Introduction

Loki is a prince of Elbaph, being the son of King Harald and Queen Estrid, as well as the younger half-brother of Hajrudin. Known as the "Accursed Prince" and the "Shame of Elbaph", he is believed by Elbaph's giants to have killed his father in order to obtain an unspecified Devil Fruit, leading to his imprisonment. Loki refers to himself as the Sun God, a deity worshiped by Elbaph's populace, and claims he will be the one to "end the world". He was once arranged to marry Charlotte Lola, which would have allied Elbaph with the Big Mom Pirates, until Lola ran away. Appearance

Summary

Loki is a very large giant, believed to be the size of Oars, with long, magenta hair. The front of his hair is styled into twin braids, while the back remains messy and unkempt. His body is relatively lanky with long legs and muscular, red tattooed arms. He also sports a pointy goatee, a metallic shell over his nose and tends to leave his tongue hanging out while speaking. Having inherited Ancient Giant blood from his father, Loki sports a pair of long horns extending upwards, with the leftmost one tied in place by a wrapping. In addition, he has eyes with slit pupils and black sclera; a feature that has not been seen in any other giant. Like most giants from Elbaph, Loki dresses in Viking-like fashion, including a black, wide-rimmed helmet that has his horns sticking through, as well as a dark ensemble of gloves, pants, boots, a purple fluffy cape, and a belt sporting a crowned Jolly Roger design worn over his abdomen. Loki also has his eyes covered in bandages, a feature that has been present since childhood. When Loki proposed to Lola, his outfit consisted of a tall crown, a tunic, and a cape.

Personality

Summary

Loki is considered by the residents of Elbaph to be a wicked and dangerous man, having committed numerous deplorable acts, none more infamous than the murder of his father, the king, for the sole purpose of obtaining a Devil Fruit because he desired it desperately. Even as a child, he enjoyed causing chaos, mayhem and destruction to the residents of Elbaph simply for fun. Having inherited Harald's penchant for violence when he was young, Loki is overall violent, and destructive, as he wishes to bring about the end of the world. However, Loki has disputed the assertion that he killed Harald as a premeditated murder. Normally, Loki is jovial and constantly smiling but also tends to be impatient and easily irritated. Loki is a deceptive manipulator, having an interest in making deals that he may or may not honor and provoking others in order to elicit a reaction, all while brushing it off as a joke when met with retaliation. He is also immensely arrogant, proclaiming himself the strongest being in Elbaph, and does not tolerate others speaking in his presence without permission. Being an extremely proud giant, Loki generally has little respect for humans, insulting even those who follow him, and has trouble recalling their names, much like how Luffy sometimes does to other people. He is, however, good with animals, having befriended the wild beasts of Elbaph as a child and relying on them as a way to threaten others into compliance. The one human Loki has ever show admiration for is Rocks D. Xebec, whose crew Loki once wished to become part during his childhood. Loki hates the World Nobles and would rather stay confined in chains than achieving freedom by joining their ranks. Even when he and his animal companions were tortured by Gunko, he refused to submit and remained defiant towards his attacker, wanting instead to channel his accumulated rage into the destruction of the world. As pointed out by his friend, Mosa, Loki seems to have a softer and more compassionate side. However, Loki strongly objects against being portrayed as a kind person, even becoming very furious with his friend, suggesting he does not tolerate being described as "good". Like several other characters, Loki has a unique laughing style: "Dogahaha" (ドガハハ, Dogahaha?).

Relationships

Family

Harald

Loki is the second born son of King Harald. While Harald loved both of his children, Loki did not respect his father as he held contradictory ideals from him by bullying Hajrudin for his impure bloodline. He also strongly disapproves of Harald's pursuit toward making Elbaph a more peaceful and civilized country as well as his cooperation toward the World Government, especially after what they did to Rocks D. Xebec. He even called his father a government dog, showing that the relationship between father and son had becme strained in the past. He would also cause destructive pranks throughout the kingdom whenever his father was absent. Loki would apparently kill his father, allegedly for the sake of the legendary Devil Fruit that the family was guarding. However, Loki claimed he did not do it out of cold blood.

Estrid

The moment Loki was born, his mother Estrid refused to acknowledge him as her son due to finding his physical appearance to be horrifying. Refusing to even hold his hands, she attempted to kill him by dropping him down to Elbaph's Underworld, ordering her servants to claim he died as a stillborn. When Loki survived and climbed back up, Estrid fell ill, and started spreading superstitious rumors that Loki is "cursed" and must be disposed of. Such prejudiced words would greatly damage Loki's future, as the kingdom of Elbaph would blame whatever misfortune onto the so-called "Accursed Prince". It is not known what views Loki may hold toward his mother.

Hajrudin

Loki always held his older half-brother, Hajrudin, in contempt, bullying and mocking him for having a foreigner for a mother, tainting Elbaph's bloodline. Although Hajrudin never let such prejudice get to him, this insult made him hateful of Loki; along with the murder of their father, made him want to kill his younger sibling despite the latter being chained down and critically wounded. However, Hajrudin was shocked when Loki admitted he did not kill their father out of cold-bloodedness, as the rest of Elbaph believed. Hajrudin initially refused to believe Loki, but he gives him three minutes to explain what really happened.

Elbaph Giants

As the prince of Elbaph, Loki was born as a respected individual within the kingdom of giants. His birth was toasted for during the Winter Solstice Festival. However, his existence was soon considered to be cursed by the citizens due to a prophecy that Loki's father, Harald, would be slain by his own son, and calamity started to fall upon the nation as the royal steed died and the hero Jorul was murdered by Charlotte Linlin on the same year of Loki's birth, with the queen (Loki's mother) dying the next year as well. Once his father was absent, Loki would create turmoil for Elbaph with his destructive pranks, one time even setting an entire village on fire. Despite Loki's negative reputation, he had the privilege to propose to the 23rd daughter of Charlotte Linlin, a person hated by the race of giants. Despite their hatred of Linlin, his subjects supported him when he confessed his love to Lola, and Linlin believed that had the marriage been successful, their resentment would fade out of respect for Loki. Consequently, when Lola escaped and Linlin attempted to pass off her twin Chiffon as a replacement, the giants' respect for Loki caused them to further detest Linlin for offending him. Currently, however, whatever respect the citizens had left for Loki has long since vanished due to him murdering his father, King Harald, earning himself scorn and fear in his own homeland, to the point of being considered Elbaph's greatest shame as a result. While resisting arrest, he stabbed Jarul on the forehead with a sword. For his crimes, Loki was sentenced to crucifixion, with Elbaph's strongest warriors having to stay on high alert in order to prevent his escape.

Jarul

His relationship with Jarul can be described as full of contempt as Loki has no respect toward him, going as far as to mock him that if there is a time, he is tired of living. Jarul on the others hand also disapproves of Loki for his opposition toward Harald's more peaceful approach toward Elbaf.

Charlotte Lola

Loki fell in love with Charlotte Lola at first sight. Despite her being the daughter of Charlotte Linlin, a figure hated among the giants, he proposed to her, and arranged a political marriage. However, Lola did not reciprocate the prince's feelings and ran away in order to find her own true love. Lola's rejection of Loki is notable given she would go on to develop a reputation for proposing to thousands of people, often at first sight. Although it is not known why Loki fell in love with Lola, it can be assumed that Loki's love for Lola is more than simply based on her appearance, as he was unwilling to marry Chiffon in her stead.

Monkey D Luffy

Luffy appears to annoy Loki, as the former's excitable and unpredictable nature tends to blindside his own attempts at manipulative threats. Loki has attempted to convince and even enforce Luffy into freeing him, with little success. From his inner thoughts, it is clear that Loki wants to murder Luffy with his own hands, showing no interest in honoring the deal he had himself proposed beforehand. That said, Loki was able to figure out that Luffy has a connection with Shanks, using that information to his advantage in order to gain Luffy's full attention. Despite Loki's inability to fight back, Luffy reacted with aggression when Loki insulted Shanks, losing his usual happy-go-lucky attitude that he had until then and reprimanding Loki for "joking" at Shanks' expense. When he was fed by Luffy, he became afraid of being under his care because of the Emperor's recklessness while angrily annoyed when the later suggest joining his crew so can be release from his remaining chains which Loki utterly refuse.

Shanks

Shanks was the one who captured Loki six years ago. He still holds a grudge towards Shanks up to this day, even projecting his anger towards Shanks's twin brother, Shamrock. Loki has described Shanks as a "coward", although it is unknown if this was entirely meant to rile Luffy up, or if he perceived Shanks' methods in capturing him in that way.

Rocks D Xebec

Loki admires Rocks, whom he met when he was a child. Loki requested to join his crew, and when refused he challenged Rocks to a fight and lost. Despite this treatment from his idol, Loki still reveres Rocks and laments that he was "born in the wrong era" due to only meeting him when he was young. Even long after the death of Rocks, Loki holds animosity towards the Word Government for their role in Rocks' death and scorns his father for associating with them.

World Government

Loki considered the World Government as his enemy for both interfering with his country's affair as well as responsible for killing his idol, Rock D Xebec. Despite his own arrogance, he despised the Celestial Dragons and considered them all as "garbage". When two of the God's Knights came to Elbaph to recruit Loki in their ranks, Loki refused and declared he will never stoop himself down from a warrior to a "trash" as the Celestial Dragons, even if it cost him a chance at his own freedom. Even as Gunko resorted to violence to force Loki to accept their offer by torturing him, he continued to refuse to join them and finally giving them a tongue out. Loki grew to develop hate for the God's Knights in particular after Gunko and Figarland Shamrock presumably killed all of Loki's Underworld beast friends, swearing revenge on them as soon as he was freed from his shackles. In addition, Loki's disdain of the World Nobles even further grew after the God's Knights tortured him and then departed after leaving him to Cerberus's dangerous abilities when they couldn't recruit him to his cause, with Loki cursing Shamrock and swearing revenge.

Abilities And Powers

Summary

Loki is powerful and large even among the giants, being noted to have required all of Elbaph's finest warriors to keep him in check even while imprisoned. He is roughly the same size as Oars making him as big as the Ancient Giants. He considers himself to be the strongest warrior in all of Elbaph and many giants believe that Loki has enough power to destroy the world should he ever be freed once again. When he fought his father King Harald, Loki killed over a hundred giant warriors (some who possessed Ancient Giant blood in them like himself) and his father (who was considered a great warrior and had Ancient Giant blood too), with the only survivors being Jarul and Loki himself. As acknowledgement of his capabilities, the World Government issued a special bounty of 2,600,000,000 on Loki, although the specifics behind why that bounty is considered "special" to begin with is currently unknown. This "special" consideration has led him to being offered a position amongst the God's Knights. As prince of Elbaph, he previously held authority and influence over the warriors and citizens of Elbaph, which is said to be the strongest kingdom in the entire world; this included the privilege of proposing to the 23rd daughter of Big Mom, who was deeply hated by the giants, and the influence to end their resentment, had the marriage been successful. Inversely, anything that slighted Loki prompted hatred from the giants, as evidenced by Big Mom's failed attempt to trick him. Following his sentencing as a criminal and subsequent punishment, however, Loki does not appear to hold royal privileges anymore. Still, in spite of his current predicament, Loki has retained influence over a small group of loyal humans, as well as a number of wild beasts that he claims to have befriended in his childhood. This allows Loki to still threaten anyone into cooperating, assuming they manage to survive long enough in Elbaph's Underworld to meet him. Loki is shown to have strong willpower, as he refused to comply with the God's Knights despite being repeatedly tortured.

Tactical Skills

Loki is reputedly an extremely cunning and conniving trickster who will say anything in order to accomplish his goals. Upon noticing a connection between Straw Hat Luffy and Red-Haired Shanks, Loki provoked Luffy by insulting Shanks, and then used his knowledge of Shanks' whereabouts as leverage in a deal with Luffy to secure his freedom. After being injured by the God's Knights and partly freed from his chains by Luffy and Zoro, Loki demonstrated acting skills by downplaying the severity of his condition and putting on a bluff of being prepared to fight and lay waste to Elbaph if he wasn't freed from his last shackle.

Physical Abilities

Loki's strength is completely monstrous even by Giants' standards as shortly after his birth he was able to survive a fall from the Sun World of Elbaph down to the Underworld far below. As an infant he could slay a gigantic beast down in Elbaph's Underworld by decapitating it, and climbed up the side of the Treasure Tree Adam with his bare hands. At age 10, he was able to single-handedly kill many more beasts in Elbaph's Underworld, as well as control the rest into doing his bidding. Loki has impressive reaction speed and is capable of dodging an incoming Gear 4 strike at point-blank range while bound and blindfolded. Loki's endurance in particular appears to be phenomenal, as he has been chained in seastone for nearly six years, yet has not succumbed to the freezing climate of Elbaph's Underworld and even managed to almost escape at one point. Even after being beaten up repeatedly by Gunko using her Devil Fruit powers and stabbed through the chest by multiple gigantic swords, Loki could stand up immediately after being freed from his chains, lift his hammer and put on a bluff that he was able to fight before succumbing to his injuries. Despite seastone weakening him as a Devil Fruit user, he has said that having only one leg trapped in it would do little to contain his power, and promptly demonstrated this by displaying enough might to swing his massive warhammer without issue.

Devil Fruit

Loki has eaten an unnamed Devil Fruit. Its type and powers are currently unknown, but it is purportedly a legendary fruit.

Haki

Loki's mastery over Haki is unknown but he has been implied to make use of at least Supreme King Haki. After hearing Scopper Gaban's explanation that Supreme King Haki is required to defeat the supposedly "immortal" God's Knights, Loki expressed confidence in being able to defeat them.

Weapons

Loki's primary weapon is a large warhammer named Ragnir. When Loki swings his hammer, he can call down gargantuan bolts of lightning from the clouds to strike whatever he has hit. In the past, he wielded a similar, albeit much more ornate version. In his childhood, Loki wielded a large, spiked club.

History

Past

Loki was born on Elbaph 63 years ago, about ten months after a 5-year-old Charlotte Linlin was left on the island by her parents. Prior to Loki's birth, his father prophesized that he would be killed by his own son. Loki's actual birth was particularly unpleasant. His mother, Estrid, was horrified by his ancient giant features, and ordered the stunned nursemaids to have him killed. When they refused, she threw him from the castle, down into Elbaph's Underworld. Baby Loki somehow survived the fall, and crawled his way back up. His mother couldn't take the sight of him, and fell ill. While bedridden, she once again ordered his death, but was fortunately refused by the guards. She died of her illness a year later, but her words about Loki being "cursed" plagued him for the rest of his life. During most of his early life, Loki would wait for his father to leave before unleashing deadly pranks on Elbaph's giants. At one point, he burned down an entire village while laughing wholeheartedly. Sometime in the past, Loki insulted and beat his older brother Hajrudin, due to the fact that Hajrudin's mother was not from Elbaph, and thus not of "pure" blood. As a result, Hajrudin would grow to hold a grudge against Loki. Around the same time, Loki met with Rocks D. Xebec, who had stopped on Elbaph to meet someone. Loki demanded that Rocks bring him out to sea alongside his crew but was met with flat-out denial. Having nowhere left to turn, Loki asked for a fight, to which he was quickly defeated. Years later, Loki encountered the 23rd daughter of the Charlotte Family, Charlotte Lola, whom he fell in love with at first sight. In an attempt to fix her strained relationship with the giants, Lola's mother Linlin arranged a marriage between them, but Lola ran away due to wanting to marry someone she truly loved. Wanting the marriage to go on anyways, Big Mom tried replacing her with her twin Chiffon, but the giants realized the trick and the wedding was annulled, further increasing the enmity between the two sides. Fourteen years ago, Loki and Jarul were summoned to Aurust Castle by King Harald for unknown reasons. The pair conversed on Elbaph's recent politics, with Loki mentioning that Harald had apparently sold their country out to the World Government, and that he wouldn't stand for it for much longer. Jarul on the other hand, was indifferent to the matter, and more relieved that his great great grandchildren would see peace instead of war. As the two arrived in the throne room, both were shocked to see Harald being imapled by his own guards. In the ensuing conflict, the gates to the castle were locked shut, Jarul was stabbed through the head, someone made off with Elbaph's legendary Devil Fruit, and nearly everyone present was killed, with Loki receiving the blame for the whole ordeal. Afterward, Loki fled Elbaph, but was captured by Shanks six years ago and forcibly returned. Subsequently, he was sentenced to crucifixion by Elbaph's military. He almost managed to free himself at first, but Elbaph's strongest giants were able to work together to hold him down and prevent his escape for the time being by wrapping him in seastone chains across Treasure Tree Adam in the Underworld. During his time chained to the tree, Loki amassed a group of human followers who had also been sent to the Underworld and continued his amicable relationship with the beasts. At one point, Shanks came to Loki and knocked out his followers with Supreme King Haki. The exact details of his interaction with Shanks have yet to be revealed.

Final Saga

Elbaph Arc

While Luffy and his crewmates escaped the Land of Gods, he sensed a powerful, intimidating presence somewhere within Elbaph's mountains and went on to check it himself. Said presence ended up being a chained Loki, who demanded Luffy's name before introducing himself. After a less than pleasant first impression of the Straw Hat captain, Loki attempted to bargain with Luffy for his freedom, promising to destroy any rival pirate crew in exchange. To further ensure that this "deal" would be achieved, Loki had some of his human followers and giants beasts show up to coerce him into action, but Luffy ended up foiling this plan by taming the beasts himself. However, perceiving that Luffy shared a personal connection with Shanks after his subordinates namedropped the latter, Loki was able to catch Luffy's anger and then his full attention after insulting the red-haired pirate. With Luffy showing further curiosity over Shanks' whereabouts, Loki proposed another deal: He would tell Luffy everything he knew about Shanks, as well as his latest whereabouts, in exchange for his own freedom. Luffy accepted and also agreed to keep quiet about their meeting. Sometime after his meeting with Luffy, he sat down with his longtime friend, Mosa, conversing via Den Den Mushi about the latter's latest traumatic experience. Though their conversation started very calm, when Loki suggested he would have done terrible things to the individuals who put Mosa into their current situation, the conversation quickly took a hostile turn after Mosa unintentionally pointed out Loki's kindness behind his harsh words. This made Loki extremely furious with Mosa to the point where Loki promised Mosa retaliation for these words once he was free. Not long after, Loki was confronted by a pair of God's Knights. They offered him a position among their ranks, however Loki simply laughed at the offer in response. Gunko, one of the pair, was greatly annoyed by this, and attempted to use one of Loki's pets as a bargaining chip. Once again, Loki laughed at them, refusing to back down from what he had said, due to his disposition as a warrior. As they were unwilling to take 'no' for an answer, Gunko proceeded to torture Loki until he was "willing" to join their organization. Even as he received another chance, Loki remained strong, defiantly telling the God's Knights that he would never join them, no matter the case. In the end, after being beaten unconscious, Figarland Shamrock decided that Loki was no longer worth the trouble, and opted for another strategy. However, before the two could leave, Loki managed to recompose himself. He demanded to know why Shamrock bore such a close resemblance to Shanks and was surprised to learn that Shamrock was none other than the twin brother of his previous adversary. Loki then issued a direct threat to Shamrock, promising to get revenge for the various giant animals that Gunko killed. Shamrock was outraged at the threat and promptly revealed his sword, which had "eaten" a Devil Fruit. Loki was horrified by the sight of the strange creature and demanded that Shamrock has it return. Loki was forced to remain chained in place as Cerberus launched its three heads into the air. As the three heads stabbed him, Loki cursed Shamrock's name. Sometime later, after going through various shenanigans to recover his key, Luffy and Zoro returned to the Underworld of Elbaph to discover Loki in a severely wounded state. Due to the apparent severity of Loki's injuries, the pair got into an argument over whether or not Loki was genuinely at risk of dying. In order to verify, Zoro unleashed a simple attack on Loki's chest, causing him to yell out in pain. Before he could tell Zoro off, he apparently passed out, causing Luffy to believe that he had died, and Zoro to confirm that his wounds were real. Despite this, however, Zoro still didn't fully trust Loki, and decided to release all but one of his shackles, so they could speak to him. At the same time, Zoro attempted to send Luffy to find a doctor, but before he could do so, the New Giant Warrior Pirates and Sanji fell out of the sky, forcing Luffy to save them. The giants attempted to issue a warning about Loki's deceitful nature, however it was too late, as Zoro had already undone most of the shackles (save for the one around Loki's left ankle). To the horror of everyone, Loki proceeded to rise to his feet, and equipped himself with his hammer. Loki ordered the Straw Hats to take off the last shackle, stating that even with it on him, he would still be powerful. He proved his point when he struck the Treasure Tree Adam with Ragnir, summoning a lightning strike that started a fire on the island. Deciding to test his luck again, Loki offered the group one last chance to undo his last shackle, else he would go on a rampage in the Sun World. Hajrudin eventually broke from the pressure, but before he could fulfill Loki's demands, Luffy unleashed a quick attack, causing Loki to collapse, as his bluff had failed. Luffy begged the giants to save Loki's life, informing them that the two of them had unfinished business, to which Gerd complied. While treating him, Gerd revealed that Loki's wounds were exceptionally severe; by her estimate, it would take him months to fully recover. They explained that taking him to the village was off the table, as the giants there would likely call for his execution, and at the same time, informed the group of Loki's ancient giant heritage. While Loki continued to rest, Hajrudin could no longer contain his anger toward his half-brother, and attempted to kill him himself. Loki proceeded to insult and goad Hajrudin, but also questioned if he actually believed that he had killed their father, causing confusion to those around him. In order to quicken his recovery, the Straw Hats and New Giant Warrior Pirates hunted and brought back provisions so that he could eat. Simultaneously, Loki informed his captors that the God's Knights were the cause of his injuries, and that the World Government was sticking its nose into Elbaph's business. Luffy, after receiving a large chunk of meat, and hoping that Loki could recover quicker, attempted to feed it to Loki, but instead only caused him to be burnt from how hot the food was. Loki became a mixed of enraged and concerned for his own health as Luffy attempted to bring him boiling soup, causing him to beg his fellow giants to keep the Straw Hat captain away, although he was too late. After recovering from soup burns, Loki revealed that he had not been lying about knowing Shanks' current location, but refused to give up any further information, as he was still shackled. Loki sympathized with Luffy's desire to see his idol, and regretfully brought up his meeting with Rocks when he was still a child, leading him to the conclusion that he was born in the wrong era. Afterward, Luffy and Loki seemed to overcome their differences, at least for a moment, and ate to their hearts content. While eating, the conversation shifted back to the subject of Harald, with Hajrudin demanding more details as to what truly happened 14 years prior. Loki continued to taunt him in response, leading to a short argument between the pair, although they quickly stopped upon noticing Gaban and Chopper fall from the Sun World. Loki sensed the pair as well, directing Luffy and his friends to their location. In the meantime, Mosa suddenly called Loki again, shocking the former prince. Loki quietly requested they speak later, but Mosa regretfully informed him that it wouldn't be possible, due to unforeseen circumstances. Loki attempted to dissuade him, but Mosa had made up his mind, and thanked Loki for being his friend, before hanging up. Nearby Gerd teased Loki on having made an actual friend, leading to him angrily demanding that she not tell anyone. Immediately afterward, the Straw Hats arrived with Gaban, who also had been severely wounded by Gunko. Chopper warned them of an impending threat up above, and sure enough, Imu's Haki appeared from above, shocking everyone from its strength. Loki on the other hand, laughed at the absurd strength of it, before declaring that they'd most certainly need his great strength to stop the World Government. While the other New Giant Warrior Pirates set up the lift to head back to the Sun World, Loki once again demanded to be set free, on the grounds that they'd need his great strength to defeat the God's Knights. Hajrudin scoffed at the offer, enraging Loki at his brother's apparent lack of pride for defending his homeland without the help of foreigners. Hajrudin fired back with his belief that Loki would likely backstab them and join the government, just as he apparently did fourteen years prior. Before they could argue further, Luffy suddenly joined in, and proceeded to offer Loki a spot in his crew. Loki spat at Luffy's offer, appalled by the very idea of becoming anyone's underling. Hajrudin attempted to deny Luffy's request, on the grounds that Loki was a criminal, however Gaban suddenly chimed in, ordering Hajrudin to release his brother. Gaban mentioned that the Haki coming from Aurust Castle that day was unnatural, and that it was likely they hadn't gotten the full story about what happened. Still skeptical, Hajrudin gave Loki three minutes to explain what had truly happened that day. Loki was less than enthusiastic at being forced to recall the events of his father's death, but digressed, and proceeded to explain what had really happened that day.

Trivia

Summary

Loki shares his name with the Norse god of mischief Loki. Aside from his godhood, Loki was also said to be a Jötunn, a race of giants. The character's name may also be a reference to Utgard-Loki, a Jotunn whom, unlike the Norse god of mischief, is the ruler of Utgard in Jotunheim, the homeland of the giants (his name translates as "Loki of the Outlands" specifically to distinguish him from the god Loki). Loki's tall horns may be a reference to the iconic horned headgear worn by Loki Laufeyson from Marvel Comics' Thor, who also was based on the mythical Loki. Loki's imprisonment for murdering a figure of high status (in his case his father Harald) appears to mirror that of the Loki of legend, who too was imprisoned for his role in the death of the god Baldr in Norse mythology. This event would be one of the main catalysts for Ragnarök, a foretold series of battles and disasters that would lead to the world's destruction. Loki's bandaged eyes may be a reference to the mythical Loki getting his eyes burned by the venom dripping down from the fangs of a serpent during said imprisonment. At the Walrus School one of the students made of drawing of Loki while the group was talking about their greatest fears. Later on, a distorted construct of Loki was created by Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Kirin abilities possessed by Rimoshifu Killingham, and used to attack the school. Unlike the original, it had a full beard and wielded a thin sword alongside a more simplistic version of Ragnir. Scopper Gaban also noted that this imitation of Loki was weaker than the original, likely due to being born from a child's imagination that is ignorant of Loki's true strength.
