Appearance
Summary
Jarul is an elderly giant, thus being much larger than a normal human. Even compared to other giants, Jarul is enormous, being at least twice Brogy's height & somewhat balancing Loki's height. He wears a Viking helmet with curved horns, and his facial beard is so large that it covers most of his body, with its shape reminiscent of a mountain. He wears a dark feather coat. 14 years ago, while standing against Loki, Jarul was stabbed through the head by a sword, which has remained stuck through his cranium ever since. Interestingly, the pommel and handguard appear quite similar to the sword wielded by Harald.

Personality
Summary
Jarul deeply values militarism, as shown when he reminded the young giants on Elbaph that they were warriors above all else. While dedicated to militarism, Jarul is very open-minded as he readily accepted Carmel's claimed ideology in pacifism to engage in commerce instead of plundering. Carrying on with this peaceful transition, he supported King Harald's ideas of reform, where his great-great-grandchildren would be in an era where they would not be burdened with war. He strongly cherished camaraderie and beliefs, as he mourned the death of his lifelong comrade, Jorul, and noted that had he died a warrior's death, it would have been acceptable, hence could not forgive Charlotte Linlin for killing Jorul in a disgraceful manner. His strong respect for Carmel, however, led him to reluctantly spare the little girl's life and allowed them to leave. Jarul says he prefers an older woman. Despite his pride as a warrior, he would nevertheless give in to enemy demands if innocent lives are at stake, as he reluctantly complied with Saint Sommers' orders to burn down the Walrus School and Owl Library in order to stop them from killing 10 children hostages. He also cherished the educational and historical cultures of Elbaph, as he remained tearful and self-blaming for ordering their destruction, even if it was meant to rescue children. Like many other people, he has a unique laugh: "Bojajaja."
Abilities And Powers
Summary
As a former captain of the Giant Warrior Pirates, Jarul is an exceptionally powerful warrior even among the giants of Elbaph, alongside Jorul, he is deeply respected as a hero with Hajrudin showing utmost admiration for him. As a giant, he has tremendous longevity, currently living as a 408 year old individual. Remarkably Jarul has been shown to survive being stabbed with a sword through the head, which he attributes to his helmet despite the blade going all the way through. However, should the sword ever be removed, Jarul will likely die of blood loss. Even in his advanced age, he still seems to be a capable warrior, as he stopped Loki during his killing spree, where 100 other giant guards were killed and Jarul came out the only survivor, along with Loki. As Elbaph currently is without a king, and prince Loki is a condemned criminal, Jarul, in his capacity as an elder, has the highest authority of the country.
Weapons
He was shown using a longsword in an attempt to stab a sleeping Charlotte Linlin.
History
Summary
Some time ago, Jarul and Jorul were the captains of the Giant Warrior Pirates, and the two fought alongside each other for three centuries. However, they eventually left the crew and the title was passed on to Dorry and Brogy. 105 years ago, Jarul and Jorul were present for King Harald's declaration to atone for past misdeeds and learn more about the many cultures around the world, and to bring the knowledge of said cultures back to Elbaph. Sixty-three years before the present day, Jarul and Jorul went to Warland Village on Elbaph together in order to partake in a feast with the residents of Sheep's House before the Winter Solstice Festival. They commended Raideen on training Hajrudin to be a strong warrior. The feast then began, and the villagers partook in eating semla. On the seventh day of the 12-day fast, an incident occurred where Linlin devastated an Elbaph village due to her craving sickness and fatally injured Jorul, the giants were able to calm Linlin by giving her semla. After Linlin fell asleep, Jarul prepared to kill her but Carmel stood in his way, pleading the elder giant to spare her on the condition that she would leave Elbaph with Linlin. Jarul accepted Carmel's terms and angrily told her to leave. He later visited the graves of Jorul and a few other giants. Fourteen years ago, Jarul and Loki were summoned to Aurust Castle by King Harald for unknown reasons. The pair conversed on Elbaph's recent politics, with Loki mentioning that Harald had apparently sold their country out to the World Government. Jarul on the other hand, was indifferent to the matter, and more relieved that his great great grandchildren would see peace instead of war. As the two arrived in the throne room, both were shocked to see Harald being impaled by his own guards. In the ensuing conflict, the gates to the castle were locked shut, Jarul was stabbed through the head, and everyone else present, sans Loki, was killed. Fortunately, he was able to survive the normally-fatal injury, albeit with the sword remaining lodged in his head.
Final Saga
Elbaph Arc
Jarul remains alive in the present day, and later visited his successors and their friends in a party honoring the Straw Hat Pirates. During the festivities, Jarul personally met with Luffy, and explained his surprise at seeing humans who made it all the way up to the Western Village. When asked about the concept of a "Sun God" by Luffy, Jarul explained that Nika was a harbinger of fate that was closely intertwined with two world-destroying events throughout history, although it was unknown if he was the destroyer or savior. Jarul hypothesized that Loki's reason for killing his father was as a result of attempting to mimic Nika's actions, although he was quickly told off by a few of his fellow giants. As the party began to draw to a close, a drunken Usopp approached Jarul and introduced his crewmate Nami to him. Jarul complimented Nami, although when asked about his ideal type of women, proudly stated that he desired an older one. Usopp, still drunk and not realizing what he was doing, told Jarul that a woman older than him didn't exist, and proceeded to smack the sword lodged in Jarul's head. Jarul was left stunned and horrified at the apparent playful act, while the other giants explained that he would die of blood loss if the sword was removed. Before the banquet could continue, a call came in from the Walrus School, informing the villagers that the facility was under attack by monsters known as "MMA", the children were sleepwalking away, and that there was a fire raging on the 8th Branch of the tree. Jarul was drunkenly distressed, as his great-great-granddaughter, Ylva, was a student at the school. When a fire-fighting Svarr was struck down by a massive Draugr MMA, Jarul and the villagers were shocked. Having realized that the situation required immediate action, Jarul quickly sobered up and regained his bearings. Upon being informed by Nami of the God's Knights presence on Elbaph, Jarul dispatched a villager to spread the word, hoping to catch them before they could cause more trouble. When the Straw Hats offered to assist in defending Elbaph, Jarul outright refused, informing them that as guests, they should not have to put themselves at risk. Sometime later, the God's Knights located a Dengo Mushi at the Walrus School, and Shepherd Sommers used it to make a broadcast across Elbaph. Sommers announced that he and his comrades had taken 10 of the giant children hostage, and that Elbaph's primary warriors (namely, Dorry and Brogy), had already been taken down. Sommers then called out Jarul directly, on account of the fact that since Elbaph had no king, Jarul's elder status made him the spokesman for all giants. Jarul was horrified to learn that Ylva was amongst the hostages. Sommers gave them an ultimatum: join the World Government and act as its warriors, or else they would kill their children. Jarul was left with a horrifically difficult choice as Sommers ordered him to have the Walrus School and Owl Library burned down, as a form of acceptance of the deal. Jarul found himself shell-shocked from the demand as the giants around him began to loudly argue over whether or not to go through with it. To make matters worse, a 30 second countdown was also issued as one of the children was dangled over the edge of a branch. As if the decision couldn't be made more difficult, Gunko suddenly forced Ronja to speak. Ronja gave a speech on her belief that Elbaph would be "bothered" by the destruction of the school and library, and that she would be fine losing her life if it meant they could remain. Jarul was put to tears by her bravery, and in the 3 second countdown, issued an order to Ange to set fire to the school and library. Although his fellow giants attempted to console him for the difficult decision, Jarul continued to shed tears as Elbaph's history was burned. Elsewhere, the Giant Warrior Pirates finally arrived to rescue the children from the God's Knights. However, they were unaware that Imu had appeared in the form of a possessed Gunko, and were subsequently unprepared to face their strange abilities. At the same time, Imu unleashed a large burst of Supreme King Haki, knocking out villagers as far away as the Western Village. Moments later, Dorry, Brogy, and at least four of their crewmates were forcibly transformed into demonic versions of themselves, with two goals in mind : to kill Jarul, and declare themselves the new kings of Elbaph. Although the villagers were concerned for him, Jarul refused to flee from the potential battle, reminding them all that warriors never ran from a conflict.
Trivia
Summary
Jarul's name may be based off of "Jarl," which is the name for Earl in Scandinavian languages, as well as a traditional male given name in the Scandinavian countries. Jarul's favorite foods are the giant fish which can be found in the waters around Warland and rum. Jarul is the oldest known living giant at the age of 408, and one of the oldest living beings in the world aside from Zunesha who is over twice his age. Jarul and Brogy are listed as 2050 cm (67'3") and 2130 cm (69'10") respectively, but when they are seen side by side, Jarul is about twice Brogy's size.
