History
38 years ago, God Valley became the site of the triennial Native Hunting Competition, where the local population and some slaves were to be hunted for sport by the World Nobles. The reason for the island being chosen as the “host” for the event was attributed to its name, thought to be blasphemous by the Celestial Dragon community. Figarland Garling, current Supreme Commander of the God’s Knights, was responsible for slaying the island’s king and later became the “champion” of God Valley. During the God Valley Incident 38 years ago, Monkey D. Garp allied with Gol D. Roger and the Roger Pirates to fight the Rocks Pirates and ultimately succeeded in defeating Rocks D. Xebec. Following this monumental battle, the island mysteriously vanished without a trace, no longer showing up on world maps. Roger, Silvers Rayleigh, along with Scopper Gaban, also discovered a chest containing the baby Shanks, who was the son of Garling, on the island and took him with them, though it remains unknown if Shanks was born on the island or he was brought there from somewhere else.
Trivia
- God Valley may have been inspired by the real world place known as Valley of the Gods, which is located in southeastern Utah, United States. Said landmark features a rock formation that is very similar to the one depicted on the island and holds major religious significance to indigenous people around the area.
- The name of the island may come from how its mountains resemble a pair of hands held together in prayer.
- Its population was at least of 100,000 people before the Native Hunting Competition.
