly kidnaps Nami. Franky along with the others try to rescue her, but by controlling the Thousand Sunny using his power, he escapes them, as well as scattering them among the fragments of the island. Franky finds Robin and Brook and begin exploring the island they were flung to. They happen on the sunken ruins of a city submerged in a lake with trees taken root around the buildings. Upon entering they are attacked by the local wildlife.

A horde of army ants pour out of an entrance and rush them. Franky prepares to fight but Robin reminds him that he is out of fuel. But then, a giant shark jumps out of the water to attack. The ants devour the shark before it is able to hit the water, and resume their attack. Brook steps in and cuts them all down.

Franky’s group are later seen traveling across the desert on a motorcycle he had made out of a giant Crayfish that he named Zarrey Davidson. As they approach Shiki’s private village, the vehicle lurches back in fear almost throwing them off. Franky hits it over the head in anger but finds it is trembling in fear. Unable to ride further, they walk the rest of the way. Upon entering the village they find a large building where many hundreds of pirates are gathering, similarly protected by poison plants.

They learn there that Shiki is planning to let loose the animals on the island into East Blue in a gambit to force the surrender of the World Government. They also learn that to prove the power of the animals, he is planning a demonstration using a village on the floating island. Franky’s group arrives shortly after, rejoin the rest of the crew after them suffering a heavy loss at the hands of Shiki. Xiao reappears and gives them the Dial Nami left them. Her mother, who earlier had expressed relief about the animals being sent to East Blue, apologizes for saying how happy she was for Shiki leaving for East Blue.

They then play the message, and after hearing only the first bit of it, Luffy is angered to the point that he will not listen to the rest (the rest of the crew does, however). Back at Shiki’s place, Nami is found to have in fact been attempting to blow up the plants protecting his palace, but was overcome by the poison. Shiki traps her near the plants and heads off to meet the pirate captains gathering. The Straw Hats arrive at his palace and burst down the gates and make short work of the guards outside. While preparing a toast to the commencement of the operation, the Straw Hats march into the main meeting room brandishing various firearms and a new wardrobe.

After a short confrontation, where Shiki calls them simply a suicide squad, and reveals hundreds of men around them. They unload their firearms in the room, defeating most of those gathered, much to Shiki’s dismay, then split up to defeat the rest. Luffy chases after Shiki, with Franky and the others helping fight off his minions and hordes of animals who begin running wild in his fortress. During the battle, Franky is chased down the halls by Hammer Isoginchaku. Franky finishes it off with a blast from his cannon. When the island enters the raging storm, Franky along with the others return to the Sunny. After Shiki is defeated by Luffy, Franky along with the other Straw Hats escape using Thousand Sunny, using Shiki’s pirate sail as a parachute. Franky is seen much later on the ship as Nami recovers.

One Piece 3d Straw Hat Chase

The following day after a strange night on the Thousand Sunny, Luffy wakes up and frantically searches for his Straw Hat when he realizes that it is gone. He almost drowns trying to find it when he thinks that it might of fallen into the ocean, leading to Zoro having to rescue him. Soon the rest of the crew have a emergency meeting about the hat, with Usopp stating that the previous night a strange bird flew in and out of their room, leading to the said bird becoming a possible culprit. As they all go out to search for it, Nami is on the Shiro Mokuba I, Sanji, Robin and Brook are on the Mini Merry II, Chopper and Usopp are on the Shark Submerge III, and Franky steers the Sunny. Chopper and Usopp find a ship, and aboard it they find a strange man, who passed out from coughing up blood.

As they bring the man aboard the Sunny to be treated, a giant bird lands on the ship, with Luffy’s hat in its beak. As Luffy orders the crew to go after it, a Marine ship mysteriously appears behind them. As Franky tells the others that they all need to head back to the ship, the chase is already on as they go through a series of glaciers, a Marine Blockade, into a cave, off a waterfall, and even into a nest of Sea Kings, with Luffy being the one most determined to catch the bird. He chases it into a volcanic region, as Chopper manages to get Schneider to finally wake up, with Schneider asking the doctor to let him see his precious dog, Buzz; who ate the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Eagle devil fruit, with Luffy finding out about this as he sees Buzz both in his dog form and his hybrid form. Schneider then reveals that in order to make sure his dog did not watch him slowly die, he gave the dog an impossible task in order to stay by his side; which was to steal the straw hat of Monkey D.

Luffy. As Chopper hears this, he realizes that Buzz is the giant bird from before, and he informs Schneider that he is on the Straw Hats’ ship, causing Schneider to spring back to life and demand that the ship go after his friend. Meanwhile, Luffy is fighting Buzz for his hat back, but the two end up crashing into a Marine base. Before either of them can continue, they get trapped in a seastone cage. The commander of the base reveals himself and mocks Luffy by holding his straw hat on the barrel of his gun, then shoots it gaining Luffy’s anger.

Before Luffy gets captured, however, Zoro arrives to save him. Luffy tries to get his hat back, but stopped by the base’s three giants. As a prolonged fight with the giants leads to Luffy and Zoro almost getting crushed, Schneider arrives, piloting the Sunny as he has come for Buzz. As the ship crashes into the base, the Straw Hats use the opportunity to regroup, with Schneider apologizing to Buzz for trying to keep him away. After doing so, the three giants attack again, only this time they taken down by the Straw Hats’ teamwork. After this, Luffy goes after the Marine that still has his hat. The commanding officer throws the Hat into the ocean when he sees Luffy coming, which leads to an angry Luffy using Gear 3rd to punch one of the giants into the gate that he is standing on, with the giants’ weapon landing right onto the marine, as the gate begins to break. As water begins to flood the base, the Straw Hats, Schneider and Buzz all escape onto the Thousand Sunny. As everyone gets to safety, Luffy is still chasing after his hat, with it seeming like he will fall to his doom before he can safely reach it. However, Buzz arrives and catches Luffy, which finally allows Luffy the chance to finally catch his hat. Later, Chopper reveals to Schneider what was causing him to cough up blood, a fork that he apparently swallowed by accident and assures him that he will not die. With all that settled, the crew return Schneider and Buzz back to their own ship and part ways, with Schneider telling Luffy to take good care of his straw hat.

As the journey begins with the Straw Hats escaping from cannon fire from a Marine fleet, Robin notices that the cannons are missing them on purpose. Then the leader of the fleet orders a Marine ship to come out from behind a rock and intercept the crew, bumping into the Thousand Sunny. As the crew recovers from the impact, Nami notices that the marine ship is mysteriously empty, till they all see something jumping around the ship and onto the Sunny. Nami recognizes it as a Kung-Fu Dugong, and tries and fails to stop Franky from attacking it. When he asks why, Robin explains that a Kung-Fu Dugong will become his disciple if he defeats it.

The dugong, who was laying defeated on the Sunny’s deck, gets up and swears allegiance to Franky. As this happens, the marine officer in charge, Trap, reveals that the dugong completed its mission and will proceed to capture Luffy and his crew. After realizing that they were surrounded by crew of Kung-Fu Dugongs, the Straw Hats are cornered by the Marines into an alcove of a nearby island. Trap pushes a lever, and a loud noise begins from beneath the Thousand Sunny. Suddenly, the ship is raised out of the sea, revealing the intricate Trap Tower.

The Sunny is resting on the top of the tower in the hand of a Kung-Fu Dugong statue, and Trap laughs while taking a drink from a bottle. He tells them all that the bottom of the floor is made of seastone, and tells them to enjoy their trip, as he pulls another lever and the statue’s arm sends the Sunny sliding down the mouth of the statue, entering the Trap Tower in the process. As the crew are forced to ride down the path of the tower, they reach the first trap, known as the “Cutting Hell”, which is a large wheel of spinning blades inside of a tube. As the Sunny falls towards it, Luffy simply destroys the trap with a Gomu Gomu no Pistol as the crew falls through the tunnel into another one filled with seawater, as the Sunny begins to spin and crash into a series of waves, as the devil fruit user of the crew are weakened in the process of going through the water tunnel. Soon, they reach the second trap, a giant gorilla-like machine known as the “Hammer Hell” that punches large metal fists together in the path the ship is headed.

As Sanji deals with the trap by destroying the fists, an angry Trap presses a button to active more traps at the end of the tunnel, including four harpoon shooting mechanisms, but Zoro deflects the harpoons, making Trap even angrier as he presses the button again. As Sanji and Zoro deal with the harpoons and fight with each other, Trap hits a different button to activate the main ride, and hundreds of dugong-operated cannons come out of the walls of a large room the Sunny has stopped in. Luffy, still groggy from the seawater ride gets up after Nami shocks him awake, and he goes onto the masthead of the Sunny and uses Gomu Gomu no Ballon to deflect the cannonballs. The resulting explosions cause the dugongs to abandon the cannons and jump into the water for safety. The explosions also causes debris to fall from Trap Tower.

With the ride momentarily stopped, the crew discussed what to do next, as the Dugong that Franky attacked earlier goes into the water. Despite Franky telling him to come out of the water, the crew realize that they are surrounded by Kung Fu Dugongs, but want to avoid fighting them and accidentally making them their disciples. Brook uses his music to make them all fall asleep instead, and Trap curses them for harming his dugongs. The water in the room starts to drain and the Sunny falls through a hole, but Robin uses her powers to lower the ship to safety, after which Luffy punches through the wall and the crew successfully escape Trap Tower, but start to fall back down into the sea as a result. Instead, they fall onto a giant slide, as Trap releases a group of Giants known as the Giant Nine, with each one of the nine giants ordered to swing a spiked club at the Straw Hats’ ship, destroying a part of the slide behind them with every missed swing. Luffy and Usopp manage to each attack one of the giants, but the ship continues down the slide. As the ship reaches the first giant again, Franky’s Dugong reappeared with three barrels of cola it stole from the tower. Franky loads the barrels and uses Coup de Burst to launch the Sunny at the giant and Gaon Cannon to knock him over. The giant’s club goes flying into the air and hits the tower above, causing the upper half of it to collapse. As Trap and his Tower finally fall, the Thousand Sunny flies away from the Coup de Burst, and Franky praises his Dugong, as the rest of the dugongs begin to awaken. Chopper translates for them and tells the crew that they want to fight again, Luffy agrees, and Nami slaps and scolds him while he laughs. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji prepare to fight them, and Nami shouts at Brook to just put them all to sleep.

During some spare time on the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats have a mock introductory show with Usopp hosting. Once Luffy’s turn was done, they are interrupted by an attack from several Marine battleships. During the battle, the Straw Hats are forced to make an emergency Coup de Burst in order to escape a sudden attack from above, in the form of an immensely large cannonball. Crash landing on a nearby island, they decide to explore while Franky repairs and moves the ship. While Franky works on a way to move the ship back into the water, the rest of the Straw Hats explore the local town to re-supply what was broken or lost in the landing.

However they all notice that the town is in short supply of everything and that only women, children or the elderly run the shops. Eventually Brook, Robin and Nami discover the site of a past cannon attack located directly opposite the Marine base. As Franky repairs the ship and moves it back into the water, Luffy learns from the local wax sculptor Diego about the island’s situation. Hand Island is an island of artisans that was once under the protection of Whitebeard. However, after he died in the Summit War of Marineford, rival pirates quickly set their sights on his territory.

Marines quickly stepped in and built a base nearby which restored peace. Eventually, during mid-construction, Commodore Bilić was put in command. He called for a meeting of the townspeople and asked that they help build a cannon to help ward off pirate attacks which the people happily agreed to. Among them was his son Regis, who had joined the Marines to help the island, much to the dismay of Diego, who had hoped he would follow in his footsteps. However, once the cannon was completed, Bilic fired on the town as “practice”, destroying several buildings and killing a few innocents as well.

It soon became obvious that he just wanted the cannon for his own ends and used the families of the builders as his own hostages lest he fire the cannon on the rest of the town. After telling this tale, Diego starts to head off to the Marine base to give Regis the Whitebeard figurine that he made. But Luffy offers to go instead. Luffy later regroups with the entire crew and tells them his intention. After hearing this the others draw lots to see who’ll go with him with Sanji and Usopp chosen.

The next day the three head for the Marine base on the Mini Merry. Once they reach the base, the marines open fire once they notice Luffy forcing Sanji and him to invade the base which quickly leads into a chase. Eventually, the two find Regis and give him the figurine but Luffy is captured in a seastone cage once he steps on the platform where Regis’s cell is. The wheel turns towards the water submerging the two. Sanji manages to jump in and free the pair and they escape into ocean via a sewer fan where they regroup with Usopp.

The four rest on a reef where Regis explains he made the doll when he was six. When he went to join the Marines, Diego tried to at least have him take the figurine with him but he declined. Regis feels that he disappointed his father for not following the path he wanted. But after seeing the figure and being told that Diego always treasured it, he realizes that his father still believes in him. Likewise Diego, after being told why Regis was thrown in jail, is happy of his conviction to protect the island.

After hearing this, the four then notice that Bilic has started firing on the town, thinking the villagers are hiding the Straw Hats and demands they turn them over or he will destroy the town. Luffy’s group head back to the base and make their way inside with Usopp and Sanji distracting the Marines while Luffy and Regis sneak in. Bilic, thinking the townspeople sent the Straw Hats after him, fires another cannon at the town but it’s sliced in half by Zoro. As Zoro continues to defend the town from Bilic’s cannon, Luffy and Regis make their way into the base and gather as much wax as they can. The Straw Hats fight against the Marines while Regis makes his way up to the cannon’s barrel and activates the wax, causing it to backfire and destroy itself.

Bilic emerges from the rubble of the cannon, obviously angered. He burns Regis’s Whitebeard figure to mock Luffy as well as him then reveals he has a mobile cannon as a back up. Luffy faces off against him, but suffers trouble due to the cannon’s speed, the constant bombardment Bilic fires into his rubber body and the spinning tops fitted with blades sent after him. His crew (along with some help from Koby) help take out the tops and Luffy finally manages to beat Bilic by getting in close enough to grab his snake puppet and pummel him with an Elephant Gatling, destroying his cannon in the process. Kizaru suddenly shows up much to the shock of everyone. The Marines believe he was the one who stopped Bilic and cheer for him as the Straw Hats make a hasty exit. However it turns out the Kizaru is really another wax sculpture created by Diego who made it on the request of Koby. Using the charade (as well as Diego throwing his voice to imitate the Admiral), Koby places Bilic under arrest and states he is likely to be court martialed while declaring that it was never the Marines’ intention to enslave the island. He orders the Marines to help rebuild the island while Diego and Regis reconcile. Koby watches the Straw Hats go, promising he’ll catch up to Luffy soon to which Luffy, seemingly hearing this, laughs in agreement. However as the crew flees, they realize they accidentally left Zoro on Hand Island.

Glorious Island

As the crew leisurely mess around on the Thousand Sunny, Luffy, Nami and Brook are seen relaxing in the inflatable pool outside the Sunny. As Luffy enjoys the pool, he soon notices the presence of a Sea Monster with the appearance of a horse towering the Sunny. As everyone notices the monster, they start to panic, as Luffy starts fighting the monster in order for Sanji to turn it in their dinner. After Luffy defeats the monster, he accidentally knocks his away, forcing everyone to chase after it with the Sunny. As the chase begins, they eventually reach where the monster landed, with Luffy excited to eat it.

As Zoro reminds Sanji not to forget the booze as well, Sanji comments on how that’s all he thinks about, leading to the two of them arguing. Franky gets involved and tries to calm Zoro down, which only makes him annoyed at Franky, until Franky suggests that they should have a party. As Franky starts to talk about having a cherry blossom party, everyone is confused but interested. Later, Franky explains to the other guys that their party should be a buffet. With everyone originally against the idea, Franky goes on to list the different number of foods that they can have thanks to the sea monster meat, which gets the others dreaming and imagining the food as well. After getting everyone excited about the idea, Luffy starts imagining an whole island filled with meat, with Zoro imagining a waterfall made of booze to go with it. Franky adds the idea of gigantic hamburgers with fries and cola, and Chopper wants clouds of cotton candy and cow milk bath. Brook gets so excited about this glorious dream island that he boldly asks Nami if he could see her panties, making her mad enough to kick him and tell him to come back to reality. As Brook lays on the ground, Sanji shows up telling everyone that the real meat is ready. As the cherry blossoms start to rain down and the party starts, the others watch as Franky makes cherry blossoms rain down across the Sunny.

One Piece Film Z

Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates are having a cherry blossom party. Luffy is goofing off, stuffing himself with meat while Brook is singing. Chopper becomes distressed when inhaling poison drifting in the air, while Brook is inspired to write a song about it. The smell is shown coming from Usopp spraying poison over his Pop Greens, as Robin happily waters some of the plants. Usopp reassures Luffy that the poison is merely meant for killing worms with Zoro showing a liking to the tainted flavor of his alcohol.

Volcanic ash suddenly begins to rain from the sky much to their confusion. Nami studies her Log Pose and finds the needle spinning where the volcano had erupted from. She realizes that the needle must be spinning around because the volcano must have destroyed the island and the needle no longer has a magnetic field to lock on. Franky says it is impossible, but she points out that they are in the New World, anything is possible. Usopp whispers to her that they have to hide this from Luffy and choose a safer route.

Despite it, Luffy notices the spinning needle, deciding to head in that direction. Usopp whines, but Nami tells him to trust in her navigational skills. He warns her that the paths they choose could cost them their lives, but she tells him the matter is out of their hands now. As Usopp continues to whine, Luffy spots the battered body of Z clinging to life on a piece of driftwood out at sea, and attempts to rescue him. When he grabs ahold of his mechanical arm, he becomes weak and Sanji and Usopp having to help pull Z aboard.

Chopper examines Z, but finds that he should be fine. Nami shows signs of suspicion, worrying that they picked up someone problematic. Robin notices his arm is built out of Seastone, the reason why Luffy became weak when he touched him. Sanji reminds them all that Seastone is used against Devil Fruit users with him and Zoro debating whether to throw him overboard. Chopper defends him, with Luffy ordering him to save his life and that he would deal with him if he was an enemy.

Z awakens later in Chopper’s infirmary, with Zoro and Sanji standing guard outside. He thanks Chopper for his care, calling him a great medic and meets Luffy who remained in the room during Z’s treatment. Z immediately tags him as the ship’s captain. Luffy asks him what he plans to do next, as Z tells him he is carrying a Vivre Card and his comrades should find him soon. Luffy begins asking questions about Z, his arm, and what he is doing.

Things seem to go fine at first. At least until Luffy reveals he is a pirate. Z instantly attacks and throws Luffy through the wall. He asks Luffy why he is a pirate to which Luffy proudly responds he will be the Pirate King. This comment infuriates Z, as he madly swings his Battle Smasher around.

Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji all begin fighting him with Z able to hold them all off with relative ease. Ain and Binz then arrive with a fleet of ships and board the Sunny, announcing they will be confiscating it. Franky attacks, with Binz summoning vines that are able to subdue him. Robin tries attacking, but he proves too quick for her to grab him with her arms. Z overpowers the Monster Trio and throws them out into the deck of the ship.

He grabs Luffy with his Battle Smasher, sapping away his powers and chastises Luffy’s dream, telling him he will never be Pirate King with his strength. Curiosity piqued, he asks Luffy his name. When he tells him, Z connects him as Garp’s grandson before throwing him onto the deck with the other Straw Hats. He announces to the Straw Hats he will destroy all pirates and orders the Neo Marines to attack the Sunny, bombarding her with cannons. While Luffy wishes to continues his battle with Z, the pleas of his crewmates force him to retreat.

He frees Franky from his bonds who quickly heads for the steering and he uses a Coup de Burst to escape much to the surprise of the Neo Marines. Luffy and the Straw Hats are recovering on a nearby island, where Franky goes to work on fixing the Sunny. He tells Luffy to go after Z while he repairs the damage done. Chopper regrets saving Z’s life, but Sanji tells him a pirate should live without regrets of what he believes in. Nami tells him that they must track them down, or else she will never get her original body back.

She would not be as helpful a Navigator to them without her full grown body. Nami proposes gathering intel on their enemy as the first place to start. Mobston, an old man approaches them and asks if they had a run in with Z. He tells them many pirate ships that have come to the island have been attacked by him. He tells that many who had been attacked by him, lost their will to continue and left the New World.

He is pleasantly surprised Luffy still wishes to fight him, after losing so badly to him and offers up his finest equipment to use in their quest. Nami tells the crew to not arouse suspicion, they need a new change of clothes first. They are told their best place to start is to take the Sea Train to Secon Island. As they head to their next destination, they split up their search. Franky remains on the Sunny to finish the repairs, while the others learn more Z and his motives.

As the other Straw Hats return to Dock Island, as Luffy is patched up from his second fight with Z and has the Seastone bullet fired at him removed. Kuzan appears before the crew, telling Luffy to stop moping. Nami, Usopp, Chopper and Robin are shown terrified, but Luffy assures them it is alright. Kuzan explains Z’s plan to the crew of destroying the three Endpoints with the Dyna Stones to release the Grande Imbuto, a fissure line underneath the Grand Line. If Z destroys the last one, this will allow the magma flow to be release and flood the sea with fire.

Though doing so will not only kill pirates, but innocents as well. Now that two of the Endpoints have been destroyed, Z is about to go to the last one, Piriodo, and unless the Straw Hats stop him, the Pirate Era will end. The Endpoints had been considered a legend, with most thinking it was nonsense. The government covered up the truth about them, to dissuade pirates from using it. That only the World Government and highest ranking officers of the Marines know about it.

He laments that it is an Admiral abusing this knowledge above all else. He reminds them that he is not doing this out of power, but to punish pirates. Luffy remains undeterred despite being defeated twice by Z, vowing to chase him down and get his hat back. If he lets Z keep his hat, he could never face Shanks or be worthy of the Pirate King title. Kuzan then gives the crew an Eternal Pose leading to Piriodo.

If they lose to Z, they will be destroyed along with the New World. Or, if they win they will be attacked by the Marines. With that said he leaves them to their own fates. Franky then reminds the crew about the equipment they were promised earlier, showing a large stash of armor and weapons Mobston had saved up from the previous crews that suffered from Z’s wrath. hey suit up in their new gear and head out.

As they are leaving, Gari approaches Luffy telling him he wants to grow up to be a hero but cant decide whether he wants to be an Admiral or a pirate. Sanji flatly states pirates are not heroes. But Luffy chimes in saying if both feel the same, then it is okay and just do whatever he pleases. Gari watches the Straw Hat Pirates leave, filled with admiration for them. The Straw Hats intercept a blockade of Neo Marine warships guarding Piriodo.

They blast through their defenses with the Gaon Cannon before landing on the beaches with an army waiting for them. The Straw Hats begin fighting, using their new weapons to help. As the fight against the neo marines intensifies, the Straw Hats win their battles, standing victorious over the defeated Neo Marines. However an army of modified Pacifista appear and begin their onslaught. The crew are forced to run until Franky arrives in the Franky Shogun to turn the tide.

Franky takes on the Pacifista, able to fight them all off with his superior strength. Once clustered together, he destroys them with a powerful Radical Beam. After Ain’s defeat by Zoro, her effects begin to wear off. Nami grows back to her adult size, with the armor she is sporting now barely fitting her body. Chopper reverts back growing slightly, along with Robin and Brook (though it does not seem to show any signs of change on him).

The group head on to catch up with Luffy. The Straw Hats catch up to the battle, seeing Luffy had fought hard against Z and had managed to leave an imprint of his fist inside Z’s giant metal fist. Z asks him why he wants to fight him so much. That even if he defeats him, nobody will thank him for his efforts for the stigma of being a pirate. Luffy responds if he cannot defeat him, he will never be able to become the Pirate King.

The Battle Smasher breaks then and there and falls from Z’s arm, revealing a smaller mechanical arm he can still use. Z tells Luffy he is going to dedicate his life to ending his ambition, challenging him for a final bout. Z and Luffy activate their Armament Haki, their arms turning a hardened black. The two engage in a brutal fist fight, both striking each other with imbued Haki. Kuzan is seen watching their match from a distance, stating “Black Arm” Zephyr has returned.

Z and Luffy both give each other hard punches to the chest and stomach, giving Luffy a moment to recoil and puke. Luffy strikes back a punch that knocks Z’s glasses right off. A brief flashback is seen in his mind of his early childhood, rattling his early memories. Z becomes elated, that he is being given such a good fight. Both Luffy and him are worn out, still pushing each other with punches back and forth.

He corners Luffy and begins pounding on him, with Luffy showing little sign he can defend himself anymore. As Z begins to gain the upper hand, Luffy pushes him back with a kick. Fighting on their last reserves, Luffy shouts he is going to be the Pirate King with Z shouting his name in absolute confidence. After exchanging a few more blows to one another, Luffy finally collapses from exhaustion. Z falls to the ground after, unable to fight anymore too.

Z bitterly says he’s gotten old, and his body cannot keep up with him anymore. He finds it disappointing, telling Luffy he was enjoying fighting him. As the battle ends, the Straw Hats rush over to Luffy’s aid, with Ain and Binz doing the same for Z. Z tells Luffy to finish him, but Luffy merely tells him he is already satisfied as he regains his straw hat, giving him a smile. He offers to continue fighting him, if he wants but Z turns him down, also being satisfied.

Kizaru then arrives with his army, telling them he is going to kill them all. Z says he’s done everything he’s wanted to do, and now will face the price for it as he marches towards the Marine army. He dismisses Luffy, and tells him to leave the rest to him. Ain tries to rush to his side, but Kuzan summons a giant wall of ice dividing everyone from him. Luffy silently looks on, honoring his sacrifice. The Straw Hats depart the island, watching the battle unfold in grim silence as Z gives up his life to save them. During the credits, it is revealed that after Z’s defeat, the Straw Hats returned to Dock Island one last time, to return the gear and weapons Mobston had given them. They bid them farewell, and Gari decided to become a pirate, wearing Luffy’s borrowed attired.

Caesar Retrieval Arc

After the Straw Hats and Trafalgar Law leave Punk Hazard with Caesar Clown captured, they are wary of being attacked by Doflamingo. As the ship’s residents sleep, a mysterious figure named Breed boards the ship with his animal forces and attacked everyone on board. Franky alongside everyone else fought back, at least until Breed mysteriously called off his forces, having successfully kidnapped Caesar in the process. With Caesar being taken, and large ship approaching, Law, Luffy and Chopper decide to board the Shark Submerge III to go after Breed, while the everyone else deals with the ship. After Breed is defeated and Caesar is retrieved, Luffy, Chopper and Law return to the Sunny, saying their goodbyes to the Kung Fu Dugong and his freed animal friends. As dawn breaks, the Straw Hat Pirates receive the morning newspaper saying that Doflamingo has resigned from the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

While sailing the ocean, Nami notices a storm coming in, and alerts the rest of the crew, allowing them to quickly take action and launch the Thousand Sunny away with a Coup De Burst. Almost immediately afterward, Nami collapses from a high fever, and as none of the crew know enough about medicine, they decide to find a doctor to save her, leading them to sail to Drum Island. Upon arrival, the residents give them a cold reception, as they demand that the crew leave because they are pirates. Luffy begs them to save Nami, and they allow the crew to take her to the shore, with Luffy, Sanji, Robin and Usopp taking Nami ashore while Franky and Zoro stay behind. While the others learn about the the island’s king, Wapol and how he took all of the doctors on the island away with him during a pirate invasion, with only one doctor, Dr.

Kureha being left on the island, living on top of the mountain. Meanwhile, back at the ship, Franky notices a strange ship, the Bliking, and he and Zoro investigate with the Shark Submerge. Soon after they reach the ship, Wapol’s men attack them, and Zoro and Franky defeat them. As Luffy and the others reaches the top of the mountain thanks to Chopper, and Sanji and Nami also get brought in for treatment, Zoro and Franky find a snowmobile and use it to head toward the mountain. As Luffy and the others are being treated at Drum Castle, they learn more about Chopper’s past, and about Dr.

Hiriluk, and thank Chopper and Kureha for saving them and Nami. Unfortunately, they soon come under attack from Wapol and his men, who have come to take back the island. While Chopper and Sanji fight off Wapol’s men, Wapol attempts to shoot down Hiriluk’s flag with his Baku Baku no Mi powers. As he does this, Luffy gets to the top of the castle and protects the flag, but soon ends up in a fight with Wapol’s brother, Musshuru. Musshuru initially has the advantage in speed and easily defeats Luffy with his Noko Noko no Mi powers, poisoning him with his spores.

Chopper tries to fight back, but he is defeated, too. Before Musshuru can give the final blow he stopped by the arrival of the rest of the Straw Hats, who stop him and manage to give Luffy an antidote to the poison. As he finishes recovering, Luffy then uses Gear Second allowing him to keep up with Musshuru and ultimately dominates Musshuru in battle. Wapol escapes into the castle and eats Musshuru, fusing with him and the Bliking Cannon, in an attempt to gain his power and combine it with his own to make a poison bomb to annihilate everyone in Drum so he can replace them with his soldiers. As he tries to fire the bomb, Chopper uses Arm Point and manages to launch Wapol into the roof. Despite managing to fire the bomb, it is destroyed by the Straw Hats before it can explode, then Luffy manages to defeat him and send him flying with Gear Third’s Gum Gum Gigant Pistol. Some of Musshuru’s poisonous spores drift down, but Franky incinerates them before they can do any damage. After the battle, Luffy asks Chopper to join his crew, and despite initially not trusting humans before, Chopper decides to go with Luffy. Chopper tells Kureha, who berates him, claiming that he is not ready to leave home, and chases him out of the castle. As he leaves with the Straw Hats off the mountain, Kureha then orders the Drum guards to fire off Hiriluk’s Sakura mixture, which mixes with the snow, resulting in a pink snowfall and causing the mountain on which the castle stands to resemble a Sakura tree. As Chopper sees this, he realizes that Hiriluk’s dream has been accomplished, and starts to cry. With the Cherry Blossoms in the distance, the Straw Hats sail away from Drum Island, with Chopper now a member, as they go toward their next adventure.

Silver Mine Arc

As night fell, the Straw Hats and Barto Club went to sleep. However, Luffy and Bartolomeo were suddenly captured by a Silver Pirate Alliance platoon. Franky used Weapons Left on the enemy pirates, but only managed to temporarily knock a pirate off her Battle Boat without doing any real damage. The next day, the Going Luffy-senpai arrived at Silver Mine, where Luffy and Bartolomeo were being held. The ship was besieged by the Silver Pirate Alliance again, and this time Franky successfully took many of them out with Weapons Left. After Luffy and Bartolomeo reached the ship, the Straw Hats and Barto Club then set sail for Zou.

On the Thousand Sunny, the Straw Hats were having a barbecue. Franky was playing a volleyball game with Robin versus Nami and Chopper. However, the two lost because Robin used her Devil Fruit ability. After the game, the Straw Hats discussed what they will do once they reach Gran Tesoro. Usopp then demonstrated a show for Gran Tesoro in case betting in the casino failed. After watching Luffy and Usopp play around doing sumo wrestling, Franky decided to take Usopp’s place for him to use his strength against Luffy. After a long match, Franky and Luffy decided to use their signature attacks, but Nami interrupted and punched the two because they could have destroyed the ship. Moments later, the Straw Hats approached the City of Dreams.

One Piece Film Gold

The Straw Hats sailed into Gran Tesoro, where they were showered with gold dust at the entrance. They emerged into a harbor filled with liquid gold that was also a concert venue. However, they were suddenly attacked by the Long Long Pirates, who sought to rob them in order to pay off their debt. Nypers and several of his crewmates fired their rifles at Franky, but the cyborg fired a Radical Beam at them, causing them to be blasted away. Nypers’ outfit tore apart, revealing the two men playing as him within as they fell into the liquid gold below them.

The Straw Hats then watched as the proprietor of Gran Tesoro, Gild Tesoro, encased the remaining pirates in gold. The Straw Hats docked, and were approached by Baccarat, who offered them a VIP vacation at Gran Tesoro due to their fame. Baccarat drove them through Gran Tesoro on a turtle car, and took them to the VIP hotel at the heart of Gran Tesoro. The Straw Hats donned new outfits and were ready to enjoy their vacation, although they were approached by a group of children selling flowers in order to repay their debts. Baccarat then took the Straw Hats to the casino, and gave them 20,000,000 worth in casino chips.

Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper immediately entered a turtle car race, and they managed to keep steady during the first part. However, as they drew near to the lead, the Whitejack’s assistant, Kiruko, sprayed a liquid onto the track, causing them to skid and stop. The Straw Hats resumed driving, and approached Kent Beef Jr.’s car, but Pork threw a bale of hay at them, causing them to lose their vision and drive off the track onto a golf course. As they skidded around, Luffy managed to pull the car back onto the track with Gomu Gomu no Rocket, close to the remaining competitors. They then managed to narrowly beat the other racers across the finish line and win.

The Straw Hats continued getting lucky in casino games, and Baccarat took them to the VIP lounge, where they had the chance to become millionaires. The Straw Hats played a dice game hosted by Dice and won, and Gild Tesoro suddenly appeared and challenged the Straw Hats to a game. Luffy accepted, and Baccarat touched him on the shoulder, which unbeknownst to him took away his luck. Luffy lost the game, and Tesoro asked for the Straw Hats’ money. However, Baccarat’s deception was revealed, and the Straw Hats refused, causing Tesoro and his men to retaliate with force.

With his luck removed, a series of unfortunate events plagued Luffy, preventing him from fighting. Tesoro managed to capture Zoro, and gave the Straw Hats until 12:00 the next night to repay their debt, or else he would kill Zoro. The Straw Hats left the hotel, and ran into an old acquaintance of Nami’s named Carina. They and Carina went to a diner to eat, and Carina revealed to them that a large amount of money was kept in a room in the hotel, which the Straw Hats could steal to repay their debt. The Straw Hats agreed to this plan, and witnessed some of Tesoro’s men harass two children, whom no one was able to stop.

They then slept in a hotel room and donned disguises before their mission began. The group congregated outside the hotel, where Carina revealed the plan. Luffy and Franky would sneak into the hotel and go to the room containing a Host Den Den Mushi. They would then disconnect the Host from several Eizo Den Den Mushi overseeing the staircase to the room containing the treasure, which would allow Carina and the other Straw Hats to enter the room undetected. Luffy and Franky then scaled the hotel exterior by climbing on plungers that Franky had shot out of his shoulder.

However, while they were very high up, the plunger they were grabbing on lost its grip, causing them to fall. Franky managed to grab Luffy and propel the two of them up with Coup de Boo, and they reached the giant clock near the top of the hotel. They entered the inside of the clock, and went into the air vents. Eventually, they were right above the Host Den Den Mushi room, and Luffy stretched down to grab a pipe that connected the Host to the Eizo Den Den Mushi. However, he lost his grip on the vent above and fell, causing him to be noticed by security.

As Luffy and Franky battled the security guards, Tesoro and Tanaka arrived. After Tesoro brought Franky down, Luffy engaged him in battle, but Tesoro encased Luffy’s arms in gold and blocked all of his attacks with gold. However, Luffy refused to bend to Tesoro’s will, and an angry Tesoro gave him the chance to continue entertaining him. Tanaka then opened a giant hole underneath Luffy and Franky, sending them falling a long distance. Luffy and Franky fell into a massive golden chamber, where they met prisoners that had no food or drink.

They then met the former Revolutionary, Raise Max, who revealed that the only way out of the chamber was through a pipe system, which led to a room containing a seawater tank that Luffy could use to wash away the gold encasing his arms. However, Max warned them that the room was nearly impossible to reach, but Luffy decided to go there since he had nothing to lose, and Max and the other prisoners reluctantly tagged along. They traveled through the pipes and battled bats, until they reached a vertical pipe with a rapidly spinning fan down below. Max tried convincing Luffy to go back, but Luffy kept pressing on and jumped into the fan. The fan batted Luffy around and injured him, forcing him to be rescued.

However, after seeing Luffy’s resolve, Max took it upon himself to stop the fan, and together with the other prisoners, they managed to stop the fan. Luffy, Franky, and the prisoners then reached the room with the seawater tank, and they opened a hole in it, allowing Luffy to wash the gold off his arms. However, Tesoro intended for them to reach the room as a trap, and he filled the room with seawater to drown them. However, Tesoro’s plot was all a part of a larger plan by Carina, who directed the seawater out of Gran Tesoro’s fountains, freeing everyone on Gran Tesoro from Tesoro’s control. Luffy, Franky, and the prisoners emerged from the fountains, and Luffy and Franky reunited with the rest of their crew.

Tesoro then blew up the hotel and sent a deluge of liquid gold crashing down on them, but Sanji, Robin, and Franky flew their crewmates to safety. Tesoro then confronted the Straw Hats inside a giant gold golem, and Luffy attacked him, but Tesoro managed to overpower Luffy with his massive strength. Luffy was sent flying into the ground, where he was approached by Spandam. Spandam wrapped Luffy in Seastone chains, but as he prepared to deal the finishing blow, a young boy named Rikka ran in and intercepted the strike. Luffy then freed himself from the chains and punched Spandam into the ground, defeating him.

As Tesoro attacked the Straw Hats, Luffy confronted him again, though his blows dealt no damage, and Tesoro continued to overpower him. Luffy then leaped on Tesoro’s arm and ran towards his head, though was suddenly in the midst of a barrage of Marine cannon fire as they shot at Tesoro. Tesoro turned his attention to the Marine fleet, allowing Luffy to take him by surprise and hit him in the face with Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk. However, Tesoro was unharmed and returned the favor by hitting Luffy with Gon Inferno. Luffy was sent flying a great distance back, and received a large amount of injuries.

Tesoro then attacked Nami and Carina, and Luffy resumed challenging Tesoro as he ran back to the battle, managing to rescue Nami and Carina and throw them to safety. Tesoro punched him into the ground immediately afterwards, but Luffy activated Gear 4 and shattered Tesoro’s arm. Luffy then flew up to Tesoro’s face and hit him with Gomu Gomu no Kong Gun, finally knocking Tesoro to the ground. However, Tesoro turned his golem into liquid gold and brought it down on Gran Tesoro, swamping and trapping everybody except Luffy, who was in the air. Tesoro stood on a mountain of gold tendrils and declared himself a god, and an angry Luffy flew up to him. Tesoro attacked him with Gon L’ira di Dio, but after a great struggle Luffy managed to shatter it with Gomu Gomu no Leo Rex Bazooka and finally reach Tesoro, dealing a finishing blow that sent him flying into the Marine fleet. Everyone on Gran Tesoro rejoiced at Tesoro’s defeat, but a timer suddenly appeared, and Carina stated that the ship would sink once it reached zero. The Straw Hats returned to the Thousand Sunny, and quickly discovered that the timer was a ruse in order for Carina take over Gran Tesoro, but held no hard feelings as the Marine fleet chased after them and they were forced to sail away.

Cidre Guild Arc

Out at sea, the Straw Hats were under attack by a group of bounty hunters known as the Cidre Guild and their guns that shot powerful blasts of carbonated water. They managed to escape by blasting off with Coup de Burst, but upon stopping at an island afterward they found that the Sunny’s cola supply had run out. Luffy volunteered to go to the island to buy some cola, and found that it was dotted with pools of carbonated water. A ramune saleswoman named Caramel told Luffy that he could get cola from the factory, but warned him that it was controlled by the Cidre Guild. Luffy raced toward the factory, but was confronted by a Cidre Guild platoon led by Ginger.

Ginger overwhelmed Luffy with a powerful carbonation blast, causing him to fall into a sinkhole and get swept away by an underground river. The river took Luffy to a pool where Boa Hancock was bathing, and the two reunited and started a battle against Cidre himself. Meanwhile, the other Straw Hats were fighting the rest of the Cidre Guild on the coast, but the fight soon ended as the Guild members revealed they had been enslaved by Cidre and so had no loyalty to him. As the crew dealt with the enslaved, Luffy continued his battle with Cidre. After a brief clash, Luffy eventually overpowers Cidre and defeats him. He then sees an invitation to the Pirates Festival land on the ground and Luffy picks it up. The liberated Cidre Guild slaves gave the Straw Hats barrels of cola in repayment for their freedom. Luffy reveals to Hancock that he received an invitation to the Pirates Festival, and bids her a temporary farewell. As the Straw Hats sail back out to sea, Luffy reveals the invitation to his crew, and to their shock, Robin reads that this year’s Expo will include a hunt for Gol D. Roger’s treasure. Luffy is excited to go there, and the crew sets sail to Delta Island where the Expo will be taking place, along with the other crews of the Worst Generation.

During the ending of the East Blue special, the images of the Straw Hats’ future crewmates are seen; with Franky rescuing some of his gang members after they were attacked.

The Straw Hat’s spent a lazy day out at sea on the Sunny, while listening to a Tone Dial playing Uta’s new song, New Genesis. Later, after everyone on the crew showed interest in the singer, the crew begged Luffy to attend Uta’s concert, and the captain agreed, and the Sunny set course to Elegia.

One Piece Film Red

Uta organized a concert on Elegia in order to realize her dream of performing for the whole world. Franky was present during the concert.

Franky’s adventure in Baldimore is extended in the anime. After Franky had learned where he had landed, he got frozen by the cold. The boy and old man who found Franky took him to the hospital where the doctors turned Franky into a gentleman by giving him Darjeeling tea since they did not have cola. Later the boy tried to get his original personality back by putting Franky in the woods filled with cyborg creatures (he got the idea after misinterpreting what the old man said about regaining his wildness). It did not go as planned until a gorilla cyborg started pounding on Franky as he tried to resolve the fight peacefully. The tea he was drinking boiled as a result and Franky regained his personality albeit still low on power since the tea was cooling. After beating up the animals, the boy led Franky to Vegapunk’s abandoned lab. The two broke in which activated the alarm and the two were quickly confronted by a shadowed being.
