History
Past
Namakura Island is a land ravaged by hardship and decay, and its people live in poverty. The turmoil in this country can be largely attributed to the actions of the Longarm Tribe. In desperation, the populace turned to a rite of demon-summoning, hoping thus to deliver themselves from their plight.

Straw Hats Separation Serial
It was at the very moment that the ritual was underway that Brook, cast through the skies by the power of Kuma's Devil Fruit powers, came hurtling from the Sabaody Archipelago and fell upon this forsaken land. His uncannily timed arrival during the performance of the ritual, led Pekkori and his cultists to believe they had succeeded in summoning none other than Satan himself, the "King of Demons".
Trivia
- Namakura (鈍ら?) means "lazy; cowardly" in Japanese, referencing the initial passiveness of the inhabitants when it came to defending themselves.
- "Harahettania" is an allusion to the Japanese phrase hara hetta, a casual way to say "I'm hungry".
- It is likely that, at some point, Kuma visited this island, where he would later on send Brook, as he did with the other Straw Hat Pirates, during the events of Chapter 1099.
