Introduction

Trafalgar D. Water Law, more commonly known as just Trafalgar Law (トラファルガー・ロー, Torafarugā Rō?) and by his epithet as the "Surgeon of Death", is a pirate from the North Blue and the captain and doctor of the Heart Pirates. He is one of twelve pirates who are referred to as the "Worst Generation". He became one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea during the timeskip, but his position was revoked for allying with the Straw Hat Pirates. Like many other pirates, Law has dreams of finding the One Piece, while also desiring to know the purpose of the Will of D. Law is the only known survivor of Flevance, a town whose inhabitants suffered from a condition known as Amber Lead Syndrome. Because the disease was fatal and poorly understood, Flevance was destroyed by neighboring countries out of fear (including Law's parents and younger sister), with a young Law barely escaping alive. He subsequently joined the Donquixote Pirates, where Donquixote Doflamingo intended to make Law one of his executive officers. However, thanks to the efforts of Doflamingo's brother, Rosinante, Law was freed from the Donquixote Pirates' influence and became a pirate set to bring down Doflamingo's empire. During the timeskip, his bounty increased from 200,000,000 to 440,000,000 before it was frozen due to his induction into the Seven Warlords of the Sea. However, after having his title revoked during the events of the Dressrosa Arc, Law's bounty was reinstated and raised to 500,000,000. Eventually, his bounty would be raised to 3,000,000,000 for his role in taking down Big Mom of the Four Emperors alongside Eustass Kid during the Wano Country Arc. Law joins forces with the Straw Hat Pirates for a brief moment during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc and later on saves Luffy's life at the very end of the Marineford Arc. He is one of the central allies of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Dressrosa, Whole Cake Island, and Wano Country Sagas. Appearance

Summary

Law is a slim young man with tan skin and a very tall stature. He has faint shadows right under his yellow eyes (grey in the anime), and his face is usually seen with a smirk. He wears a northern-style fur hat, which is white and has a spotted pattern along the bottom and the bill. He has very short dark hair, a majority of which is obscured by his hat, save for his sideburns and a small goatee. His hair color is depicted as black in both the anime and manga, though sometimes the manga depicts it as blue mistakenly. He has many tribal-style tattoos on his arms; on both of his hands are letters spelled as D E A T H tattooed in black on each of the back of his fingers. Originally in the manga, his right hand was not tattooed while his left thumb had the letter A missing. Later on, all of his fingers were tattooed completely with all five letters. He also has a black cross on the back of both of his hands. On his chest, he has a tribal-style heart tattoo with his Jolly Roger on it. He has a simpler heart tattoo on his shoulders and his Jolly Roger tattooed on his back.

Before The Timeskip

He is seen wearing a yellow hoodie, with black sleeves and a black hood. The hoodie has his Jolly Roger printed on the front of the chest area in dark ink, and he keeps the sleeves rolled up. Law wears a northern-style fur hat that has a rim running all around it. It is white and has a black dot pattern along the rim and lower areas of the hat. Law also sports a pair of jeans with odd dots on both the knee and ankle areas, similar to the ones on his hat, but darker in color. He sports a pair of dark, pointed shoes. He has a pair of small earrings on each ear. In SBS Volume 64, Oda drew the Supernovas as children. Law is shown with his fur hat and his faint shadows right under his eyes but wore the uniform for the medical academy he was attending: a blue lab coat with a red tie, dark blue shorts, and green shoes. He was also holding a scalpel on his right hand and a frog on his left hand, since he was already in training to become a surgeon with his father being his teacher. After escaping Flevance, Law lost his tie and lab coat, his shirt underneath became more raggedy, and his shorts had white spots on them. Because of his heritage, he inherited the Amber Lead Syndrome that accumulated throughout the generations of Flevance, which left his skin white and pallid until he obtained his cure.

After The Timeskip

In Oda's depiction of the Supernovas post-timeskip, he seems to have lost the fur rim of his hat, and replaced it with a thick bill, turning it into a rather spherical hat resembling a Wool Skipper. His goatee has become somewhat scruffier, and his right hand now also has the fingers tattooed. He now wears a yellow t-shirt similar in appearance to his old hoodie. He wears a black hoodie over the t-shirt, which features his Jolly Roger on the chest area in yellowish-orange ink. The sleeves of the hoodie are no longer rolled up, and it now has a fluffy fur collar. During the Punk Hazard Arc, Law wears a long black coat with his crew's Jolly Roger along the hem and on the sleeve. While sailing to Dressrosa with the Straw Hats, Law wears a blue feather-collared sweater with his jolly roger on the front. During the Dressrosa Arc, he wears an open black coat with a hood that features the word Corazon on the back. During his second confrontation with Doflamingo, Law's right arm was cut off. It is later reattached by Leo and healed by Mansherry. During the Zou Arc, Law changed into a dark, short-sleeved shirt with a light-colored heart pattern on the lower left side. He also bears stitch marks on his right arm after it was reattached by Leo. During the Wano Country Arc, Law wears a black and white yukata with his two Jolly Roger, an orange sash, a brown jittoku with yellow five-petal flower patterns and spots, and zōri. He briefly wears a tengai to hide his identity from his enemies such as Hawkins. During the Raid on Onigashima, Law wears a yellow dress shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a blue captain's cloak with a fluffy fur collar. Afterward, Law switches the yellow shirt for a white tank top but keeps the coat.

Trafalgar D. Water Law/Personality And Relationships

Introduction

Personality

Summary

While still a young boy attending a doctor's academy in Flevance, Law was a very kind and devoted child, refusing to leave his family behind despite falsely promised evacuations at hand, and aspiring to become a great doctor like his father while happily going to festivals with his beloved little sister. Upon the destruction of his homeland, the annihilation of his classmates and family, and diagnosed with no more than thirty-eight months to live, Law suffered a mental breakdown and, according to Doflamingo, came to be known for being very cruel and nihilistic, intending to join the Donquixote Pirates so he could "destroy everything around him". Only after having been cured of his illness by Corazon did Law have a change of heart. Present Law is an extremely laid-back yet scheming man, who is nearly always seen calmly smiling when not put into a tense situation. Not eager to directly clash with potential enemies, Law prefers to be patient and only act when the time is right, choosing to stay out of unnecessary conflict and wait for a valuable opportunity to further his goals, like his deliberate choice to not rush his entrance into the New World and subsequent promotion into the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Also, while Law does not like starting or being involved in commotions that may attract unwanted attention towards himself, he enjoys spectating the chaos initiated by others, like a fight between two other Super Rookies or the destruction the Straw Hat Pirates were bringing to the Human Auctioning House in the Sabaody Archipelago. After the timeskip, Law does not smile as much anymore, displaying a more cautious, observing expression on his face. In fact, he tends to only smirk when feeling pleased that a plan went as intended or while attempting to provoke an enemy. That being said, Law has a bolder attitude when faced against other infamous pirates, especially his peers from the Worst Generation. For example, he casually asked X Drake how many people he had slain in his very first appearance and had no qualms about rudely gesturing to Eustass Kid, the most wanted rookie pirate on the Sabaody Archipelago who had a reputation for killing people for the most minor of reasons, even smiling defiantly when doing so. Law has also done this same gesture towards Donquixote Doflamingo both to provoke and display his contempt for his former captain, despite being close to death and threatened at gunpoint at the time. Reflecting this boldness, Law self-admittedly hates being ordered around; however, he is reasonable enough to understand when his immediate crew and are in a pinch, not being above resorting to brief alliances with rivals if it meant survival. Surprisingly, belying his usual cool attitude, Law can be quite prideful and even childishly competitive, particularly when next to Luffy and Kid.

Ruthlessness

Despite having his life saved by Rosinante, Law remains incredibly hardened by his tragic past in his adulthood, leading to several rumors that present him as a cold and heartless man. Scratchmen Apoo stated that Law was infamous for his cruelty, and one of Smoker's men claimed he cut out the hearts of one hundred pirates and sent them to the government in order to gain the position of Warlord of the Sea. In battle, Law is sarcastically merciful, using his powers to mutilate his enemies without fatally harming them, before toying around with their bodies in a mocking fashion. After bisecting Tashigi in a similar manner, his only response was disdain, ruthlessly disregarding Tashigi's pride and honor as a swordswoman (through a statement that he took from Doflamingo). He even offered to strike her down if she really wanted to die that badly. That aside, many of Law's callous moments tend to come from pragmatism and not wanting to deal with burdens and distractions that may difficult his goals, describing, for example, the kidnapped children of Punk Hazard as such. Law is very blunt when responding to people and usually does not bother himself with excuses or apologies for his words and actions. Rosinante's sacrifice also led Law to a path of revenge against his benefactor's brother, Doflamingo. Even though Rosinante gave his life to ensure a young Law escaped from Doflamingo's clutches, Law himself set out to finish what his mentor had started with a plan of his own, becoming obsessed with the idea of taking Doflamingo down personally. After taking Caesar Clown prisoner, Law orchestrated a scenario where he would end up directly confronting his former crew, something Doflamingo himself pointed out as unnecessary since Law could have just let a war brew between the Donquixote Pirates and Beasts Pirates, leading to the demise of the former. This proves that despite his general pragmatic approach to everything, Law is capable of reckless decisions for the sake of his own feelings, even declaring that dying would be fine for him if it meant ensuring Doflamingo's downfall.

Kindness And Personal Code

Despite Law's terse and rather unkind demeanor towards others, he still retains strong compassion and kindness (even if reluctantly), which he originally had as a boy, while regaining them due to Rosinante's influence. He decided to help the Straw Hats find a cure for the children affected by Caesar's drugs after some persuasion, even though he originally did not want to be involved with them, and later voluntarily cured the same children of their deadly poisoning and addiction for NHC10 in a similar fashion to how Rosinante saved him from dying of Amber Lead Syndrome. Law, however, dislikes showing this side of him to others since the very idea of pirates being nice to civilians disgusts him. Just like Chopper, Law is a doctor and dedicated to saving lives, thus he avoids employing lethal force and abhors the idea of needless murder (the only exception so far being his arch-nemesis Doflamingo, who Law did not hesitate to try killing). He is also an honorable man who refuses to take credit from others' actions, acknowledging that events like Jean Bart's release and Doflamingo's defeat were thanks to Luffy. In general, Law seems to have little regard for fame, stating that he was not interested in having a bounty of 500,000,000. However, he is interested in the mystery surrounding the Will of D. of which his name carries, as he believes that to be the reason Rosinante went to great lengths to save him. Like Luffy and some other male Straw Hats, Law seems to be amused by "cool" things, like ninja and robots. Upon meeting Raizo, Law joined in along with the other Straw Hat males in taking part of the fun of the ninja's display of tricks and abilities, even so much as to request a specific technique, though it appeared he tried to stay deadpan to hide his excitement. Also, according to himself, Law is a huge fan of the comic strip Sora, Warrior of the Sea, being able to instantly recognize Sanji's Raid Suit. Because of the comic, Law hates Germa 66.

Relationships

Family

Law was very devoted to his parents and his sister, Lami, and even refused to leave with the other children when they were evacuating. Law claimed that his father was the best doctor in Flevance, and the man was responsible for educating Law in medical science. The murder of his family devastated him, especially his sister's, marking his change in disposition from kind and compassionate to cruel and cunning. Descended from the family of D, Law's initial is supposed to be a secret that has been with the family for generations, while "Water" is his "true name". He kept such parts of his name secret from most people, going only by the commonly known "Trafalgar Law".

Childhood Friends And Classmates

During his childhood in Flevance, Law was studying medicine in an academy with many other students. Although a few students seemed irked when Law was holding a dead frog, they were nevertheless very close friends, as when the soldiers of other countries falsely promised that the children may leave, they protested when Law would rather stay behind for his ailing sister and parents. Along with the children is a nun who was very kind and friendly towards Law. When all of his classmates and the nun were shot dead by the soldiers, Law broke down in tears.

Crews
Heart Pirates

He is very open to new crewmates, as illustrated when he asked the ex-slave pirate captain Jean Bart to join. It has been shown that his crew admires Law and has respect for him, as they abide by his orders regardless of what they are. When Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin met up with Luffy, they were excited to hear that Law was also on Zou. Law also cares about his crew as after they were captured by the Beasts Pirates, he wants to rescue them and glared at Shinobu when she suggested silencing them to prevent the Beasts Pirates from getting any information out of them. He also has great faith in them, refusing to believe that they would betray the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance. Law is willing to go as far as to turn himself in to Hawkins in exchange for his crew to be released. Law met the pirate captain-turned slave Jean Bart right after parting ways with both Luffy and Kid during the Celestial Dragons Incident, where, rather than heading immediately back to the Heart Pirates' vessel, Law instead retreated back to the Auction House where Jean Bart was, and, with his World Noble masters put out of action, Law invited Bart to be part of his Crew, to which the latter immediately agreed, expressing his gratitude, with Law only replying that he should give half his thanks towards Luffy. He appears to be quite loyal towards his liberator, executing any command Law may issue to the best of his ability. He and Bepo have an extremely close relationship, having met in Swallow Island during their childhood and Law protected the bear mink when he was being bullied by Shachi and Penguin. Out of gratitude and admiration, Bepo swore loyalty to Law becoming one of the co-founders of the Heart Pirates, serving as Law's navigator. Bepo does not object to Law reclining on his soft body. Law also lets him carry his nodachi around for him. Bepo happily hugged Law upon reuniting in Zou. After his defeat by Blackbeard, Bepo saved his captain's life, even at the expense of the rest of the crew. Bepo appears to know Law's full name.

Donquixote Pirates

Law is very familiar with most crewmembers of the Donquixote Pirates, since he joined the crew 16 years ago. Everyone in the crew came to regard him as an enemy because he unexpectedly ate the Ope Ope no Mi, and due to his defection following the second Corazón Rosinante's death by his older brother Doflamingo. He, however, is not familiar with Sugar, who joined sometime after his defection, and with Violet who joined 3 years later. On the other hand, he was familiar with Monet, as during the time he was an affiliate of Caesar and she was his secretary they regarded each other as allies, like with Caesar, until Law's personal treason was confirmed. Since Law knows them, he knows about their skills, personalities, and what Devil Fruit abilities they have. Giolla felt that the traitorous Law should be punished with death. In return, Law has no qualms about holding her hostage, as he held her at sword point when Doflamingo closed in on Nami, Chopper, Brook, Sanji, and Momonosuke on the Thousand Sunny. He then released her when Doflamingo confronted him on the iron bridge. When Luffy and Zoro escaped with the former carrying a seastone-shackled Law, Senor Pink, Dellinger, and Machvise did not hesitate to attempt killing him. Dellinger once called him "Brother Law" as a remembrance of their history together, but still attacked him, nonetheless. Presumably, Law seems to be aware of Dellinger being half-fish-man, as he tried to warn Luffy not to underestimate him. Law is also aware of Pica's sensitivity of his high-pitched voice, as he told Luffy that laughing at Pica's voice means death after he attacked. During his second confrontation with Doflamingo, Law pointed out that his past training consisted of learning swordsmanship from Diamante, marksmanship from Gladius, and martial arts from Lao G. Law also knew Baby 5 and Buffalo since childhood, as Law was a fellow new recruit who journeyed to Spider Miles to join up with the Donquixote Pirates. Him and Baby 5 initially didn't get along very well, with Baby 5 scolding Law for his boldness in threatening Corazon. Law, in turn, had a tendency to glare menacingly at her when annoyed and making her cry, sending the tearful Baby 5 scurrying to Buffalo for comfort. However, after learning of the Amber Lead Syndrome and Flevance's doom from Gladius, Lao G, and Senor Pink, Baby 5 became more sympathetic towards Law. He and Buffalo seemed to be on good terms before Law defected, but was shocked when Buffalo learned Law stabbed Corazon in the back. However, Law bribed him with ice cream to keep him quiet. After he defected, Baby 5 and Buffalo were frustrated at his betrayal. Even into adulthood, Baby 5 continues to be frightened by his glare, even to the point of still crying and clinging to Buffalo. However, after reforming, they appear to have returned to friendlier terms, due to having joined the same coalition of pirate crews, while Buffalo still remained as his enemy especially given the fact that he was beaten by Kyros.

Allies
Straw Hat Pirates

Several of the other Straw Hat Pirates did not trust Law and were against an alliance with him at first, particularly Usopp, Nami, and Chopper. Robin supported Luffy's choice, but also warned him about a possible betrayal. By contrast, Zoro approved of Law's goal to defeat one of the Four Emperors, while Brook, Sanji and Franky eventually accepted Luffy's decision. Both Usopp and Sanji warned Law that his idea of an alliance was different from Luffy's. Law tends to become either appalled or deadpan whenever the Straw Hats engage in their usual carefree antics. Usually cool and collected, despite his best efforts to keep them focused on their mutual goals, Law has occasionally been drawn into their nonchalant "pace" and was shocked when he realized it. However, Law thinks highly of the Straw Hat Pirates, stating that they were a group capable of performing miracles. Nami once stated that Law was almost as reckless as Luffy, doing whatever he wanted and never listening to anybody. Law doesn't refer to some of them by their names. He either uses their epithet, such as calling Luffy "Strawhat-ya" or Sanji "Blackleg-ya", or by using his own made-up nicknames, such as calling Usopp "Nose-ya", Franky "Robo-ya", and Brook "Bone-ya". He does, however, refer to Zoro and Nami by their given names, calling them Zoro-ya and Nami-ya, and Chopper and Robin by their surnames, calling them Tony-ya and Nico-ya. Law first encountered Monkey D. Luffy in the Human Auctioning House, where the latter gained his attention after striking down a Celestial Dragon in front of everyone. Like Kid, Law smiled at Luffy's defiance of the consequences. He seems to have some respect for Luffy, as shown after defeating the Marines outside the Human Auction House. Also, he and his crew traveled to Marineford during the Summit War of Marineford to assist with Luffy's escape, and then later administered medical treatment to him. As he said, while Luffy would one day be his enemy, an enemy relationship is still a relationship and that it would be a "damn shame" for Luffy to die at Marineford. After the timeskip, Law encountered Luffy again at Punk Hazard, with the latter being pleasantly surprised to see Law, despite being unaware of Law's Warlord status at the time. When Luffy said how grateful he was, Law stated that he does not need to be thanked as it was just a "spur of the moment" thing, and that as fellow pirates, the two of them still remain rivals. In spite of his previous claim to Smoker that he would annihilate Luffy, he did not attack Luffy in any way and even told him where he can find his other crewmates. Later, he helped Luffy save Nami from the Yeti Cool Brothers and proposed an alliance between their crews, with the ultimate goal of defeating the Emperor Kaidou. Luffy agreed, making their crews allies in a relationship (which Luffy perceives to be as practically a friendship, but Law sees as more of a professional agreement). Luffy often treats him very casually, like a good friend, something which Law usually frowns upon. Law has invested enough in this alliance that, despite it having nothing to do with their agreement, he decided to help Luffy and his crew save the kids on Punk Hazard, even though he himself only viewed them as a burden. He also has a lot of faith in Luffy, as he asserted to Doflamingo that Luffy would capture Caesar without a problem. Law does seem to have some doubts about Luffy's reliability and carefree attitude. When Luffy sent Caesar flying instead of capturing him as he was supposed to, Law remarked that he knew he should not have formed an alliance with him and resorted to trying to capture Caesar himself. However, after Luffy put his faith in Usopp and Nami to incapacitate the deranged scientist, which they did, he expressed satisfaction that Luffy upheld his end of their agreement. Later, he also objected to Luffy's decision to throw a party instead of leaving Punk Hazard, as he believed they were still vulnerable, though he still reluctantly joins them and has stew with Smoker. Though Law indicated that he wished to 'use' Luffy when forming the alliance due to the Straw Hats' great unpredictability and ambition, he instead feels like the one being used. Having had his arm severed and faced with near impossible odds against Trebol and Doflamingo, he was given a chance to have any wish granted as long as he performed his Devil Fruit's "Perennial Youth Operation" on Doflamingo. Rather than take the opportunity, he instead berates Doflamingo for underestimating Luffy (among other things), and boasts about the various miracles that the Straw Hats have performed up until now. This highlights a deep trust in Luffy, which is uncharacteristic of the strictly professional relationship that he originally intended to establish with the crew. When Law was brought to the Flower Field as Luffy fought Doflamingo, he stated that it was his fault that Luffy was brought into this matter due to the alliance. He was willing to share whatever fate Luffy suffered as a result, even death. Robin, however, corrected him by saying that Luffy would have joined voluntarily because of Doflamingo's deed. Law deeply respects Luffy for his role in Doflamingo's downfall, as shown when Law informed Bepo that it was Luffy's doing. When Luffy agrees to help the Mink tribe and the Kouzuki Family take down Kaidou, Law feels slighted at not being asked for input, questioning Luffy about his faith in him. During the Wano Country Arc, the one thing that deeply concerns Law is Luffy's tendency to get into trouble and he even berated Luffy for complicating Kin'emon's plan due to his desire to do good. When they reunited with each other in Bakura Town, Law was exasperated and annoyed that Luffy and Zoro picked a fight against the Beasts Pirates before the plan could start. He is also extremely annoyed by Luffy's penchant to tell him what to do, since he does not want to be perceived as his henchman. After successfully take down Doflamingo, Kaidou and Big Mom, Law officially ended his alliance with Luffy and set sail on their own. A very notable trait from Luffy towards Law is the way he nicknames him. Luffy seems to be unable to pronounce his surname "Trafalgar" correctly, hence he calls him "Tora-o" (トラ男?), which is a portmanteau of the "Tra" in "Trafalgar" and the Japanese kanji for "male". This is often localized as "Tra-guy" in some subtitled media, or as "Traffy" in the VIZ manga, the FUNimaton dub, and in the videogame Pirate Warriors 3. It's often common for other people closely associated with Luffy (mainly his crew) to also call Law by this nickname, and so far Law himself seemingly takes no offense to it. Like Luffy, Law shares the title of Super Rookie and Worst Generation with Roronoa Zoro. They first met at Sabaody Archipelago and both sides helped one another fight off the Marines that were attacking them. They met again two years later where Law offered an alliance with them. Zoro trusted Luffy's judgement enough to go along with this and worked closely with Law in their shared efforts. In the aftermath of the Dressrosa incident and the declaration of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, Zoro can be seen forcing Law to partake in the festivities. In Wano Country, Law and Zoro's relationship is slightly similar to the relationship Zoro has with Sanji. Law was annoyed with Zoro not keeping a low profile and not sticking to the original plan along with him wreaking havoc with Luffy in Bakura Town. Aside from this, Law respects Zoro as a fellow swordsman. By the time they fought Kaidou and Big Mom atop the Skull Dome at Onigashima, Law and Zoro had come to respect and trust each other as teammates, with Law having assisted and saved Zoro's life multiple times, once stating that the lives of his allies were the top priority. Zoro entrusted Law to defeat Kaidou in case neither him nor Luffy managed to take him down. Law and Sanji have a respectful enough relationship. During the Dressrosa Arc, Sanji was the one who informed Law about Doflamingo's trickery, and Law, in turn, saved Sanji's life when Doflamingo himself fought the Straw Hat cook. Sanji was the only person who seemingly had an idea about Law's ulterior motives regarding their scheme to take down Doflamingo, but did not question it further. Being a lifelong fan of Sora, Warrior of the Sea, Law dislikes Germa 66 based on the comic he read growing up. Upon seeing Sanji's Raid Suit that resembles the fictional antagonist Stealth Black, he expressed shock and his dislike for the comic's antagonists. Sanji, also disliking Germa despite using the suit, demanded Law to never call him "Stealth Black" ever again. Law seems to have formed a neutral relationship with Chopper, who in return seems to have a certain level of respect for Law, partly because the reindeer finds Law's Devil Fruit powers "cool". Law and Robin have a good relationship, stemming from their more serious personalities and similar background. When Law was cornered by Doflamingo and Fujitora, Robin was very concerned about the situation. Law trusted Robin enough that he told her his full name, revealing his connection to the family of D. and making her the only Straw Hat member to know this, a fact that Robin appreciates. During the Summit War of Marineford, Law rescued and treated Jinbe's injuries even though he had no obligation to do so. After recovering, Jinbe gratefully thanked Law for his assistance and stated he would not forget his debt. Right before the raid of Onigashima began, Law was shocked to learn that Jinbe had joined the Straw Hats, but welcomed his assistance in the battle against Kaidou and Big Mom.

Donquixote Rosinante

Donquixote Rosinante, better known to Law as Corazon, was Doflamingo's younger brother and an old friend of Law's. Their relationship started out very negative when Corazon left a poor first impression by clumsily falling for childish pranks set by Baby 5 and Buffalo before throwing Law out of a window supposedly because he hated children. This only worsened as Law considered Corazon to be too foolish to have the right to live, when Law's family and friends all died, and went as far as to break the crew's law by stabbing Corazon from behind. Even though this murder attempt failed, Corazon did not bear any grudge against Law and kept quiet about the incident. However, after learning Law's true name, Corazon became much more open towards Law, and revealed everything that he was keeping a secret from Doflamingo as well as the "true nature of the D's". At first, this trust backfired, as Law decided he was going to tell Doflamingo everything Corazon revealed to him, but instead he decided to even his terms with Corazon who had never told Doflamingo that Law stabbed him. Corazon then took Law hostage as he set out on a quest to find a cure for Law's Amber Lead disease. He took the young boy to various hospitals across the sea, attacking anyone who showed prejudice against Law. After 6 months without making any progress towards his goal, Corazon started to feel some regret for his actions, realizing they had all been in vain and had only reminded Law of his traumatic past. As he tucked a sleeping Law into a blanket, he shed tears as he recalled the time Law stabbed him. He could tell how much Law was suffering, and since that event, Corazon only wanted to help ease Law's pain and anguish. Law, who had woken up, overheard Corazon and also began to weep, due to finally finding someone who understood him. Following this, their relationship was much more friendly, as the next day, Law began referring to Corazon as "Cora-san," much to the latter's surprise. Corazon did eventually succeed in giving Law the eventual power to heal his Amber Lead Syndrome after feeding him the Ope Ope no Mi, to which Law looked up to him greatly as a result. Even after learning of Corazon's membership in the Marines, Law held no ill will against Corazon, despite his hatred of anyone who is a part of the Government. As Corazon was about to die, he told Law he loves him and, after having been murdered by Doflamingo, Law cried uncontrollably as his cries were only heard after Corazon's death (due to his power to silence his sounds fading after being used). Law honored Corazon's last wishes and defected from the Donquixote Family, swearing revenge against Doflamingo for murdering Corazon. Law would also later name his crew the Heart Pirates in honor of Corazon, and designed his Jolly Roger based on Corazon's smile to remember him smiling. Law is even willing to go to war against Kaidou, one of the Four Emperors, if it means he can avenge Corazon's death and challenge Doflamingo head on to the point of sacrificing himself in order to avenge him. He also reacts both violently and ruthlessly to anyone who insults Corazon in even the slightest way, as when Doflamingo spoke harshly about his brother, Law retorted by brutally assaulting Doflamingo with his Countershock move while condemning Doflamingo as a monster. By far, Corazon was the only person who brought out Law's more positive and caring traits ever since his mental breakdown, and despite Law's claim to infamy during his adulthood. It was also from him that Law learns of his true nature as a "D." and takes his secret name into a high and truthful regard. Upon speaking with Sengoku about Rosinante's memories and past, Law felt guilty that he misinterpreted why Rosinante would give so much to save his life, and how he spent 13 years for the sake of revenge that disregarded the life Rosinante worked so hard to save. Realizing that Rosinante simply wanted Law to live freely, Law decided to live up to that.

Rivals
Summary

As a Supernova, he sees the other 100,000,000+ bounty rookies he encountered in the Sabaody Archipelago as his rivals, though he seems to be focused more on Kid, and especially Luffy. He, Kid, and Luffy have all agreed to meet again in the New World. Outside of the Supernovas, Law seems to earn the enmity of those with whom he engages in battle, mainly swordplay specialists, who regard his ability to cut down enemies without actually killing them an insult to being a swordfighter. Law also seems willing to cooperate with rivals in order to defeat a stronger enemy. The other Supernovas believed him to be a government dog for becoming a Warlord, but quickly change their opinions after seeing him captured on Punk Hazard.

Eustass Kid

In contrast to Luffy, Law's interactions with Eustass Kid were nowhere near as hospitable. In the manga, he flipped Kid the finger when Law (presumably) overheard Kid talking behind his back regarding rumors of how Law's manners appear to be rather lacking. Later on, when Kid volunteered to deal with the Marines amassing outside of the auctioning House as a farewell gift to Rayleigh as well as the Straw Hats and the Heart Pirates, both Law and Luffy took Kid's cockiness as an insult and opted to follow him outside in order to compete with the fellow super rookie. When Kid insisted that he alone is sufficient enough for the task and orders the other two to step down, Law was the first to retaliate by stating he will take Kid out first should he order him about one more time. Nevertheless, he once again allied with Kid after the two crews were confronted by a Pacifista. Their interactions in Wano Country demonstrate that they are still prone to arguing as Law insults Kid for taking too long to defeat a Beasts Pirates ship. Law formed a temporarily team up to defeat Big Mom together. As they were about to leave Wano, Law gave Kid a rubbing of Kaido's road poneglyph showing his gratitude for help during the Raid on Onigashima. Law was soon provoked by Kid into racing him down at the waterfall.

Basil Hawkins

Hawkins and Law are enemies who confronted each other several times throughout the Wano Country Arc. Hawkins held a particular interest in Law's capture due to him being one of the co-leaders of the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance, while Law himself avoided Hawkins in order to keep a low profile for the sake of Kin'emon's plan, at least until his crewmates got caught, leading Law to confront Hawkins directly. They first engaged in a brief skirmish at Bakura Town, in Kuri. There, Hawkins noted their alliance had infiltrated Wano Country and mused that Law wanted to kill him to prevent him from informing Jack. After Kaidou's rampage throughout Kuri and Luffy's defeat against the Emperor, Hawkins once more pursued Law, being able to interrupt him from rescuing Luffy. Later on, after Bepo, Shachi and Penguin were caught by Orochi's forces, Hawkins used their lives against Law during a new confrontation at the Flower Capital. Law offered himself in trade of his subordinate's lives, allowing them to run free while Law endured torture from Hawkins. After X Drake released Law from captivity, Hawkins was ambushed by the surgeon and cut down after being forced to reveal some information.

X Drake

Law and Drake have an interesting relationship, having their fates somewhat interconnected since the incident at Minion Island, as Drake deserting his father's crew indirectly allowed Law to escape from Doflamingo's Torikago alive, although neither character was likely aware of the other. At Sabaody, Law was at the very least familiar with Drake, asking about his prior body count. During the Wano Country Arc, after Law was imprisoned at the Flower Capital, Drake allowed him to leave his prison cell, risking his rank within the Beasts Pirates in order to do so. Law decided to not question Drake's motives further and simply left after dealing with Hawkins.

Enemies
Donquixote Doflamingo

Law used to be a subordinate of Doflamingo's. Law and Doflamingo got along quite well, as Doflamingo viewed him as his little brother, and stood up for him when Giolla believed his sickness to be contagious when it wasn't. Doflamingo even declared his intentions to turn Law into his right-hand man, promising to find a Devil Fruit to cure him and make it possible. Buffalo also stated that Doflamingo was saving the "heart seat" for him. However, Law later discovered how little Doflamingo actually cares for him and, after the latter revealed to Corazon that he intends to "educate" Law to die for him via brainwashing through the Ope Ope no Mi's immortality operation, coupled with Doflamingo murdering Corazon, who saved Law's life by giving him his Devil Fruit to cure his illness, Law defected from Doflamingo, swearing to avenge Corazon's death. After the betrayal, Doflamingo wanted Law to die in such a terrible manner that he would regret ever being born. The two would already be eternal enemies towards each other due to Law's nature as a "D." and Doflamingo's status as a former World Noble, something Corazon was already aware of. In turn, Law manages to turn the tables on Doflamingo by taking Caesar hostage, threatening his former captain's alliance with Kaidou, leading Doflamingo to hate Law deeply. Because of Law's betrayal, Doflamingo had shown utter ruthlessness towards him in battle, such as shooting him point-blank with a flintlock loaded with lead ammunition, a cruel reference to Law's Amber Lead Syndrome he had as a boy. Law's hatred for Doflamingo is so strong that even in the face of death, all Law did was give Doflamingo the middle finger and used the "wish" offered to insult him. After Robin and Cavendish brought an injured Law to the Flower Field, Law stated that he wanted to watch the end of this battle, as he waited thirteen years for Doflamingo's downfall and would like to see it with his own eyes. Law then stated that if Luffy was to be defeated, he would go down with him. His wish to see Doflamingo fall was granted when Luffy finally defeated the Warlord, ending his empire and avenging Corazon.

Vergo

Law had a past relationship with Vergo, who knew the Warlord ever since the former's childhood. When they first met, Law was unaware of the fact that Vergo was an undercover pirate disguised as a Marine, and he begged him to save Corazon. This was a costly mistake since once Vergo learned of their betrayal to the crew, he violently assaulted them both. On this occasion when Law infuriated Vergo, the latter had brutally assaulted Law to the point of inflicting trauma on the young pirate solely because he did not call him "Vergo-san". After meeting again at Punk Hazard, Vergo mocked Law by beating him unconscious without hesitation and demanded that Law show respect to him by adding the honorific suffix -san when addressing him , inflicting tremendous pain onto him when he refused. Via orders by Doflamingo, Vergo plotted to execute Law in the most brutal manner possible, and Vergo further suggested cutting off one of Law's ears as proof of his death. Law returned the favor to Vergo by cutting him into many pieces upon his defeat. Law also had no qualms about leaving Vergo to die in the SAD room, as a final revenge.

Caesar Clown

The two of them do not appear to be very open with each other. While Caesar demands Law to explain his actions against Smoker, Law says that he is the one who should be complaining. Based on Law's words, especially on what he stated to Luffy: they both have something they want to get back, their relationship is not very civil. Caesar does not seem to trust Law, as he quickly thought Law betrayed him. He also wanted to shoot Law at first, though he decided against that Law probably did not betray him, afterwards. Law is disgusted by Caesar’s methods towards the children. Later, Law and the Straw Hats express their intention to kidnap Caesar. As for Law, he only wants Caesar because of his ability to create SAD. It also appears that Law has a great deal of knowledge about Caesar's true ambitions to oppose the World Government. Caesar stated that he thought they could have become good friends while confronting Law for his betrayal. After Caesar's defeat, Law uses him as leverage to coerce Doflamingo to resign from the Seven Warlords of the Sea.

Trebol

It is unknown what Trebol thought of Law while the latter was his crewmate, but given that Trebol highly respects his fellow crew members it is highly likely that he respected Law too. However, this ended after Law deserted the Donquixote Pirates, and Trebol now considers Law an enemy to be eliminated. Trebol, alongside Doflamingo, confronted Law and Monkey D. Luffy at the rooftops of the Royal Palace. He enjoyed seeing Law suffer as he openly attacked Law multiple times, happily cheered when Doflamingo sliced Law's arm off with his "Itonoko" technique and held down Monkey D. Luffy so that Doflamingo could kill Law without interference while repeatedly telling Law to give in to his injuries and die. Law had no respect for Trebol and the other executives, stating that he had no desire to associate himself with the likes of Trebol and insulting the role of the Donquixote Family's Executive Officers by claiming that their loyal actions were simply the work of puppets being manipulated by Doflamingo. This notably offended and enraged Trebol, who then tried to personally kill Law himself. This ended up being Trebol's undoing though, as Law took advantage of his lowered guard in order to heavily wound him. After this, Trebol cursed Law as he tried to blow himself up along with him, showing that his hatred for his former crewmate had reached its peak.

World Government And Marines

Since childhood, Law despises the World Government due to their refusal to help the people of Flevance, and anything connected with the global bureaucracy. This only worsened when the Government spread lies about how Amber Lead Syndrome is a contagious disease, leading to the majority of the world to believe it and taking a prejudiced attitude towards a young Law. Before the timeskip, Law was considered an enemy of the World Government since he is a pirate who battled a large number of Marines and a Pacifista at Sabaody Archipelago and rescued Monkey D. Luffy, a nefarious pirate at large, at the climax of the Battle of Marineford. However, after Law gave the hearts of a hundred pirates to the government, they enlisted him into the Seven Warlords of the Sea and seemed willing to overlook the fact that Law fought alongside Luffy at Sabaody Archipelago and later helped him escape the Marineford War. As one of the Warlords, Law is an ally of the Government. As such, he has special privileges to do as he pleases without the Marines attempting to arrest him. Like many other Warlords, he is not afraid of disobeying the government for his own convenience as he entered Punk Hazard with full awareness of it being off-limits in order to use Dr. Vegapunk's laboratory and has no qualms in killing Marines if they get in his way so long as it remains unknown. He openly battled the Marines at Punk Hazard as well as allowed Luffy to escape the clutches of Vice Admiral Smoker, despite being a Warlord at that point. Law cooperated with Caesar Clown, an enemy of the Marines, so he could get a better chance of crippling the production of SAD. He later forms an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates to dethrone one of the Four Emperors, Kaidou. From the other side, Law seems to be knowledgeable enough of the World Government’s attempts to mutate people into giants so that they can use them to create an army. After declaring his alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates, his position as a Warlord was put in jeopardy and he was immediately attacked by Admiral Fujitora and Donquixote Doflamingo. After the event on Dressrosa his bounty was raised to 500,000,000, indicating that his position has been officially revoked. After Kaido and Big Mom's downfall, Law's bounty was increased to 3,000,000,000, making him one of the most wanted criminals within the Worst Generation (besides Luffy, Kid and Blackbeard).

Sengoku

When Sengoku arrived in Dressrosa, he and Law shared in their grief over Rosinante's death, as both were close to him. Despite Law being a target at the time, Sengoku had no intent to capture Law, instead telling him to keep living as Rosinante would have wanted.

Kaidou

Law was aware of Kaidou's deal with Doflamingo and used this knowledge to forge an alliance with the Straw Hat Pirates, knowing that Luffy would attempt to take down the Four Emperors. Law used Kaidou's threat in order to force Doflamingo's hand and have the Warlord and Dressrosa ruler resign from his position, as part of his personal revenge plan against his former boss. With Doflamingo's defeat, Law continued with his original scheme to take down Kaidou alongside the Straw Hats. As with Luffy, Kaidou became enemies with Law after finding out that the two pirates had destroyed his SMILE production. Like Luffy, Kaidou wants to kill Law, but does not consider him to be a real threat. He went to Kuri to apprehend them upon finding out they were present in Wano, but after defeating Luffy, Kaidou postponed his search for Law. During the raid on Onigashima, Kaidou grew to respect Law's strength, particularly his usage of the Ope Ope no Mi, which Kaidou had trouble defending against.

Charlotte Linlin

Aside from Kaidou, Law also became enemies with Big Mom. Law was one of the supernovas who knocked Big Mom towards the ocean. Law took an interest in taking Big Mom down. Much like Kid, Law also declared that Big Mom had no place in the new era due to her being a nuisance while he is trying to do or learn something due to her disturbance, as Law wished that Big Mom would just go away. Big Mom seemingly did not take Law seriously until he and Eustass Kid managed to severely injure her. The resulting damage was enough to impress the Emperor, who then started to acknowledge their threat, even going as far as sacrificing some of her own life to gain additional power so she could crush the two. Law declared to Big Mom that her era was over. In the end however, Big Mom's efforts were still not enough to take down both Law and Kid, who both showed no fear at all towards her status as one of the Emperors, meaning they are immune to her Soul Pocus as well for Law declared that he was looking forward to hearing Big Mom's last gasps. Law used silence just so Big Mom would not be able to call out her Special Homies. Once Law and Kid managed to launch her down into a crater, Big Mom, confident that she would not die, swore that they would pay.

Marshall D Teach

After Law left Wano, he and his crew were attacked by Blackbeard and his crew. Law demanded from Blackbeard to state his intentions and after knowing what Blackbeard wanted to steal from him, the copies of the Road Poneglyph now that Kaidou and Big Mom are gone, Law wasn't intimidated as he decided to face Blackbeard 1v1. Even when fighting Blackbeard, Law did not show any sort of fear and even mocked Blackbeard and his crew for relying on their Devil Fruits but did not underestimate him and his fighting abilities. However, he and his crew were completely decimated by the enemy crew. After emerging victorious over Law Blackbeard began to ponder whether to sell the Ope Ope no Mi, use its powers for his own or perhaps keeping Law alive to force him of making Blackbeard immortal. Fortunately for Law, Bepo saved his captain and escaped from the Blackbeard Pirates by swimming to the ocean.

Others
Boa Hancock

Because of his willingness to help Luffy during his time of need, Hancock put much of her faith in him. She provided Law and his crew with food and shelter on her island under the terms they did not enter her city. Law also has shown to be among the few men who seem to have no interest in her beauty.

Brownbeard

Due to his defeat by the hands of Hawkins, Brownbeard came to hate the pirates from the "worst generation". The only exception from that is Trafalgar Law because he gave him new legs. He is extremely grateful and loyal to both him and Caesar, referring to them as "kindhearted gods". When Brownbeard was captured by the Straw Hats, he was sure that Law would come and save him. It is currently unknown what Law thinks about Brownbeard. However, he completely ignored Brownbeard when he asked Law to save him which shows that Law has no concern for Brownbeard though he expresses no opposition to temporarily cooperating with him in order to defeat Caesar.

Kinemon

Kin'emon once held a grudge against Law for cutting him to pieces while he was searching for his son. Kin'emon later abandoned his grudge after cooperating to free his son and defeat Caesar and going to Dressrosa with the Warlord to rescue a comrade. Kin'emon calls him Law-dono, a respectful honorific. At Dressrosa, Kin'emon was horrified to see Law got shot and even attempted to save him from Doflamingo and Fujitora but was repelled by the opposing forces as a result.

Raizo

Law was interested in Raizo, upon hearing that he was a ninja by Kin'emon. Upon meeting the shinobi, like the Straw Hats who adjured him to perform various ninja arts that they came up with in their imaginations. Law asked Raizo if he can do a clone jutsu which the ninja had eventually performed along with other ninja tricks.

Cavendish

Due to being one of the pirates of the Worst Generation, Cavendish despised him for stealing his fame, and as such, wanted him dead. However, due to Law's alliance with Monkey D. Luffy and his oath to abandon his grudge due to being returned to human form by Usopp. Cavendish lets go of his resentment against the two Supernovas and cooperates with them to defeat the Donquixote Family. Cavendish later joined Law in watching the final battle between Luffy and Doflamingo, stating that if Law is determined to die if Luffy is defeated, it would only be after he dies protecting him. After Law's arm was reattached, they were seen having a casual conversation with Cavendish stating Luffy and Law's actions with Doflamingo would lead up to a major event with Law confirming this fact as his goal.

Bartolomeo

Despite their mutual affiliation with Luffy, Bartolomeo treats Law with his usual disdain. He openly told Law that he threw his bounty poster away, but Law seemed to be apathetic to Bartolomeo's derision. Bartolomeo also refused to give Law provisions when he asked for some until he said it was for Luffy.

Mink Tribe

Law expresses his trepidation about the residents of Zou, knowing that Kaidou will start another incursion on the already wounded country once he learns about the location of the Straw Hats and Heart Pirates. In return, the Mink Tribe emotionally felt touched with how considerate their saviors are, wondering if they are really pirates.

Shinobu

When Law's crewmates were captured by Orochi's forces, Shinobu became angry from the plan being ruined and suspected Law's crewmates leaking the information. When Shinobu suggested to silence and kill his comrades to prevent an information leak, Law became angry at her and decided to rescue his crewmates himself to prevent Shinobu from killing them and told her that he would not forgive her for doubting his comrades. When Law had not shown up prior to beginning the raid on Onigashima, Shinobu did not care whether he joined the fight or not. Their relationship between each other is strained due to Shinobu's extremist thinking for killing Orochi and would use any means necessary to make sure the plan to kill him succeeds, even if it means silencing allies to prevent an information leak.

Introduction

Overview

Summary

In his youth, after Law realized he was dying, he went to Doflamingo to join the future Warlord of the Sea's crew, planning on causing as much devastation as possible to the world before dying. Doflamingo accepted Law, and while part of the Donquixote Pirates, he learnt marksmanship from Gladius, martial arts from Lao G and swordsmanship from Diamante, in Doflamingo's hope that they would find a cure for Law and raise him into being the third Corazon. Law is shown to have a very strong will as he, along with most of his crew, proved resistant to Rayleigh's burst of Supreme King Haki that took out almost everyone in the Auction House. This feat caused Rayleigh to comment on him being a fearsome pirate. He was also able to withstand the clash of Supreme King Haki between Luffy and Doflamingo. Like Jinbe and Eustass Kid, Law is also immune of Big Mom's "Soul Pocus" when showing he has no fears towards the Emperor. Even Donquixote Doflamingo commented to his subordinates at Punk Hazard about Law's potential while comparing it to Luffy's, which Doflamingo witnessed himself during the war at Marineford two years ago. Doflamingo saw talent in Law and intended to make him into his right-hand man. He reserved the Heart seat for Law, showing that the latter is considered on the same level as the elite officers of the Donquixote Family. Vergo was only able to keep ahead of Law because he had the latter's heart at the time, a situation that immediately reversed after Smoker (reluctantly) helped Law to retrieve the organ. He is also apparently quite fearless, as he allowed several Marines to get within close-range of him on Sabaody Archipelago, despite being a long-range fighter. During their stay at Sabaody Archipelago, the Kid Pirates and Heart Pirates were caught in a battle with a Pacifista. The end of the battle was unseen, but since they reappear during the Marineford Arc, it can be assumed that they either defeated the Pacifista or managed to elude it. Kizaru mentioned that the Heart Pirates did a good job at running away. Sometime during the timeskip, Law became so powerful and infamous that even the ruthless G-5 Marines were deeply fearful of him. His bounty soon surpassed Luffy's at the time, and brought a hundred pirates' hearts to the World Government, earning his position in the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Law battled and defeated Smoker, a Vice Admiral and Logia user without getting injured. He later defeated Vergo in one move, whereas in the past, it was impossible to hurt him because of his powerful Armament Haki. In Dressrosa, he was strong enough to face and counter attacks from the Admiral, Fujitora, and fellow Warlord, Doflamingo at the same time; then dealt severe damage to the latter near the end of the arc, but could not defeat him. In Wano Country, Law was able to injure the Emperors, Kaidou and Big Mom, both being known for their nigh-impenetrable durability throughout their battle, earning recognition from them. During both his and Kid's fight against Big Mom, his awakened powers were able to deal significant damage to the Emperor who soon empowered herself with a year of her lifespan, while wielding her special Homies, Hera, Prometheus, and Napoleon, all of which had become stronger and more in-sync. In the end, due to their joint efforts and nullification of her Devil Fruit powers, he and Kid were able to defeat Big Mom, the fearsome Emperor. Having defeated the former Emperor, Big Mom, Law gained a bounty of 3,000,000,000, making him one of the most dangerous pirates in the world; with his new bounty matching that of the current Emperor and rival, Monkey D. Luffy. Although Law's improved power and skills allowed him to fight—and even damage—the Emperor Blackbeard and his crew, Law proved no match for Blackbeard in the end.

Physical Abilities

Summary

In addition to his Devil Fruit, Law underwent an extremely rigorous combat training regimen under the Donquixote Pirates as a child, attaining incredible superhuman physical prowess. While still a twelve-year-old boy, he was already strong enough to throw Rosinante, a very tall and large man, by grabbing him by the leg. Additionally, he has the physical power to block Doflamingo's extremely powerful Overheat string which shook the Thousand Sunny with just his sword. He easily wielded Kikoku, a sword as tall as himself with great speed, and is able to slice enemies faster than they can react as well as keep up with Doflamingo. Law is very skilled at hand-to-hand combat, having been trained in this aspect by Lao G. In the anime, Law was able to hold his own against Luffy, an extremely powerful fighter in a fist fight, when Breed forced Luffy to fight Law through the Peto Peto no Mi. With Armament Haki, Law could block against Doflamingo's Goshikito with his arms crossed in a defensive stance. Even at age 13, Law could defeat both Penguin and Shachi, who were bullying Bepo, a mink who is a natural born fighter, impressing them to the point they swore loyalty to him.

Durability And Endurance

Law has displayed immense levels of physical endurance, as he had his heart directly crushed to the point where he lost consciousness, only to recover shortly afterwards. In addition, he was also capable of enduring a prolonged brutal beating from Vergo which resulted in him becoming severely bloody before defeating him in a single blow once Smoker had retrieved his heart. Even as a child dying from the incurable Amber Lead Syndrome, Law was able to endure Rosinante throwing him from the top of a tall building into a pile of junk, as well as keep up with the very harsh training regimen of the Donquixote Pirates of which even adults could not keep up with. Even when his disease reached a fatal stage, he could survive two ruthless beatings from Vergo. Even when he was defeated and injured by Donquixote Doflamingo and Admiral Fujitora, as well as pinned to the ground by Fujitora's Devil Fruit power, Law was able to quickly recover and escape. During his second confrontation with Doflamingo, Law was able to fight him and, even though he was still wounded from their first encounter as well as having his right arm severed while being brutally assaulted further, he was able to continue fighting and deal Doflamingo a severe wound with his Gamma Knife move. Also, even though Law was incapacitated by Trebol, he was still able to use his Devil Fruit powers to control his severed arm as well as defeat the officer. During the Raid on Onigashima, Law took multiple hits from the two Emperors, who'd started taking them seriously and from Kaidou in his human-beast form. Once taking Big Mom's Tenman Daijizai Tenjin later taking Kaidou's Raimei Hakke but having enough strength and stamina to continue challenging Big Mom, something that Luffy couldn't previously do. Law continued taking blows from Big Mom before and after entering her empowered, giant form, but had enough stamina to continue on, while also using his awakened powers, then using his strongest techniques thus far to deal a devastating blow.

Medical Expertise

Summary

Since childhood, Law was already well versed in medicine, having attended an academy for medical science, while his father, the best doctor of Flevance, personally taught him the more intricate procedures. Even after he joined the Donquixote Pirates, he still retained a profound understanding of medical science, as he was able to use the Ope Ope no Mi to remove all traces of the Amber Lead inside his dying body. This was noteworthy as he was able to find a cure for the poisoning that was said to be incurable and live past the age he was supposed to die at. His medical aptitude was what led Donquixote Rosinante to conclude that Law was most compatible with the fruit, which prompted him to secure the Ope Ope no Mi for Law after he received information from both his brother and Sengoku of the fruit's present whereabouts at the time. Law earned the nickname "Surgeon of Death" due to his immense surgical skills in addition to his formidable combat abilities. He was able to simultaneously operate on both Luffy and Jinbe right after both of them barely escaped a murderous Akainu who inflicted brutal life-threatening injuries that left them on the brink of death and was successful in treating them. The mere fact that he was able to stabilize Jinbe's condition strongly hints that Law's medical expertise is not limited to human anatomy alone (though human and fish-men share the same blood, so it is possible that they have similar anatomies). He later volunteers to find a cure for the children's condition at Punk Hazard, showing that he is also very knowledgeable in pharmacology. The fact he was able to apply pharmacology knowledge into his Devil Fruit powers so as to remove most of Caesar's deadly NHC10 drug out of the children's bodies, though not completely, is a noteworthy feat and is something even Chopper was amazed by. The spatial powers given to him by the Ope Ope no Mi allows Law to perform even the most complicated and difficult surgeries perfectly with great ease, as they allow him to cut a patient's body open and remove organs without damaging any tissues, leaving scars, or causing the patient to bleed a single drop of blood while removing any disease-causing impurities as well as poisonous substances and narcotic drugs from the patient's body. This was demonstrated, off screen, during the conclusion of the Punk Hazard Arc, in which he had treated the children with a series of surgeries that involved cutting the children's bodies apart in a manner that initially made Chopper believe he had killed them. As a boy, Law was able to remove all the poisonous Amber Lead inside his dying body thus curing himself of the Amber Lead Syndrome while proving his capability to use the Ope Ope no Mi for treating even incurable diseases. Law could also apply his medical knowledge of anatomy into his Devil Fruit powers for combat, such as aiming his Sterben technique directly at Trebol's real body which kept hidden under a large amount of mucus disguised as a large body or precisely removing important and delicate organs of powerful enemies such as the heart which would render them vulnerable to lethal harm such as death, which was proven when Law extracted Monet's heart with his power and gave it to Caesar, who fatally stabbed Monet's heart while bypassing her defensive powers as a Logia user, effectively killing her, Law, as well as Sanji and Capone Bege, was able to keep Caesar who is also a Logia user and a dangerous criminal under complete control due to having taken his heart hostage which was removed in a similar fashion, and the fact he used his anatomical knowledge to invent the Gamma Knife technique on his Devil Fruit which could fatally rupture and destroy the internal organs of even a Warlord of the Sea like Doflamingo further proving the fearsome way Law could actually weaponize his medical knowledge. Likewise, he also managed to pinpoint Kaidou's heart in his Dragon form to cause him significant damage with his Gamma Knife.

Tactical Skills

Summary

Law is a very crafty and opportunistic leader and also a highly skilled strategist, being the only member of the Worst Generation to voluntarily rest in the Paradise half of the Grand Line for at least two months before entering the treacherous region of the New World, proving great caution and tactical preparedness. He obtained the title of Warlord of the Sea in order to avoid detection of his actions and easily sail through the New World. While in Punk Hazard, Law secretly swapped numerous Seastone chains with ordinary chains as a future precaution that proved to be critical in allowing him to stealthily escape from Caesar's cage that is about to be exposed to the deadly Shinokuni gas. As Vergo noted, Law concocted a multi-layered plan to cripple Doflamingo's SMILE trade by destroying the SAD production facilities on Punk Hazard as well as abducting Caesar, the only person who knows how to create the unique substances. Through this plan, Law managed to force Doflamingo, an extremely cunning and resourceful pirate in his own right into an utterly disadvantageous choice of quitting the Seven Warlords of the Sea and facing the Admirals or keeping his position and face Kaidou's wrath. He was able to fool Doflamingo into believing he killed him by swapping places with a foot soldier when the latter shot him repeatedly and retaliated when the latter's guard was down. When badly weakened, Law resort to tactically defeat Trebol, tricking the latter into letting his guard down to finish him off with his Sterben technique. When Kin'emon's original plan had been exposed by Kanjuro, Law was able to instantly formulate a backup plan, taking advantage of Luffy and Kid's headstrong and reckless nature to create an effective diversion while using it as an opportunity to transport the Nine Red Scabbards to Kaidou's residence by sea using the Polar Tang and his Devil Fruit powers.

Devil Fruit

Summary

Law ate the Ope Ope no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit which allows him to create a sphere of light blue aura, inside which he can manipulate the fabric of space. He can manifest this aura sphere over a very wide area; however, he cannot move the sphere once he's conjured it, he would instead have to dismiss the sphere and create a new one in a different location. Furthermore, Law has to concentrate in order to maintain and use his power, and unlike most Devil Fruit powers, Law's powers directly take a toll on his stamina. Inside the aura sphere, Law can exert complete control over the fabric of space, referred to as the ability to "operate" on anything within the spherical "operating room"; he can move things within the area of the sphere telekinetically and make things, including himself and other people, swap locations via teleportation. However, he cannot move other people with strong Haki very far, as they possess more resistance to Law's power. He can also swap incorporeal things, such as souls, resulting in the victims' swapping bodies. He is also able to cut things from a distance and without actually damaging them, as well as reassemble things into various combinations; he can even attach living body parts to inanimate objects. Living things cut into pieces by this power remain alive and still able to move, even if the head is removed from the body. Law can use his power to generate high voltage energy; he can generate electrical energy to shock his opponents, and he can generate a blade of energy that he can use to damage his enemies' internal organs without leaving an external wound. This power can also be used for medical purposes; Law can completely remove harmful matter, such as drugs and diseases, from organic tissue. Additionally, he can attach new body parts to a person's body to replace destroyed body parts. He can also use his power to scan anyone within the sphere in a manner similar to an X-Ray machine.

Awakening

Law has achieved Devil Fruit Awakening, allowing him to conjure a variety of special room spheres that are applied directly to specific objects instead of a designated area, meaning those rooms move alongside whatever they are currently covering. With K-ROOM, Law can adhere a miniature room to his weapons, which then gain the ability to extend as far as he desires, harmlessly bypass anything solid and directly operate on the insides of whatever they may phase through. With R-ROOM, Law is able to create and throw a room on a particular object and dictate a specific effect to take place in it, like erasing any sound made by the object in question. This directly addresses one of the fruit's biggest weaknesses, which is the stationary nature of its regular field of range. By Law's own admission, he has not fully mastered his awakened powers and using them takes a serious toll on his stamina.

Swordsmanship

Summary

Law is a master swordsman, as he was trained rigorously by Diamante at a young age. Law is extremely skilled in wielding his Nodachi Kikoku, a sword about as tall as he is. Even without using his Devil Fruit abilities, Law is capable of fighting even a Vice Admiral such as Smoker, as he is able to clash against his jitte with little effort and even block extremely powerful long-range attacks such as Doflamingo's Overheat. In contrast to the ranged slashes of traditional swordsman, Law's sword slashes don’t travel but simply provide the cutting effect while his spatial manipulation within his ROOM provides the range. Through spatial slicing, he can dismember people without harming them and attach separated parts in any manner he sees fit. Law's swordsmanship combined with his Devil Fruit powers enable him to mutilate numerous people at once faster than they can react, easily defeating Kin'emon, a master of Foxfire Style and one of Wano's most powerful samurai in this manner. He easily defeats Tashigi, a highly skilled swordswoman of the Marines, severing her sword in two in one slash, as well as taking down Scotch and his giant knife in one swift move. He also managed to mutilate Trebol, an enormous man and also one of the strongest members of the Donquixote Pirates. Law's greatest swordsmanship feats shown so far have been defeating Vergo, one of the strongest members of the Donquixote Pirates, where the wake of his slash was capable of cutting apart Caesar's laboratory and the surrounding mountains and cutting a meteor in half. Law also managed to wrap the rope created by Donquixote Doflamingo's attack around his sword. He was able to use his sword to quickly parry bullet strings shot at him by Doflamingo.

Marksmanship

Summary

Law is an apparently skilled marksman, as he was trained by Gladius in wielding firearms while he was younger. He apparently uses this skill with his Injection Shot technique.

Haki

Summary

Law is able to utilize both basic Haki-types. However, he rarely uses either in combat, being more reliant on his Devil Fruit abilities. Pre-timeskip, Law was aware about the nature of Haki, being knowledgeable about Supreme King Haki, having seen Silvers Rayleigh knock out the hostiles inside the Human Auctioning House, leaving the non-hostile active. After his fight against Kaidou and Big Mom, he learned that intense enough Haki can counteract the effects of Devil Fruits, something he managed after the battle against the effects of Doc Q's Shiku Shiku no Mi, showing that his Haki has also gotten stronger from that intense battle.

Armament Haki

Law is an extremely skilled user of Armament Haki. As he could bypass Smoker's smoke body, thus resulting in him being able to take down the Vice Admiral. Law later hardened his arms to block Doflamingo's Goshikito, which is powerful and sharp enough to slice Fujitora's meteorite and also took out a large portion of the palace, without getting injured at all.

Observation Haki

Law is an highly skilled user of Observation Haki. During the Raid on Onigashima, Law demonstrated great skill in this type of Haki as he was able to sense that Luffy was defeated by Kaidou, and was also able to sense Luffy's Devil Fruit Awakening.

Weapons

Summary

Kikoku is a large version of the typical Japanese sword type known as a nodachi. It has an oblong-shaped handguard coated with short white fur, sheathed in a black scabbard decorated by white crosses from the opening to the bottom, and with a small piece of red rope tied near its opening. Law appears to be quite skilled with it, being able to slice up targets from a distance (although this effect is attributed to his Devil Fruit power). Due to its size, Law usually carries this sword over his shoulder (in contrast to the other sword-wielding characters in the series, who either carry theirs on their hips or over their backs); yet in other times, he delegates one of his crewmates (namely Bepo) to carry this sword for him. Law was able to deflect Doflamingo's strings with his sword, which is noteworthy, as Doflamingo managed to effortlessly cut everything else so far.

Trafalgar D. Water Law/History

Introduction

Past

The Tragedy Of Flevance

Law was born twenty-six years ago, in the country of Flevance in the North Blue, which was known as the "White City" for the color of the Amber Lead that was mined there. He lived there with his parents, who were doctors and were likewise training him, and his younger sister Trafalgar Lami. Law's childhood coincided with the time when the symptoms of Amber Lead poisoning were at their peak within the country, and he was doomed to die before reaching adulthood. The kingdom was at war with neighboring countries who mistakenly believed that the disease was contagious. The World Government and the royal family knew about the sickness beforehand but did not disclose this information to the public, even when the symptoms were becoming more noticeable. His parents were doing all they could to help the people but couldn't do much without proper supplies. What's more, Law's sister, who was in an advanced stage of the disease, was slowly dying. A local nun was collecting children to be taken off the island during the war and offered Law to come with her. He declined as he didn't want to leave his sister behind, but the nun promised to come back for him. However, an extermination crew shot his parents before his very eyes. The nun and his friends were likewise killed in the raid and his parents' hospital was burned down with his sister inside during the destruction of the country. An emotionally wrecked Law managed to escape the quarantine by hiding under dead bodies being shipped outside the city. Having lost everything and a wrong levied against everyone dear to him, Law became nihilistic and omnicidal, wishing to destroy as much of the world as he could without believing in anything anymore.

Meeting Doflamingo And Corazon

From there he arrived at a port town, Spider Miles, he approached the Donquixote Pirates and asked Doflamingo to let him join while strapping himself with bombs. With the time he had, Law wanted to destroy as much as he could. While speaking with Trebol and Diamante, Law explained that he had around three years to live and reminded them what his goals were. Afterwards, Law met Doflamingo's younger brother, Corazon and showed indifference to his clumsiness. Shortly after Law was informed that Corazon hated kids, the executive threw Law out the window. Law, having survived the fall, was angered at being treated this way out of the blue and swore to kill him. He watched impassively as Corazon burned himself after accidentally setting his feathery mantle ablaze while lighting a cigarette. At a pizza feast, Lao G told Law about the crew's blood law and Doflamingo warned him not to lay a hand on Corazon. The crew then discovered that Law was sick with the Amber Lead Disease, and Giolla incorrectly thought that the disease was contagious, at which Doflamingo corrected her. Doflamingo then questioned Law if there were any other survivors. Law answered that he did not know and revealed that he escaped the extermination of Flevance by hiding in a pile of corpses, causing Gladius to gag. Law then declared that he no longer believed in anything and that he will have his revenge on Corazon. Baby 5 slapped him on the head and warned him about the consequences, which included torture. Law merely glared at Baby 5, causing her to cry. Later on, while most of the crew was out raiding and discussing on Law's past, Law snuck up on Corazon while he was alone and stabbed him from behind. However, he was seen by Buffalo, who was shocked at seeing Law breaking the crew's blood law. To get away with it, Law bribed Buffalo with ice cream. However, Law was still a bit uneasy about Buffalo's trustworthiness, so he attempted to flee only to be caught by Giolla and Machvise who brought him to Doflamingo. Law than noticed that Corazon was not dead and believed that he had informed his brother that Law had impaled him. Doflamingo announced that he had decided to officially welcome Law into the Donquixote Pirates. Law was shocked that Corazon did not simply write something up to tell Doflamingo about what had happened. Law reminded Doflamingo that he would die in less than three years, but Doflamingo went on to explain that their "family" dealt with underworld businesses and told Law of a possibility for survival: obtaining a Devil Fruit power that could heal him. He further explained that if Law was lucky to find one before his life expired, he would raise and train him to be his right-hand man in ten years. Doflamingo later noticed Corazon's wound and Corazon informed him that he was attacked by an enemy, as Law wondered why Corazon covered for him. Down the next roughly two years, Doflamingo explained his plans as they traveled and committed acts of piracy while Law was being annoyed by Corazon's constant clumsiness and falling for practical jokes. The Donquixote Pirates would loot, attack, make business deals, fight and toast during their time together. Law was tutored under Doflamingo himself, while the rest of the family also trained him: Lao G in Martial arts, Gladius in gunnery, and Diamante in swordsmanship.

The Search For A Cure And Corazons Sacrifice

Eventually, the time came when Law only had a year or less left to live. Baby 5 noticed how the white spots had increased. Baby 5 and Buffalo told Law their real names and asked Law to reveal his. Buffalo even threatened to reveal what Law did to Corazon two years prior. Law then told them his full name, Trafalgar D. Water Law. He explained that the "D." was supposed to be a secret and Water was his true name. Baby 5 found the name boring, causing Law to lash out at her and scare the girl again. Suddenly, Law was picked up and carried away by Corazon. When at a safe distance, Corazon, speaking for the first time, asked if that was really his full name. Corazon then explained that if he was really a "D.", he should leave the crew right away and warned him not to go anywhere near Doflamingo again. Law was utterly shocked as Corazon revealed that he was never mute and also created a soundproof barrier to prevent others from hearing their conversation. He also revealed that his goal all along was to stop Doflamingo's madness. He did not want Law to become a monster like his brother so he once again asked Law to leave the crew. Law refused to do so and Corazon explained to him about the secret name "D" and asked Law to go find a cure for his illness but the latter told him there wasn't one. Instead, Law stated that he would reveal Corazon's secrets to Doflamingo. Corazon tried to stop Law with a kick, but Law managed to trip him and he knocked him into a garbage bin. Law ran back to the crew with Buffalo and Baby 5 and kept them quiet by offering them ice cream. When Corazon returned to the crew, Law told him that he decided to keep their conversation secret to repay Corazon for not telling Doflamingo about his transgression. Sometime after these events, Corazon later took Law with him to find a cure for the Amber Lead Syndrome, much to his dismay. Law watched Corazon demonstrate his Devil Fruit powers, but was not impressed, saying Corazon could not do anything with those powers. In an attempt to help Law, Corazon took Law to various hospitals, but everyone they met treated Law with spite and refused to treat him. During this time, Corazon would beat the doctors and burn down their hospitals out of anger. After six months, Corazon broke down and revealed that he sympathized to a sleeping Law and just wanted to help him since he knew the pain that Law went through. Overhearing this, Law broke down in happiness at finally finding someone who understood him. The two developed a much better relationship of friendship, as Law referred to him as "Cora-san". At that moment, Doflamingo suddenly contacted them via Den Den Mushi. After checking to see how their search was going, Doflamingo told Corazon of his plan to steal the Ope Ope no Mi, which could be used to heal Law. After Corazon hung up, he happily told Law about his plan to steal the fruit first and feed it to him so Law could heal himself, which shocked Law into speechlessness. As Corazon made contact with the Marines, Law started succumbing to his illness. A fretful Corazon urged him to stay alive for three more weeks. While sailing through a typhoon, Law reminded Corazon that the World Government was responsible for the destruction of his home and the death of his family. He asked Corazon if he was working for the government. To his relief, Corazon denied being a Marine. Corazon also warned Law that they would soon become enemies of both the Donquixote Pirates as well as the World Government. They later arrived at Minion Island, where the pirate crew that possessed the Ope Ope no Mi was stationed. Corazon left Law sitting in a corner of an abandoned village while he went to steal the Devil Fruit. Law waited for him to return while combatting his illness. Corazon managed to steal the fruit and despite his wounds, he returned to Law. Corazon then proudly showed Law the Ope Ope no Mi. Law expressed some skepticism at the thought of the fruit being able to heal him. Corazon subsequently lost his patience and force-fed the fruit to Law. After he swallowed it, Corazon expressed relief and collapsed on the ground apparently out of exhaustion, saying that they had outwitted his brother and that Law could be saved. He then requested a favor from Law. Law expressed concern and rolled him over to see that his entire front was riddled with bullets. Law attempted to use his new powers to heal his wounds, but Corazon said that he made a blunder and chuckled at Law's attempt to use his abilities, saying that they did not work like magic. He handed Law a secret letter and asked him to deliver it to the Marines. Law then took the letter with him and delivered it to Vergo, unaware of his true allegiance at the time. He then returned to Corazon with the Marine officer, wanting him to heal Corazon only to realize that Vergo was working for Doflamingo. The full danger of the situation came down on them as Vergo read the letter, despite Corazon's pleas, and realized Corazon's treachery towards Doflamingo. Vergo brutally attacked Law and Corazon and then revealed everything to Doflamingo as he and his crew arrived on the island. In spite of his injuries, Corazon managed to escape with Law when Vergo turned away, provoking Doflamingo to use his Birdcage technique to prevent him from escaping with the Ope Ope no Mi, unaware that Law had already eaten it. Corazon realized that his death was inevitable and resigned himself to saving Law. He smiled at Law, saying that he would die with a smile and expressed his hopes that if Law thinks of him when he's gone, he will always remember him smiling. Shortly after, Corazon placed Law into a treasure chest and told him to stay hidden in it. He placed a Calm field around the boy so no one could hear him and promised Law that he would survive while telling the boy that he loved him. Corazon then allowed himself to be caught to serve as a distraction and Law could only sit helplessly in the chest as the Donquixote Pirates violently attacked Corazon. When Doflamingo arrived, Law cried in despair as Corazon was shot multiple times. The Donquixote Pirates then left with their loot including the chest Law was hiding in. Before they left the island, they were under fire by the Marines led by Tsuru. While they were distracted, Law escaped them undetected thanks to Corazon's ability and walked away weeping over Corazon's demise.

Beginning Of The Heart Pirates

Law ended up on the neighboring Swallow Island, where he saw two boys named Shachi and Penguin bully a young mink named Bepo. Shachi and Penguin picked a fight against Law, but he beat them up. Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo became interested in Law, causing them to join him, thus forming the Heart Pirates. At some point, Law was able to master his power and cure his sickness. Law walked for three days to Swallow Island without resting, and he came to a village. However, he decided to hide out in a cave due to fearing peoples' reaction to his Amber Lead Syndrome. In the cave, Law was close to death from the syndrome, but managed to figure out how to use his new Devil Fruit powers to remove the lead from his body. Afterwards, he passed out. While he was sleeping, Law was discovered by an old inventor named Wolf and taken to his house. After waking up, Law was initially suspicious of Wolf, but the old man made it clear he would let Law stay with him as long as he helped him with his work. Law aided Wolf with his inventions and farming, and the two occasionally went hunting together. When Wolf was away, Law would train his Devil Fruit powers. One day when Wolf was out at the market, Law went on a walk near the forest. There, he saw a polar bear mink named Bepo getting beaten up by two boys named Shachi and Penguin. When Shachi and Penguin confronted Law with the intent to attack him as well, Law used his powers to knock them out. Bepo followed him back to Wolf's house, and Law became acquainted with him. He decided to let Bepo stay with him and Wolf, who agreed to it. A month later, Law and Bepo saw an explosion in the forest, and they found Shachi and Penguin, who had been severely injured in a boar attack. Law and Bepo brought them to Wolf's house, where Law gave orders to treat them. He had Wolf give the boys a blood transfusion while he worked on using his powers to reattach Penguin's severed arm. After a long and painstaking procedure, Law finished reattaching the arm and was successful in restoring movement to it. Shachi and Penguin thanked Law's group and revealed that they had no place to go after being orphaned and abused. Law offered for them to become his subordinates, to which they agreed, and Wolf agreed to let them stay in his house. Law and his crew fought their way through the Grand Line, becoming infamous in the process, with Law even earning a bounty of 200,000,000, and the crew eventually reached the Sabaody Archipelago.

Summit War Saga

Sabaody Archipelago Arc

Like the other Supernovas, he was first shown having arrived at the Archipelago with his crew before heading for the New World. He was the final Supernova to be introduced, seen sitting on a crate as X Drake, another Supernova, passed by after having broken up a fight between Urouge and Killer. Law asked Drake how many people he had slain. Later, Eustass Kid observed him in the Auction House on Grove 1, where he revealed that he heard about very unpleasant things about Law. Law replied by flipping him off, causing Kid to note that Law was lacking manners. As the auctioning continued, Law only observed in boredom. After Monkey D. Luffy broke into the Auction House and attacked one of the World Nobles, Law was seen smiling at the reckless action that his fellow Supernova committed. A short while later, Law revealed to Luffy that the auction house was surrounded by Marines, since the Archipelago was so close to Marine Headquarters (although Luffy was more interested in the bear who was with Law). After Silvers Rayleigh appeared and knocked out the majority of the soldiers standing in the pirates' way, he was seen still standing, along with his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, Kid, Killer, and their crew as well. As the Straw Hats and Rayleigh prepared to leave the Auction House before the admiral showed up, Kid told Luffy and Law to stay back as he volunteered to hold off the Marine grunts, much to both Law and Luffy's annoyance. Law told Kid that he would finish him off too if he ordered him around again. The trio then demonstrated their Devil Fruit powers to hold off the Marines, with Law utilizing a field where he replaced a Marine's head with a cannon ball fired at him. As the fight continued, Law was busy with switching around the body parts of the Marine troops in order to confuse and defeat them. Later, when the trio defeated the first wave, Law noted that Luffy shrank due to the side-effects of Gear Third. After everyone exited the Auction House, the Marines began a heavier assault on the pirates. At that moment, when Luffy proclaimed that he will be the one to find One Piece (which caught Law and Kid's attention), Kid told Law and Luffy that the three would meet each other again in the New World, to which Law only smiled. Then, as a bigger Marine grunt tried to attack him, Law ordered his bear companion, Bepo, to attack him, because he was done fighting. Before he left the scene, he freed and recruited Captain Jean Bart, a former slave of Saint Rosward, into his crew. The captain accepts wholeheartedly, although Law told him that half of the thanks should go to "Straw Hat-ya". Afterward, he and his crew made an attempt to escape but came across the Kid Pirates fighting a Pacifista. The Pacifista attacked Law with an energy beam, but he managed to avoid it before he and Kid prepared to fight their common foe. The events of this battle were not shown, but Law and his crew managed to escape the Pacifista and the admiral.

Marineford Arc

During the Whitebeard War, Law and his crew were initially present on the Sabaody Archipelago, where the broadcast of Ace's execution was being shown. He was presumably watching the events at Marineford unfold, along with his fellow Supernovas, as he ordered Bepo and Jean Bart to set sail immediately after the broadcast was cut. Towards the end of the battle, as Jinbe and Buggy fled the conflict with a critically injured Luffy, Law emerged from the ocean in his submarine. With Bepo and Jean Bart at his back, Law told Buggy that he is a doctor, and ordered him to hand over Luffy for medical treatment. He claimed that although Straw Hat may become an enemy of his in the future, Law would not allow that destiny to go unfulfilled by letting him die. As the war got more intense, Law continued to tell Buggy to drop Luffy and Jinbe to his ship. Just as Buggy was about to, he was shot through his shoulder by Kizaru and threw them at Law's ship as he fled. As Jean Bart caught them, Law ordered his crew to dive, but as soon as they were leaving, Kizaru showed up and tried to capture them. Luckily, the distraction of Koby and the Red Hair Pirates allowed them to leave the battle ground. But before his vessel could fully submerge, Buggy, who was convinced by Shanks to help return his hat back to Luffy (for a treasure map that the Emperor was supposedly willing to give in exchange for Buggy's services), threw Luffy's signature hat at the submarines opening hatch. Law caught the hat right before sealing the hatch off. He then commenced to supervising Luffy and Jinbe's medical treatment while putting the Straw Hat on the side table, as the submarine was evading Aokiji's Ice Age and Kizaru's Yasakani no Magatama.

Postwar Arc

Later, as Boa Hancock and Emporio Ivankov arrived with a Marine battleship, Law came outside from the sub and informed them that he had done all he could and that Luffy was still in critical condition. When asked by Ivankov if he was a friend of Luffy, he replied that he was not and that he also had no obligation to save him. He offered to make an excuse as to why he was treating Luffy, but Ivankov stated that he did not need to as Law was only following his instincts. Jinbe then woke up and thanked Law for saving him and Luffy. Law bluntly told Jinbe to go to sleep or he would die. After his crew's arrival at Amazon Lily, he told Jinbe that if Luffy kept struggling, his wounds would open back up and he might die this time. Later, he looked at Luffy's straw hat with a curious look on his face. After a little while, he and his crew saw Silvers Rayleigh took down a sea king and swam ashore. Rayleigh told them that he was hit by a storm, but Law's crew was baffled about a storm on the Calm Belt (only to realize it was actually a storm outside the Calm Belt). Law gave him Luffy's straw hat and set sail. While in his submarine, he talked about Rayleigh and figuratively about the storm made by "D" with a grin on his face as he sailed away. Somewhere near Sabaody Archipelago, Law discussed with his crew about why he did not want to enter the New World yet, saying that he was waiting for the right time and that in any case, One Piece will not disappear and that the other pirates were free to fight each other without him. He then told his men to follow his orders in order for him to "steal the proper throne", to which his crew happily rejoiced. The story continues two years later.

Trafalgar D. Water Law/History/During And After The Timeskip

Introduction

During The Timeskip

Summary

Law was held responsible as the mastermind of an event known as the "Rocky Port Incident", during which he sent the hearts of one hundred pirates to the World Government, leading to him acquiring the status of Warlord of the Sea, as well as causing significant damage to Rocky Port in addition to inadvertently helping Blackbeard usurp control of Hachinosu from Ochoku. Around this time, Law's bounty had increased to 440,000,000 before it was frozen due to his Warlord status. At least one month before the Straw Hats reunited, Law sent his crew to stay at Zou to remain safe, since that is where Bepo was from. He then traveled to Punk Hazard, where he formed a partnership with Caesar Clown. In exchange for allowing him to stay on the island, Law gave his heart to Caesar. While working with Caesar, he granted new legs to Brownbeard and many others who had lost their ability to walk.

Dressrosa Saga

Punk Hazard Arc

After Kin'emon arrived on the island in search of Momonosuke, he started cutting down Caesar's subordinates whom he believed were holding his "son" captive, prompting them to make a distress call that Luffy answered, which was intercepted by Smoker. Afterward, Law confronted the samurai and dismembered his body into several pieces. Smoker and his subordinates then went to Punk Hazard to find the Straw Hats. They arrived at the frozen side of the island in front of a large facility. Before entering the building, the Marines were greeted by Law who asked what they were doing at his "vacation house". Smoker reminded Law that the island was off-limits. Replying in kind, Law told Smoker that it went the same for him. Smoker then played the recorded message between the man on the island and Luffy. Smoker told Law that he was aware of his and Luffy's alliance on Sabaody and of the fact that Law had rescued Luffy during the war. Law, however, insisted that he had nothing to do with the emergency call. Smoker requested permission to inspect the interior of the research facility, but Law refused and would not let him inside. He claimed to be alone on the island and asserted that, should he encounter Luffy or any of the Straw Hat Pirates, he would dispose of them. Sanji, Chopper, Franky, and Nami accompanied by the imprisoned guinea pig children suddenly came out through the door. Chopper saw and accused Law of kidnapping the children. The Straw Hats and the children ran back inside after seeing the Marines and Law insisted that he did not even know that they were there, and that this was all a surprise to him. As the Marines prepared to chase after them, Law stood in their way. He used his Devil Fruit power on the Marines' ship, lifted it out of the water, and turned it upside down. Law then told Smoker that he cannot let him leave the island. Smoker and Law then prepared to fight against each other. Law severed Smoker's battleship in half and left one half fused to a mountain, while the other half remained on the ground, thereby depriving the Marines of any means of escape. He then turned around, saying that he cannot let the fleeing Straw Hats run away either and proceeded to swap their hearts around with Shambles. When the Marines told Law that his Warlord status would be revoked if they reported him to the government, Law used "Scan" to steal all of their Den Den Mushis and said that he was not going to let them say a word of what they had seen to the World Government or to Marine Headquarters. Smoker then attempted to attack him, but Law evaded his attack and struck back. Smoker seemed unaffected, but the Marines watching got sliced up instead. Tashigi then attempted to attack Law as well, but Law effortlessly sliced her and her sword in half. Tashigi told him that being sliced but not killed is a shame to a swordsman, but Law replied that weaklings do not choose their way to die. Law then offered to slice Tashigi more as the G-5 Marines fired repeatedly at him in her defense, but they screamed in shock as he effortlessly switched their ordinance with the snow falling above them. He attacked Tashigi once more, but Smoker blocked him with his jitte, and the two of them engaged each other. As they clashed, Smoker demanded answers from Law, some regarding on who Law was working for, indicating hidden motives. Law managed to gain the upper hand by stealing Smoker's heart with his Mes attack. While Smoker kneeled in defeat, Law commented that he did not have to tell him anything. Luffy then arrived at the scene and was surprised to see Law. Luffy quickly expressed his gratitude to Law for his help two years ago. Law merely stated that he was just acting on a whim and told Luffy that he would find something in the back of the research facility. He also told him that they both have something they want to get back. Law then went back into the building, while still carrying Smoker's heart, and spoke to Caesar. Caesar demanded an explanation for his actions, but Law replied that he was the one who should be complaining. He later gave a heart to Caesar, which he thought belongs to Smoker. Caesar held the heart in his hand, while Law looked on silently with a displeased look in his eyes and a frown. Law then asked what happened to Straw Hat, and Caesar revealed that having taken Monet's warning about the Straw Hats' possible increase in strength seriously, he sent two powerful people after them: the Hitmen of the Snowy Mountain, the Yeti Cool Brothers. When Monet informed Caesar about Law's association with Luffy at Sabaody Archipelago and Marineford, Caesar pulled a pistol on Law and questioned him about his relationship to the notable pirate. Law denied having anything to do with the Straw Hats Pirates' presence on the island. Caesar then realized that Law would not betray him, as he would not make things more complicated for them, after becoming a Warlord of the Sea and coming to Punk Hazard. As Caesar was about to leave, Law asked him why the kids would not run away. Caesar told him that he gave the kids the addicting drug NHC10, to which Law responded with disgust. He also pointed out that it reminded him of someone. After finishing talking to Caesar, Law head to the back door of the facility and cut down some of Caesar's troops along the way, remarking that he could go wherever he pleased. While Luffy and Franky were fighting against the Yeti Cool Brothers, Law appeared and sliced Scotch in half. Scotch got back up and tried to attack Law with a knife. Law jumped up and put both hands on Scotch's chest. He emitted an electric current, using a move called Counter Shock, causing Scotch to fall over in a burning heap. Nami thanked Law, but promptly retracted it and asked for her body back. As Luffy broke Nami's chains with his teeth, Law told him that he wanted to talk to Luffy about something. Even though his coming to the island might have been accidental, there was an important key lying dormant on the island that could throw the world into pandemonium. He went on to say that there are only two ways to survive in the New World: either go under the safety umbrella of an Emperor or consistently challenge them. Law explained that he knew Luffy is not the serving kind, which Luffy agreed with. Law then asked Luffy to form an alliance with him, all for the purpose of bringing down one of the Four Emperors. When Luffy tried to comprehend how Law wanted to defeat an Emperor, Law explained that he wanted to think of a strategy and wait for the right chance. After asking Luffy again, Luffy responded that he wanted to know which of the Four Emperors they were going to defeat. Law stated that he planned to defeat Kaidou, which relieved Luffy because he did not want to go against Shanks first. Therefore, he agreed to the alliance (much to Nami's protest), because he intended to defeat all four Emperors. Law advised Luffy not to underestimate the Emperor, as they once competed with Whitebeard for territory, and continued by saying that the chance of success is only 30%, but Luffy accepted anyway. Returning with Luffy and the others to where the other Straw Hats (Chopper, Usopp and Robin) were staying, they too protested against an alliance, stating that Law was suspicious and could not be trusted. Declaring the alliance official, Luffy reaffirmed his belief that Law is a good guy and that if he does betray them, then he would have to contest with Luffy and his crewmates that have spent two years training. Law watched impatiently as they continued to argue about whether they can trust each other. Afterwards, with the discussion on trust settled, he returned Franky and Chopper back into their original bodies, but was forced to leave Nami (much to Luffy, Chopper, and Usopp's amusement) in Sanji's body. Demanding her body back, Law simply stated that he cannot unless her body was nearby. Quickly changing the subject to the children, he went on to advise that the Straw Hats should simply leave the children behind, as they would be too much of a burden to bear and Caesar had them addicted to a drug in order to control them. After Chopper stated that he knew that and pointed out that they have grown so big, Law explained that turning humans into giants is a World Government project that has been going on for hundreds of years. When Robin asked why they would do that, he guessed that it is an attempt to create powerful soldiers and that Caesar was continuing the research to beat the World Government and Vegapunk, even though it did not seem to be going very well. Law then asked them again if they really wanted to save the kids, since they did not even know them or where they were from. Chopper and Luffy both stated that they wanted to and Luffy said that Law had to help them if he wanted an alliance. Luffy then added that Sanji wanted to hang on to the samurai, shocking Law as he was the one who sliced him into pieces earlier. Usopp then told Law about how his and Luffy's ideas about an alliance were probably very different, and that Luffy could be very stubborn and selfish. Law simply pointed out that their own wishes of helping the kids and Kin'emon were not part of the alliance, but quickly changed his mind and told them to do something about the samurai while he went to figure out what medicine the children were administered. Law asked for doctor of the Straw Hats as he would need to accompany him. Law was then mortified as Chopper (still paralyzed and injured due to Luffy and Franky's earlier actions) was tied to the top to his hat by Usopp. Law instead opted to tying Chopper to his sword's sheath and informed the Straw Hats that Caesar wanted to get rid of them and the White Hunter, and that he would keep attacking until he succeeded as they have uncovered his hidden base of operations. After he explained to them that Caesar is a scientist for the World Government gone rogue and his dangerous abilities requiring Haki to counter, Luffy asked him if kidnapping Caesar was all they had to do. Law confirmed this, stating that the goal was not a ransom but instead "chaos". However, as they had not achieved anything yet, he chose not to inform them of any more of his plan and to just focus on capturing Caesar. He assured them though, that he would explain his plan to them in detail, but once they get to that point he warned them that things would begin to move very fast and that they cannot go back. Law gave Luffy one last chance to change his mind, but Luffy still wanted to have the alliance and agreed to convince the rest of his crew of their intentions. Law later used his Devil Fruit powers to warp himself and Chopper to the back side of the research facility to begin their part of the plan. They then discussed on how they could begin searching for the drugs. Law was surprised to Luffy's group land in the middle of a battle between the G-5 Marines and Caesar's subordinates. Law then entered the facility with Chopper hidden in his bag. He approached Monet and asked her to come with him. Before leaving with Monet, Law left Chopper in the room. While walking in a hallway, Law suddenly collapsed to the ground bleeding from the mouth. A mysterious person approached, and Law was alarmed to see him. The mysterious man was revealed to be Vergo who then explained to Law that "they" decided to send Monet to infiltrate Caesar's organization as they did not trust him. After Vergo recognized Law's new status as a Warlord and told him about how he got to Punk Hazard, Law asked what he had done to receive this treatment from Vergo. He pointed out to Law that if he had done something, he would already be dead and that he cannot hide anything from adults. Law decided that he had to get rid of Vergo, who responded by knocking Law unconscious while telling Law to address him with more respect. Law was locked in a cage with Seastone chains, along with Luffy, Robin, Franky, Smoker, and Tashigi. There, Law revealed Vergo as one of Joker's most trusted men, who became a Marine on Joker's orders. Luffy then asked Law about Joker, and Law explained that he is Donquixote Doflamingo, whom he was once a subordinate of. While Caesar was giving his broadcast to the underworld brokers about his experiment with his chemical weapon of mass destruction, Law and the other captives were just sitting passively. Caesar then confronted Law about his treachery. He reminded Law that when he arrived, they made a promise: Caesar would let Law have Monet's heart if Law gave up his own heart. Caesar then gave the heart to Vergo, and if Law tried to do anything against Caesar, he could just squeeze Law's heart. Vergo then gave his heart a tiny squeeze, which caused Law massive pain. While Caesar mocked Law about the deal he forced him to make when he came to the island, Law just mocked him stating he should have been more cautious of Monet rather than him and called Caesar stupid which resulted in Caesar squeezing Law's heart and Law passing out from the agony. When Smiley ate what appeared to be a giant piece of candy, it transformed into a giant cloud of poison. After explaining about the effects of the gas, Caesar sent Law, Smoker, Tashigi and Luffy's group outside of the facility to die as the poison cloud engulfed the island. Law then told Luffy that it was time for a counterattack. Law then asked if there was anyone capable of producing fire. Franky affirmed that he could and was directed to launch his Franky Fireball at the segregated battleship down below. Setting the wood ablaze, the smoke then rose up to the cage allowing for them to discreetly take action. Law quickly revealed that he had replaced some of the Seastone handcuffs with regular ones allowing for him to escape easily. Freeing Luffy and the others, Law then coerced Smoker and Tashigi into working together with the group after returning them to their own bodies. As Law was freeing Smoker, he told him not to touch Caesar until he recovered his heart from Vergo. Before he could reveal his next step however, Law was immediately distracted by Luffy calling out from outside the cage with Robin. After Law yelled at him not to act independently, they then later moved into the laboratory thanks to Law's power. They opened the shutters, allowing everyone outside to escape the poison gas. Once everyone was safe from the poison cloud, Law told Smoker and Tashigi not to get in his and Luffy's way. Nami quickly demanded that Law switch back her and Sanji's bodies. Law complied and switched them back. Law then told everyone present that they needed to find a door with "R Building 66" on it. He said that they all had two hours to escape. Luffy asked him what was going to happen, and Law replied that he would do something to make the base unsafe. Everyone then departed with different objectives. Law then made his way to the SAD manufacturing room inside the D Building with plans to make a mess in the New World. Once inside the manufacturing room, he stood in front of a giant SAD Tank with a grin on his face. Law was then confronted by Vergo. Law attempted to use his Devil Fruit ability to retrieve his heart, but Vergo stole it back from him and brutally beat him to the ground by using his heart to immobilize the Warlord. Law managed to hit Vergo with a Counter Shock, but the attack was ineffective. Law told Vergo that he was the one miscalculation in his plan. Vergo prepared to finish off Law, but Smoker then appeared and the two began to fight. During the battle between Smoker and Vergo, the former was able to use his Devil Fruit abilities to secure Law's heart despite the latter's Haki. No longer at a serious disadvantage, Law prepared to cut down Vergo while calling out to Doflamingo who was revealed to have been monitoring the situation via a miniature Den Den Mushi. Law started taunting Doflamingo, saying that his overconfidence would be his undoing. Doflamingo, in turn, reminded his former subordinate of a beating Vergo had given him in the past and his inability to defend himself. Law then shocked his fellow Warlord by easily cutting down Vergo and the wake of his attack cut the laboratory and the surrounding mountains in two. Law then proceeded to slice Vergo into more pieces and attach them to a railing. Vergo then tried to warn Law about Doflamingo until Law cut his face in half. As Law and Smoker were leaving, Law informed Vergo that the SAD room would explode. Law and Smoker later found a rail car in the corridor between Building D and R. They were soon reunited with the Straw Hats, the kidnapped children, and the G-5 Marines. When Luffy told Law that he sent Caesar flying, Law scolded him for not following the plan of capturing him and opted to capture Caesar himself. Law and the others were still waiting for all the Straw Hats to come on board. Luffy said that they would not budge until every member of the Straw Hats arrived. They made it just in time and they all finally got in the rail car. After it was revealed that Smoker got his heart back, he asked Law what made Caesar think that he had his heart. Law then revealed that he never gave Smoker's heart to Caesar in the first place, and he gave Monet's heart instead. The trolley soon reached the exit. Once outside, they found Buffalo and Baby 5 after they were just fighting Franky in his General Franky. Realizing their sudden disadvantage, Buffalo and Baby 5 grabbed Caesar and started to make a hasty retreat. As they fled through the sky, Law prepared to stop them himself, but Usopp and Nami insisted that they handle the escaping pair themselves. Nami created an enormous thundercloud above the pair which shocked them with a lightning strike. The attack knocked out Baby 5 as she, Buffalo, and Caesar fell out of the sky. Usopp quickly took Buffalo out by firing multiple projectiles at him. Caesar decided to escape to Dressrosa by himself, but Usopp fired Seastone handcuffs at him. The cuffs caught Caesar around the neck and negated his Devil Fruit powers. As the three fell into the ocean, Law declared the first step of his plan complete. After the battles were finally over, Law started treating the kids. He used his power to dismember the children and systematically removed the NHC10 out of their bodies. Upon finishing the treatment, a worried Chopper showed up, and called him a murderer and asked him what he did to the kids. After he told Chopper to leave him alone, he gave Chopper a graphic answer, which shocked him. When everyone started celebrating, Law told Luffy that they must not waste time anymore. However, Luffy encouraged everyone to party more, which shocked Law. He soon joined the party though and had a cup of soup together with Smoker. When Smoker suggested that Law was probably using Luffy for something, Law responded that he was not sure who was using who. Later, after Doflamingo stumbled upon the raft with Buffalo and Baby 5's severed heads, Law contacted Doflamingo via a Den Den Mushi. Law told Doflamingo that without Caesar and his SMILE trade, Kaidou would execute Doflamingo. In order to get Caesar back, Law told Doflamingo that he would have to resign from his position as a Warlord of the Sea by the time the next newspaper came out and hung up. After leaving the island, Law found himself in the company of the Straw Hats along with Kin'emon and his son. As they began sailing down a 'Sea Slope' he told them that these are common to find, which put Usopp into disbelief. As the rest learned of their next destination being Dressrosa, he said their strategy was in motion. Luffy informed them of their alliance with the Warlord to take down Kaidou, with mixed reactions from the crew. Sanji warned Law that his idea of an alliance would be different from what Luffy intended. Law explained to everyone how the powerful pirates rule certain territories with large crews and organizations. He then said that he intended to disrupt Doflamingo's rule over the criminal underworld and to decimate Kaidou's forces as much as possible by stopping the production of the SAD and the creation of Artificial Devil Fruits. Law revealed that Kaidou has about 500 synthetic fruit users in his disposal, but that number would not be growing any time soon due to the capture of Caesar. When Chopper acknowledged Caesar Clown's achievements in creating the artificial devil fruits, Law told them it was Vegapunk who discovered it. Law then told the crew that their next step was to destroy the factory producing the SMILEs in Dressrosa and urged them all not to let their guards down.

Caesar Retrieval Arc

Law had drifted off to sleep, when Breed's attack on the Thousand Sunny woke him up. He witnessed Breed's forces invade the ship, and helped to fight against them. Upon Breed's arrival, Law listened as he told everybody who he was and why he was there. When Law realized that one of Breed's pets had kidnapped Caesar Clown, Law screamed out in shock. After Breed's departure, Law and everyone else on board held on to the ship as it jumped into the air due to the size of Breed's ship. After the Thousand Sunny had finally stopped jumping, Law, Luffy, and Chopper jumped into the Shark Submerge, and followed the invaders back to Breed's ship, where Law expressed his fear that Breed might be working for Doflamingo. While in the Shark Submerge, Law, Chopper, and Luffy discussed the situation, and Law stated that the creatures in the water were Sea Lapahns, which were native to the North Blue. As they entered the enemy ship, Law scolded Luffy for being too loud, since they did not want the enemy to know that they were there. The three walked into a dome-like room, and encountered more of Breed's pets. They fought off the pets, which caused them to snap out of Breed's control. One of the animals, a Kung-Fu Dugong from Arabasta, explained the situation via Chopper's interpretation, telling them how Breed had kidnapped them in order to do his bidding. Suddenly, Breed entered the room, and ordered the animals to attack the three. Breed then threw one of his control collars at them and while Luffy and Law were able to dodge it, Chopper was unable to do so. Breed took Chopper under his control and ordered him to defeat Luffy and Law, which caused Chopper to eat a Rumble Ball, go into his Monster Point form and attack his friends against his will. Law then attempted to use his ROOM ability to stop Chopper's rampage, but Luffy jumped onto him and prevented him from hurting his crewmate. Breed, taking advantage of their distraction, managed to put collars on both Luffy and Law, which caused Law to scream out in shock. Law and Luffy then looked on in anger as Breed boasted about his success. Shortly after, Law and Luffy were imprisoned in a Seastone cell. After Luffy declared that pirates do not follow orders, Breed brought Luffy and Law to a circus-like chamber, where he ordered them to fight each other to the death (without using Devil Fruits). They battled for several minutes until the Kung-Fu Dugong was able to stop the fight. After the dugong made his own speech to Breed, Breed ordered him to kill Luffy and Law himself. Luffy and Law did nothing as the dugong attacked them, and the struggle concluded when the dugong forced the two through the wall and into the sea. However, it is later revealed Law used his powers to save himself and Luffy, bringing them to the lobby chamber of Breed's ship, where they were just in time to stop Caesar from getting away. When they returned to Breed's circus chamber, Law revealed to have seen through the weakness of Breed's powers: Law knew that Breed's orders would not work if they could not hear him, so Law put earplugs in his ears and, during the forced fight between him and Luffy, Law was not actually possessed. Soon after, Breed revealed the true extent of his Devil Fruit powers, but was shortly defeated by Luffy and the dugong. Law and the Straw Hats returned to the Sunny, where the dugong and his Sea Animal Pirates said their farewells.

Dressrosa Arc
Returning Caesar

When the morning newspaper came, everyone read it and Law was pleased that the paper stated that Doflamingo resigned from the Seven Warlords of the Sea. They also saw that the paper revealed the alliance between Law and Luffy and showed that Eustass Kid, Basil Hawkins, and Scratchmen Apoo had formed an alliance as well. Law was unconcerned with the other pirate alliance and remained focused on the next objective. Law then contacted Doflamingo to inform him that he would return Caesar as promised. He allowed Caesar to speak so Doflamingo could confirm his safety. He then told Doflamingo to pick up Caesar at Green Bit, an island north of Dressrosa. After hanging up, Law and the Straw Hats started plotting on how to destroy the SMILE factory on Dressrosa. Sanji was concerned about how many men Doflamingo would bring, but Law said that was not an issue. Law further stated that Caesar's return was just a ploy to create an opportunity to locate and eliminate the factory. Law was worried because acquiring the information on the factory was rather difficult. Luffy became excited and Law was shocked at how carefree he was. While having a meal with the crew, Law and Kin'emon talked about a place called Zou. Law revealed that his crew went there. Law then listened to Kin'emon and Momonosuke's story about how they were shipwrecked and drifted to Dressrosa as well as how Momonosuke was separated from his father. After hearing about how Kanjuro helped Kin'emon escape from Doflamingo's men, Luffy declared that they should save him too. Law told Luffy not to get distracted. The Thousand Sunny later approached Dressrosa. After disembarking, Law gave Nami a Vivre Card that points to Zou. He instructed her to use it in case anything happens. The group split into three teams and Law is part of the team that would deliver Caesar to Green Bit. Much to his annoyance, he saw that Luffy's group had already gone ahead into Dressrosa. Law's group stopped by at a northeastern cafe near the bridge wearing disguises like Luffy's group. There, they got information on the passage to Green Bit, learning that the bridge is surrounded by fighting fish that can even destroy iron. The man they were talking to warned them that no one who crossed the bridge to Green Bit has returned. Usopp freaked out and suggested to deliver Caesar somewhere else, but Law remained firm in his decision. The one thing that worried Law was that the country seemed too peaceful even after Doflamingo resigned as king and commented that things were not going as he expected. They then spotted CP0 walking by and Law wondered what they were doing in Dressrosa. Robin told Usopp that they are the highest intelligence agency and that nothing good happens when they appear, to which Law agreed. As Law's group crossed the bridge, they were attacked by the fighting fishes. Law allowed Caesar to be released from his handcuffs so he could help fight off the fishes. He also revealed that he had Caesar's heart as insurance. Since the use of his devil fruit powers deplete his strength the more he uses it, Law tasked Usopp, Robin, and Caesar with defending the bridge, wanting to save all of his strength should he confront Doflamingo. Despite the group's efforts, the bridge was destroyed. A fighting fish attacked them from the front, but it was then caught by some unknown people. The group then used Caesar to fly to the other side. After reaching Green Bit, they discovered a Marine Ship on the island, indicating that there were Marines present. While Usopp and Robin scouted the island, Law and Caesar proceeded to the exchange site at the southern beach. Two minutes before the exchange time, Law was suddenly contacted by Sanji. To Law's surprise, Doflamingo never quit the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Sanji warned Law to get out of Green Bit as Doflamingo and Admiral Fujitora closed in. However, Law noted that it was already too late.

Betrayed Defeated And Captured

Robin created a copy of her upper body above ground and told Law that she and Usopp were trapped underground but were still fine. Right after Robin urged Law to get off the island, Fujitora and Doflamingo arrived at the exchange site. Law told Doflamingo that he was made aware of his deception and was surprised that he was able to use the powers of the World Government. After saying that only the World Nobles can trick the whole world, Law suddenly remembered Vergo telling him about not knowing about Doflamingo's past. Doflamingo just said that it was way more complicated and that he really wanted to kill Law. Since the deal was off, Law refused to release Caesar. Fujitora then turned his attention to Law and stated that Law would be forgiven if the Straw Hats were his subordinates. After Law declared that he and Luffy are indeed in an alliance, Fujitora took away Law's title and used his gravity ability to bring down a meteor. Before the meteor impacted, Law, Fujitora, and Doflamingo used their abilities to reduce the meteor to pieces. After emerging unscathed, Law, Fujitora, and Doflamingo faced each other in a three-way confrontation. As the battle went on, Law was having a hard time holding his own against Fujitora's attacks. He tried to contact Nami but received no answer. When he eventually managed to contact Nami, Chopper, and Brook, he ignored their pleas for help and ordered them to bring the Thousand Sunny to Green Bit. In the meantime, Law was directly confronted by Doflamingo, who demanded that he return Caesar's heart, informed him that Luffy had fallen for a trap at the Corrida Colosseum, and told him to surrender. Law was then defeated in his battle against Doflamingo and Fujitora. As he lay injured on the ground, Doflamingo explained to him about the history of the Donquixote Family, such as them being one of the Twenty Kingdoms that founded the World Government. He went on to explain that he was once a World Noble. As Caesar ran towards Doflamingo, begging him to return his heart, Law stated that he never said that the heart belonged to Caesar. Doflamingo then realized that the heart belonged to a Marine instead. While Fujitora was distracted, Law used ROOM to escape. He then grabbed Caesar and made a run for it. He fled towards the bridge, planning on handing Caesar to Nami's group as soon as they arrived at Green Bit and then holding back Doflamingo long enough for them to escape. When Doflamingo saw the Thousand Sunny, he saw through Law's plan and decided to attack the ship instead. Before Doflamingo could reach the ship, Sanji intercepted him. Despite Sanji's best efforts to fend off Doflamingo, he was soon immobilized by Doflamingo's strings. When Doflamingo was about to deal a lethal blow to Sanji, Law intervened by using Shambles and teleported Sanji, Caesar, and himself to the Thousand Sunny. Law asked Sanji about the status of the operation in Dressrosa only to learn that Zoro's group needed more time. Law revealed that he had Caesar's heart inside of him and Law's heart was hidden in the Thousand Sunny. After giving Caesar back his heart, Law instructed Nami's group to head for Zou. Nami's group was reluctant to leave behind the other Straw Hats, but they complied when they were assaulted by a flying Marine battleship, led by Fujitora, and another one of Doflamingo's hand whips. Sanji noticed that Law was so fixated on Doflamingo when the plan's true objective was supposed to be defeating Kaidou. After blocking an attack from Doflamingo, Law informed the Straw Hats about Doflamingo's Devil Fruit powers and instructed them to go to a place without clouds. Law then took Giolla hostage, giving Nami's group enough time to escape using Coup de Burst. Once the Straw Hats escaped with Caesar Clown and the Marines head for Dressrosa, Law and Doflamingo have a face off at the iron bridge. Law then told his former leader that he is ending his alliance with the Straw Hats, because once they stop the production of SMILE, Kaidou will target Doflamingo. Law also revealed that his goal was to make Doflamingo pay for what he did 13 years ago, even if it will cost him his life. After releasing Giolla, Law stated that he was not fighting Doflamingo for revenge but for the will of someone else. Law and Doflamingo then clashed, destroying the iron bridge in the process. As they clashed, Law used Mes and nicked Doflamingo's cheek as he maneuvered out of the way. He retaliated with a powerful kick, launching Law into the air. Doflamingo used his string ability, pelting Law with tiny bullets. Doflamingo taunted Law, offering him advice to flee into Dressrosa for cover. Diamante suddenly contacted Doflamingo via Den Den Mushi and informed him about Violet's betrayal. Doflamingo then ordered him to send Lao G to guard the SMILE factory. Doflamingo began questioning Law's plan, stating that he overestimated the amount of time he'd be able to distract him from their mission. He asked why he was putting so much trust in them even though he was using them. Law responded that he believed that "D" will bring forth another storm. The battle raged across Dressrosa and ended in front of the Corrida Colosseum with Law ultimately defeated by Doflamingo. Infuriated at his defiance, Doflamingo fired off three shots into Law from a flintlock. Before Law fell unconscious, he thinks of an individual named Cora. After blaming the lies about leaving Dressrosa's throne on Law, Zoro and Kin'emon rushed to save Law. Zoro was intercepted by Issho and Doflamingo kicked Kin'emon away when he was about to grab Law. Doflamingo then picked Law from the ground and headed for the palace alongside Issho, stating that it was his responsibility to "educate" Law. Luffy, who sensed Law was still alive, declared his intention to go after Doflamingo and save his ally. Law was later in the palace, still unconscious and chained to the heart seat, using Seastone chains and cuffs. After Law regained consciousness, Doflamingo interrogated him about the Straw Hats' connection with the dwarves from Green Bit and them targeting Sugar. Baby 5 slapped Law and demanded that he answered Doflamingo. Law scared her away by giving her a glare. He then reminded Doflamingo that he had ended his alliance with the Straw Hats and knew nothing about their intentions. When the toys in the country transformed back into their original forms, Law witnessed Kyros decapitating Doflamingo. Luffy and Viola then rushed into the room to free Law. Law told Luffy that their alliance was over, but Luffy ignored him. The rescue was interrupted by Pica's sudden appearance and the revelation that Doflamingo was still alive. Law was horrified when Doflamingo decided to implement a plan known as the "Birdcage". After a brief battle between Luffy and Doflamingo, Pica threw Law, Luffy, Kyros, Viola, and Riku Doldo III out of the palace. Law watched in terror as Doflamingo trapped Dressrosa in his "Birdcage" and stated that Doflamingo intended to kill everyone on Dressrosa before the truth gets out.

Race To A Rematch

Pica relocated the royal palace to the top of the Flower Hill and Doflamingo forced everyone into a survival game and put a price on the heads of twelve people. Law and the Straw Hats were included in Doflamingo's hit list. When Luffy declared that he will defeat Doflamingo and end his game, Law objected at first, saying that if they kill Doflamingo, Kaidou's rage for losing the SMILE factory will be directed towards the Straw Hat and Heart Pirates alliance instead. Luffy told Law that with the country in chaos, they have to stop Doflamingo themselves. Luffy then grabbed Law and Zoro and pursued Doflamingo. Luffy jumped down from the King's Plateau and they landed in the middle of a crowd of enemies, making Law annoyed with Luffy's antics even further. After a brief scuffle with Senor Pink, Machvise, and Dellinger, Law and his group were attacked by the Dressrosa citizens. Issho soon arrived to confront them and Pica later joined the fray as a massive stone giant. When Luffy made Pica angry by laughing at his high-pitch voice, the elite officer threw a punch which sent Luffy, Zoro, and Law flying to the square in front of the colosseum. They were soon approached by Cavendish, who briefly tried to vent his rage over losing his popularity at Law. After Cavendish returned Law's hat, they were then joined by those who also wished to fight Doflamingo: the Chinjao Family, Hajrudin, Elizabello II, Dagama, Abdullah, Jeet, Orlumbus, Ideo, Suleiman, and Blue Gilly. After Ucy joined the group, they marched towards the royal palace and began to battle against Pica. When Pica attacked, Chinjao and Elizabello II shattered his hand, enabling the group to move forward. Pica then attacked with his other arm, causing some of the allies to fall back. However, Law, Luffy, Zoro, Abdullah, Jeet, and Ucy managed to jump on and climbed up Pica's arm. After Luffy destroyed Pica's stone head and Zoro intercepted the real Pica on the stone arm, Law revealed to Luffy that the plan to defeat Kaidou was a trick to get revenge on Doflamingo for killing Corazon, a former top executive of the Donquixote Family, Doflamingo's brother, and Law's benefactor. Law, Luffy, Ucy, Abdullah, and Jeet eventually reached the first level of the new King's Plateau. While they charged through Doflamingo's troops, Kelly Funk (while fused with Bobby Funk) appeared seemingly to aid them. Law asked Luffy what to do about his Seastone handcuffs, but Luffy assured him that things will work out. Kelly then showed them a tunnel that is supposed to go directly to the fourth level. While entering the tunnel, Law and Luffy were shocked to see Abdullah and Jeet fell off. After leaving those two behind, Law and Luffy were contacted by Robin through Den Den Mushi. Robin informed them that she will meet them at the fourth level. Law, Luffy, and Ucy later reached a dead end. While Ucy stood on top of a pool of water, a string clone of Doflamingo appeared behind them. The clone attacked Ucy with bullet thread, knocking him unconscious. As the bull collapsed, Law and Luffy fell into the water and became powerless. Before the clone could kill them, Abdullah and Jeet struck the clone from behind, destroying it. After recovering, Luffy punched a hole to the second level with Elephant Gun and carried Law with him as he moved ahead of the allied colosseum fighters. Cavendish then approached Law and Luffy and allowed them to ride on his horse. During the fray, they were joined by Kyros. When the other colosseum fighters banded together, they created an opening for them to go through. While Farul charged towards the third level, Law, Luffy, Cavendish, and Kyros briefly argued over who will be the one to defeat Doflamingo. Once they reached the third level, they found giant toy soldiers standing in their way. One of the toys bit Farul on the head, gravely injuring the horse. Law's group prepared to battle the toys when Robin, Bartolomeo, and Gladius fell from the sky and landed in front of them. Robin and Bartolomeo held back Gladius and the toys to enable Law's group to continue towards the fourth level, where Rebecca would be waiting with the keys to Law's cuffs. Bartolomeo used his ability to create a stairway to the fourth level. Kyros went ahead, but Luffy and Law soon caught up. Once they reached the sunflower field, Rebecca quickly gave them the keys to Law's handcuffs. After removing the handcuffs, Law disposed of the giant toys that came after them. Kyros then told Law and Luffy to go ahead while he fights Diamante. Diamante tried to stop Law and Luffy as they were going to the palace, but Law teleported himself and Luffy to the palace pool garden. They were then approached by Sugar. Apparently unaware of Sugar's ability, Law did not take any caution. Just as she got close to the two, Usopp sniped at her from the old King's Plateau and made her lose consciousness, saving both Law and Luffy. With Sugar out of the way, Law and Luffy finally reached Doflamingo.

The Second Confrontation

When Luffy was enraged after seeing how Doflamingo treated Bellamy like trash, Law warned him not to let his emotions get the better of him. Doflamingo then created another string clone to fight Law while controlling Bellamy to fight Luffy. Luffy then unexpectedly aimed an attack at Law. Law quickly activated ROOM and used Shambles to switch places with Doflamingo, allowing Luffy to strike the Warlord with Red Hawk. While sitting on Doflamingo's chair, Law sliced Trebol who was standing behind the throne the whole time, into lateral slices with Radio Knife. After telling Trebol that his Radio Knife prevents him from reattaching, Law prepared to attack the Beta Beta no Mi user with Injection Shot. Doflamingo, having recovered from Luffy's attack, intercepted Law and incapacitated him with Fulbright. After Luffy was knocked down, Law listened to Doflamingo as he explained how his family lost their status as World Nobles. Law then questioned Doflamingo about how he had authority to control CP0. Doflamingo revealed that he had knowledge of a secret National Treasure. Since the World Nobles could not kill him, they became cooperative. Doflamingo then explained that Law's Ope Ope no Mi had the power to make someone immortal at the cost of the user's own life. As he and Doflamingo clashed, Doflamingo revealed that he never intended for Law to have the fruit in the first place. Law declared that he would use the fruit's power to destroy Doflamingo and his crew. As the battle intensified, Law revealed that he also has the letter "D" in his name, much to Doflamingo's shock. Doflamingo continued his attack while dismissing the saying of "D" being God's natural enemy as superstition. Law eventually found an opening and injured Doflamingo with Injection Shot. Law continued to send a barrage of attacks at Doflamingo and attempted to use "Mes" on him. However, Doflamingo grabbed Law's arm and stopped him, using the opportunity to taunt Law. Doflamingo then used his string powers to create a saw on his leg and used it to sever Law's right arm. As Law lied on the ground in pain, Doflamingo prepared to kill Law, saying that a lead bullet is the most fitting end for him. Before Doflamingo could fire however, Luffy distracted Doflamingo by destroying the string clone by punching it through the ceiling onto the level where Doflamingo and Law were. Ultimately, Law was overwhelmed by Doflamingo and Trebol. Doflamingo offered Law one last chance to Law to use the Ope Ope no Mi to grant him eternal life, in exchange for granting him any wish. Law responded that he will do the surgery, but only in exchange for Doflamingo bringing Corazon back to life and apologizing to everyone in Dressrosa. He raised his middle finger at Doflamingo and boasted that the Straw Hats have performed miracles before and that Doflamingo will never defeat them. In anger, Doflamingo shot him in the chest, before firing several more shots. Doflamingo angrily asked what Law was implying with all of his references to Corazon in his tattoos and his crew name. Doflamingo expressed annoyance that Law never occupied the heart seat in his crew and claimed that the legacy of Corazon would die with Law. After Luffy defeated Bellamy, Doflamingo said that Luffy was in for a surprise when he sees Law's corpse. Luffy reached the roof once more, then began to fight Doflamingo. As their fight went on, Luffy stumbled upon Law's body. Doflamingo claimed that Law was dead, but Luffy refused to believe him. Unbeknownst to Doflamingo, Law switched places with a grunt before Doflamingo fired lethal shots at him and then switched back right after Luffy arrived. Doflamingo decided to end the game by shrinking the Birdcage, which will destroy everything on Dressrosa in one hour. When Luffy charged at Doflamingo, Law suddenly switched places with Luffy, much to Doflamingo's shock. Law attacked with Gamma Knife, damaging Doflamingo's internal organs. Doflamingo then grabbed onto Law's face but was quickly kicked away by Luffy's Jet Stamp. Law then placed a Room around himself and Doflamingo. As Doflamingo lay injured on the floor, Law condemned him for murdering Corazon. When Doflamingo insulted his brother, Law attacked with Counter Shock. After Law collapsed from exhaustion, Doflamingo stood back up, revealing that he can use his string powers to fix his internal injuries. He then attempted to stomp on Law's head, but Luffy quickly intervened. Law was distraught that he had to be saved by Luffy after his last-ditch attack on Doflamingo failed. After Trebol bound Luffy to his sticky substance, Trebol proceed to bound Law to the floor as well. Law then mocked Trebol's loyalty to Doflamingo, angering him. Trebol prepared to kill Law, confident that he could not fight back. However, Law activated his Room and levitated his severed arm, which he used to slice and wound Trebol. Infuriated, Trebol then caused a suicidal explosion in close proximity to Law. However, Luffy carried Law out of harm's way. Luffy then threw Law down to Robin's group on the Flower Field so that Law's wounds could be treated. Not willing to let Law get away, Doflamingo shot at Robin's group using Tamaito, but his bullet was deflected by Cavendish. Robin's group then gathered around Law, with Leo preparing to stitch him up before Mansherry uses Watering Can. Cavendish prepared to move Law off the Flower Field, but Law refused to leave, stating that he wanted to stay and watch Luffy's battle against Doflamingo to the end and die along with him if need be. Cavendish reluctantly agreed and decided to remain with Law and protect him. After Leo reattached his arm, Law lay on the ground with Cavendish sitting beside him. Cavendish commented that Law and Luffy will be at the center of the upcoming storm, a statement that Law had no objection to. After Luffy activated his Gear 4 technique and started gaining the upper hand against Doflamingo, Law noted that Luffy's usage of Haki was excessive. When Luffy struck Doflamingo with Gomu Gomu no Leo Bazooka and sent him flying into the New King's Plateau, Cavendish commented that no one could survive an attack like that. However, Law told Cavendish to look up, pointing out that the Birdcage was still active. Before Luffy could finish off Doflamingo, his transformation ran out. Law and Cavendish then watched as Jesus Burgess jumped down into the city to take advantage of Luffy's weakened state. While Sabo held off Jesus and Doflamingo pursued Luffy, Law teleported down to Luffy and Gatz' location and protected Luffy in place of Gatz so Luffy could recharge his Haki. After Luffy's Haki was recharged, Law used his powers to switch Luffy's and Viola's locations, freeing Viola from Doflamingo's strings. Law then teleported Rebecca away before Doflamingo could injure her with his attacks. After Luffy struck a decisive, devastating blow against Doflamingo in midair, Law reminisced about what Corazon told him about the Will of D. As Luffy fell after exhausting his strength, Law saved him by instantly teleporting him to the ground.

After Doflamingos Defeat

After Doflamingo's downfall, Law, Kyros, the Straw Hats, and Bellamy were at Kyros' old house. There, Law rested and recovered from his wounds. Three days after Doflamingo's defeat, Law and the Straw Hats continued with their recovery. Bartolomeo then entered the house and informed them that the Marines were mobilized to pursue the pirates. As they prepared to leave, Bellamy asked Law why he spared him. Law answered that the reason was because Luffy considered him a friend. They fled when the Marines were about to storm Kyros' house. During the chase, however, Law broke off from the group without them knowing. Near the eastern port, Law had a private conversation with Sengoku concerning Rosinante. After discussing how much Rosinante meant to each of them, Law revealed himself to be a "D" and asked Sengoku about it. Sengoku was surprised at the revelation but did not answer Law's question. Sengoku then told Law to live his life as Rosinante wanted. Their conversation ended when Fujitora used his gravity ability to lift all the rubble in Dressrosa in preparation to attack Luffy's allies. Law arrived at the eastern port right before Luffy came and attacked Issho. During the clash, Issho used his gravity ability to blow away Luffy, who was then caught by Hajrudin. They quickly fled across a bridge leading to a gigantic ship in the distance. Issho prepared to drop the rubble on them but was obstructed by the Dressrosa citizens who were pretending to chase after the pirates. They eventually reached Orlumbus' flagship, the Yonta Maria. After the allies forged an alliance and formed the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, the Straw Hats and company held a feast to celebrate their victory over Doflamingo. Bellamy and the allies later received a piece of Luffy's vivre card and parted ways. Law, the samurais, and the Straw Hats were later brought to the Barto Club's ship. Law asked Bartolomeo to head for Zou. As the Straw Hats were shown their new wanted posters, Bartolomeo informed Law that his bounty raised to 500,000,000. However, Law was not concerned with his new bounty.

Summary

Silver Mine Arc

As the Straw Hats and Barto Club slept during the night, Luffy and Bartolomeo were suddenly kidnapped by the Silver Pirate Alliance. The two crews confronted the enemy alliance, but became trapped by their Adhesive Shells. The next day, the Going Luffy-senpai arrived at Silver Mine, and Law transported Kin'emon into the underground where Luffy and Bartolomeo where. Later, as the Silver Pirate Alliance besieged their ship, Law wondered where Luffy was.

Zou Arc

During a hailstorm, Law was displeased to learn that the Barto Club had no navigator, had no experience with sailing, and usually called a granny who gave them useless advice. As a result, Law, the samurai, and the Straw Hats needed to protect the ship. After a week of traversing through the dangers of the New World, the ship arrived at Zou. Upon seeing the island, which is on the back of a giant elephant, Law informed the group of a race known as the Mink Tribe. After finding the Thousand Sunny, the Barto Club bid Luffy's group farewell. Proceeding to search for Sanji's group, they climbed the giant elephant's left hind leg with a dragon that Kanjuro conjured. After the samurai explained that they were also searching for their ninja comrade, Raizo, the group saw something dropping towards them. The thing that was falling towards them happened to be a monkey. The monkey hit Kin'emon and Kanjuro, causing them to fall off the dragon. Despite being separated from the group, the samurai assured the Straw Hats that they were alright and would catch up eventually. The rest of the group considered turning back for them, but after they saw the dragon struggling to climb, they decided to continue towards the top. Once they reached the top, the dragon turned back into a drawing while Zoro and Law remained unconcerned about it. They later entered a village and Luffy ran ahead of the group. While exploring the village, they saw signs of a recent attack before encountering two people from the Mink Tribe. The two minkmen had to leave in a hurry to deal with an intruder at the Whale Forest. Before leaving, the dog mink woman, Wanda, told Law's group where to find a "corpse" of their comrade. Law's group thought that Wanda was saying the other Straw Hat members died, but they did not believe it to be true and they continued exploring the island. When asked about it, Law confirmed that Bepo is also one of the minks. While exploring the Mink Tribe's civilization, they found it deserted and more signs of a recent battle. Law considered the possibility that there may have been a falling out between the minks. During their exploration at Claw City, the group experienced an eruption rain and they fled to higher ground. Once the rain passed, they surmised that it is a daily occurrence based on how the city is built. Right after Usopp spotted Luffy with Carrot and Wanda, Law teleported the group close to their location. Wanda then led them into Right Belly Fortress, where they reunited with Nami and Chopper. While the Straw Hats were getting acquainted with the Mink Tribe, Law found his crew by following Bepo's vivre card. After he reunited with them, his crew invited him into the forest, saying they had a lot to talk about. When the Straw Hats returned to the Whale Forest, Law introduced his crew to Luffy. Law was then shocked to hear that Sanji went to Big Mom. Luffy said that he will bring Sanji back and told Law not to fight Kaidou until he returns. Law then explained that Kaidou may be pursuing them as they speak. After the minks were touched by Law's concern, his crew and the Straw Hats partied with Nekomamushi and his subjects. The next morning, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi took Law, the Straw Hats, and the samurais to see Raizo. Like most of the male Straw Hats, Law fantasized about Raizo as a stereotypical ninja. They met Raizo inside a secret room in the whale-shaped tree, and Law asked him to perform clone jutsu. Raizo initially refused, but the Straw Hats coerced him into it, and Law was stunned when Raizo performed clone jutsu. When Robin deciphered the red poneglyph hidden in the Whale Tree, Inuarashi then explained to Law and the Straw Hats about the four Road Poneglyphs and how they can lead to Laugh Tale. Law was shocked When Nekomamushi revealed that Kaidou and Big Mom each possessed one Road Poneglyph. Law and the Straw Hats were then surprised when Nekomamushi revealed that Momonosuke's ancestors created the poneglyphs. However, the samurais explained that Momonosuke never inherited the knowledge of the poneglyphs due to the execution of Lord Oden at the hands of Kaidou and the shogun of Wano Country. They also learned that Oden was part of Roger's crew and had been on Laugh Tale with him as well as the Beasts Pirates' objective in obtaining the secret that Oden knew. After Luffy agreed to form an alliance with the samurais and the Mink Tribe, Law was surprised that Luffy did not ask for his opinion and was shocked by his definition of alliance. They later left the secret room and continued with their discussion of defeating Kaidou. The alliance decided to split up and meet at Wano Country. Law decided to travel with the samurais to Wano Country in his submarine. Right after they left the Whale Tree, they felt Zou shaking and heard Zunesha crying. Zou's shaking was because of Jack returning and assaulting the giant elephant, Zunesha. On Momonosuke's command, Zunesha retaliated and sank Jack's fleet. With the threat of Jack ended, everyone became calm again. As the Sanji Retrieval Team departed from Zou, everyone, except for the Straw Hat members left behind, was shocked when Luffy jumped off Zunesha with his party.

Summary

One Piece Stampede

Law and his crew attended the Pirates Festival on Delta Island. Prior to the start of the Expo's main event, Law realized that there was suspicious activity going on behind the scenes and was attacked by the legendary pirate Douglas Bullet, resulting in injury. Law managed to get his crew off Delta Island before transporting himself onto the Thousand Sunny as the Straw Hats were racing to find Gol D. Roger's treasure. Law told the Straw Hats about the suspicious activity, and Sanji, Robin, Chopper and Brook accompanied him back to Delta Island on the Shark Submerge III. The five of them infiltrated the underground lair of the Pirates Festival's host Buena Festa, where they overheard Festa conspiring with the Marines to send a Buster Call on Delta Island. While in the lair, they ran into Smoker, and Law and Robin ran off as Sanji battled the vice admiral. Soon afterward, they were both greeted by Crocodile, who approached Law with a plan for defeating Bullet. After forming the plan, Law went back above ground, where Bullet had created a giant colossus and was trying to kill every pirate and Marine in front of him. Law approached Smoker, Sabo, and Boa Hancock as Bullet sent Luffy flying toward them, and Law told the four of them his and Crocodile's plan to take down Bullet's colossus. Hancock and Crocodile proceeded to hit Bullet's colossus with powerful attacks, allowing Law to cut through the Haki protecting its shoulder. Smoker and Sabo then attacked the cut, successfully severing the colossus' arm. Luffy then overwhelmed the colossus with a powerful attack, and Law and the rest of the group successfully brought it down with successive attacks of their own. Law then watched as Luffy defeated Bullet, and later destroyed the treasure that everyone was fighting for, an Eternal Pose to Laugh Tale. Law then used his ability to get himself and their allies to their ships. In the aftermath, the pirates all departed from Delta Island, and were able to pass through the Buster Call fleet with the help of Sabo and Ann shielding them with a fire wall.

Wano Country Arc
Preparations For War

After leaving Zou, the Heart Pirates infiltrated Wano Country. During his stay in the country, Law stole food from the Beasts Pirates' farm. When Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin informed him that Luffy and Zoro were heading to Bakura Town, Law became worried about the trouble they could cause and planned to stop them. On the way to Bakura Town, Bepo ate a fish from the polluted river and got sick, causing some delay to Law's group. Shachi then informed Law that Hawkins was approaching the town and there was a fire. After Hawkins entered Bakura Town, Law confronted him while wearing a mask to disguise himself, claiming to be after Hawkins' life. Law then activated his "Room" and attacked Hawkins, who used his own power to avoid a hit. However, Law's transferred attack did not kill Hawkins' subordinate, and allowed Hawkins to uncover his attacker's identity. Hawkins then removed Law's mask, but not before Law took out all of Hawkins' subordinates around them. Law then blocked Hawkins' attack with his sword and told Hawkins he only wanted to scare him off. Their conversation was abruptly interrupted when Zoro and Kikunojo arrived on the stolen food cart, heading toward Okobore Town. After reuniting with Luffy and scolding the two Straw Hats for their reckless behavior, Law instructed them to come with him to the ruins of Oden's castle and discuss their plans with the "Ghosts of the Wano Country". After parting ways with Tama, Law rode on Komachiyo along with Luffy, Zoro, and Kikunojo as they traveled to Oden's castle. There, Law showed Luffy the graves of the Kouzuki Family, which shocked Luffy. They then met up with Kin'emon, Momonosuke, and the group that sailed to Wano with Luffy before going inside the castle to talk. Law sat outside as Kin'emon told Luffy's group about Wano's past. When Kaidou in his dragon form arrived at the Kuri Region, Law was alarmed and he alerted Luffy and his group to Kaidou's presence. When Kin'emon asked why Kaidou came to Kuri so suddenly, Law regretfully explained that Luffy, Zoro, and himself were already exposed. However, he noted that this should not affect the plan too much, as Kaidou had his sights set solely on him and Luffy for taking down Caesar Clown and Doflamingo's SMILE operations. After Luffy rushed off to Okobore Town to face Kaidou, Law chased after him alone and told the rest at Oden Castle to remain unseen. Law caught up to Luffy as the latter kept running toward Okobore Town and reprimanded him for trying to help the citizens before Kaidou destroyed Oden Castle with a fire breath. After Luffy sent Kaidou crashing into the ground with a Gear Third punch, Law tried to tell Luffy to flee, but the latter instead chose to attempt to defeat Kaidou. After Luffy was overwhelmed, Law was about to retrieve him, but Hawkins pierced Law with a Seastone nail, forcing Law to escape without Luffy. He later went to Sanji in the Flower Capital. As two of the Beasts Pirates' Flying Six were coming for Sanji for beating up some of Kyoshiro's men, Law urged him to go hide. Law, Franky, Sanji, and Usopp fled to avoid discovery. However, with Page One rampaging in search of Sanji, the chef went to confront the Headliner. When Sanji activated his Raid Suit, Law recognized the suit, having read the comic strip about Germa 66, and explained the suit's capabilities to Usopp and Franky. During the battle, Law, Usopp, and Franky fled to Ebisu Town. After Sanji's battle with Page One in the Flower Capital, Law, Usopp, Franky, and Sanji hid in Ebisu Town. Law read from a newspaper that a funeral was being prepared for Komurasaki and that Kid had escaped Udon prison. Law, Usopp, and Franky later met a man named Tonoyasu. After hearing that they were friends of Zoro, Tonoyasu invited them to his house and informed them that they just missed Zoro. The group then noticed that Sanji was no longer with them. Sometime later, Law's crewmates were captured and the Beasts Pirates found out about Kin'emon's secret message and his supporters. Shinobu got into a heated argument with Law, suspecting that Law's captured crewmates revealed the meaning of Kin'emon's message. Law absolutely refused to consider that, intending to prove her wrong once he rescued them. Law then left Ebisu Town to rescue his crew while reprimanding Shinobu for doubting them. Law later went to Rasetsu Town and in the chaos caused by the Straw Hats, he arrived at the prison to rescue his crewmates, but he was confronted by Hawkins. After Law noticed the absence of Bepo, Hawkins stated that only a fool would keep all hostages in the same place, before maliciously revealing that he had linked himself to all of Law's subordinates. Law witnessed Hawkins inflicting a wound on his arm, which caused Shachi's arm to be cut, much to his anger. Hawkins warned Law that he would not be defeated unless Law killed Shachi, Penguin, and Bepo. Law, however, did not get intimidated and remained resolute in cutting Hawkins down should he be left with no choice, leading Hawkins to think the situation over. Law later made some kind of deal with Hawkins, who released Bepo, Shachi, and Penguin in exchange for Law's capture. Law then told his crewmates not to tell Luffy about this incident in order to not compromise the raid. While Law was locked in a cell, Hawkins intended to interrogate him about his alliance's plans in Wano. After receiving help from X Drake, Law subdued Hawkins and cut him into pieces. Law then forced Hawkins at blade point to tell him about what had occurred with his alliance with Kid and Apoo, to which a bloodied Hawkins explained Apoo's deception and his forced submission to Kaidou. Hawkins then asked Law if he had changed his mind concerning his alliance with Luffy after hearing his story, but before he could get an answer, Law slashed Hawkins, commenting that was none of his business. Law spoke to Drake, saying that he would go along with his plan if it meant his freedom. At some point prior to the Onigashima raid, he told Robin his full name in hopes of learning more about the Will of D. However, she did not know anything about it. Thus, Law realized that in order to figure out the meaning, they needed to follow the Road Poneglyphs.

The Fire Festival

On the day of the Fire Festival, the Heart Pirates, Straw Hats, and Kid Pirates arrived at Tokage Port and entered the battle with the Beasts Pirates. After rescuing Kin'emon's group, Law and his crew were shocked to hear that Kaidou had formed an alliance with Big Mom. Undeterred, Law, Luffy, and Kid destroyed a Beasts Pirates ship together. While dealing with the last enemy ship, Law was surprised to see Jinbe's arrival. After Shishilian and Hyougoro boarded the Polar Tang, Law discussed with the Scabbards about the plan to enter Onigashima, explaining that they would use his submarine and Devil Fruit powers to invade the island from behind. After the guards at the torii were defeated by the Straw Hats, the Heart Pirates and the Scabbards (except Kin'emon and Denjiro) traversed to the back of Onigashima. When the submarine got close enough, Law teleported himself, Bepo, Shachi, Penguin, and the Scabbards to Onigashima's back entrance, where they were joined up by Marco, Nekomamushi, and Izou. Law and the crewmates that he brought along later entered Kaidou's castle to begin an all-out attack on Kaidou's forces. After the Red Scabbards attacked Kaidou, the other samurai revealed themselves and began fighting alongside Law. Law defeated several guards in the second basement floor and found a Poneglyph. However, the Poneglyph he found was not red, so he decided to keep looking as he reflected upon the purpose of the Will of D. and reminisced about Rosinante's sacrifice. Law later went to the roof, where he was joined by Kid, Killer, Zoro, and Luffy as they prepared to fight against Kaidou and Big Mom. He then teleported the wounded Scabbards and Izou to safety, and later saved Luffy from an attack by Kaidou, before berating the Straw Hat captain for making it look like Law was taking orders from him. Luffy then challenged Law and Kid to a game of chicken when Linlin launched an attack at the three captains. Though Law initially refused, he fell for Luffy's taunts and ended up taking the full brunt of the attack alongside the other two. Law quickly recovered and attempted to bury Kaidou under a pile of boulders after the other Worst Generation pirates took a shot at him, but the Emperor transformed and joined Big Mom in the sky, ready to launch a counterattack. Kaidou used a roar to launch wind blades at his opponents, and Law teleported out of the way. Later, Law attempted to attack Kaidou's heart with Gamma Knife. When Kaidou was aiming his fire breath at Luffy in mid-air, Zoro asked Law to send him in front of Kaidou. Though annoyed, Law complied with Zoro's request, enabling him to protect Luffy by slicing Kaidou's fire. Big Mom then had Zeus unleash lightning at the Supernovas. When Luffy got worn out from using Gear Fourth, Law explained to Kid about Gear Fourth's negative side effects. After Big Mom tried to attack Luffy, Law dealt a blow to her by using Counter Shock. As Kaidou launched wind blades at the five Supernovas, Law simply dodged by teleporting. Later, the Supernovas watched Kaidou transformed into his Human-Beast form. Finding no progress against the combined might of Kaidou and Big Mom, Law suggested to the other Supernovas that they had to separate the Emperors, who agreed to the proposition. When both Kaidou and Big Mom launched their devastating Hakai, Law witnessed Zoro taking the brunt of the attack and delaying the shockwave for an instant, teleporting himself and Zoro out of the way before the shockwave overwhelmed the latter. He then convinced Kid to make a box made of scrap metal, which he used to seal Zeus inside by teleporting him away from Big Mom's hands as Zoro and Killer disarmed her from the other special homies. Law then assisted Kid in throwing Big Mom off Onigashima by hitting her with a flying boulder, saying that without any of her homies, she would be unable to return to the battlefield. Kaidou caught up to Law's plan and tried to attack Zoro in order to free Prometheus. Law swapped himself with the Straw Hat swordsman to save him and deliver a counterattack with Injection Shot, but ended up clobbered away. Zoro then told Law that he was entrusting the Surgeon of Death to finish off Kaidou in case his next attack failed to do so, as Luffy had been just knocked out. Law became shocked that Zoro was able to deliver a significant cut to Kaidou's torso, but when Zoro collapsed to the ground out of exhaustion, Law rushed to protect him, only to get himself struck down alongside Zoro by Kaidou's attack anyway. Later on, when Luffy realized the trick to actually damage Kaidou, Law became surprised that Luffy's blows were not connecting to the Emperor's body at all. Luffy told Law that the latter could entrust Kaidou's defeat to him. Law then picked up Zoro and noticed that Zeus had been released by Kid's metal box due to the latter's magnetism having weakened. Not wanting to have Big Mom join with Zeus again, he decided to bring the cloud homie with him as he teleported himself with Zoro downstairs. After teleporting himself and Zoro, they were both caught by Sanji. Law informed Sanji about Zoro's condition but quickly left the scene, searching for Big Mom and leaving Zoro to be tended and looked after by Sanji. A little later, Law heard the broadcasted announcement that Luffy had been defeated by Kaidou. Law reached Kid just as Momonosuke finished reciting Luffy's message. Acknowledging the Straw Hat's relentlessness, Law proposed a temporary alliance with Kid to deal with Big Mom. During the fight, Law witnessed Kid being thrown off when he received injuries from Killer's attacks on Hawkins. An adult Momonosuke in his dragon form and with Luffy riding him flew into the Skull Dome and crashed through several floors, interrupting the fights there. When Kid collapsed from Hawkins' injuries, Big Mom prepared to strike him with Napoleon and Hera, so Law held her back by using Counter Shock. An enraged Prometheus blasted Law with flames, and Big Mom continued her attack on Kid. Both Law and Kid stood back up, and once Killer defeated Hawkins, Kid recovered his focus. Preparing to face Big Mom again, Kid asked Law whether he had awakened his Devil Fruit ability. Law confirmed he had but saved it as a last resort measure, so they agreed to use it as a trump card. After Big Mom's attack launched Kid out of the tower, Law wrapped K·ROOM around his sword, thrust it into Big Mom's neck, and then unleashed Shock Wille, which created an electrical shockwave inside her body. While Big Mom was injured and distracted, Kid uses his powers to magnetize her body. Law then teleported Kid to safety as all of the metal in the area converged on Big Mom, seemingly crushing her. Law tried to learn more about Kid's awakened abilities, but Kid refused to divulge more. Their attack, however, was not sufficient to finish Big Mom off. Now truly angered, she stole several souls of Kaidou's minions to power up. Sacrificing one year from her own lifespan in order to grow in size and power, she admitted to them that it had been decades since she last felt such pain, and challenged the two pirates to try and take her down. Not intimidated by Big Mom's new form, both refused to back down with Law declaring he has to defeat her if he wants to learn about the true history and then once again starting to fight both her and her newly created homies alongside Kid. Soon thereafter, Big Mom once again regained the upper hand, beating them up while mocking them about their crew's pleas to spare their lives. After Big Mom punished their crews for pleading to her, she started to make her move towards the roof, viewing their fight as over. This would, however, give Law an advantage, as he was not defeated yet and exploited her ascension towards the roof, coating Kikoku with K-Room and stabbing her from right arm up to her face. He then unleashed Shock Wille onto her again, noticing she could not have been unharmed by this attack before. Right before he was about to be attacked by her newly created steel homies, they were attached towards Kid, who also rose up. After assimilating both the homies and surrounding metal, he confidently told Big Mom that nothing was impervious to damage before charging at Big Mom with Punk Corna Dio, ramming her into a wall. Both then once again assured Big Mom they will not let her reach the roof, even if they die in the battle. Law then started arguing with Kid as Big Mom got back up and healed herself, with her even admitting Law’s Devil Fruit powers were dangerous. Law told Kid to prepare himself as the former would spend his last remaining stamina in a final attack. Kid took the opportunity to attack Big Mom once more, using his awakening. With Kid's help, Law used his Devil Fruit powers to warp a tower over her head, crushing her and knocking her on her back. Law then coated his sword with K-ROOM again and stabbed her through the chest, only this time, he made the sword super long; long enough to pierce straight through the floating island and all the way down to Wano's surface. Big Mom started pummeling Law to force him to release her, but he held on and drove his sword even deeper, using a powerful attack called Puncture Wille. Big Mom ordered her new Homie Misery to attack Law, but before it could strike him, Kid created an enormous railgun and fired a powerful projectile directly on Big Mom's stomach, as Law declared her era to be over. That, however, was not enough to finish off Big Mom, who activated her Soul Pocus in order to steal the souls of Kid and Law's crewmates. The technique, however, ended up being ineffective on both captains, who held no fear towards the Emperor. Law then manifested a miniaturized Room called R-ROOM to cancel out Big Mom's voice. At the same time, Misery tried to attack Law, but he was able to cut her in two as Kid proceeded to launch Big Mom out of Onigashima and directly into the crater Law had formed beforehand. With Big Mom falling victim to an explosion down below, a massively spent Kid and Law were heavily celebrated by their crews for the win. With only Luffy's fight left to finish, Law waited for the outcome of the battle, stating that he would be unable to keep going if Luffy were to lose. Once Kaidou descended from the ceiling and declared his win over the Straw Hat captain (corroborated by Law not being able to sense Luffy's presence), Law prepared himself for more fighting, despite his exhaustion. He was targeted by Kaidou's forces, but his crew protected him. Law then noticed that Luffy was still alive through his Observation and, after that, witnessed a gigantic arm descending from the ceiling and pulling Kaidou back to the rooftop, much to his shock, and later shockingly witness Luffy's giant head. He kept waiting for the final outcome of the fight and rejoiced alongside Bepo when Kaidou's defeat was finally confirmed. He also witnessed the moment Momonosuke took charge of Wano's leadership through a Visual Den Den Mushi projection.

Post Raid

After a week, Law and his crew oversaw the repairs of the Victoria Punk, Thousand Sunny and Polar Tang alongside Usopp, Franky and the Kid Pirates at Tokage Port. Apoo then arrived with a newspaper showing Law's new bounty as well as the new members of the Four Emperors. Law was mostly unenthusiastic about his new 3,000,000,000 bounty despite his crew being impressed. Law eventually made his way back to the Flower Capital and noticed Robin was not participating in the festivities. He managed to track her down to the secret stairway Kouzuki Sukiyaki was guiding her through below the capital's castle. Law witnessed the ruins of Ancient Wano along with Robin and then finally came across the Road Poneglyph at the bottom of Mt. Fuji, all while learning more about Wano's history and Pluton's whereabouts. A few days later, while their crews were loading up cargo at Tokage Port, Kid, Luffy and Law tried to decide between themselves new sea routes for each of them to follow, with Law setting for the northeastern path while mocking Luffy and Kid for their childish knowledge of navigation. Afterwards, when Kid showed Luffy a leaflet illustrating the Cross Guild, a new group formed by Buggy, Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk, Law seemed genuinely impressed that Buggy had managed to associate himself with such powerful men. Also, for fairness and sportsmanship reasons, Law gave a Kid a copy of the Wano Road Poneglyph for his role in the raid. Law then silently reacted to Kid's mention of a man with a "burn scar" that could be key in their journey for the One Piece. Before setting sail, Law made it clear to the Straw Hats that they would become enemies the moment they left Wano. As the Heart Pirates departed from the country, Law was baited by Kid into making his crew take the Climbing Koi Waterfall route alongside Luffy's.

One Piece Film Red

Uta organized a concert on Elegia in order to realize her dream of performing for the whole world. Law was present during the concert.

Final Saga

Egghead Arc

A few days later, on their way to the next island, Law and his crew are attacked by the Blackbeard Pirates, who are in search of their Road Poneglyph. The crew's submarine gets damaged during the battle and forces them to the surface. All of a sudden, Law gets infected by a disease caused by Doc Q's Devil Fruit ability, which turns him into a woman, but he breaks free from it using his Haki. Van Augur uses his ability to teleport Jesus Burgess to the island, where the latter uses his own ability to pick up a mountain to throw at the Heart Pirates. Law manages to destroy it as Blackbeard comes flying in on Doc Q and his horse Stronger, telling him that he suspects he claimed Kaidou’s Road Poneglyph and that he plans on claiming it for himself. Law accepts Blackbeard’s challenge, saying the winner takes all. Law then used his awakened ability R-ROOM: Amputate on Stronger to make them fall. Meanwhile, Bepo identifies Augur's position and tells Jean Bart to intercept his shot targeted at their captain. Law then faced off with Blackbeard, using K-ROOM: Shock Willie against him. Augur tries to save Blackbeard using his teleportation ability but Blackbeard tells him to charge straight ahead. The two clash again with Teach using his Black Vortex against Law. However, despite his best efforts, Law lost to Blackbeard. As he lay on the ground, Blackbeard taunted him about his crew's defeat and his ship's destruction, laughing that it meant they were no longer pirates. Blackbeard then told Law that all the pirates whose hearts Law stole during the Rocky Port Incident were still imprisoned at Hachinosu and would celebrate Blackbeard bringing back Law's heart. Blackbeard then considered what to do with Law's Devil Fruit. But as he moved to grab Law, the latter was saved by Bepo, who transformed into his Sulong form during daylight, thanks to something given him by Chopper. Bepo hurled a boulder at the Blackbeard Pirates before escaping with Law into the sea. A barely conscious Law protested that he could not abandon his crew. Bepo refused, insisting that Law's crew was made of survivors and begging the captain to trust them to save themselves. Bepo then submerged into the ocean with Law, telling him not to die.

Anime And Manga Differences

Appearance

When he was first introduced in the manga, Law had tattoos on only four of his left hand's fingers. In the anime, all five fingers have a tattoo. Later in the manga, during the Marineford Arc, all five fingers are tattooed as well.

Sabaody Archipelago Arc

Originally in the manga, when Law met Kid in the auction house, he notably stuck up his middle finger at Kid. In the anime, this was censored with Law simply giving Kid a smug look. When Law, Kid, and their respective crews encountered a Pacifista, it is not specified whether this one was Kuma or not in the manga and the scene ends with a cliffhanger. In the anime, this one was a regular Pacifista and the pirates were given some scenes fighting it. When it seemed that they defeated the Pacifista, it got back up and resumed its attack, essentially leaving the same cliffhanger as in the manga.

Postwar Arc

Law and his crew's interaction with the Kuja are also added in the anime. When they arrive on Amazon Lily, they enter the harbor with the Kuja ship only to be met with initial hostility by the Kuja islanders until Boa Hancock stops them. When Elder Nyon clearly states that men are forbidden on the island and the Kujas must uphold the law, Law and Jinbe manage to convince Nyon that Law is needed to treat Luffy's wounds. After forming a compromise, the Heart Pirates are allowed to dock at the bay.

During The Timeskip

In the anime, a flashback showing him sending the 100 pirates' hearts to the Marines is added. In the manga, this fact is only mentioned. This sequence contradicts Law's former bounty poster, which depicts him already wearing his new clothes before attaining his Warlord status.

Dressrosa Arc

In the manga, when Law confronted Doflamingo on the palace rooftop and was defeated by the Warlord, he once again stuck up his middle finger at him. This was again cut in the anime, as Law only mocked Doflamingo without performing the gesture.

Translation And Dub Issues

Summary

When referring to others, Law adds ya (屋?) to their name or epithet. This can be approximated in English as the agentive suffix "-er", though ya does not denote courteousness and is generally used when referring to someone's profession, or indicating some other notable trait. However, he has rarely used san to refer to certain characters, such as with Corazon and sarcastically with Vergo. Likewise, there are different ways for his nickname coined for him by Luffy, "Tora-man", can be translated. It can possibly as "Tra-man", but is often subtitled as "Tra-guy" or "Traffy" in some media with said subtitles. The English version of Pirate Warriors 3 and Burning Blood instead localizes it as "Traffie".

Trivia

Summary

Law's surname, Trafalgar, is based on Cape Trafalgar, a headland located in southwestern Spain. The cape is the site of a famous naval battle between the British and the French/Spanish fleet during the Napoleonic Wars, dubbed the Battle of Trafalgar. London's landmark public square, Trafalgar Square is named for the battle, as is a class of submarines in the British Royal Navy. Law's full name, Water Law, in katakana is written the exact same way as Waterloo (ワーテルロー) , the municipality in located in the province of Walloon Brabant, Belgium. Combined with Law's battle against Wellington, this name may be a reference to the Battle of Waterloo, the final battle of the Napoleonic Wars, took place on June 18, 1815. The battle represents the ultimate defeat of Napoleon at the hands of the Seventh Coalition, which was led under the command of Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. Law's nickname by Luffy, "Tora-o" (トラ男), may be a reference to Toraoh, one of the main characters of the Mashin Hero Wataru franchise and best friend to Wataru Ikusabe, one of Mayumi Tanaka's prominent roles besides Luffy. Law's second wanted poster depicts Bepo in the background with the back of his head showing, similar to the position assumed by Usopp in Monkey D. Luffy's first wanted poster. At 26 years old, Law is the youngest of the Warlords of the Sea. At the height of 191 cm, he is also the shortest of the Warlords of the Sea, tied with Boa Hancock. Law shares similarities with the other members of the Worst Generation and the other Warlords: Law, Monkey D. Luffy and Marshall D. Teach are the only known members that have the initial D. in their names. Law uses the "smiley" style of Jolly Roger, as first seen used by his former superior Donquixote Doflamingo. But unlike Doflamingo's smiley, his does not have a "cancel" sign across it. The smiley most likely refers to the final moments of Donquixote Rosinante, who died with a smile before he told Law to remember him smiling from that day onwards. Law's theme song, which was released as a bonus song on the One Piece Log Collection – Sabaody CD is called "Dr. Heart Stealer". This is likely a reference to his ability Mes, which he uses to remove people's hearts from their bodies. Law's reaction to his sister dying is similar to Luffy's breakdown when his brother died. Law's escape from the attack on Flevance almost mirrors the actions of real-life pirate François l'Olonnais, who was shipwrecked and attacked by Spaniards. L'Olonnais covered himself in the blood of his crew and hid amongst their dead bodies in order to survive. Francois also famously cut out the heart of a Spanish hostage to intimidate the other hostages into telling him a safe escape route. This somewhat resembles Law's act of cutting out a hundred pirate hearts to become a Warlord. In the 7th fan polls of most popular characters, Law was ranked 5th, making him the most popular non-Straw Hat character. In the 4th fan poll, he was ranked 10th. In the 5th fan poll, he was ranked 2nd, making him the only character to place 2nd who is not Zoro, who has ranked 2nd in every other fan poll. In the 6th fan poll, he was ranked 4th. Law prefers a spring climate on Winter Islands. He shares this preference with fellow doctor Tony Tony Chopper. Law is currently the only member of the Worst Generation confirmed to have had blood siblings.

Sbsbased Trivia

Law's birthday, October 6, comes from his surname's Japanese transcription first syllable and his name's Japanese transcription since 10-6 can be derived from to-ro. Law's name was taken from 18th century English pirate Edward Low. Law's apparently infamous cruelty echoes Edward Low's own reputation for violently torturing victims before killing them. A fan asked Oda who would win if Law, Monkey D. Luffy and Eustass Kid played a game of Rock paper scissors, if it would be Luffy because he can see the future, and Oda answered that while Luffy can indeed see the future and could do that to win, he hates cheating, so Oda does not think Luffy would look into the future. At the end, Oda added that they do not get along very well with each other, so they would end up fighting no matter who wins. Law's favorite foods are onigiri and grilled fish, and his least favorite foods are bread and umeboshi. He notably shares his dislike of bread with his companion Donquixote Rosinante. Curiously, the same cannot be said about umeboshi, which was one of Rosinante's favorite foods. Law's animal resemblances are spotted seal and snow leopard. If One Piece was set in the real world, then Law would be from Germany. When a fan asked which flower Law resembles the most, Oda answered he most resembles a queen of the night. If Law was not a pirate, then he would be a doctor. Law's hobbies are wandering around and collecting commemorative coins.
